Title: Yonkey, the psycho(analyst)!

Q, you were a newbie once??  You just fit right in that it's hard to imagine you once were new! :P
Heh, trust me.  I wasn't loved and adored when I first came here. ;P  Even when I joined the team, I remember having to earn everyone's respect. 8)

Wasn't Koko referring to Questie? ;)

Anyhoo. I don't know about fit in per se, but I guess you folks have gotten used to my long pointless rants about everything. ;P

Yes we have :P

I figure we all have to earn the respect of others.  I remember when I first joined, I was so scared that one of the things I might say would be taken the wrong way and I'd offend everybody.  In fact, I think most of us start off cautious, and as we get more comfortable, and as others get more comfortable with us, that is when we come out of our shells.  We obviously know that I have! :D

So? I've known some of you guys (and gals) for over a year now too, but I can't remember those little quirks by heart. :-X

Heh, it's kind of a gift, but once I've gotten to know someone online for a few hours to a day (depending on the person).  I'd be able to spot them anywhere, using any nickname, purely from their "quirks" or "language style".  But that's all assuming someone tries to literally replace you as in identity theft.

What I meant before was that those of you that I've known for a a few months or even a year, I can assure you, no one will ever replace you, because your posting styles and personalities are so different.

I was gonna put an example here, but I think everyone knows what I mean.  ;D

Yep, actually it's because most of us are introverted.  I tend to be cautious of what I say to people even in real life, because I'd rather not offend them too.  Extroverts tend not to care what other people think about themselves.  ;D

I'll agree with posting style. :) On a forum I used to post at, people would change their nicks frequently for various reasons (usually humorous ones). I found that as long as the poster was someone who had made a large enough number of posts, and wasn't cleverly disgusing their style, I could usually accurately track their nick changes.

As for the idea of not offending someone... one of the things I like about the Internet is that you can pick and choose between the available communities, until you find one where you can be yourself without a lot of animosity or backlash. Try achieving that as readily offline. :P Not that I advocate being rude or impolite or anything, not at all! But even while being polite and considerate one can manage to get themselves in trouble just for their natural mindset, depending on where you go.

Of course, when I go and accidentally stick my foot in my mouth yet again, I expect to get smacked, and it's nice to find places where I get smacked in an intelligent manner.

As for caring about what other people think, I care very much about what other people think... probably too much so. At the same time, I tend to speak my mind, both praise and criticism. I try to be polite about it, but it doesn't always work, obviously. :P

Peace & Luv, Liz

Well, since you insist!  ;P  Haha, actually you left the forums shortly before I joined.  I remember you even had a Garfield avatar and Say telling me how "Koko is also one of our regulars and such a sweet girl, but I haven't seen her around lately".  Anyway, when you re-appeared, it was great to finally meet you and of course we never wanted you to get too busy and leave us when school started again.

Ok, getting back to your request, I read some of your posts when I was a forum lurker, heard your reputation as a sweetie XD and when you finally came back to us, it was all reenforced because it was true.  I can usually identify you by your thoughtfulness and reaction to certain topics & comments. :P  Also, there is some religious influence to some of your posts (which isn't a bad thing, but it does tend to make one stand out).  You're also very truthful and honest.

Verbally, you're Southern so there are some expressions (i.e. "y'all") that you say the odd time.  Actually when I read some people's posts I tend to read it with their accent to get a better sense of what they mean.

Hehe, ok I don't think you wanted me to get into this much detail, but these kinds of things are what I can pick out in people and that's why I say no one can replace you.  ;D

Awww...that's so sweet!  I didn't realize you guys (see, didn't say ya'll :P) thought so much of me so soon after I had joined.  And you remembered Garfield!  I hadn't thought of him being my avatar in forever!  The religious influence in my posts: I guess a lot of times it's there without me even realizing it.  Some days, I put it in on purpose, but even then, I try to keep it subtle.  That's one of those topics that can easily offend some people, but also one of the things I will never change about myself.

