Ooh keep your eyes open, there may be surprises in the way ;-D

This is about the 1000th time you say that... we want details!! :o
When is the next big site update due, anyway? you already said it's once a month... you might as well tell us the date ;)
Tsk, tsk, tsk.. didn't you see the Newsletter (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/newsletter/)? Or rather, look at the pictures... ;D
i hope there is a big update on the 27th of May ;)
That would be the best Birthday Present ever ;-D
Yeah Neil!, they dont pick up on details ;P darnit! :D
the newsletter is sort of a teaser / spoiler whoever who checks it out can certainly guess from it :P
AND... Jason, your bday is May 28th, that would be a thursday I thing, you do know we have updates on weekends dont you? :P
let me state this clear
to racx, sweetheart, Im sorry the updates are weekly so what I meant is the fact its going to be really hard for me to come up with a surprise for you on May 27th because its weekeday, not weekend, Im sorry.
to storm and liam, do not complain you get now weekly and monthly updates which you didnt have before, if its this week or next week the monthly update you shouldnt certainly complain whatsoever regardless there are always weekly updates, you should know that by now! darnit... lol
Wait..I wasn't complaining....I was just saying that it was heavily hinted that today was the monthly update...but I wasn't complaining ;D.
When is this game supposed to be released in 2004? do you guys have an estimate month?
Welcome to our forums waybackwhen! :)
Noone ever said the game will be released 2004, neither we've said it wont, there is no official date, there is only speculations all over about it
Untill the Project Director or the PR Director explicitly say so, there is no official date of release.
So far it would be hard to give out a date without a true certainty, we dont believe in tricky advertisement or bad PR, we wouldnt officialy give out something we dont know it would be out that date. So intead of promising anything, we would like to keep everyone informed about the progress.
Terribly sorry I wont allow myself to provide an accurate date on this matter yet.
Perhaps your great-grandchildren can tell you. ;)

:o :o ...lol, I didn't expected this to be a never ending project, because it will take a while till my great-grandchildren will tell me anything, that is
if they are able to talk to me at all ; \
Hello there waybackwhen! It's nice to have you join us in the forums! Though there is not official release date for the game, there's more then enough stuff to do around here now! Be sure to subscribe to the Newsletter to keep up on all of the latest KQ9 news at http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/newsletter/, the link is on the bottom.
We've got games, we have contests, we even have a dancing bear... (oh, we might have had to sell the dancing bear for insurance reasons...) In short there's lots to see and do, stick around and with luck you'll have a great time! ;D
Do you guys have an estimated release date for when you will release the release date? ;P ;)
InvertedSilence has a good question. I doubt Phoenix will give us one, but I'd like it.
Although, then people would be waiting for the release date, instead of the game.

Watch out, lads, we've got a clever one 'ere! ;P
Haha, well all I'm gonna say is soon. 8)
Actually, keep an eye out this summer. ;D
Or winter, if you live in the Southern Hemisphere! ;)
Hmmm... maybe Yonkey is right... soon....
could mean anything.... soon as is Summer?...
Soon as in by the end of the year?... Soon as is 2005?...
;P
lol grundy :P
Alright. The question I been wanting and I sure know others been wanting to know is when do you think the game will be complete and on a verge of being released.
Now I have read in the forums a few months ago that one of the moderartors said the game should be done by this year. Or am I wrong. If not this year should it be done within early or mid 2005? Sorry if I am so straightfoward. I am new ;D
Greeting the Shalkar!
Welcome Shalkar!!
I'm not a mod but I don't remember anything said like that by a moderator (unfortunatly :P) they did said that 2004 will be a good year for KQ9 and there was a lot of speculation (by non-kq9 teammembers) what that would mean....
*waits for an official post...* ::)
Welcome Shalker!
Rob, you beat me to it! That's what I was going to post. If only I had seen this thread 20 min. ago :P So anyway, what I last heard about 2004 was that it was going to be a good year for KQ9, but they never said anything about the game being released by the end of this year.
Welcome Shalkar! ;D
Don't worry, we will announce on our site, forum, newsletter, journal, and everywhere once the game is ready to be released. ;D The game most likely will not be completed within the next two months, but there are a few other goodies planned... XD
Neil's subtle way of saying that they're torturing the fans into waiting longer for the goodies :P Which, in case ya'll haven't figured it out yet...I don't mind :D
Well indeed, Rob and Neil cleared up your question already, personally, all I can say on my end is that I'm trying to do my best to get something around here soon, but it doesn't depends on me... so just hang in there, it's worth to wait.
and don't worry you guys, you being registered to the newsletter I do promise that the moment we release anything or say anything officially, you will be the first ones to know ;)
Welcome to the forum, Shalkar!! ;D
Ahhh, the usual it-will-be-done-when-it's-done answer.
How surprising :P
I don't think there's a chance the game would be released this year... unless "this year" means "in the next 12 months" :-\
Well, I think Neil said it but let me quote it again
QuoteThe game most likely will not be completed within the next two months
Hopefully now it's clear enough now? ;-D
And I won't say the release date, so stop asking. To make you guys suffer even more, yes, we do know.
Hey thanks guys! I appreciate the wonderful welcome. It's nice to fit in. Alright, so the game won't be released this year. Good to know. I can wait. Well, "Say" you were the person I read about 2004 may be a good year. Anyway, what are these goodies I read about throughout this thread? Should I sign up for the newsletter? If so, I hope its worth it.
Thanks again fellas.
Shalkar! 8)
You should definitely sign up for the newsletter. I know one evening I was about to get off, and did one last email check before going to bed...and found the newsletter. Not only did it tell us some of the updates, but it told us about the online auditions opening up! Because of that, I was able to get my stuff in pretty quickly.
But it's just great to know about updates before you sign into the forum and see everyone discussing them...then you're going "where and when did this happen??"
and so far it has been, still working on to be able to spill some beans ;)
heh making ppl suffer dont get to know the goodies or the release date :) this post sounds kinda weird to me ::)
*edit:my post not the whole post lol
*edit: where re my manners lol
WELCOME SHALKAR
All i can say is wow, game is looking amazing.
Hi BTW new to the forum, really cant wait to see this game :)
Any word on a release date, or is that still hush hush ;D
Welcome HoboKnight...
Last I heard, it's still hush hush...but I'm sure they'll tell us as soon as they decide to let us in on that little secret :P
Rawr ok >:(
Okay I know that I am like the millionth person to ask this but when oh when does this wonderful Kings Quest IX become available to the desperate fans. There is only so many times that you can play the first 8 games. ;)
Sounds familiar...
ah... here we go. :P

