Title: New Year's Resolutions!
Post by: KatieHal on December 19, 2011, 01:10:57 PM
Who's got some? What are they? What's your philsophy on them--great, stupid, maybe you've got your own twist?

In college I once met a person who instead of resolutions made goals--as in, things they wanted to do in the next year. Like read books, travel to certain places, study a language, etc. I thought it was a pretty neat approach.

My New Year's resolution is to not conform with the crowd who says when a year "begins" and when it "ends."

My resolution is to hold back less in my criticisms of things I dislike or disagree with.

Yeah - that's obviously a big problem for you. :P

I don't generally do New Year's Resolutions.

My resolution is to spend more time with my friends and family, as well as spending more time doing the things I love. I hope I can achieve a sense of accomplishment through this. Through work and school, I feel I'm far too stressed out all the time, and I want to enjoy what life has to offer.

This. I can't emphasize enough how important this is.

I'm sure it sounds pretentious, but I've been dealing with depression for the better part of the last 4 years, and if there's anything I've learned it's that taking time to enjoy things you enjoy, to improve yourself to give yourself that sense of accomplishment, and to spend time with people you enjoy the company of are absurdly important in life.

That sentence kind of got away from me there, but you get the point. XD

Basically, what FD said. ;)

When you have to work to be happy, you realize how absurdly important it is.

Okay, for real this time:

After a hiatus of the better part of a year, I resolve to start working on IA-related art again.  It's so easy to find excuses to be too busy--and I AM busy, especially now that I've got a baby in the house--but the reality is that I still ultimately find time to do things like play Skyrim and Dark Souls, when I could be doing productive work for my buddies over at IA.  So here's to that.

I suppose I have done a fair amount of bug testing, critiquing, and idea-manning, so I guess it hasn't been a totally unproductive 8 months or so.

I resolve to continue being the most awesomest human being on the planet.

I probably won't stick to it, though.

LOL.

Well a big one of mine which is more goal than resolution is to be doing game design/PR as my fulltime job by the end of the year. Once I can do that and get more of my nights back, I can get back to training for my black belt test and hopefully get that done in 2012 as well.

And if I can squeeze it in there, finish writing my novel Ghostlight, too! :)

I promise that I will lose some weight, just to prove it's possible, and then gain it back.

I resolve to make no reolutions. :P

I've tried them.  I've failed them.  I suck at keeping resolutions, so this one might actually work. !!!

I have few achievable things I do each year. Mine for 2012 is:-

* PRIORITY- Sleep. This sounds stupid to others I'm sure, but I now hove some serious health issues that I shouldn't do due to what could primarily be lack of sleep. My more refined goals here since it's not a clear resolution:-
-Bed time of 12pm at latest as of when I took on the resolution. Sometimes keeping it...
-Bed time of 10pm at latest as a regular thing by May 2012

* Drink more water and less coffee. I've cut right back, but I need to cut back more to ACTUALLY only 1 a day, and not 2 or 3 if I'm tired.

* Move out of the house by Easter. No exceptions. I can't let anything stop me this time. I need my independence.

* Get back onto Slayer's Game. Just need to crank the handle with that. Momentum will do the rest.

* Draw Narcolepsy! (Not live it of course)

* Learn to sew. Like a boss.

That's me :)