That post was too sweet, Neil.  Thanks!  hehehe, didn't realize I'd get complimented when I offered myself as an example! ;D

Yup, I used to be the founder of an IRC channel, so identifying people by their personality really helped against imposters using their nicknames and people just trying to be imposters.  8)

Yeah, I agree.  This is why people tend to be more vocal and outgoing online than in real life.  You can literally say whatever you want and the consequences are not as huge as the ones offline.  I mean, the worst that could happen is you get spammed, banned, or hacked.  But you will never feel any real physical pain, maybe emotional but maybe not.

Don't worry, I never said it was a bad thing.  There is religious influence in some of my posts as well, but I try too to keep it subtle and not bias a discussion.  Of course, topics strictly on religion, politics and other heated controversial topics aren't allowed here because of they usually end in vicious flame wars. ;D

Yes they do!  And don't worry...I didn't take it as a bad thing; if anything, it's an even greater compliment :P...Ok, I'm going to let the topic drop for two reasons: one, don't want to get onto a topic that might turn into a debate; and two, I'm about to fall asleep at the computer and my contacts are drying out...good night...zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Split!  XD

Ok Jeysie... Well, yes post length is a good giveaway, but that's not always true. :P  You tend to be very logical and analytical in post replies.  I remember there was some discussion I was having with you and every point you made was valid and true.  Usually in debates, there is a place where people slip up logically and that's where people move in for the kill.  With you, it's very hard to find logical errors and thus makes you a good debator.

Unlike Koko, you are not tied to religious or political bounds because IIRC you're agnostic and prefer Canada's government to USA's (heh, ok this is probably an exaggeration :D).  But I do remember you saying several times that the place you'd feel most comfortable moving to, if you did ever decide to move is Canada, which is something most Americans would never say.  And again, this definitely isn't a bad thing (since I AM CANADIAN <3), but it makes one stand out. :P

Language wise, your signature and the Anyhoo's, Hee's and several other expressions you use point you out for me.  Also, the hilariously sarcastic jokes (not to mention the effort put in to them) set you apart from most people's.

Oh yeah.. when I first met you on the forums, you had literally the exact same thoughts and opinions as me.  At times I thought you were telepathic because you could literally read my mind!  I wouldn't call you the female mirror image of me, but you're probably the closest anyone I know has ever come.  8)

You lucky old veterans!

I like to think i'm past the "sheepish and cowardly posting" phase and into the "geting to know everyone/being recognized" phase.

Title: Re:Yonkey, the psycho(analyst)!
Post by: Jeysie on July 30, 2004, 10:35:21 PM
Hmm, well! :)

I have a tendency to naturally try to be logical and analytical about things. When I do goof up, I think it tends to more be because I was reasoning from faulty or incomplete information rather than bad logic flow... at least, I'd like to think that's the case! ;) I find I tend to be more drawn to hanging out with people who can point out any flaws in my information or premises... several of my online pals are political philosophists to some degree.

I'm not necessarily familiar with Canadian politics yet... I'd do more research before I made a serious attempt to move. From what I've heard of it though, and from the Canadians I've met online, it sounds like a place I could manage to get along in with some work. Plus it doesn't hurt that Vancouver houses a lot of the voice acting industry, and Harrison wants to get into that. ;)

Language-wise, I deliberatly cultivate some of my language quirks, just to be distinctive and/or get my point across better. I do naturally tend to speak like a formal college professor, though. :P And it's nice to know my jokes are appreciated! XD

And... I, too, detect similarities between our thought processes. You come off to me as more level-headed and un-biased about things than I am, though.

Peace & Luv, Liz

J-R was definitely first... I remember he asked right after my reply to Yonkey's profile of me, and only Grundy and Silence posted in between "my" profile and my reply.

