Title: Forum search function not working properly
Post by: Enchantermon on June 15, 2011, 07:25:08 AM
I'm still not sure where to place forum bug reports, so I apologize if this is not a good place.
The forum search function seems to be bugged. I just did an Advanced Search for the word "Avatar" in posts of any age (0 to 9999 days) by any poster (*), but only in the "Gaming Talk," "Off-Topic," "Welcome to the Asylum!" and "Express Your Creativity!" boards. I got five pages of results, all of which were posts dating between 2003 and 2006. None of them were this post (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=10586.msg326102#msg326102), which was made just yesterday, and I'm pretty sure there were other posts about the Avatar movie that should have shown up as well (though I can't prove that; those are the posts I was searching for in the first place ::)). Anyway, this leads me to believe that something is amiss with the search engine, hence my post. I'd appreciate it if someone could look into this whenever they have the time. Thanks! :)

It's always been doing that. :P I remember Neil complaining about it in 2005. :P

Agreed, the search function is pretty much useless, unless you know exactly what you're looking for, in which case you could probably find it by manually traipsing through the forums.

I also can't figure out how results are ordered. It would be handy to at least have results ordered by when posts were made, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they're listed. Which means that if I'm looking for a post made a month ago, it'll be lost among posts from 2004 or so. ::)
