So uh, I stumbled upon this on the Gamespot website--and I don't think I was supposed to be able to.  This was just posted earlier today and isn't even linked to the main page yet or given a numerical score.  But the written review is complete.

Turns out the game is good (who knew?) but is buggy as hell--also not terribly surprising, given past Elder Scrolls games.  However, this one seems to be buggier than most, if the review is to be trusted.  Hopefully they will patch some of the more glaring issues sooner rather than later.

If I had to guess, sounds like it's firmly in 8.5 territory, score-wise.

I read somewhere it's launching with a day 1 patch, so hopefully that'll help.

Ah, I hadn't heard that.  That's certainly encouraging.  :)

Yeah, I heard about the patch, but I think I'm going to wait for the GOTY edition. I'm backlogged in games right now. I don't think there is much point buying it now when by the time I can play it, all of the DLC will be released. But it definitely looks like a game I could get into. I was turned off by Morrowind and Oblivion, but Skyrim looks so much better. It's possibly because the third-person fighting looks a lot better and doesn't slow the game down.
