HR was very cool, but it's not the first game since the last Sierra/Lucas games. Can't really say that if you haven't played all the other games in between :P Dreamfall comes to mind.

From what I heard, Dreamfall is as much an adventure game as MOE is and everyone seemed quite unfulfilled and disappointed by it. So I never considered it. That said, The Longest Journey apparently was pretty good. I have yet to finish that one. But I certainly don't count Adventure Company snooze-fests like Syberia. So if Dreamfall is anything like that then it can go straight into that category too.

Actually, Dreamfall is nothing like MoE. Yes, it does have some combat, but very far and out in between, and it is, in most if not all cases, avoidable through puzzles or a far more peaceful approach (which is one of the game's highest point, the different ways you can approach a situation). As for everyone being disappointed by it, I think that's really far from being truth. The game was extremely praised in many aspects. Dreamfall Chapters is one of the most anticipated games by the adventure community. The only "problem" at its time was that it was too "easy". But it certainly surpassed TLJ in many ways, especially because it was a very cinematic experience. The game is beautiful, always feels alive and is extremely immersive environment wise --you truly feel these places you visit are alive --and the story and the way it's told is incredible. And it's definitely more of an adventure game, especially if you compare it to HR or Indigo Prophecy. You should give it a try.

Another game that I really enjoyed was Broken Sword 3. Yeah, they overdid it with the "box puzzles", but the game was really good. Broken Sword 4 on the other hand was horrible and completely uninspiring.

Then there's Gray Matter. Certainly not the masterpiece I wanted it to be, and it falls short in every way. I would think that you would find this one a "snooze-fest", and I wouldn't blame you. I personally enjoyed it, and found it in places beautiful, but it's not up the standards for today.

I don't consider Syberia one of the greatest adventures ever. I think it's highly overrated. I don't think it was a snooze fest, but I don't see how it was so praised. Dreamfall, on the other hand, ranks as one of the best games I've experienced, even more than HR (and I enjoyed HR a lot). Especially for adventures outside of the LucasArts/Sierra period. Again, you should give it a try.

These are some very good reviews on the game:

As a proud owner of a Kinect, i would have to say that it is the perfect thing to revive the Adventure Genre

I just bought the kinect, and im disappointed. The technology is good. The games aren't. Someone needs to put out an adventure game for kinect that can show off it's true potential. I mean, it allows you to really be immersed in the game. It's a whole new way to interact with video games, and the games for kinect right now are plotless party and dancing games. Adventure games tend to have amazing plots, and the gameplay mechanics are adaptable enough to work with kinect. I'm still waiting on my kinect version of myst. Once thats out, I can die in peace. I mean, myst is an amazing game (in my opinion) and i think it's got the right stuff to really showcase what kinect is truly capable of. There's a lot of stuff crammed into kinect, but the technology is being under-utilized right now quite frankly. I just wonder if we'll ever see an adventure game for kinect...

It'll be like the Wii, when the Wii first came out the game wheren't very good. Eventually they will improve and become better.

Well, if it's as good as you say I might pick it up sometime on a Steam sale or something. I do haev it on my Steam wishlist so if anybody wants to gift it to me out of the goodness of their hearts.....:D. But either way I have to finish TLJ first.

i seriously have to buy that game from steam now that I know it's on there. But, I am still in the middle of The Longest Journey, and I must finish that first and foremost... And a bunch of other games too. I can't yet comment on Syberia, but I have purchased it from Gog.com.
