So, I've noticed the problem with the pictionary game is not everyone feels comfortable drawing.
So why not try a similar game, but one that doesn't require drawing skills?
The idea of the game is that one person creates a poor (but accurate) description of a game or a movie and everyone else has to guess it, first one to guess it right describes the next one.
As people give you wrong answers you're free to add extra hints/descriptions
Examples:
Person A: You wear orange and you jump
Persbon B: Super Mario
Another Example:
Person A: Your hometown has less then 10 people
Person b: Final Fantasy?
Person A: Nope! The only person your age is a huge jerk
Person B: I have no idea
Person A: There's a Scientist in your hometown that gives you a choice of 3 beasts
Person B: Pokemon?
Person A: Yep, your turn!
Sound fun? :P
I'll start first!
There's balls and ghosts
Pac Man?
yep!
Also, should I sticky this thread? :P
I already did!
Ok...
Your girlfriend has been kidnapped by a gorilla.
Donkey Kong
Pretty sure it's Donkey Kong, yeah :P
Yep. :)
Okay, you wake up and find your father dead and your throne usurped.
mmm... Fire Emblem?
Nope. You have to beat demons into submission.
mmm.... I'm afraid I never played that game :P
unless maybe... Demon's Crest?
Dungeon Hunter
just as I thought, I never played that game... heck never even heard of it :P
Well, I'm not 100% certain it's the correct answer. It does seem right from my recollection of the game. I think it's an iPad only release.
a shame I don't own a tablet
There are three games in the series, and I believe the release of the fourth is imminent. The first one was quite good. But it's your basic hack and slash RPG. The second one improved on some things and didn't do others as well. I was a little less enamored with it than the first, but it's probably a matter of personal taste.
I have not played the third as it includes microtransactions. As a general rule (although there are exceptions), I avoid any games with in-app purchases.
Oh, and I see actually that Dungeon Hunter 4 has been released. It also looks like to me that the sequels (but not the original) are available for Android devices.

I swear iPad games look better and better every year
Sorry for the delay. Stupid life.
Nope. An angel in training keeps bothering you about love.
Actraiser? :P
Was your father murdered, Oh God of the land with a Cherub sidekick?
I have no idea, but this is hilarious. I'm getting a really weird impression of a game/movie that's basically Hamlet on speed. XD
Yes, I'm totally lost too.
And I was wrong about Dungeon Hunter. In the first one, you're the king who has died. You've been resurrected to save the kingdom from..well, your wife who died and you resurrected, but she turned evil. (ok, so it doesn't make much sense). Anyway, you awaken in your tomb.
In DH2, you're the son. But Daddy's not quite dead yet. This time you have to rescue the kingdom from your brother who has turned to evil. And you wake up imprisoned in the middle of nowhere, while your brother has usurped your throne.
Really, this is a seriously screwed up family. Even Shakespeare didn't create families with this many issues.
Oy vey. I'm either really good at describing this terribly, or no one has ever played this game.
I'm hoping someone gets this: Your vassal commands an entire army of incompetent penguins.
Disgaea?

Disgaea?
dingdingdingdingdingdingdingding!! We have a procurer of victory!
Your turn.
Woohoo! :D
Alright, a movie...
A horse neighs every time a certain woman's name is said.
Young Frankenstein
You win! :D I guess you can go again then.
Don't feel bad Terra, part of the fun is people not guessing :D
Should I take LadyTerra's turn? I don't mind, but I'm afraid to stealing her turn :(
Go for it. :) Gotta keep this alive!
mmm... alright:
Eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything
Ummm... a game where the protagonist has poor spelling and grammar?
Blake Stone?
wait, you're really not familiar with this old meme? :P
I know the meme but not the origin. XD
alright then umm... you drive vehicle and shoot aliens :P
Zewo Ring? Please tell me of the answer correct. ;D
you there's a woman who 'lives' in your helmet :P
Sorry about that. I've been a bit busy. Take my turn with my blessings.
Halo. It's Halo. I've never played the series, but I at least know that.
yep, your turn GrahamRocks :P
*nudges GrahamRocks*
:(
You go on an adventure with a princess, a thief and your dog to save the world from evil. Along the way, you lose both your mother and your twin brother and develop strange powers to help you fight.