So, if you haven't already... signup for the newsletter (http://www.tsl-game.com/)(bottom of the page), be patient, and post more. :)
Eh, if you check the webpage every Sunday night/Monday morning you won't really miss anything that you'd know by subscribing to the newsletter. I subscribe to it anyway, but it's not like necessary by any means.
Welcome BTW ;D
That's correct. And, if you check every new post in the forum every day, you would definitely not miss anything. :P Considering the person's last post was almost a year ago, I'd say subscribing to the Newsletter would help a lot. :)
True, true. Basically what I was saying is if you're a regular visitor to the site, like just checking the front page every day, chances are you'll catch any new developments. However, if you don't check the front page every day (every week really) then subscribing to the newsletter is pretty beneficial.
I've been gone in Russia since June so I was just trying to find out from you the fans what has been going on with Kings Quest IX. I'm just really anxious to play.
We all are, Verny. The good thing is, since the game wasn't released while you were away, you didn't come to the forums and see everyone raving about the ending before you even got to play it XD
Ive played the old quest series so often and so much I know them backwards and forwards and I can't get enough. At this point Im even getting to the point where I'm gonna give in and play MOE again for the first time in 3 years. BUT I'm not sure if I wanna go down that road of confusion and dismay when i finish it again.
So KQ9 is deffinitly "not" going to be finished in two months?
Ummm...I think we all be pretty confident and say that it won't be released in the next couple of months :P

Definitely not finished in two months. But things are moving really good right now, so who knows what will happen two months from now. ;D
Oh, and when I said the 2 months thing originally, it was 3 months ago. :P
Is it safe to say that it will be released before 2006?
Is someone fishing for some inside information? ;)

2007 is my hope but it may be later. ;)
I personally think it'll be sooner...*shrugs* But that's my opinion.
2007 That is so long away. Why not 2005?
I'm thinking late 2005...but I have absolutely no clue.
i hate MOE worst game ever
hate MoE is the wrong word but i also think it was the worst king's quest ever made
Indeed it was poor and I think it led to the demise of Sierra. Fortunately, we have these people -- Neil, Say, et. all which are working on KQIX which will eventually be released. Thanks Team and Keep up the Great Work. Keep us Informed as much as possible in the Journal Entries. I appreciate the job and think you are doing fantastic. :D 8) :o :P ::) 8) :) :suffer: :smitten: :flirt: ;D ;D
Hi all. Add me to the list of people that are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this game. ;D
I've been playing several Sierra games off and on for roughly 13 years now, and, like others I'm sure, felt that KQ8 didn't really cut it as either a part of the series or a finale!
Keep up the good work guys. From what I've seen and heard about this game, we're in for quite a treat.
I've recently discovered this project and there is 1 word i want to say: WOW. 40-50 people working on it, over 5 years spent on it, i really CANT WAIT!! But ehhh... Is this game going to be released this year?? or in 2006?? Can you reveal that little tiny secret to us..?? ;)
pretty please with sugar on top..?? :D

This has already been answered, and the answer is now as it has always been; you will know when they tell you, and any amount of asking will not change when that is :)
Welcome to the forums though! Keep your eyes peeled, because sometime, some info is bound to be spilled ;)
I like many others have gone through my "when is it gonna be released..." pestering phase and now I've just resigned myself to waiting.
With that said y'all have to admit that whoever is in charge of promotong this game is either really bad at his/her job...(i.e. the lack of trailers and ball-park release dates)
...or he/she really gets off on keeping secrets. At this point I'd PAY to see a trailer. I'D PAY!
I'd say it's just because they want to keep it a secret for now until they're ready to release the trailer...