What maybe tripped you all up is when I asked, and Yonkey replied with, "I should do Kimmie's first, since it's her thread?" ;)

Ok since no one's online right now, I have time to write up James':

I haven't known you as long as the other regulars here and you were pretty much introduced to me as one of Say's Canadian friends from a different community. :P Of course, the "Canadian" part stuck out, as it does with most of your postings! XD

The Internet is mostly American, so when I see a fellow Canadian, it's refreshing. ;P  And the similarities end there... you're from a different province, finished school, extremely extroverted (I think) and a barrel of laughs & silliness.  !!!

Like Jeysie, you thrive on sarcasm and I can usually tell when you're joking and when you're not.  But I could see how the average person could be confused or offended if they read something you write out of context.

I don't define extroverted people very well, but you remind me a lot of my cousin.  Loves parties, drinks, girls, etc.  You're the life of the party at the KQIX Forum and I hope that never changes.  8)

lol, that's what I thought! :P  But now the line is just you ahead of her, so I'll take your comment as permission to butt in line.  XD

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! :P Hahha ok, there's a few obvious things that come to mind when you see a supah Say post.  OMGWHATTHINGSWTF?!  ;P  She'll always be the one with the most posts and it's rare you'll ever find capital letters in them; but when you do you better watch out, cuz she means business!  XB

I've gotten used to her from MSN mostly.  Cesar was trying to pretend to be her once and fool someone.  He had the language and emoticons pretty good XD, but he's slower at typing.  ;P

Heh, anyway, you can see how easy it is for me to get off topic when talking about Say, cuz there's too much to "Say"! ;-D  You could call her the queen of the forum because like me, she can find something to say in every thread, no matter what the topic is or who the person is that said it.  She's not afraid of anyone or anything most of the time, and in some ways actually reminds me a lot of my sister.  ;D

When I first joined, I noticed Say as being the warmest one here to welcome me, and even some comment I made in my first thread was directed to her (I didn't even know her, but she was so sweet <3)!  Considering I wasn't really a "forum person" at the time, and usually just use message boards to get questions asked and answered, she actually made this community stand out to me because she showed that these aren't just KQ fans, they're real people with real personalities.

Language-wise, English isn't her first language it's Spanish (like Cesar), but even still she picked it up really well.  So, sure, you'll find the odd spelling, grammar or translation error, but that's not a unique thing.  Heh, even I make tons of errors, which is why you see all the "Last Edit" stuff in my posts.  :P Lots of people who have English as their second language have these problems (and they are far worse, btw XB).

You're absolutely right about Say making us feel welcome.  I remember her when I first joined, but since I really didn't know everyone and didn't hang around like I do now, I really can't point to specific examples.  But I do remember coming back...and Say's first post in reply to my "I'm back" post was that she actually remembered me!  A girl with a memory like that?!?!?!  I only made about 50 posts, and disappeared for 9 months and I wasn't forgotten...by Say or by Neil!  I still find that amazing!

I only slacked off worshipping Storm because she's been making fewer posts!  And that's been in my siggy since I *started* worshipping her. :P
And Kimmie, the reason I go first is because I have worshippers and I asked.  Storm would go before me if she'd asked, but she didn't.  NOW Neil can do you.  Or, uhm, your analysis. ;-D

And now for Kimmie!  This was split from her thread anyway, so really she should have been the first one.  XD

Actually, it took me a day or so to think of Kimmie's because she's tougher than I thought.  I remember meeting her when we were having one of those group MSN chats, and all of a sudden Jason invited her in.  I hadn't even read her first post yet!  :suffer:  Oh, and Alex made a thread for her when she registered.  If that's not charisma, I don't know what is.  :P

Ok, you can spot Kimmie by her glowing text, glowing personality and glowing heart.  She has the occasional sarcastic joke, but always makes sure to add smiley to let us know she's just kidding (I do the same too :P).

She's gorgeous and definitely not camera shy.  And she loves Photoshop. XD  Kisses, hugs, and all that lovy-dovy stuff is in Kimmie's posts, so you can't miss em. <3  ;D

Oh yeah, the other cute thing about Kimmie is no matter how stressed with work, school, whatever she is, she can always find the time to talk to you and make you feel better.  :)

but u forgot that i can be slightly insane!  XD

was i really that hard to analyse???  :S

i shall analyse neil...

