Hi everyone, the article I am about to post is really something for the dev's of this game to keep in mind and keep the team motivated.

Here is the link.

Interesting... But I believe the KQ9 team will fare better than those guys - they seem to be better organized and more dedicated 8)

judging by the PR moves and forum alone you can see the excitement and communication between both fans and devs (to keep em motivated) and devs and devs (to keep em cooridinated) Ive only seen one other project with this kinda fan base... unfortunately is was linked completely to one lead person... when that person quit, it collapsed. Fortunately, KQ9 seems to have enough developers and no sole support on any one person. It has my faith! :)

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

As a Director I appreciate your concern, I read it and its quite great to see another experience at first hand, its exactly what we've been taking care of since KQ9 Team is what it is nowdays, the team was a completly different team before 02 and a whole different one after 02 because Cesar took over and things started to get serious, we do have a coordination effort, management, deadlines, schedule, mision and vision as a team (as a whole), we do have from specialized teams (art, programming, web, pr) we do have a solid structure, even though we are not payed for this project we do devote to this with all of our effort hence showing up on GI as well as the previous magazines as gamespot, computer game world, the inventory were not a lucky call, it shows how ppl do notice us and respect us due the fact we try to work with standarts and rules that makes us a serious creative group tying to achieve a goal the most professional possible at our situation, anyhow, I really appreciate that article it sure gives us a list what to take care of, thanks :)

After reading the page, there is actually a lot to comment on.  I'll just start with communcation. In many ways TSP is similar to KQ9, but it's also very different.  When I joined the team, there was already a set organizational structure with departments, directors and staff.  I even did some research before joining here, like checking if any other KQ9 sites existed.. how long this project's been going on for, any information I could get.  I was a huge forum lurker too for almost a month.

Anyway, I learned that a lot of work had gone into this project, and that they weren't going to go away any time soon.  The forum was pretty active as well and a lot of the KQ9 directors and staff used to post around here as well, check the archives yourself!  I knew communication was the key in an Internet-based company and from the forums and when I joined the team, I learned that for myself.

We communicate through this forum, MSN, e-mail, Yahoo Groups, (sometimes even YIM & AIM, though I don't use those two that often).  I talk to at least one person from KQ9 at least once daily, and check here at least once daily as well.  The only exception is when real life takes over, but even then the last thing I check at night or the first thing in the morning are these forums. :P

Yeah, I never lost faith in this project :) just that article caught my attention when I saw it and thought you guys should see it :)

Best of luck to the team and I can't wait till the game is made :)

Hmm. Granted I haven't exactly been around many fangames, but... while I have encountered other fangame companies with large fanbases, I think this is the first I've come across where an effort is made to involve the fans in more than just talking about the projects. So I personally appreciate all the hard work you guys do.

tsp's project is what happens to most ambitious projects that fans start up.

KQ9 may well get completed a few years down the road, or it might collapse .  We'll hope KQ9 doesn't go the way of tsp, but I for one am not holding my breath.

Look at it this way, Beer... if the game suddenly goes belly-up tomorrow, they can always release the entire finished script and a crapload of art as fanfic, at the very least. (In other words, things are going along quite nicely.)

Beernutts is skeptical - P4P was just meanie  >:(

And though the game release would cure most of the skeptics, there will always be a couple of unsatisfied people badmouthing it :(
It's our job to crash them down, show them the door and kick them through it :P

No, P4P chose to leave and good riddance, says me. Beernutts is our every-few-months-drop-in pessimist.

Though yes, I think I would prefer beernutts over P4P...the latter didn't really care about anything and was downright insulting. Beernutts at least acknowledges what IS already done and seen, he just puts no faith in the project reaching completion. Also, he's not insulting without provocation.

Jeysie, if KQ9 doesn't get completed, I do hope they would release what's been accomplished, but, past projects that didn't get finished that I was actively following never released they're unfinished product, and I would be afraid KQ9 would do the same.  In particular, the old Ranger Gone Bad 3 and Royal Quest both had alot of substance completed, but they never relased any of either. :(

Psst, I have faith, just very very little :)

Storm

I don't see why they wouldn't release the KQ9 material if they can't complete the game... I don't know anything about Ranger Gone Bad 3, but AGDI had a pretty good reason for not releasing Royal Quest 8)

And it had nothing to do with the reasons in the article (I think). :P
