Title: A Note to Our German-Speaking Fans
Post by: KatieHal on February 01, 2013, 03:18:09 PM
Hello German fans! Welcome to our site and thank you for your support of Cognition and Phoenix Online Studios.

While we were able to provide German subtitles in Episode 1, we unfortunately were not able to do this for Episode 2 due to some production delays. However, we very much want to provide a German translation for the game again; most likely this will happen after the release of Episode 4 as a patch for the game.

We understand if you're disappointed; we are, too. We greatly value our German fans and how much they love adventure games! Which is why we hope to correct this later in the production cycle for Cognition.

Thank you again for your support and we hope you enjoy the game!

Hallo deutschsprachige Fans!

Hi Katie,

as Episode 4 has been released some weeks ago, do you have any news about translated episodes 2-4?

Kind regards,
Eric

Hi Eric--unfortunately, I don't have any concrete updates on the German translations right now, but it is still something we would like to expand into the other episodes. As our sales on Steam have been going well, though, that does make getting this done more of a possibility in the coming months. At this point, though, I wouldn't expect any change until sometime in 2014 at least, though.

That's such a pity! I bet you are pretty busy with producing Moebius and the Gabriel Knight 1 remake so translating an already existing game is not a high priority for you. Luckily at least Moebius will be subtitled in German.

Regards,
Eric

Hi Phoenix Team,
I really like adventures, also especially by Jane Jensen. I bought the Adventure at Steam because you made here the comment about an german translation. But how is the current state? I still wait with impatience more and more :(
Especially because in June 2014 there will be at Amazon a release of a physical version (without information about the language state). I can't imagine that it will be only in English.

So I hope that you will have finished the translation soon??

As you can read here

http://www.adventurecorner.de/news/5307/deutschsprachige-boxversion-kommt-diesen-donnerstag

the German retail version DOES have German subtitles for all episodes (still no German audio).

This could mean that the German subs are not property of the German publisher Crimson Cow (they probably had made a new syncho) and they should be included in the release you can buy here too. It would be great if this could be confirmed because I already have the item in my cart just waiting to checkout which I will do after getting the information that now German subs are available for all episodes.

I would really hope that at least we'll get an answer. I am almost ready to give up the game completeley because of the lack of a response.

Still no reply :(
That's it for me. Won't buy this or any other game from a company that does such a crappy support.
Sorry guys!

Hey everyone,

We are working to confirm when the German will be more widely available before making an official update or announcement. We do appreciate your patience and we anticipate having something more solid to announce on this soon!

Thanks
Katie

Did you not see Katie's reply?

Be patient! It's only been a couple weeks since her saying that.

I've seen it, but I've been waiting over one year on the subtitles And before this time must come new infos to ask yourself before because what comes from the support I have to wait no more pleasurable And if I have to wait again for 1 year now and up next year then I think about the three times before I again buy a game here.

That is why I asked if there is an estimated time when this news will be available. I don't know how complicated it might be to answer this question. I am no game developer or publisher. If you would ask me as a customer, I'd ask the one who was responsible for the subtitles if the rights are exclusive and if the subtitles will be included in the digital download. That would not take more then a couple of hours I would presume. But I might be wrong about my assumption because I am no game developer or publisher so I asked whow long it takes to get such informations.

Now it has been nearly a month and still no reply. Guys we only want a simple answer. No need to reassure us anything just tell us if the german subs will come or not. I want to buy the game but if the only way to get it with german subtitles is in germany then I will have to buy it in germany. Please answer ... anything.

Sorry for the long pause between replies--it IS coming. Right now, as you can imagine, we've been hyper focused on GK. Once that's released, we'll be able to get back to a number of things that we've been wanting to finish up and release, like the German Cog translation. :)
Title: Re: A Note to Our German-Speaking Fans

Thank you Katie for the reply (that is all we want and off course we understand that you guys are focused on the release of GK). Just to clarify things: do you mean that the German Translation is coming to the digital versions here, on Steam and on GoG or did you refer to the answer to the question if the German subtitles will come that is coming soon? You just said "it" so I am not quite sure what you meant with "it".

Edit: Never mind. After reading your post again, I finally understood it.

"we'll be able to get back to a number of things that we've been wanting to finish up and release, like the German Cog translation. :)"

"finish and release" being the keywords here. So the German translation WILL come (probably after the first GK problems have been fixed) and so it WILL be included in th edigital releases as well. Sorry for not understanding the fist time. Now I just lay back and wait until the German translation will be updated in the digital transfers (hopefully this will include Steam and GoG) and then I will buy - simple as that :)

It's been nearly another month since the last reply and the release of GK has also happened.
Any news when we can expect the German subs for the other episodes here, on GOG and on Steam? I don't mean to push but silence is awkward ;)

Hi Marko, sorry we didnt' answer sooner, but I'm pleased to say that German subtitles for Cognition have now been added to all digital stores. Depending on which store you're playing Cognition you may need to re-download the game to play the latest version. Hope you'll enjoy the new subtitles! :)

Yay! These are such wonderful, wonderful news :). GOG (where I bough it) has not updated yet but sometimes it takes them a while. I assume they already have received this new version and will update it soom. Thank you again very much and excuse me if I sounded a bit bitter in the last posts.

The GOG update should go up soon. With any luck it will be available tonight.