Altair,
I, as I think many others as well, would appreciate if you would not bash the PR people without knowing the facts. One fact is that everyone is working for free on this thing, and whether or not they even want to release it in the end, is their choice. For now, there are no trailers, but knowing the team that will come, as many of them are trailer-obsessed, I mean.. who doesn't want to show off their creation? ;)
So basically, as I've said before, just keep your eyes peeled, trailers etc will be released when they are good and ready, as will the game, because everyone on the project are very deeply involved and dedicated to seeing that KQIX truly gives fans the closure they have been searching for. :)
Man, how difficult it must be to be one of you outsiders, who don't know all the juicy things we in the team know! :D
I wish I could tell you, but I just can't... Just rest assured that it will be worth the wait, and the wait is not going to be infinite!
In terms of teasers/trailers/demos and whatever, it's a good way of keeping everyone interested but keep in mind that we are not doing this for money, and you'd rather have us working on the actual game than prologing the process by working on stuff like that all the time. So when things are quiet and nothing seems to be happen is actually when we're rather busy working on the actual game. There is not one day when nothing new is being produced and the further we get in putting it all together, the more amazing it's beginning to look! Trust me, it WILL be worth the wait!
Something to think about during the long hours at the forum... ;)

To answer the question asked in the first post of this thread, Part 1 of KQIX will be released this winter. 8)
does anyone know a way to speed up time?
i want it was already winter so i could play the first part
If only I, Rosella, had the same time changing powers as KQ9's Rosella. Ah wells, I'll pretend I do when the 2nd part comes out :P
oke who was it?
who stole my plans for a time machine
was almost finished whit it but cant build one whitout my plans
first thing i try when i got my timemagine go to the future play king's quest 9 ;D
Wasn't me.... ::) What month/day in winter? Is october classified as winter? Will it be this year? Or will it be january of next year? OOOOOOOOOO there are SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dead:
As of this date and time, I believe the proper answer is:
:suffer:
I'm worried that when it comes out, I'll be in school and not on Winter Break! Can someone please give me some reassurance? *puppy eyes*
Your school doesn't have an Internet connection? ???
I'm going to assume she's in the same position I'll probably be in, where we have the internet connection, but may not have the time.
I'll just send you a screenshot and you can send me a message telling me what to click on in that screen. *repeat* You'll finish the game in a mere 7 years
Let's do it! ;D

Exactly. Plus, I don't want to play it at school! I WANT TO FOCUS IN THE COMFORT OF MY OWN HOME! You KQIX people are making me blow a gasket... :bomb:
Yeah, I agree with Rosedragon. KQIX would be a great Christmas present! ;D
Yeah, I am SO asking Santa for it. XD
BUT...will Santa listen? :P
All I really need to know to get started at least, as far as anticipating this game goes, is whether winter means late 2005 or some (hopefully early) time 2006. Cause otherwise that's such a wide gap that it saddens me.

First off I want to say THANK YOU!!! I have actually played all King's Quest Games (VIII doesn't count).
I have a question, are all three games being worked on at the same time or should we expect a similar wait for all three games?
Just wanted to also say please put up some kind of paypal donation because as soon I download this game I would love to "donate" $40. Hopefully everyone does it making it worth the effort.
Thanks,
sdogg1m
I know the team is leaning to release each part every winter for the next three years (Part I-Winter 2005; Part II-Winter 2006; Part III- Winter 2007). If I remember what Cesar said about the game correctly, they were working on the whole game at once until they decided to split it into three parts. But, while they're focused on getting Part I finished, I do believe they're working some on the other two parts. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Welcome sdogg1m! Hope you'll stay around :)

I think the team considers the effort worth it just from your kind comments and the fact that you enjoy to play their game. Quite officially they can't recieve payment, and rumours of such could hurt the game in the long run, but continue to support the game and you'll be doing a whole lot just from that! :P
Oh and, may I just welcome you to the forums! :D
Thanks so much for the info. I can't until the game is released and the trailor looks awesome!!!
Even though the team can't officially charge for the game is there anyway we can reward them for their diligent effort?
BTW, Koko your avatar is so cute!!! I wish I could have a cat :D

To answer your question, certain departments were working on the future parts of the game but now mostly everyone in the team is focusing on the completion of Part One. 8)

Considering the amount of traffic our site gets, and the amount of people that have and continue to download the trailer, it would definitely be a
lot. 8)
Considering the recent bandwidth problem, I take it that you won't have the game for downloading on this site, right? :P
Definitely not. :P

Will it be on that other site like the trailer was, or are you just going to make a new site specifically for downloading the game? ???
In light of recent events (http://www.tsl-game.com/), the production on KQIX has stopped.
Update (Dec 9, 2005): The Silver Lining will be released sometime during 2006. 8)
