I survived a 5 years career, you can do it, the hardest moments of college:

1.- starting out
you feel a bit out of the loop, its all fun and stuff but you are like... so new lol :P

2.- filter subjects (aka medium semesters or near end  of career)
strong and sometimes dull but very complex subjects that you need to go though in order to proceed with the further things to see

3.- internship/first real job in your field
first real job even if its though internship it is always a very important experience, its horrible for some, beautiful for some others, either way its something that will be huge meaningful for you, your first job in your field.

4.- thesis (the ones that do have to go though it)
omfg, thesis is like... omg, very important it does shapes you as a true professional if you do it right

5.- ending it
it is that moment of your life when you ask yourself, ok... and what now?, sad is when you freak out for the lack of options and overwhealming when you actually can answer this to yourself.

So beautifulz... <3

hmmmm.... just to let Jeysie feel a bit better...

no problems at college at all... walk in the park ; )

just trust yourself and your abilities, don't do something that you know you can't, but always try to learn as much as you can and go from there...

get help if you need to but never lose any moment to get a learning-experience...

hmmm, the only difficult part is the ending (not sure how difficult it will be, but i'll tell you in 2 weeks)

...just remember to get lots of sleep and don't try to do more then you can (but never do less then you supposed to). 80% is nice, no need to get a 100% unless you want to and you are capable of doing so...

hahaha.... just my experience ; ), college is a great experience, just enjoy it and try to get as much out of it as possible!!

hmmm.... i wonder how many will disagree with me ; )

I do, lol because college is serious stuff for me because I HAD TO PAY BIG TIME for it, Im on a private university which I had to actually "invest" on my studies, that crap isnt cheap in fact is the third MOST expensive university at Vzla... AND among the top 3 best technology campus in Latin America, so yeah it wasnt fun for me to consider all the money my family DID struggle for me as to consider it a walk in the part lol serious stuff for me! :P, or that's how I handled it myself anyhow, each freaking semester costed me a fortune, and from there I had to do magic myself (books, material, prints, etc) thats why I also HAD to work.

Truth is, instead of taking it for granted I would honestly believe you would do great if you at least tried, if you didnt find confortable then I would suggest you to decide whether all you want is to have fun or get serious with it, because believe it or not you need to consider it as a time investment of your life, that can or cannot help you, most of the times it does regardless hence college means a technical trained professional ready to be hired anyways.

Anyhow, I find college a good "life teacher" also, it is a personal aspiration to actually "have a career" and to make a living with it its the idea of it, so, it is worthy to consider such an option always, now or then, I do have teachers at campus that they've done more than one masters and phd's (postgraduate studies) and we are talking about 40 to 60 years old, so in  my opinion thats beautiful.

And I say jeysie could totally do it if she wanted to (and could, I know college life isnt easy also about money related) cuz I believe she's a strong and smart girl, even though you may face odds I believe you could put it though ;-D

lol, I knew you wouldn't agree ; ) I don't take college for granted, I had to pay my education too (hmmm... with a bit help from my family) ...and I'm kinda broke now (cuz i had to give up my job, to be able to graduate)

And sure you'll have to be serious, I'm not suggesting that you can be a slacker or something, but that doesn't mean you have to be uber-serious.

I've seen those students at my school and they totally freaked out and even dropped out because they couldn't handle all the stress, because the had to succeed and had to be the top of the class (they never were ; )

anyway, you have to want to learn, if you don't... then I don't see apoint in going there at all, cuz like you said it would be a waste of time and money. But if you want to learn and you are going, then you better make the best of it and enjoy the experience instead of feeling it as a burden.

You don't have to go to college just to get smarter and study, cuz you can learn everything yourself (if you have the right books and the right motivation ...with sometimes a little bit help), you just have to train yourself in it. ...college is a big help though, but while you're at it, you could just as well enjoy it.

hahaha... well thats the way i see it ; )

....and I agree with the fact that Jeysie could do well in college, ...at least, if she really want to.

Heh. Well, part of it is the money... as in, I have none, and neither does my mom. By time I managed to get a job that paid well enough to afford my bills and pay for college... well, I wouldn't need college then, would I? :P

Plus, I'm coming at the matter from a different perspective. I dropped out of high school (and I'm still kicking myself 8 years later), and then started working a year after because my mom didn't make much money... and after 7 years of working, college feels like a step backwards, oddly enough. If I went to college, it would be because I wanted a better job... and 4+ years is a long time for that, especially since I'd still need to put up with being in some mediocre job for the duration. :P

I dunno. Part of me wants to go to college... I like learning, and I am interested in career fields that would really need a degree. But a larger part of me just doesn't know how it would really be feasible. Doesn't help that I don't know what to major in, either... I just don't really have any knacks or interests that are potentially marketable to learn about.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Jeysie:

With regards to money, you could look into what kind of financial aid / bursaries the school gives.  Almost all of my university expenses were paid with a government student loan, which works out great while you're in school.  But 6 months after you graduate you have to start paying it back (job or not).  But I'm talking about the loan you get when you're a full-time student, if you're a part-time student, they might have different regulations.  I know it's a different loan altogether.

Secondly, you don't have to take a 4 year degree.  I've seen places that offer 3 year ones, or colleges that offer certificates for 1 or 2 year programs.  Some universities have specialized programs for adults/continuing education students which are designed especially for students who have jobs and other responsibilities which prevents them from registering as a full-time student.

I LOVE to cook!  One of my favorite hobbies of all time!  Drives me crazy being here in the dorm and not having a kitchen!  Fatali, you asked me several posts back about my new game...it was a "two-for-the-price-of-one" special...two more ND games--"The Secret of the Scarlet Hand" and "The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake."  Both games are awesome...amazing graphics!  Only used hints when I had no idea where to turn next--proud of myself.  Going to skip all the posts about college--but did get to register for my classes at 1:00 today--got into all of them, so as long as my last five classes are offered next spring  I GRADUATE!  *does the happy dance*
