Title: Curious about the Music
Post by: draconum on April 18, 2004, 11:31:27 PM
First off, the music that I have heard so far is amazing.  I'm very impressed with the skill, talent and time that has clearly gone into its creation.  I'm no expert on music, but I've been playing music since I was five, so I at least know a bit :)
My question regarding this is if, once the game is released in all its glory, there will be any kind of separate music package that could be downloaded, and then burned onto a CD.  (More or less a KQIX Sound track).  I don't honestly know how much extra work that would be, and if it's a lot, well, I withdraw my request.  However, from what I've heard, this is music I would love to be able to listen to outside of the game environment.  I hope others agree with me on this!!!
So, good luck, keep up the amazing work, and I'll see you around!

Well, the music on the site may not be featured in the game.  Definitely not in it's current form.  Most of these are rough and they have no specific scene that they are designed around.  Plus they are in dire need of some reorchestration - but I'm just saying that because I wrote the Alex and Rosella themes (and I don't like the versions that are on the site ;))

You're critical about your singing, too, so I think you're...er... reverse biased? ;)

Peace & Luv, Liz

*sees no problem with the beautiful music he's heard, wonders if Mike will compose the next famous classical piece to be performed by London Symphony* :)

Maybe whoever did Graham's theme should orchestrate the music, becuase that had some good sound. I'd like to see what Nightmary's theme would sound like if it was orchestrated with that sound card. ;D

I think Graham's was by Jonas and he has some wonderful soundfonts.  I have some nice new instruments too that I would like to try out with the KQ themes I wrote.  But I've got too many other KQ9 related things to be working on at the moment.  Perhaps when the voice recording is done I can play with more music :).

Mike, out of curiosity, do you have a Soundblaster card? If so, is there any way to load Soundfonts without having SoundHQ?

You don't need the actual AudioHQ, but you do need the actual soundfont loader (I don't know the name of the program exactly).  I have a Soundblaster Audigy.  I did install the AudioHQ because I like having the folder easily accessible so I can bring up the mixer if I need it or the soundfont loader.
But I didn't install all the other c**p that Creative wanted to install along with the Soundblaster drivers.  I just wanted to the soundfont loader and the mixer, really.  Oh, I think I installed the recorder as well, but that's about it.

I have no idea if I answered your question or not, though  :'(

liamharveste, not sure if you're interested but theres a mini discussion about soundfonts going on here (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=684;start=60).
