It seems to be the least used messenger. I know who made YIM, MSN, and AIM, but who made ICQ(the company)?
Also, anything I should kjnow about it(before signing up)? ???
"In November of 1996, Mirabilis, a company of four Israeli programmers, introduced ICQ â€" a “free instant-messaging utility that anyone could useâ€.13 Within two years, ICQ gained 12 million users and was annihilating its competition, AOL’s Instant Messenger. However, AOL was not perturbed by these statistics, and to avoid competition purchased Mirabilis’ ICQ for $287 million on June 5th, 1998.14"

Weird. :S
Thanks for the info. :)
The thing to keep in mind was that ICQ was originally designed by two programmers, rather than some corporation. :P
similar story to Google.
I was just wondering about that, now I think I'll complete my collection of messengers. :P
Wouldn't you also need Trillian? :P
I'm just getting all the messenger accounts(that this forum lets you add to your profile). :P
What bothered me about ICQ, is when it said "with Xtras". I just found out, that Xtras are just plugins for the messenger. XD
Glad that was cleared up --- ;D
I used to love using ICQ because it had the cool function of allowing people to leave you offline messages but now yahoo has that so its one less reason to use it. Oh and also theres that annoying search feature on it that lets random people message you with strange pr0n adverts.
Anyone mind telling me, why there are two ICQ icons(next to my posts)?
Maybe one of the admin. people are playing a trick on you. :suffer:
One icon means I'm online, and the other one means something else(no idea what). :P
I was in the first million people to use ICQ, my number was 907945!!
Awesome hey? ::)
Anyway, now if I started using it again, i'd have to get a number like 12trillion something... lol!

Actually, the first means "send ICQ message to this person" and the second means "look this person up in the ICQ whitepages" ;)
*pushes ICQ buttons*
Thanks Storm. :)
