then what the f*** are you doing here.
seriously if its such a waste of time what do you even care about registering here anyways, are you -currently- working on the project here? err.. NO, are you part of the team or actually could glance work of it? mmm let me guess again, NO. And sincerely you dont even sound like anyone working either on Tierra or any of the other develping game groups, so seriously instead of come here and annoy the crap out of everyone with posts such as this, dont waste your time on here, just registering there went 2 minutes on your life that are never coming back for no reason apparently.
Well said, Say! ;D
I guess he's just one of the crazed Tierra fans, who think that if Tierra isn't doing it, then it's not worth doing/will not be done.
What Tierra has accompished so far is great, but that doesn't mean they're the ONLY ones in the world who can make good games. ):c ):c ):c
Gasp! Say said a naughty word!
Anyway, Tierra made their games with only 3 people, so what makes you think more people can't complete a game? Sure, this projest was dead for a bit, but Now it's back. Just look at the pic of the week. if that's not a small sign of progress, I don't know what is. You can't show everything on a website, and it takes time out of the project itself to do so. Tierra's games didn't present something everytime they did something, so why should the KQ9 team? At least their putting time and effort into it, even if we can't see it.
But who knows? Maybe the team will fall apart, and the game will never be finished. But I'm NOT going to say that until that is a reality, and I hope it never is.

I'm here because i'm a long time fan of Sierra and specifically King's Quest. I loved what Tierra did, and I really would like to see a high quality KQ9 made. I hope this one is it, but I'll ALMOST guarantee it won't. but, no I'm not working on the project

Actually, I was going to join the team in a development role, but realized I didn't have enough time, with me working on my own projects and work. And, yes I could "glance" work of it. like to see my lastest project? go to http://www.home.earthlink.net/~wwjennings/MUNE