Neil, the guy who I thought had total control before i heard of this Say person ( <3 u Say). He is the guy thats always working hard but then always finds time for the simple people aka me!

He has an amazing, stunning, wonderful voice, its like OMGNEILISSOTALENTED  XD

He seems to like these icons  XD XB and his input to posts are usually quite clever!

anyway, this had been a crappy anal...ysation, but im not an anal...yst  XB

Yes, we should analyze Neil!

Neil is the guy who always knows his techy stuff and explains it to everyone, but without being condescending or snobby.

And he uses mostly good English, but throws the occasional "u" sort of thing in there.

And he likes to make crazy comments, and join in on :suffer: ing!

And he's always on hand to kick the server back into shape when it goes wonky.

Peace & Luv, Liz

It's really not that hard, running an asylum, as long as you've got the right personnel helping you with that. Anyway, although I have a Ph. D. in psychology the actual therapy is not done by myself. I work "behind the scenes" reading the reports filed by my psychologists 'in the field' and their progress and give advice on how they should proceed, if necessary. 8)

Hahah yeah I use the XD icon a lot ever since Say told me about the letters X and D being a face! XD

Jeysie, heh, I used to use a lot more shorthand for things.  It's a lot easier than spelling the whole word out, and most of the time people know what you're saying.  ;P

Getting in on the :suffer: bandwagon is the best part of being a KQ9 Teamster!  :P  It's so cute when newbies thinks it's the laugh icon and use it in their jokes.  Makes em seem more... "meany".  :P

And I wanna hear CC's analysis before I do his, especially since he has a Ph.D in psychology! !!!

I feel like I'm jumping in a little late to analyze Neil...Kimmie and Jeysie pretty much said it all...but I'll add just a little:

Neil is a techy guy who doesn't mind when the non-techy people (me) jump in and ask his opinion or for help. He doesn't mind that it's really the only time we get to carry on a conversation (mainly b/c I know he's busy and don't want to bother him unless it's "important")  He's also a true friend--when a problem needs to be solved, he's right there to take the reigns and take care of everything.

Ok, I just got back from Catwoman, hoping it would help me out with CC's profile.  It didn't.  :P  But I'll save that for the Movie thread...

Copycat/Bob's personality is much like a cat.  He's creeping around the forum reading all the posts, but only steps in when necessary. 8)  One of the things I like about him is that he's very clever and some of the comments he makes can passively change the whole direction of a conversation.  I like doing that too, but it doesn't always work.  :suffer:

There are a few other things that make CC stand out.  He's the Asylum Manager and a manager in real life, so he's not afraid of telling people his opinion, or doing what he feels.  His responses to the psychotic people in here are the coolest. XD  But he does respect people, the rules and acts within reason.  ;D

I believe Alex was the first UK regular to dominate our forums a few years ago, before I even joined!  Say mentioned him a few times and he was on the team before in the Four Winds dept.  When our site crashed a year ago and we switched servers, I was able to import some of the really old posts (alex's included).  From these I could tell he was a KQ9 groupie at heart XD, and I asked Say to try to get him to post here again.

I got to know Alex more by MSN than by forum posts.  Strictly looking at posts he's like a huge music-loving, party-going supahstar! :D But from MSN I got to know him a lot more as this caring and thoughtful little dude, even from the messages he wanted me to relay to Say if I saw her. ;D

In some MSN group chat, I mentioned that it would be great to have Alex on our team again, since he was on it before and was already completely aware of the rules and since he has some spare time over the summer.  As soon as he became a forum mod, his personality became more apparent.

