LOL! Is that where that's from? I remember watching that in class in Grade 6 or something and wondering "OMGWTF?!". ;D
Grade 6? :o Did they show just the Time Warp bit, or the whole movie? 'Cause if they showed the whole movie, you had some majorly liberal teachers. XB
Peace & Luv, Liz
I only remember that line from the Time Warp song, and it may have been a different movie that just used that song. :P I think the movie we watched had to do with time travel.
i doubt you would have watched it in school lol. hardly a film to show to kids! mind u i did see it when i was fairly young...perhaps that explains a few things about me now ;D
I saw it when I was 14 myself. :D
Peace & Luv, Liz
i think i saw it when i was younger...altho i dont really know when i got past the wtf stage...actually i dont think you can get past that no matter how old you are
I think it was on once during Halloween a few years ago. I don't think I ever watched through it completely. :o :P
well u have all seen my rocky horror pics so you know what i think of it ;D
I saw it when I was 13 or 14, while I was still living in Germany.
Conclusion/Opinion:
Annoying piece of cinematic garbage.
I refuse to sacrifice two hours of my time that I'll never get back to watching that "film".

Dude, you're totally missing the point! :suffer:
There are movies out there in which the whole point of watching them is that they're so bad they're good, and half the fun is enjoying how bad they are. Why do you think the biggest pasttime of Rocky Horror fans is yelling and throwing things at the screen? XD
You're probably not a Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan, either. :'(

Yes, yes, and they dress up like the characters, and they usually throw toast of all things at the screen. My point is is that it isn't so bad that it isn't even fun in a corny way.
Also, as a general rule, I hate musicals.

I love MST3K, thank you very much. In fact, when some friends of mine and I went to see the original "War of the Worlds", we took a quote right out of that show and chanted it on the appropriate cue.
"FORRESTER! FORRESTER! DOCTOR CLAYTON FORRESTER!"
now ur both missing the point...you scram at the theatre production...you sit in silence when its on the tv! :P...or dance in ur living room!
No, I just avoid it at all costs. I don't care if i have to ditch my friends or a date or Canada's Prime Minister or the Queen of England. I won't watch that movie again.
It's an opinion. And opinions are like a*******. Everyone's got one, and they're all different...and they smell...opinions smell ::)
:suffer:
Plagiarist! :o
And I quote our MSN conversation:

Because it's three characters that clearly dislike the movie, but get joy out of heckling it. The heckling they come up with is quite funny and amusing.
RHPS isn't making fun of anything. It was intended as a serious movie, but people just liked it for it's cornyness. They're two completely different premises.

Actually, I think the movie was meant as a satire/homage to begin with. Certainly it's sequel Shock Treatment is a satire of TV game/reality shows...
Peace & Luv, Liz
I'm thankful, that I have no idea what this thread's about. ;D
1) Love Airplane! Also enjoy Naked Gun series. Spy Hard was a good spoof on spy movies, as well. Top Secret with Val Kilmer is pretty decent, too. I don't put those in the same category as RHPS..or even MST3K.
2) WTF is RHPS a satire/homage to? And if you want good satire movies, see "The Ruttles", "Waiting for Guffman", "Best In Show", or "A Mighty Wind".

(heavy sigh) I knew it... I'm the only person on the planet who thinks that Airplane! and the Naked Gun movies aren't funny. Any comedy that stars Leslie Neilsen in it I usually avoid like the plague cause they're usually stupid. Or at least, I would avoid them if Harrison didn't love them. :P
Quote from: J-ROC on September 09, 2004, 04:10:16 PM2) WTF is RHPS a satire/homage to?
Horror & Sci-Fi B-movies and musicals. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
Meh, Kill Bill was a better homage movie.
Haven't seen Kill Bill yet... although it looks kind of gratuitous.
I think the only other outright spoof movies I've really gotten to see at this point are Austin Powers, Spaceballs, and Galaxy Quest. (OK, I also saw Mars Attacks!, but I'm trying to block that one out of my memory along with Airplane! At least Harrison doesn't like Mars Attacks either, which makes things easier.)
Peace & Luv, Liz
I liked Mars Attacks. XD
Liked Galaxy Quest, so OMG, DON'T WATCH IT!
Also liked Austin Powers, so OMG, DON'T WATCH IT!
I sorta liked Spaceballs, so maybe watch that.
:suffer:
I'll make you a deal... I'll give you back the hour and a half you wasted watching RHPS if you give me back the hour and a half I wasted watching Mars Attacks. :suffer:
Peace & Luv, Liz
I saw part of it on tv not to long ago but I started it in the middle. I have never been so confused I saw people dressed like girls and singing about time warps and I have no clue what is going on ??? :o

HAHAH! When it was on TV I thought the exact same.. except for the Time Warp part, I didn't watch it long enough for that. :P
I wouldn't classify Kill Bill under the same category as: Mars Attacks, Spaceballs, Austin Powers or RHPS. There is
some satire in it, but it's more like an action film with a plot. ;D

Well, there's a huge difference. Mars Attacks, Spaceballs, Austin Powers are all spoofs. Poking fun at those genres. RHPS is just a load of crap. :D
Kill Bill is an homage to all the corny kung-fu movies that Quentin Tarantino watched and was influenced by. More of a "Thank you" than a "Ha-ha, look at you..." thing. He enjoyed those movies and wanted to make one similar to that with his own story. Hence the cheesey kung-fu master, the over the top gore, Uma in her yellow track suit, etc...
I still find it amusing that you think RHPS is a load of crap, but you liked Mars Attacks (which IMHO was a load of crap). :D
At any rate, I remembered another spoof movie I liked... South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. :D
Although the funniest part was when the people behind the Oscars decided to nominate one of the movie's songs (which actually were good, in a very twisted sort of way) and they ran into the slight problem that every song that fit the criteria uses at least one of the "Deadly Words You Can't Say on Television". :suffer:
Peace & Luv, Liz
Yes, "Blame Canada" got nominated...
Heh, yah. I liked "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" better, though.
Peace & Luv, Liz
I like the "Uncle" song the best.
