Mm'kay..I hope this is allowed...
On September 4th, there will be a special broadcast on Utopia Skye (http://www.utopiaskye.com) for a friend of mine who has a rare type of leukemia. Anyhow, I'm posting so you can all have time to make sure you can listen and also to let you know how to donate if you can.
Here's a link to the Jackie Tally Fund (http://www.thejackietallyfund.org). If you're going to donate (first of all, thank you so much!) the address is:
The Prout School - Jackie Tally Fund
4640 Tower Hill Road
Wakefield, 02879
And donations can be made using Paypal--there's a link on the website.
Also, if you just want to see how she's doing, she has a livejournal which can be found here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/tally04) which is updated pretty regularly.
Information on the broadcast:
First of all, you don't need to be a member of Utopia Skye to listen. You *do* need to have WinAmp, RealPlayer, or Windows Media Player (or something similar, it has to be able to play live-feeds). The website is, of course, Utopia Skye (http://www.utopiaskye.com). I *think* the broadcast will start at 7 pm EST (6 pm CST...I don't know any other time zones) and end...uh...some time later than that. I will have more information on the times soon!
Thanks everyone, anything you can do to help, even if it's just to pray for Jackie once in a while, is very much appreciated it.
P.S. Neil or Say, could you maybe sticky this until after September 4th?
She definitely has my prayers, and maybe even a contribution after I actually make some money of my own to contribute (give me 2 weeks). Please keep us informed. She has my support. :)
Sure, this is a good thread to be stickied. At least until Sept 4th. :)
Thanks Neil! I really appreciate this!
Fatali; don't worry about donating. Your support alone is plenty. :) I will definitely keep everyone updated on this.
And, yes, the times I gave for the broadcast are correct, I checked with the DJ. It will be from 7 pm EST (6 pm CST) til whenever she's about to fall asleep on her keyboard (probably 1 am ESTish)
I can't listen to the broadcast due to previous engagements on the 4th that will likely take up the whole day, but I can likely make a donation... if you accept money orders. ;]
Peace & Luv, Liz
Wouldn't you have to download another music player anyhow, Jeysie?
Honestly, I'm only organizing the broadcast. I don't know what they accept. Try it, and see. :)
I could always use Harrison's computer... I hate his computer too much to use it regularly, but I don't mind for "special occasions". Still, the timing's a no-go.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Ok, here's the news: Saturday, September 4th on Utopia Skye (http://www.utopiaskye.com) there will be a special broadcast starting at 7 pm EST (which is 6 pm CST and I don't know any other time zones...) will be a special broadcast for Jackie Tally. Whether or not you have the intention of or even the ability to donate to the Jackie Tally Fund (http://www.thejackietallyfund.org) I'm asking everyone to tune in to show support. Also, please spread the word. I'm gonna answer a few questions we sometimes get now...
Do I have to be a member of the forums to listen? No. While, you *can* join if you want to, you don't have to. If you want to join, click on the "Utopia Skye Forums - be Heard" link (the second one) and then, near the top of the page click the link that says "Register". It's totally free. My username is crayauchtin...and I *am* a mod so don't mess with me. :P
How do I play the station? Click the link that says "PLAY!" (the first one). The file will be instantly downloaded to your computer, and will open in your default music-playing program. It is a live feed, so make sure your computer is able to handle that.
What programs can play Utopia Skye? From personal experience, I can tell you that RealPlayer, WinAmp and Windows Media Player will both play the file. I'm pretty sure there's more programs that can play it than that.
So, please, tune in on September 4th, or at least tell people about it! Also consider donating to the Jackie Tally Fund, it will really be a huge help and will mean a lot to the Tally family.
My sympathy and prayers are with her :)
I mimmick everyones sentiments here and as soon as i get paid ill be donating to the fund...hopefully i'll get to tune in tonight too, haven't listened for too long. Is Dimona still DJing Q?
Thanks Jason and Alex, it's very much appreciated. :)
Yeah Alex, DiMona still DJs. She wasn't for a little while, she moved to Maine, but she's back on the air now. The DJs for tonight will be DJ Muse (who will be filling in until the actual DJ shows up ;D) and DJ Emma Dilorenzo. It promises to be a great broadcast so please tune in!
Yayyyyyy Dj Muse, she was cool she played Muse for me when i was sleepy! Shall definately be tuning in :D
Looks got Alex's got a small crush ;) ;)
J/K hun!
The broadcast is going on right now! Thanks go out to Alex and LN because they tuned in already, but there's only four listeners! Tune in tune in tune in!! It's being played Utopia Skye (http://www.utopiaskye.com) right now, as I'm posting.
Ok, I'm gonna go back to spamming.
I'm sure this is a dumb question, but what EXACTLY is Utopia Skye?
I'm mainly asking, because I'm considering joining the Utopia Skye Forum(since I can't view it without joining, I'm hoping someone will tell me what it is).
Actually, no that's a good question.
I'd say it's a fairly normal Internet community. For the most part, the people who post there play MMORPGs like The Sims Online and Star Wars Galaxies, but it's really open to anyone.
Mostly we just hang around on the forums (the fact that the Goof Forum is the most active one ought to tell you something ;D), but our main purpose to help people who need it in ways like, well, this radio broadcast. When nobody needs our help, we aimlessly goof off like morons, it's fun. :D
Everyone there is very nice, you should definitely join. And, hey, you can resurrect our old threads too, LN! :P
Sounds great. :)
*joins another forum, despite thinking he's already joined too many*
P.S. A moderator invited me to resurrect threads. !!!
I'm finally listening in! *stabs computer* Sorry it took so long, but lost my internet connection for a couple of hours (the usual restarting didn't work this time), and then my computer completely froze up AFTER I get told to tune in...
I hope the broadcast was fun! !!!
And I sent my donation out in the mail Saturday. I mentioned that I knew you, Questie. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
You really didn't have to do that...I don't think the people who work at that address remember me. :P Although, I also don't know if they're really the ones looking at the mail for the fund though. >shrugs<
