Title: Hello? <echo>
Post by: Warder83 on August 11, 2004, 10:20:19 PM
Hiya, i'm new =P

I just heard about this project from a friend and thought I'd come check it out. But I notice there is hardly any forum activity.

That one post about updates comming every month and such was back in march? X.x

Is this project still going ahead? I'd love to see KQ9 =D

Welcome Warder!  ;D

What do you mean hardly any forum activity? :o  I take it you haven't yet ventured into the Off Topic (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=10) or Haven (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php#9) forums yet.  ;D

There were plenty of updates since March too.  Check out the KQ9.org (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=34) forum for information on all site updates.  8)

Welcome.

Don't worry about forum activity. There's even activity in threads that haven't had posts, in months(until now :suffer: ).

Yup, there will be a bunch of site updates soon.  We prefer doing them all at once. :D  Just to name a few of the updates:

- Costume Contest closure
- Online Auditions closure
- Flash Games winners (& some special updates !!!)
- many updated sections on the site
- 3 new features, 2 new contests, 1 new site section
...and possibly even more! XD

Also, there will be the standard updates including a new: Newsletter, Journal, AOTW, Weekly Poll, Freak Poll.

So, there will be a LOT coming in the next update, and our goal is to have it all before September.  8)

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it survived the server crash.

welcome stranger!

I must say that was ironic how you posted and you got automatically 7 comments around not long ago after you posted, as well as you can see the forum activity right where it says "see status" below members, you can actually see many ppl around with + 1.000 posts (including myself with over 7.000 posts by now) that didn't magically happen overnight, as well as the weekly udpates I may have not updated the new features yet to come but there are art of the week, weekly poll as well as MANY other features created / updated BEFORE and AFTER March such as: Journal, Flash Games, KQIX Haven, KQIX Chamber, Link section updated, Info section updated AND Library section updated, not to mention as well the KQIX contest we've done, the prized for Flash games, Contest as well, KQIX Bday, and some others... SO, my point is -> I wouldn't dare to say this site is dead AT ALL ;)

AND there is more to come, in case you wonder :)

If everyone stopped posting, I'd probably keep posting in the old(over 6 months old) threads.  XD

Luckily, there's no fear of that. Unless the server crashes  :o .

P.S. Feel free to join me in the old threads, it's a great way to catch up on what you've missed.

hahahah

Welcome newbie.  Hope you hang around and see how MUCH is being done!  While I'm sure many of us regulars are wondering about when the newest features will be added, we also know that the team has our best interests at heart and will not give us anything less than the best.

Thanks Neil and Say...now you've got me on the edge of my seat waiting!

I havn't had this many moderators post in one of my topics on a forums since telling SOE how much I hate SWG =P

HARDLY ANY ACTIVITY ON THE FORUM? :o
Maybe the other topics are a bit neglected in favor of the off-topic and haven sections, but on the whole there's plenty of activity... I can't remember when was the last time I kept up with all the posts ::)

Personally, I don't think there's enough activity on the forums. How am I supposed to become a KQ9 Groupie, if there aren't enough new posts? >:(

*thinks about all the threads that are unread*

Nevermind.   ;D

I'm beginning to think you revive old threads just to get more posts...

That's only about a 1/3 of the reason. Besides, I'm rarely on the forums, when I can have a real-time conversation(like you). If someone wants the threads to stay dead, I'll leave them alone, then I'll start making new threads.  ;D

lol...between all the posts you make...I guess it looks like you're on the forum more than you actually are!  Real-time conversations are actually less common than you think--at least, the ones that are joined with MSN :P

Some forums have a major thing against thread resurrection (AGDI's comes to mind), but nobody's ever made an official proclimation one way or the other here.

I personally don't mind... most of the threads here seemed to have died simply from lack of interest, rather than deliberate cease-fire of a flame war or something similar, so it generally doesn't dredge up anything horrible. If the thread still has a spark in it, we all might chat about it again... otherwise it'll drop into obscurity again. (shrug)

Live and let chat, I say! ;)

Peace & Luv, Liz

I'm often logged into the forum, when I'm away from the computer(FAR away). I normally stay logged in, when I'm making large downloads, so I might appear to be watching the forum, more than I am.

I personally don't mind thread resurrection, though sometimes I see one and I'm like "Whoa, where did this come from?".

The only time it's a problem is if the thread had some offensive content in it and gets resurrected when it should have been locked.  I know that the resurrector usually has no intention of continuing with the offensiveness, so I'd just split out the bad stuff and lock it.  ;D

EDIT: Oh, and another thing I dislike are resurrectors that add no real value to the conversation but just resurrect for the sake of resurrecting.  I consider that as thread spamming.  It hasn't happened yet, but their posts would probably be deleted and they'd get a warning.

I posted in a thread that might have been considered offensive. Then the server crashed. I went to post there again, and it was locked. Any chance that the thread was locked because of my post(not offensive, but it might have brought the thread to your attention)?

Hehe, I remember the thread you're talking about.  And don't worry, it had nothing to do with your post. ;D
Title: Re:Hello? <echo>

I don't mind thread resurrections myself, as long as the resurrector actually has something important enough to say to warrant the resurrection. Resurrections shouldn't be about upping one's post count or having one's name show up on every thread in the category (although those are worthy goals in themselves) 8)

I'm almost always posting late, when noone else is so there's only so much I can do before i've exausted my places to post...
That and I have a short attention span.
