Title: Spell Structure!!
Post by: Oldbushie on November 06, 2003, 11:51:44 AM
Oooooooooh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A spell *structure*!!!!! ;D

I'm really looking forward to that, I remember KQ3 had you make magic items and KQ5 had 4 actual spells you used at the end, but I haven't seen a real spell structure yet! ;D

That's what the programmers tell me.  It all depends on how easy it is to implenet not only the interface (including inventory and spells) but also the special effects we want - rain, snow, particle effects - fire, etc.  So, it's going to be awhile. :(

That's excellent.  And while I haven't read the whole script, I wouldn't put it past Cesar to include them ;).

Sounds kinda neat to me, too. So, is Alex the only one who will be "slinging spells", or do the rest of the folks get to try out some sorcery skills?

Peace & Luv, Liz

Cool! I'm sure a "Zap Connor" spell will be in there too, as we wouldn't want to disappoint Storm! ;D

We'll make a special spell just f or Storm's copy of the game.  Storm - zap Connor to your heart's content.  We'll make it so that you can zap different body parts and watch them fly and fry! :P

What the heck? This thread is like 2 years old! XD

I'm more shocked that the thread revivor wasn't Bushie (even though he made the thread). XD

Bushie didn't actually made this thread - it's a split from another thread. I don't know which thread, so it's possible Bushie made THAT thread, but not this one, at least not intentionally :scholar:

Every once in a while some random poster goes on a thread-reviving spree... you'd think that big, red-lettered warning the new forum gives out when you try to revive a thread would stop them, but noooooooo ::)

And, while reviving this thread is a bit pointless as there are newer threads discussing this subject, I noticed something interesting:

Quote from: mfortunato on November 06, 2003, 02:41:44 PMThey all have "spells".  It may be magical items, not actual spells, but the interface will work similarly for all 3 characters.  So all of them will be using some sort of magic.

This is interesting, since here (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=2769.0) Yonkey says only Rosella and Alexander can actually cast spells :S

That's still correct.  Graham doesn't cast spells, but all of them will be using some sort of magic.  8)

They do? lol

yeah, I guess you can say that.

Originally, I had planned Graham to use magic directly. It wasn't going to be a spell, but it was going to be an amulet that would allow him to control the elements. It was a really neat idea, but after discussing it with some of the guys, we decided Graham was to be mostly inventory based. That leaves Alex and Rosella. Rosella uses a combination of inventory based and magic (since she has a lot less spells than Alex), and Alex is REALLY magic based. I think he uses the inventory like 2 or 3 times top.
