For me it would be,
1. King's Quest 6
2. Gabriel Knight 2
3. Gabriel Knight 1
4. The Secret of Monkey Island
5. Tex Murphy: The Pandora Detective
Mine would be:
5. Darkseed 2
4. F*ck Quest
3. King's Quest: Mask of Eternity
2. Telltale's Jurassic Park
1. Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
...stop frothing at the mouth. I wasn't being serious.
I was actually about to ask if you were trolling, but in my defense, it's 1AM over here, so my brain isn't at it's best lol
Wait, I thought you said you "tolerated" MoE?
Kinda surprised you didn't include Monkey Island 4, 'cause as far as I know, everyone and their grandma save for me absolutely hates that game.
Anyway, I have not been an adventure gamer (aside from the Nancy Drew games) for all that long, but I'll try my best (and these are all games I've played)-
5. Nancy Drew: Danger on Deception Island/The Secret of Shadow Ranch (Former: first one I beat, and the only one I've played more than once IIRC. Latter: First one I bought, all because it had a horse on the cover)
4. Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express (which follows the book quite well if I recall, unfortunately, I was never able to complete it due to me getting stuck on that stupid safe puzzle!)
3. Quest for Glory 1
2. King's Quest 2: Romancing the Stones/ King's Quest 3 Redux
1. The Silver Lining aka King's Quest 9: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining
I do tolerate MoE, I just included it on the list because I know how much it pisses everyone else off. Also, there's just something about controlling a dude wearing what looks like 40 lbs. of armor and carrying a heavy sword and a heavy bow, with lots of inventory items, who is STILL capable of hopping around the landscape like a homicidal low-gravity Richard Simmons, all the while spouting idiotic quips like "'tis beyond my reach!"
MI4, I didn't include because I actually know very little about the game, having never played it, and only having seen part of a longplay of it. I never finished the longplay because I kinda lost interest, and I was seeing what everyone didn't like about it. Everything else I know about the game is what I've read reviews on (I only heard the control scheme was bad, for instance; I have no experience trying to use it).

The only KQ game I didn't play was MOE. Apparently there's some compatibility issue between the game and Intel video cards.
This is true. Even if you like MoE, it remains an incredibly broken and buggy application that you never have any hope of running properly. Gotta love those early 3D games with their weird system requirements and compatibility issues.
*tilts head* GOG didn't fix this?

If they did, I didn't hear about it.
1. The Last Express
2. The Curse of Monkey Island
3. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
4. Grim Fandango
5. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Some Honorable Mentions: Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within, Day of the Tentacle, Snatcher, Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive, Still Life, King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Syberia, Shenmue I and II(depends on whether you consider the series adventure gamey enough, I do)
1. Grim Fandango
2. Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck's Revenge
3. Legend of Kyrandia 2: Hand of Fate
4. Sam & Max: Hit The Road
5. Flight of the Amazon Queen

How many people buy that KQ7+8 package anyway?
don't know, but they are charging $10 for it, so it better work I think.

Damn, stika. That's VERY close to what my top list would be.
I'd make the following adjustments, however.
1. Hero's Quest
2. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
3. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
4. Sam & Max Hit the Road
5. King's Quest VI (yes, VI--I know, Katie, I know.)
On any given day, this list would be different. I think Kyrandia 2 would JUST make the 6th spot. I had a blast with that game--such humor and atmosphere!

Grim Fandango is pretty fantastic, shame it isn't actually possible to legally purchase.

How is this possible? KQV isn't even on the list!

I did because I hadn't played them before and wanted to try them out. Hated 7 and 8 didn't even work. Oh well.
Considering how Gog.com prides itself on fixing compatibility issues, I find it appalling that they're selling a double game pack, with one of them broken for $10
Have you tried checking the Support area and the forums?
Oh I haven't bought the games, on GOG.com but Graham and br did.
You'll have to ask them :P
I didn't buy KQ, I bought QFG. And I wouldn't know if they fixed any bugs or not, since I just bought not 3 days ago!
I'm wondering if I should try on my machine too... I bought most of the Sierra games on GOG but haven't installed them all, it was more of a "support the genre" move.
Another place to try:

I got MoE working on Vista with help from this site.

Did you ever manage to get it downloaded?
Not on my desktop, but it works fine on my laptop.
That's so weird... :-\ Well, I'm glad you got it to work. The QFG games are a lot of fun (and a lot of pun :P). I hope you enjoy them!
Yeah they work for me, no game breaking glitches for QFG4 ;D
'Kay, good to know! Thanks!
oh, good then. Next time they're on sale I might get them :)
QFG is on my playlist, but it's definitely pretty far down. I have to finish the Tex Murphy series, then the Space Quest series, then the Broken Sword series, then the Leisure Suit Larry series, the the Longest Journey series and then QFG. Of course, I'll be playing the Cognition episodes between that and whatever else Phoenix comes out with. ::)
QFG is far better than Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry.
you all should go play Legend of Kyrandia 2 :P
I adore Hand of Fate, it always puts me in a good mood.

It's gotta be the music. That game has the best "upbeat" music of any classic adventure game I can think of.
1. Hero's Quest I (The EGA version)
2. Sam and Max Hit The Road
3. The Secret of Monkey Island
4. QFG IV
5. Space Quest III

Shame on you, Steve. There IS no VGA version of Hero's Quest.
Technically, Lamb is right.
Blackthorne won't be coming back. I've shamed him beyond the point of no return. Best say your goodbyes now, people.
1 - Gabriel Knight 2
2 - Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
f*** this. I can't make up my mind.
Ok.. let's try...
3 - The Dig
4 - King's Quest 6
5 - Either Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis or Monkey Island 3
And of course, on any given day I'd add Gabriel Knight 1, Monkey Island 2, Day of the Tentacle, Space Quest V, Hand of Fate is a good choice, I played it again recently. Really that or the 1st one are awesome. Darkseed, Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Serrated Scapel, Quest for Glory 1 or 4, Phantasmagoria 1, ah, screw it. I can't make such a short list.
Wait, really? The Dig? You like The Dig? :P

Have yet to play a lot of the LucasArts Catalog, so I haven't played a lot of these. I have played the first Monkey Island though.
You really should, Lucas Arts' repertoire is awesome, I actually like it better than Sierra's