OK, how to identify his post?  Well, when he's really excited, you get to hear some British slang! XD  He's usually in a good & goofy mood and like Kimmie's, if you take a post offensively, just read it with a British accent and it takes on an almost completely different meaning.  ;D

Ehrm, when did I mention I was a manager IRL? I don't manage anything but my own work. 8)

BTW, another reason why I can't analyse you is because the time most information is stored in my short term memory is really short, and the scarce parts that go through to my long term memory usually don't involve you. Memories of people I meet/have met IRL have more chance of 'flowing through' to my long term memory, but even they degrade after a certain time. Did I mention my memory sucks yet? :-\

Actually, the post you linked to, was when I was just found to be competely un-dependable. Before that incident (and shortly after), I was the righthand-man. Yep, I'm not his secretary, that's someone else, apart from the assistant and myself. And then there's my helpdesk-colleague, who's been described by my department head as the one responsible for our little helpdeskteam, whilst that would be me. Then there's the one responsible for our relocation to the new building we're going to move to within the year. There's the fellow worker who's taken over some of my tasks, so she also server as bookkeeper. So yes, everybody has several assistants.

I had completely forgotten that Kimmie submitted auditions!  Must have been before I knew who the heck she was!

*ducks away from Kimmie's swipe*

I think Kimmie's heroic is the closest to her normal speaking voice, but of course, I've heard very little of her.  Alex's evil is closest to his normal, out of his three auditions, but it's not quite right.   Sad how I know that :P  And I think that's the one I transcribed for him! :P

Actually, it reminds me vaguely of a British version of AGDI's The Father. XD

And it looks like he never sent in the comic one he made... the one where he attempted an American accent.  I think I'm remembering right... XD XD

Great auditions!  :)

*guesses amount of people that have auditioned*

*guesses at amount of voices required*

I guess Chinchilla and Kimmie are going to be in the game. lol

P.S. An American on the forum, should send in an audition, using an English accent(comic audition). THAT would be funny.

XD  But he does respect people, the rules and acts within reason.  ;D

Here's my analysis of Jafar. :P

Jafar is a man-eater.
I think deep down inside, he's angry at the human race.
Jafar was probably ill-treated as a young marshmallow, and it's very likely that people viewed him as food to eat.
Jafar's probably in self-denial, and eats others to convince himself that he isn't food.
It is my belief that the sooner Jafar accepts the fact that he is meant to be consumed, the happier he'll be.

You only got one thing wrong, Swift. He's not just any old marshmallow, he's a Peep! And though originally intended for consumption by humans, the far more customary use of the Peep race has been its employment in the age-old but tried-and-true sport of Peep Jousting! :suffer: :P

A Peep is a marshmallow covered with a thin lair of sugar. They are normally in the shape of bird, and sell well in the US, especially around Easter. :)

OMG I R QUOTING MYSELF! XD  But yes, now at least I have some time to write something up.  Well believe it or not, Jafar and Cesar are pretty similar.  They show their goofy sides here on the forum, but they also have serious sides to them.  I read some of Jafar's posts at AGDI and Hero6, and was pretty shocked that he's way more than living cotton-candy!  :o

Cesar's goofy side was apparant to me before I even joined the forums.  When I was a young lurker (not even a newbie) I read posts from him, Say and others talking about his blonde wig and Batman obsession with killer monkeys (yes, we were insane well before Haven, mangos, and sporadic postaholic groupies ;D).  Anyway, when I read these conversations, I realised that this team is filled with real people that have fun, while remaining completely dedicated and committed to the project.  For those of you that have had jobs before, think about which ones you enjoyed the most, then consider the working environment and staff you worked with.  Chances are the staff and/or management were friendly, funny or positive and as a result, this contributed greatly to your enjoyment.

