Ah, hyperspace Arsenals. I think if I ever get to making an adventure game, I'm going to do away with the very term of inventory and move directly to hyperspace arsenal, assuming it isn't copyrighted or trademarked.

Bag of withholding... as D&D calls it.

Is that the American name? I know it just as a 'bag of holding'.

No idea, I don't play D&D, just saw it listed in the index of one of the books I was looking through. It might be a separate item?

No, it's just a bag of holding here too (says the big time nerd & RPG gamer!)

D&D questions should be directed to my friends. They created a whole club at our High School for it. I never got into it (Translation: I've never played it...)

That makes sense. All the measurements are in imperial. Drives me nuts, but as long as I don't campare things to IRL, I'm ok. 5 feet becomes just a square that represents 5 to me when I game.

Heh- my gnome just got a bag of holding. She needs somewhere to store all her gold and planium powder, mining pick, and her gold pan ;) Oh- and her gypsie gear. She's so fun ^^ LEvel 6, and she hasn't hit 30 HP yet. She rolled 3 ones for HP in a row! She's a cleric! She should have double that!

If you think conversions between metric and imperial is confusing, you should try dealing with measurements which have the same name, in spite of having completely different values.  For example, a conversation I had about a month ago:

Someone: I saw some really expensive socks for sale.
Me: How much?
Someone: 30 dollars.
Me: That isn't expensive.
Someone: No, I mean that they cost 30 US dollars.

Heh- Coming from NZ I get that a lot. That and colloquialisms. I once offened an RP channel by telling a character that they should get changed into some shorts. Now, in NZ and other ENGLISH english speaking countries, Shorts are short trousers/pants/longs. summer clothing. To Americans, they are like underwear but in what we call a boxer format, ie, everyone in the PG13 forum thought that my character was being fresh with another character. I use 'mate' a lot when I RP too. To us, it's friend. To others... a little closer. I'm constantly looking up Americanisations on the net there. They don't bother giving me that benefit I've found. It's frustrating. I ended up changing my signature to 'Forgive me- I'm not American' so people remembered that I say things that don't always mean what they think it means.

Feet to meters is OK if it's around my height cause I know I'm 5'7", but besides that, I can't handle imperial. Whos great idea was it to divide everything by 12?! That doesn't divide out cleanly! I have to deal with it though. A lot of wire, drill bits, screws etc... at work are in imperial, and I need to know that 3/32 is 2.4mm and stuff like that T.T

What makes it worse is I think only America still uses the imperial system. I'm pretty sure that everyone else has moved on :( I may be wrong about that though.

The thing about America is that within the country, some regions have different words that refer to the same thing. Some say "soda" and some say "pop" but they're both talking about carbonated drinks like Pepsi and Mt. Dew. Now, I've never heard anyone use the word "shorts" to refer to boxers, but I suppose there could be a region that uses that terminology often. Typically, in my experience, shorts and boxers are the same as what you would call shorts and boxers.

Actually, it divides cleaner than the metric system.  For example, a third of a foot is a clean four inches, a fourth of a foot is a clean three inches, etc.

Of course 60 is a better number than 12 for a measuring system.  That's why the Sumerians based their measuring system on the number 60, and why an hour still has 60 minutes.

Wow...I've never used "shorts" to refer to boxers/underwear. For me, "shorts" are the short pants for summer clothing.

For a lot of people it would be more like "I forgive you for being American." ;D

As I've said in another thread- I don't have an ego, and I'm not good with sarcasm. I'm not the type of person to write that cause to me, that's dissing most of the forum (most of the forum was American), even if they all know it's just a joke, I don't want to upset anyone. I'd rather let it be known that I'm from another country than to put down theirs.

I know you wouldn't. :) It's just that some Americans think the whole world revolves around them, so it's no wonder people in other countries can get a low opinion of Americans. :-\

Now I'm spotting some irony there XD Perhaps DD shouldn't have become such a popular nickname for me...
