Title: KQ7 problems
Post by: copycat on March 27, 2004, 02:28:16 PM
Quote from: koko_99_2001 on March 27, 2004, 02:07:22 PMYou know...I think after I get off this board (give me another hour! lol), I'm going to play KQ7 again...I think it's about time...hopefully, though, I won't get stuck anywhere!  If I do, something is horribly wrong with my memory!
The problem is, to be able to do that, I'd have to install it again and the installation of KQ7 has the annoying habit of automatically overwriting your (current)version of MediaPlayer, even though it's more recent than theirs. :-\ So after that I'd have to re-install the newer MediaPlayer once more. :S

Never happened to me either...in fact, I didn't even have to install it...It's already done and I had no trouble playing it!

If none of you got it, maybe that's because my copy is probably one of the first they printed, and that Media Player was very new. Whilst the copies you bought are newer and when they were printed that Media Player was normal or outdated. Anyway, I've searched high and low during installation, but I can't find any option to bypass that sub-installation. :-X
Other than that, I can't see any reason.

I did have some problems playing the game. The timing was a bit off - sometimes there was no synch between the animation and the sound. It was especially apparent in the ending sequence :(
This was probably because the computer/CD drive were too slow, though both of them were up to the game's minimum specs :-\

Yeah, I found that too. It kept freezing up or going terrrrribly slow. (That also happened in other parts of the game.) Result? I wasn't able to finish it and I got rid of it. :P

Kings Quest 7 works fine on my computer, windows 98 but alot of the problems with kq7 seem to arise with windows xp, my Mom's pc. My solution, get a new one of ebay.

It also works fine on mine. It just can't overwrite it though can it Bob? Doesn't it usually ask you  first?