I have no idea what it is... but it sounds pretty damn epic! :o
Fable?
I haven't played Fable 3, but it doesn't sound like the first two games
Mother 3? :D
yeah, that's the one I was thinking of, but I never actually played it :P
Aw, darn! Too easy! I was hoping for another "Lady Terra".
Your turn, Bushie :D
Hurray! :D
This is a game: You travel through millenia, fighting monsters.
Chrono Trigger?
Your turn. XD
Mmm.... You're angry, very angry, very very angry
The Incredible Hulk? :jealous:
nope, you also never wear a shirt
Another hing: you kill Gods
God of War
Yep! Your turn ;D
Okay! It's a sequel to a board game that is a PC space shooter. There are four levels, each with their own theme music and boss. After each boss, you collect new parts to your ship that upgrades it.
The only thing that comes to mind is Zathura because I don't know of any space-related board games.
The game I'm talking about is on the computer, but is the sequel to a board game. Sorry, should have worded that better.
I meant it implies that the original board game is space-themed in some way, and I can't think of any. ;)
Space Hulk?
It's not a game made by a professional company.
I has no idea
I haven't the faintest idea. I just don't know mah boardgames. :/
To me, it all still sounds like Space Hulk :P
which by the way you should all play
It was made by four college students.
now it's starting to sound like D&D except the sequel part doesn't apply :P
D&D was made by college students?
Wasn't Gary Gygax in college when he and his friends created D&D?
EDIT: Oh! Apparently not
Might be mixing it up with Ultima, since Richard Garriott basically made a ton of games called D&DX (Where x is the number that he was on), when he was in high school. I feel like Ultima 1 was originally like D&D26 or something. XD
EDIT: Akalabeth, the precursor to Ultima, was D&D28b. :P
I have been thinking a lot about Ultima lately, so that could be it
I hereby request another hint :P
It was made over the course of a month.
It had a programmer, a sound designer, two artists (one to find the sprites online, another to add photoshop effects), and both artists also helped with the manual.
The game, despite the 8-bit graphics, was made just last year.
Super Amazing Wagon Adventure?
Organ trail? (I really have no idea)
chess?
Faster Than Light, which is loosely based on Red November (a board game in which gnomes are in a sinking submarine) in terms of gameplay?
Quote from: stika on May 13, 2013, 08:20:37 AM
chess?
Chess was invented by the Time Lords, not four college students. :P

No, there are no gnomes in this game. All your characters are humans.
I think you just won, Grahamrocks, none of us know the right answer :P
Oh, you want the answer?
Well believe it or not, the answer is...
Escape from Planet Lovecraft. Yes, I shamelessly plugged my own game.
Do you guys remember that board game for college I made with my team last semester called Escape the Hyacintho Sol? Well, for our final, we were originally going to adapt that game into an RPG in Game Maker, but unfortunately the instructional video for RPGs was missing, so we couldn't do that.
So instead, we decided to make a sequel to our board game, making it a Space Shooter called Escape from Planet Lovecraft. The plot according to the manual was- after defeating the final boss (Great Captain Cthulhu) aboard the Hyacintho Sol, with the last of his strength, Great Captain Cthulhu slams his hand on the self destruct button attempting to take you down with him!
You escape in the nick of time an escape pod and blast off just as the ship is exploding! Sighing in relief at your escape, you soon crash on a planet. You look in horror as you realize that this isn't Earth! In fact, your pod crashed on the worst possible planet ever- Planet Lovecraft. Great Captain Cthulhu was only one member of this alien race.
After sneaking around a bit, you and your companions manage to steal a small ship and blast off that rock! Unfortunately, the aliens notice this and chase after you with their army of UFOs and boss ships as you race to not get back home but also to save it from the alien threat!
