That's because there is no announcement yet. They'll announce probably a week or so before it's out. Last time they preempted the game, it was rushed and put out with bugs. This way, they can get it done, play test it fully, and not destroy themselves in the process. Please be patient. Enjoy the company of the forums in the mean time :)
I'm going to move this to general discussion, where it belongs. Also, please don't create excessive threads asking about episode 4. I realize this is your first one, but we've had many people asking about the release of episode 4. We don't have anything to announce at this time. So far as I'm aware, there is no internal date set for it, let alone a public one. We're taking our time with this episode to try and avoid the mass of bugs that occurred with episode 3. When we have something to announce, believe me, you'll know.
Well we had an internal date but the cookie famine on Mars forced us to push it back.

I don't have programming, animation or art skills myself. I possess writing skills, (hopefully) some PR skills, and some minimal ability to beta-test. There's more to a company than animation or programming; all these facets work equally. There can't be a game without preliminary art, a storyline, or some PR work to get the word out.

All the 3D objects are textured with 2D images, which you seem to be good at. I don't know if we need help in that department though.

For the 4 Winds? I'm looking into to it, but I can't do anythign till after Easter. I am SO busy you wouldn't believe. I have a major convention in Rotorua that lasts 5 days. I'm not running it, but it takes alot to plan for it >.< Every night has a theme night, clothes, gear, ANZAC stuff...

I'm trying to get through to the end of April, and then I'm free to work for Phoenix as much as they want me to.
Would you be able to offer a rough ballpark? Are you hoping to release it this year? Next summer? After the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup?
Do you have any rough ideas on when you plan on starting testing (alpha, beta or otherwise)? I know it's hard to say dates because people will inevitably hold you accountable for them either way and I apprecai-, aprecia-, am thankful for the time spent on this project for a free game (Ep3 was amazing despite its bugs).
We're already doing testing and yes Episode 4 will be released this year. Nothing more specific than that however.
Who should I contact about volunteering to be a tester for this game? I'm getting quite good at crashing the game now and might be able to break it further given early builds.

I know people are excited but we are working really hard to bring you a quality game. As stated we would like to avoid a buggy release.
Episode 3 was big for us not only in sheer content but a lot of personal passion and excitement.
So I think we want to keep that true to the overall rest of the project and give the remaining episodes some more TSL before we release it into everyone's hands to enjoy.

They do indeed. Rich, for example, ruined the end of Laura Bow 1 for me while I was just starting the game. Right in front of him. At his house. After we'd all been talking about how I'd never played it before.

Don't watch the TV show. It was one season and it AWFUL. There are reasons it did not last. Ugh. I tried twice to watch it, and each of the 4 episodes I watched was just...UGH.

Now just wait a sec, think of the TV show as CSI Vegas meets Harry Potter and ignore the fact that the main character is named Dresden and you got a decent show, Albeit make sure to look up the correct order to watch the episodes in because even on DVD they didn't put them in the order you need to watch them in.
Eh. The fact that they wrecked Dresden so much doesn't help, but IMO the show was pretty piss poor all on its own either way.
Anyways, point is, if you're at all interested in the Dresden Files, just go read the books. :)

When was Episode 3 out and when can we expect a Trailer for Episode 4
Episode 3 came out back in February. As for a trailer, I do not know that information.
Any idea why it takes this long to Release Ep4 or is it because they want to release Ep5 just as close since its made from scratch.
More than likely, it's to make sure the release of epi4 is stable, which is extra difficult since what was to be episodes 4 and 5 is now compiled into epi4. That is, if I understand correctly. Either way, it's a LOT of loving labor to get each piece of this golden treasure made. This is a dream for all of us, so we all want it - big time! As long as the world doesn't end before this work is complete, I'll be ok.
We are working on Episode 4, fear not, but we aren't ready to give a release date. We learned from Episode 3's release that we want to be absolutely sure the build is good and that we aren't rushing ourselves, both to avoid the bugginess and to avoid having to announce a date only to push that date back later.
I'm with the chorus in favour of Phoenix taking its time. Take all the time you need to make Episode 4 as good as possible.

This makes sense, and I'm sure we all want the game to be of a high standard, and are willing to wait.
All I - and I'm sure others - are asking for is, if possible, to get an approximate date, say a month perhaps, when you believe the release will be ready in. Now, no one is (or can) ask you to commit to a date, and if that month comes and you can't make it, just let everyone know and we'll be fine with it.
It's just the not knowing what to expect part that is driving people mental.

The idea of not releasing a date was to not give up people's hopes if they can't make the date. If they give a month and dont' make it by then, will you ask again? I'm sure that they'll advertise the release date of part 4 as an accurate release date closer to the time. We wanted it to be released when it was ready- not by a set date. If we want that, then we can't get approx months.

The main issue here is not the specific date, it's communication. People need to know there's a set goal, something to look forward to. Afaik, originally, the release was set to May (at least that's what I believe I read here, and on Wikipedia). That came and went, and from the looks of it a release in June doesn't seem likely as well. With these semi official dates coming and going and the lack of any other set date, people may eventually despair and lose interest.
If you set an approximate date, you actually give yourself more "quiet" time to develop the game without constant, annoying questions (kinda like this thread ;)). The way to mitigate slip ups in dates is, again, through communication: keep people constantly informed of the progress in high level, and of the difficulties involved. If people know you have a goal, and that you can't, objectively, finish the job in a satisfactory way by the original date, they'll be much more forgiving if you change it, because they'll feel they're part of the process.
This is the first I hear of a May release date (of course, it's obviously way past).
I can only speak for myself, but the fact that three episodes have been already been released makes me confident that episodes 4 and 5 will come at some point. Now, if a year goes by and there's no Episode 4 I might start wondering what's going on, but short of that, I am OK without a release date or approximate date. And since episode 4 is going to be the original episode 4 and 5 combined, it makes sense to me that episode 4 will take more time to produce.
I'm not against progress updates - indeed, I would find updates interesting. However, I am also OK with there being no progress updates until it's close to the actual release time.

But like I said, we learned our lesson with Episode 3--we announced a date that was too early, had to push back a month, and even then we rushed the episode out for downloading and didn't get to test it properly, resulting in a lot of critical bugs we didn't catch. If you're worried we aren't working on it and aren't being active, I encourage hanging around the forums--a number of team members post here regularly, even if not about the game directly, and we stay in communication with the fans.

If I remember right that is not the only place I've seen a May release date, I believe (though I'm not hunting down the post) someone posted a comment wanting to get the episodes released 3 months apart and that's why people keep thinking the episode should be released by now because its been 3+ months since the last episode was released.
I think I know what happened. Like Halgroda just said--we stated when Episode 1 came out that our hope was to have Episodes release 1-3 months apart. Episode 3 released in February, so probably May came from someone estimating the 3 months out from that point. Whoever may have said it, though, there's never been an official date, vague or otherwise.

Yeah a lot of things have come up for us since we originally were planning on the 3 month goals. This has been a very busy year for us and we have had to put some focus into other things in addition to TSL so we haven't been able to finish Episode 4 as quickly as we originally would have liked. It is coming along very nicely though, and we will be putting up more information about its progress as soon as we feel more comfortable with doing so.

The puzzles seem to get better with every episode. Nothing like kicking yourself for spending hours on a puzzle only to find the simplest answer right under your nose the whole time. Keep up the good work, folks.
