1 Quick Q & 1 Quicker Thought

Hi!  :)  I'm new to the forums, but long-term in the love of all things Daventry.  KQ VI was my first, both as a KQ game and as any real computer game too, so it's nice to revisit the Land of the Green Isles!  (I, of course, played the entire series multiple times thereafter.)

Okay, so my question is this:  Is there a transcript of the final cut scene for Episode 1?  I missed some of the words being said (which are likely the most important parts to understanding the plot line), and I'd rather not have to play through since my last save (back at the Docks) if there is a transcript available hiding somewhere online.  If not, I guess I can try skipping through all the other interceding cut scenes.    Right so secretly, the game designers made is super easy to skip cut scenes by just clicking through once, rather than having to click through each person's dialogue.  Another excellent decision.  Also, I've turned the subtitles on, which should help.

Second, here's my thought:  What is this nonsense with there being stairs on the Isle of the Sacred?!  And not the "riddles and puzzles, Cliffs of Reason" kind of stairs that Alexander used, but the kind you just meander on up as if one might stroll into the Sacred Ones' city any ol' time one pleases.  Is there a reason (narrative, not game) for the stairs?  I guess I'm not particularly bothered, but it'd be nice to have a connector for the change of heart of the Sacred Ones.

Oh, and I have absolutely nothing but love so far for Phoenix Online Studios, TSL, and the game play.  I'm absolutely astounding and enthralled and overjoyed that the episode kept so true to the scenes of KQ VI, and that the story of the Royal Family is being woven further with greater detail and beauty.  Please keep up the wonderful work!

Welcome to the forums!

The team explained the new stairs (and lack of Cliffs of Logic) as a product of reduced tensions between the previously feuding isles. Since the isles had re-established good relations at the end of KQVI, the high-ups on the Isle of Wonder, it seems, decided that their Cliffs of Logic, designed to keep foreigners out, were opposed to their new view of their relation to the other isles.

The team actually wrote an article about this. Let me see if I can find it...

Here's the article:

"The Cliffs of Logic Come Down

For centuries, the Isle of the Sacred Mountain’s upper reaches have been barred to visitors by the fact that they are utterly unreachable except through magic. The Winged Ones’ [sic] have always only sent emissaries down to the human world to conduct official business, and staunchly refused to take down the Cliffs of Logic that barred those without magic or the power of flight from visiting their city.

This refusal stemmed from the Cliffs' involvement in an ancient prophecy, a representative of the Isle told the Four Winds. Once [sic]

King Alexander proved to be the subject of said prophecy by conquering them, their purpose was served and they were no longer necessary. When asked if the removal had anything to do with the Crown's requests, the representative claimed that this was a matter of coincidence only.

In place of the potentially fatal questions, a grand and gorgeous staircase is being built into the cliff side. Winged One architects are personally overseeing and working on the construction. "We wouldn't trust the design and building of such a magnificent and important staircase to any one not from our island," said the foreman. Nor will they accept help from Shamir's magic.

The staircase is scheduled for completion within the next year. The Four Winds will continue their coverage of the construction, and we are working on securing an insider's tour of the Winged Ones city upon it [sic] completion."

Aha. Thanks.  Sorry you went through all that work.  I hadn't gotten around to reading the 4 Winds yet.  Are the issues on this website different than the ones in game?  Or the same?

It's no problem. I enjoy hunting for information.

There are several more FW articles that aren't in the game, though navigation through the articles is a bit clumsy at the moment.

Here are links to all three issues. As far as I know, this is all that has been published.

Thanks again! :)  I see the articles also explain the missing Senses Gnomes and how the Isle of the Mists was so easy to sail to.  And Crispin's section is a hoot!  (Owl reference not intended, although it would be nice to see Cedric again.)
