Title: IQ
Post by: copycat on November 28, 2004, 05:05:21 PM
Quote from: Rosella on July 21, 2004, 08:12:57 AMHad an IQ of 184. As I got older, I started hanging out with people a lot like you guys and it was all downhill from there.  :-\
Whoa! :o That's even higher than mine, and they called me a genius. Unfortuntaly, while the IQ was fine, the memory wasn't, so subjects where I had to learn a lot by heart, were not as good as one could've hoped based only on my IQ. Anyway, usually your IQ doesn't deteriorate with age, in fact, that's why the IQ scores differ according to the age. What can happen is a slight drop when performing an IQ test because you haven't done them in a while, but once you get used to them, after a few you're back up. 8)

I'm still at 141, the worst in the family actually. I'm the only one to ever fall below genius!!

QuoteThe result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test.
Anyway, from which IQ does ons consider him-/herself 'genius'?

Here's a list (http://hem.bredband.net/b153434/Index.htm#TableI) :scholar:

I took an IQ test some years ago... I think it said I'm above average, so you know how much those tests are worth :P

Not sure what my IQ is...took a test years ago.  However, just took one online and it came up as 147.  I do question the validness of it.

Maybe all hardcore adventure gamers have a naturally high IQ? ;)

My IQ was somewhere between 120 and 130. But that makes no sense because I am smarter than a couple of my friends and they got higher IQ scores :-\

I don't like or believe those tests :P

My annoying, immature 14-year-old brother got 160 on some online IQ test  >:(  :-\  :-X

The one I took was more mathematical than most.  I'd like to find one like the Weschler Scales online.  But I doubt they'd post that.

What is Weschler Scales :S ???

Sorry...the Wechsler Scales are some very well known IQ tests.  Learned about them in my Diagnostics class...granted, we weren't given them since they're so expensive, but we did learn that they were some of the best.

I don't think the WAIS is multiple choice though from what I've read... it seems to depend on a human grader. That's part of the expense.

I still think it would be great if they found a way to put the WAIS online.  There are so many "intelligence" tests out there on the web, you don't know which to trust or not to unless you scrutinize it.

Yeah, there's way too many that some people make up on the spot in order to get money... lousy scammers. :P

I think paying a fee to take a dubious online IQ test is more indicative of your "Intelligence Quotient" than whatever resulting score it may compute for you, IMHO.

How true. XD

I took a (professional) IQ test back when I was 16 as part of a psych evaluation, and I believe I got around a 145. I always tested off the scales on all our school assessment tests and whatnot. I have a very poor memory, though... I'm terrible at any sort of rote learning. I'm better at learning the theory behind things.

Intelligence doesn't mean much unless you use it. Most tests focus too much on just memorizing facts and spitting them back out... a better judge of intelligence is whether you can use your knowledge to analyze and see the logic of things, IMHO. Whether you can place those facts into some sort of practical context.

Peace & Luv, Liz
