We girls get on our tangents around here, and I know from growing up with my dad and brother that girl issues can make guys...erm, uncomfortable to say the least! So I figured we chicas needed a spot away from the main threads to post about tampons, bras, clothes shopping, etc. without making any of the guys here feel like they're in a henhouse.
Of course, boys are welcome here too, but here's the disclaimer: we WILL probably go into detail, so be forewarned. You can never unread what you read here! :sneaky:

To continue my tangent from the other thread, I'm a plus size (22/24 in US sizes. I have no idea what that translates to in international sizes). I have found clothes that fit but it can be a frustrating process. I'm not that rich right now so I can't break the bank for a new shirt or bra. A lot of plus clothes are expensive. I have a giant jelly roll stomach that I hate. Like a shirt might fit everywhere else but my stomach sticks out so bad. I don't wear dresses because I think I took pregnant. :-[
If you're that self-conscious about it, you could try using a girdle. I often do for a few days post-OP when the swelling and inflation haven't abated yet.
You can buy them at JC Penney. I've been in a loooooooooooot of weddings lately, and they've come very much in handy. Good advice, Deloria!
In other news, I'm a week late on my period. Damn Mother Nature for wiring me improperly!!! >:(
For most ladies--obviously Deloria's got rather unique issues--I definitely recommend the pill for regulating one's period. I had a very erratic schedule that was only vaguely predictable and it was SO nice to be know when I would get it and how long it would last (which also became shorter) after I went on the pill.

My wife is around that size. I know she does a lot of shopping at Just My Size (http://www.justmysize.com) and Woman Within (http://www.womanwithin.com). I know she's gotten some nice things at Lane Bryant and Coldwater Creek, too. I don't know how the prices are. That last one tends to be a bit pricey, I think. :-\

I likewise mainly go from the Recent Posts page... I have come to think of this as the way people who use forums use forums, :P though I have in the past (I'll be bluntly honest: when Baggins was posting constant walls of text in the Off Topic forum) wished that I could restrict it by channel (like being able to say: "Show me Recent Posts ... from the Asylum", etc.).
I shop at Lane Bryant all the time. My mom buys a lot of my clothes for me right now but I'm not sure I'll be able to afford them once I get my own job. I do like JCPenny's. I have some dress pants and crops from them. I've never used shape wear before, though. I usually just avoid dresses period so I don't have worry about it.
My doctor offered to put me on the pill because I bleed pretty heavily that time of month and I have an iron shortage. But I didn't do it because I worry it will possibly mess up my anti depressant combination. It works for me and I don't want to have to change it.
That's another tangent that irks me. The birth control debate. Not all women take it as a contraceptive. Some need it for legitimate medical reasons.

I did this when I was 14, was on the pill for a while because my blood disorder made my period so heavy the first year I ended up in the hospital.
My mother made sure to point out that just because I was on the pill didn't mean I could start using it for its other purpose though. :P

There are non-hormone based types of birth control as well. IUDs come in two varities, hormone-based and the copper IUD. (I've actually not gotten my period at all since getting mine, and I know that's normal for having it, which is also nice so I don't have to worry about that fact.)

Interestingly, hormonal contraceptives can have an anti-depressing effect, depending on your condition. And yes, most women go on hormones that happen to have contraceptive properties

I don't know how it is there, but here they tend to only give copper IUDs only to women who come from circles in which one is ostracised or considered unfeminine for not having periods as it actually causes you to lose considerably more blood, carries a considerably higher infection rate, can give you heavy metal poisoning and are generally a really bad idea. :P
I suppose in brief, really, Kristen, I'd say ask tell your doctor your concerns about the drug interaction and ask him/her for more information to that end.
Deloria: Really? Weird. No, there's no opinions like that over here that I'm aware of. I do know the copper ones are less..."controlled" in terms of regulating your period in comparison to the hormone ones, but I didn't know about the infection rate and such.
I'm not really interested in doing it right now. I put up with it and take a Midol if the cramps get really bad. It's been my routine for 10+ years and I don't want to change it. The worst of it is... 3 days at most? I can deal. Plus I already take 6 pills a day for various illnesses. I rather take less, not more to keep me functioning.

I will never have the patience to grow my hair that long! It gets to my shoulders, at most, and I get antsy and chop it back up to my chin.
For my part, straight, though I admire those who can rock the wavy and have it look good. Mine has waviness in it, but it never looks that good when I try to go with it.
Could it be because it's short? wavy seems much more into long hair, just look at Delling, he's got a wavey maneeeee :D
To me hair is so important because sometimes I'd be all day giving a speech or any corporate event and reason enough not to have like 10 pounds of make up on me yet I've got to look decent (unless there are cameras, then that's a whole different story about the make up thing - hopefully there's AC in there, lol).
It's so frustrating because for work purposes going into events, conventions and whatnot it's a constant travel sometimes in one day so it's not like I had much time to make much of it. However I looked is how I had to present myself and present my department and the company.
Advertising, Marketing and PR affairs and amazingly demanding of stamina and personal image. So boring hair is not good, undone hair is not good and of course messy hair is unforgivable - wanna get fired?! lol
Wavy! I know my wife's hair gets more wavy when it's shorter. It's never been shorter than mid-back or so. She actually cut her hair for the first time when she was in her late 20s or early 30s.
Either straight or wavy/curly can look nice, though. My sister's hair won't hold a curl for very long, so she wears it straight.
I seriously believe some short haircuts looks way too darn cute all curled up :D

This is something long hair taught me: you cannot be a perfectionist with long curly hair. There is no magic fix that stops 100% of the tangling... *shrugs* unless someone here can tell me otherwise. :P

Try a conditioner that specialises in repairing hair and get a Tangle Teezer hairbrush. :P

I've done this hairstyle on myself a few times with some success. I've figured out I can't be in too much of a hurry doing it, though. Need concentration on each piece and which side to pin.
