Title: GrahamRocks' Forays into Gaming!
Post by: GrahamRocks! on May 08, 2013, 09:48:52 PM
Day 1.

My name is Trilby. I am a gentleman thief. I take only from the rich, and only that which is not needed. I am here at the DeFoe Manor to net some goodies from the recently departed owners.

I thought that this would be a simple raid. Get in, grab anything valuable, get out. Simple and easy right?

Wrong.

As soon as I try to get out, the window locks itself. I'm trapped! I go through the door, and accidentally scare off a bloke by the name of AJ. I haven't seen him since.

I've met three other people today- Simone Taylor, a correspondent for the BBC and the only woman in the manor who was going to film a documentary on the house. Philip Harty, a thief- er, treasure hunter, with the same motivation as me. And Jim Fowler, a boarding school student at nearly sixteen who was sent here on a dare from his friends.

Simone and Jim seem nice enough, even if Simone kept pestering me for an interview when we first met. Phil though... seems to be not exactly the most welcoming of fellows. He seems suspicious of everyone, thinking that one of us must have trapped us all in here on purpose.

I don't buy it. If that were true, whoever did would have shown themselves by now. No, it's something else that's trapped us here. I know it.

As everyone heads off to bed, I lay back on the lounge couch in the silence of the manor. Except... there is no silence. If I listen closely, I occasionally hear the house creaking (to be expected I suppose since this IS an old house), footsteps (probably AJ or someone else), and... whispers.

I hear whispers.

I can't make much of what I'm hearing, but it can't be good.

I need to sleep. I'll focus on the task of figuring out what to do to get out of here tomorrow.

Day 2.

I wake up to hear someone moving around in another room. I go out the door to find... Simone, Jim and Phil! All of them dead! Looks like they were all cut by something with a big blade! As I'm staring horrified at the corpses of my companions, wondering who could have done this, I hear the door open again and turn my head.

That's when I see them.

They're wearing a welding mask so I can't see their face. They're wearing a blood spattered apron, and in their hands they carried a bloody machete. "Who ARE you?" I ask the figure.

The murderer steps closer, and I say, trembling, "Stay back! Stay away from me!"

The murderer says nothing... and takes off the welding mask. I stare in shock at who is behind it- it's like looking in a mirror!

I wake up with a start, gasping and heart racing. It was all a dream, thank God! I get up, put on my hat, and try to calm down and act natural.

I go around and see how everyone is doing- Jim is reading a book (Treasure Island) in the dining hall and- wait!- that portait of Roderick DeFoe looks... different. More rotten. I swear I can actually see the bone of his jawline! It's really starting to creep me out, so I move on to the backyard.

Near the back wall, I find Phil. He's searching around with a metal detector. He says he's looking for the DeFoe family tomb, and if he can find it then we can get out of here. I tell him good luck and look for Simone.

Simone is actually in the library doing research on the manor. I ask her if she somehow was able to break into this room, since all the other doors are locked upstairs, save the one I entered and the bathroom. She told me no, that she just found it open. She figures that maybe AJ did it since before I came, he mentioned that he was 'going to get to the bottom of all this'. Unfortunately, none of us have been able to find him eer since I scared him off, so we can't ask him what he meant.

I look through the books and find blueprints of the house. Hmm... something seems off about it. Like there's something missing or something that's not supposed to be there. But I can't put my finger on what it is.

I also find a book on the DeFoe lineage, which says that Sir Roderick DeFoe used to be a big game hunter until he retired at the age of 40 and fell in love with a woman named Belinda. It was he who built this manor to celebrate his marriage and retirement. Roderick loved Belinda dearly but it was not to last. She tragically died giving birth to their only son Matthew DeFoe, who ended up being shunned by his father due to the fact that he wasn't into hunting or wanting to join the Army, but more into art and literature.

Until his 15th birthday that is. When he turned 15, Roderick and Matthew became closer and actually seemed to love one another as any father and son should. They didn't always see eye-to-eye, but it was plain to see that they did love eachother regardless.

Soon after that, both of them disappeared mysteriously. Their bodies were never recovered. Other family members and heirs to the manor tried to take over, but they've all either disappeared or died from mysterious circumstances.

I go back to the backyard to show Phil the blueprints, and needless to say, he's not happy. He trudges off and gives me his metal detector.

Testing it out on the pipeline, I follow the trail until I uncover a panel hidden in the dirt. I press it, and the pool behind me drains of water.

Curious to see if there's anything down there, I go down the ladder to find...

...AJ's body!!!

It looks like his throat has been cut open by something with a big blade! Like... a machete. Oh no...! It's just like my nightmare!

I tell Simone and Phil what happened, which makes Phil even more supicious of everyone, especially me! Refusing to listen to reason, he storms off.

I go upstairs to find Jim and tell him about AJ, then off to bed.

And still, when I listen quietly, I can hear the whispers...
