I've watched these "lightsaber" battles, and while they're fun - they're definitely amateur.  In the end, it's always just two dudes having fun, video-taping what we all did in our backyards as kids.  Only difference is someone used After-Effects to make the sabers glow.

Also, personally, I've always felt that duels are an exciting element to add to an overall storytelling; on their own, they're pretty boring.  A fight without a story is just... useless.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I watched them.  They'd be much cooler as part of a larger story--on their own they are just a novelty--and a short-lived one at that.

Well, I'd like to see what Ryan Wieber can come up with next. For all we know, a story may be in the works. And on the topic of Star Wars fan videos, anyone watch the webseries Chad Vader? One of my favorites. I love it. Give it a watch on youtube if you haven't seen it yet. And from what I hear, a TV show is in the works for it. Or at least it was a while ago.

Yeah, Alexander does have it going on.  He's on my list of fictional characters that make me say, "wait...am I still straight?  I think I'm still...yeah...yeah, I'm still attracted to women.  For now..."

Nice videos, though it does open the door for the question as to why Jedi and Sith don't just use their force powers to shut off their opponents light sabers all the time.

Oh, and I'm assuming that everyone has seen the Redlettermedia Star Wars prequel reviews?  If not, here's the first video for Phantom Menace.  I'm not going to link them all as this review alone is in seven parts and 90 minutes in length.  And he's done reviews as the Plinkett character for all three prequels.  And all the TNG Star Trek films (though the prequel reviews are funnier because, let's face it, Star Trek movies are quality.  Star Wars prequels...well...they barely qualify as "movies").  Oh, and there's adult language so if you get offended by that kind of thing, or over the fact that the narrator is a sociopath, then you'd do well to not watch.

Incidentally, the reviews make the same comment Blackthorne did about the duels.  They really need to be part of a story, otherwise they're just pointless eye candy.  I'm in complete agreement.  Everyone gushes about the Darth Maul duel in Phantom Menace, but I never liked it.  Yeah, he's got a double-bladed lightsaber, but so what?  For my money, the best duel was between Luke and Vader in Return of the Jedi, when Luke for that brief moment, goes to the dark side and just beats Vader down.  And the low key vocals in the background are more dramatic than Duel of the Fates ever could be!

LOL, I never thought of Alexander like that, but I have always liked him in a platonic way. He's such an heroic and honest character.

 I first started playing KQVI about a decade ago, when I was stil a kid. So I didn't notice or care about Alexander's appearance. He's always just a good guy to me.

Doon, you have to be aware of who you're talking to. A gay guy and a bunch of girls. A lot of the discussion is likely to shift to whether people are hot or not...

That's odd.  I have plenty of gay and female friends, and we are consistently able to talk about less shallow subjects than "who is hot and who is not."
