Now that some or most have played Chapter 1 what is your Wishlist to Patch the First Chapter that would Improve Gameplay for 2-5
Dont tell me how good or bad the Game is or giving me your review, just a list of Improving the Game.
01. An actual Intro to the Game, i dont want to play Chapter 2 and repeat the Well part to the Mirror with the ending of the Dragon again.
02. An areal view map of Daventry with fast travel locations to Discovered areas, or if no fast travel, atleast let us Sprint by giving us a button we can set to use as sprinting
03. A Physical Copy of the Game for Stores, since basically theres No Manual or Hints or any Info on the Characters and the Actors, all of it you have to find somewhere around the Internet that doesent tell me everything about the Game. I mean New Players who has never heard of KQ cant just blindly Buy and Download a Game when theres No Manual with just a Free Wallpaper.
04. A Save/Load System with many Save Slots. Im all for a Game with Re playability that has diffrent results, but there has to be a Save/Load System.
05. Skippable Cutscenes are sorely needed, there are times when i have to sit through the same cutscene again or when i replayed the Game so many times, i just want to hit the Skip key.
06. Viewing our Inventory Items in the center Mirror Window for a bigger view when we arent standing infront of something to interact with, then the item should slowly spin around for us to marvel it.
The intro to Chapter 2 is basically Chapter 1, so I'm extremely doubtful they would just have us play the well again.
Since they aren't even releasing the game on GOG currently, it seems they're very concerned about piracy and I doubt we'll see a fully DRM free version until all the episodes are completely done at the very least. Making a physical version beyond that is quite a bit of work so I wouldn't hold my breath. Best we're likely to see there is a digital manual of some kind. Maybe.
I do agree that it would be great to also have a manual save/load system, and the ability to skip lines and cutscenes.
I noticed the Change in Graham's Clothes at the Beginning Intro as to how different they look through out Chapter 1 :P
A more serious overall tone and less "modern speak" dialogue... those are probably my only complaints though.
The Potion Shop Owner is abit creepy with he's odd tastes thats just out of place for the Game and whats the deal with licking the frog and later after you beat Acorn, he modernize in talking to you on how you piss him off, i mean this is a Fantasy Game for Children.
Sure i suppose the KQ Series was all 2D and cute in the day, but if your gonna take the seriousness out of the KQ franchise like Disney is doing with their fantasy like Cartoons and bring them out to Live Movies that has a maturity in them, then bring maturity to KQ where we see how Cruel Manannan to Gwydion really is.
I like Disney's versions of those stories better. They're not miserable and depressing, like the originals. I wouldn't want to watch a Hunchback of Notre Dame movie in which Esmarelda dies and Quasimodo buries himself alive with her. Or a Little Mermaid movie in which Eric marries someone else and Ariel dies. And it's 'maturity', by the way.
Also, was it really not cruel enough that Manannan kidnapped other boys before Alexander, and killed them all just as they turned 18? Or that he'd disintegrate Alexander, if he so much as picked up a dead fly wing or a chicken feather- just because it happened to be a magic spell ingredient?
Creepy magic potion makers are nothing new either, really.
Anyway, yeah, it would be nice if they took out some of the modern terms like "kinda sorta." I seriously doubt anyone ever said that in the middle ages. A map would've been nice too. Not necessarily of the magic variety, but just a way of knowing where everything is. Other than that, I just wish there was a save/load feature. I haven't spent so much time on a game in one sitting, since the endless setlist in Rock Band 2.
I would like to see them expand on Alexander's character, if indeed he does show up (really hoping he does). Their characterization on Graham was great, and they made him really likable, but again the modernized dialogue kinda ruined it for me a bit. Still, a nitpick I guess.
That reminds me... shouldn't Gwendolyn's hair be black instead of blonde? Alex and Cassima both have black hair, after all.
How could a guy with black hair and a redhead have a blond daughter?
But Gwen's a brunette...

I thought Gwedolyn's hair was light brown myself. When I look at Alexander's portrait pictures in KQ6, it look more of a dark brown than black to me. So maybe that's where the brown comes in?
Just a thought.
Anyway, I do think a way to skip scenes that were already viewed would be helpful. I think maybe a very brief intro into Chapter 2 may work, depending on where they have the action pick up.
Yeah, her hair is brown. Sorry. For some reason I just remembered her being blonde. My memory must be playing tricks on me.
Carry on then.

Exactly. Rosella started it all with her genetic aberration blond hair from the black-haired Graham and the fire-crotch Valanice.
Didn't really think of that. Point taken.
In short, genetics are weird
Stupid auto spelling couldent give me the right word on maturity, so i sounded like an idiot and spelled it machurity like a 3 year old
Anyway, its an interesting thought that the hair of Valanice is brunette "i think" and the Hair of Graham is black, yet it never clicked with me as to why the hair of Rosella is Blond, could it not just be a genetic gene from one of the other Families, or do you get what is from your Mom and Dad.
I assumed Gart is the Son of Rosella and Edgar where Gwendolyn is the Daughter of Alexander and Cassima.
Must not stray from Topic :-X
Yeah, that's confirmed. 'Gwendolyn' is a play on 'Gwydion'.
Both my parents had (when they were younger) dark black hair and dark brown eyes, as I do, but my sister has light brown hair and blue/grey eyes. Just because traits are dominant doesn't mean that the recessive traits don't sometimes win out.
What he said. Plus, I figure that maybe one of Graham's or Valanice's ancestors was a blonde somewhere. *shrugs*
New Idea added.
I do like how Gwendolyn's name has some meaning behind it. Gart, on the other hand... I have no idea where that came from.

If I had to guess, it's part of Edgar's name. Gar from his name, though I'm not sure what the T would be for.
Another Idea i added.
The "t" is for Titania. It reinforces Gart's inferiority complex that part of his name was taken from a woman and his desire to prove to everyone around him that he is definitely not gay. #medievalworldproblems
*snickers*
On a somewhat related note, why the heck does Gart have a british accent?
How do you guys conclude the meaning in the Names is part of a Country or Names of other Characters, where did that come from.
By the way, this Thread is about Improving Chapter 1 and making Chapter 2-5 better.
This game needs more boobs.

Ok, now here is a far-fetched theory from the dark recesses within my mind (which is a result of playing too many Sierra adventure games):
The same way that Gwendolyn's name is related to Alexander's slave name Gwydion, Gart reminded me of Gort from Quest for Glory V who looked like Edgar when he was under Lolotte's spell. :suffer:
I initially thought Edgar did have a slave name in KQ4 but apparently he didn't.
*scratches head* People get named after people all the time... for example, my middle name is Kimberly, after a an old family friend of ours.
And it's confirmed in one of the articles pre-release that Gwendolyn DOES come from Gwydion. Gart coming from Edgar is just speculation, but it makes sense. *shrugs*