When I joined the team, we used to have (and still do) really silly group chats/meetings. You guys have probably experienced some of them at Chamber. :P  At first glance, you'd think these just waste time and productivity.  And I'm not saying they don't ;-D, but they also bring members closer together by boosting morale and showing that we are human and not just "monkeys". ;)

Of course, Cesar isn't goofy 24/7.  He has a serious side, rewarding side, workaholic side, demanding side, and a b***hy side, but then again who doesn't? ;P  When you combine it all together, you get our flatulent little Lolita.  He's definitely a character, but one that you'll meet and never ever forget.  8)

***gets the post from the guy from Ontario. :P

Dennis A the Junior Burger ;P
QuoteMemories of Spudnuts do tantalise us for a long time, don’t they? Just to give your Spudnut thread an international “flavour” I thought I should write to tell you that Spudnuts made it over the border to Canada in the 50’s, if not before. I sold Spudnuts door-to-door in ‘61 and ‘62 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada (across the International Bridge from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan). Our Spudnut shop was a typical 50’s Soda ‘n Short Order out front with the Spudnut bakery in the back. It was truly “roadfood” being located on the Trans-Canada Highway passing through Sault Ste Marie. I didn’t make a lot of money selling Spudnuts that I didn’t spend out front were I was introduced to ice-cream floats and the Toasted Western (Denver) Sandwich. The owner was an innovative young businessman who was one of my first inspirations to go into business as a career. One of the fringe benefits as I remember was having all the day-old Spudnuts you could eat! http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/icon_smile_blush.gif To this day I have never eaten such light donuts made any other way. I don’t recall the flavour being that different from good raised donuts but the light texture was their outstanding feature. I have thought since that the Spudnut Shop must have been a franchise because all of the Spudnut mix came large bags elaborately logoed “Spudnut ...”. Hahaha, I was just looking at this thread the other day too. XD

Ok let's see...

Rosella:
You stand out in a crowd because of your obvious attention to grammar. :bob:  Besides the odd "fwee", "fopmuffin" and such XD, you are far wiser beyond your years.  Back when you were new, I actually confused you with rosellafan, even though she's more than twice your age! XD

Other than that, it's pretty clear that you're a caring individual that puts a lot of effort into whatever you do (yet you still haven't finished what I asked you to do ;P).  I mentioned this to Say, but I definitely see you as a prodigy.  You're going to have a really great future. :)

Jafar:
What, you didn't like Swift's analysis? ;-D  Actually, now that I know you much better, it's a little easier.  Adding to what I said before, your personality really shows in this community rather than any other.  In fact, when I visit other places, I can see how the majority of them don't appreciate your unique gift of being creatively funny.  Ah well, it's their loss. :suffer:

I used to recognize you as the pink marshmellow of the forum, but even as you switched from Kirby, to Lemming, to Megaman, our favourite little :jafar: always shone through.  Similar to Rosella, your gift is your creativity, so don't ever let that fade. 8)

Actually, Tessy had a great suggestion.  If procrastination is surrounded by his closest friends, they'll act as the support system he desperately needs.

Tessy, you try to call laziness (hopefully he isn't too lazy to pick up the phone :P)  Delling, you try calling forgetfulness.  He should have no problem answering, but let's just hope he remembers our friend (or more importantly, who HE is). XD

I'll just program the biometric system to recognize his biometric 'signature' and let him through on his way out if/when he chooses to.

We've procrastinated on this long enough now... I think we can either release him under his own recognizance or take him back to the asylum to be kept for observation.

I shall labor to take him to the asylum so that we may do the second.

Come along, Procrastination.

*heads off towards the asylum with procrastination in tow*

Did you bother to read my previous post in this thread? Procrastination is free to go where he chooses. In or out of the Asylum, I don't care.

Oh, yes, I read it, but I thought it best that we keep procrastination for observation so that we could try not to procrastinate... sort of keep him under lock and key so as to... ... ...*procrastinates mid-sentence* ...ASSUAGE... assuage bouts of procrastination... such as these ellipses ... these here...

I think procrastination ran off while I was procrastinating...

That is the VIP-section, when you look at the overview of the different forum-sections on the TSL-forum, is it not?

Hmm, I guess.  Personally I just consider all of Haven for V.I.P's, rather than just the overview. XD