Personally- and I know this might seem biased -I think our final game was the best out of all of them.
oh... Yeah that was kind of hard to guess, GrahamRocks :P
Gee, ya think? Hmmm... I wonder why?
so why'd ya choose it? D:
Is there a place we can see said game? XD
It certainly sounds interesting, though I don't recall your original thread on the board game. That might have been during my forum hiatus.
okay so no one is replying so... shall I take Graham's place? :P
mmm... it's a movie and there's people in rather silly bright outfits
Oh wait, it was my turn?
Batman?
Quote from: GrahamRocks! on May 16, 2013, 05:57:49 PM
Oh wait, it was my turn?
not sure to be honest, first time no one was ever able to answer, if you want you can take my turn
Okay then!
You are on a mission to rescue your son and daughter.
King's Quest V?
TSL? :D
D'oh!
Hey, after that last "Lady Terra", I thought I'd give you somethin' easy.
So I'm right then? XD
Hmm...
This movie involves a little boy and his dreams.
Little nemo?
Ding ding ding! :D I might have been too obvious with that one. XD But very few people I know have seen it.
hehe :P
okay mine: There's this weird guy in purple, he wants you to see a world of pure imagination

I refuse to answer this by sheer virtue of the fact that you failed to mention chocolate.
If we're being specific, I believe that's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?
I prefer the 2005 version, because I like Johnny Depp and Freddy Highmore, plus they actually follow the book in that version quite well, last ten minutes or so aside.
Somebody likes the 2005 version?
Let the flame wars begin.
Flame wars, hmm....Reign of Fire? :P
Also, there was backstory on Wonka's father in the book? I only vaguely remember it--I think my third grade teacher read it to our class. So...quite a while ago.
No, Wonka's backstory isn't given in the book. That was original to the film.
Whoever was the first to answer Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory gets to go.
P.S. I like both movies, but Gene Wilder > Johny Depp
Yeah, Gene Wilder is much better for that role. XD
mmm... if no one claims the spot, maybe I should make the next game? :P
Alright here I go: Movie/Book/Game
There's a lot of sand and a lot people with blue eyes
That's an easy one. Dune!
See, I wouldn't have guessed that. I know next to nothing about Dune except:
A corrupt society in the future involving some sort of mineral that's found on a desert planet.
Made into a movie... twice? three times? The 1984 version being the most notorious (which gets a mention in KQ2+)
Sandworms that burrow up from the ground, and someone turns into one by the end.
Books being doorstoppers and having many MANY titles in the series taking place over the course of thousands of years.
You are correct Snabbot!
As for Dune, the first three books are very good. The movies all kind of suck
and the first two Dune games are very good
Who's next? :D
I'll make one :P
just give me a day or two to think :P
Okay, movie:
There's a janitor and he's really smart
another hint:
There's a guy there who likes them apples
Good Will Hunting?
Correct! Love that movie! :D
Hmmm...
A common internet denizen is stranded in the middle of New York City.
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and give a completely random guess. Would this be "A Troll in Central Park"? (The troll part was easy. It was guessing the rest of it that I had to hit random Google searches.)
Yep! :D I love that movie. Your turn!
Okay, here we go:
Altered states...
For some reason I was reminded of this:
Nope. You're going off in the wrong direction.
(I'm not gonna make this one easy.)
ummm.... I has no idea! >.>
This one might take a while. ;)
Think north...think south...
uuummm... still nothing. Aaron, wanna pitch in?
I'm guessing something to do with the Civil War.
Quote from: Oldbushie on October 22, 2013, 09:56:10 PM
I'm guessing something to do with the Civil War.
You're getting warm. I'll make things a bit easier. What if the south won? ;D
Hmmm... I do faintly recall a game in which you could travel to different wars throughout history and alter the results...
Darkest Of Days?
That South Park episode? :P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Badge_of_Gayness)
Nope, nope. It's a movie, not a game.
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter? :P
Nope. It plays like a documentary. This one's probably TOO obscure a movie.
*Googles randomly*
This? I've never heard of it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C.S.A.:_The_Confederate_States_of_America
DING DING DING! We have a winner. My dad actually found this one a couple years ago. It's hilarious.
Alright, my turn:
You entered the door on your left.
umm... I have no idea :P
Ok, a hint: The main character's name is in the title.
Also, the game came out within the past few months.