I actually made a game (located at http://www.home.earthlink.net/~wwjennings/Temp.zip), but I'm not a part of a larger group. And I was registered here before they made everyone re-register. But after checking up on the site after a few months, I don't have a good feeling about it at all.
Glad to see your passionate about the game. I hope the developers/artists/designers/writeer are just as passionate. Myabe then it'd get done.
ok
I put around 6 hours a day into the project and nobody pays me for it, so passionate, yes I am. A lot of work, there's a lot of that too. I don't need to convince you everydday that you decided to drop by that it will be done. If that's your opinion, fine, but try to voice it out in a less sarcastic way next time, please.
César
Just wondering...do ya'll ever get sick looking at the game? I mean, ya'll put long hours in on coloring and designing and going over the script...you have to get tired of it at some time or another, right?
Cat
But that doesn't mean I want you to stop!!! CONTINUE ON!!! lol
Yeah, whenever I start programming something, I really get involved in it, even when it's almost perfect. I've never done much programming with engines and stuff, but mostly I make these fun little algorithm things that either do some complex mathematical function for aid in something I do a lot, or a fun little program that makes a picture, and I also have the occasional game. So far I've only made Lights Out and a maze program, but I had a lot of fun with those. :)
Oh, and I DO think that the Join area should have an update the "people needed", since I'm not sure what's REALLY needed right now. It seems most of the jobs are already taken and there's nothing I can help with right now...
I can do some graphics, though I have no scanner and most of my computer-done graphics are piddly (unless I spend tons of time on them). I can do programming, but I don't know how advanced the programming is for the game. Story-editing's filled up, and video compression is gonna be a LONG time from now.
So can someone please update it a bit to reflect what's truly neccessary at any given moment in time?
My first knee-jerk reaction was to say something along the lines of what Say already said. Once my hackles were a bit more settled, I'm more along the lines of how Cesar responded. More or less anything I was going to say to "beernutts" here has been said, so for myself personally I will say:
I, too, am a devoted KQ fan, as is everyone else on the team. and speaking for me personally, I don't do things half-assed, I can be as stubborn as anyone you'll ever meet, and your accusation and lack of faith will only prove to make me more determined than ever that this will be the best game ever. *Ever*. And don't think I don't mean it!!
Further more, yeah, really, c'mon, beernuts, who put the bee in your bonnett to be so anatagonistic? Let's at least try to be fair if we're going to be negative.
koko,
It's amazing, but I never get tired of working on the game. Yes, sometimes I find myself working 12 hours a day on it, so by the end of the day, I don't want to know anything else about my computer or anyone, but I never get tired of it. I wish I didn't have to pay bills and go to school, so I could devote even more time to it :)
that's how passionate I am about it.
César
hehe, 12 hours? so you dont go to sleep? I mean you do have school and such...
well I wish KQ 9 will be made in the future, so keep working
WORK, WORK! I SAID WORK! *pulls out a whip* ;D
This only happens in my days off...... I used to have more of those not so long ago... oh well.
Well, you also have to remember, there are lots more people on the KQ9 team than the Tierra team as well. Plus, usuing a pre-existing engine doesn't give it a unique feel, which is part of what they are going for here.
that was exactly what I was about to say.
We have around 8 programmers working on the engine.
and we are around 40+ members compared to Tierra's 3+
That's why we are going for something much bigger than what Tierra achieved. Just wait. We'll show off some stuff, we just don't want to show everything we have achieved.
Sincerely,
César
the structure of the KQ9 game and Tierra's cant be compared, we are both working on the same adventure field, but to be honest, the kq team (as Cesar said), its gathered up by separated teams with many people that are handleing parts of the game -at the same time- its a massive work done so far, achieved in such a short time because the team finally got along around june or july from last year, a lot of other organization issues has made it slow down, but since it got more together as far as I recall its been making up for that lost time, which is why many of us are so positive about the results given.
each team specialize on its field and thats why the product given is so apprecciated and good, and thats why its being dedicated to it hase made it move faster, everyone takes care of its individual task, all teams working along the way.
I think the biggest question here is whether a fan group can produce a game that meets today's commercial standards (that's what you're going for, right?) ;)
That's might make even more people doubt you, since most fan projects (at least the ones I've seen) would end up looking like games that were made 10 years ago, if they produce a game at all :-/
;D *sigh* :D
oh my, Im happy happy :)
All at its moment!!! but I think you would be pleased alright with the final product :) -graphic speaking-
To be honest, yes, I think not just the game, but the team aim to a high competetive level, I dont see this orientated as "a fan game" these guys are working hard, so its not a flat out 2d engine, the goals are -bigger- than just achieve "a kq game" if that were the case i think cesar and rich would have gathered up whatever and published it...
But yeah, what I've seen -finished- is really good!, I mean all the 3d and textured stuff I'm really pleased with. So I believe they started out a really nice project that OF COURSE, since we dont live of it we cant work 24/7 to it ;D, but I believe its just as nice as it gets :)
You might think im just goofy about it, but Ive seen so close so many fan projects and I do get amazed with the project of this team so far, I mean, It doesnt looks like -a fan game-, its just a game, because it breaks up that tradition of flat 2d games of kq, and has this spicy plot which kq fans AND not kq fans can get totally involved with it and I love the fact of the progress and the plans of it on the way because its oriented in real terms, which means we are not aiming some impossible thing here, its being done and consecuently finished too :)
yay! :D
Sometimes I'm too optimistic for my own good. But until I read otherwise, I will consider this project moving along nicely. Don't have to see regular updates, just a few posts on the forum now and then from the PR-team (or is Say the only one? ;D ) will do.
Carry on! ;)
Say: "I have something really REALLY big to tell you, but I won't"
You're starting to sound a lot like Cesar! :o
hahaha unlike cesar, my projects are not like that, Im just waiting for my team to get back to meee :), for me to talk to them about some new stuff :P
thats why I cant share much right now, because I need it to be -fully- approved, with the terms clears so we can start them already, hopefully mine shouldnt take over a month, I hope... ::)
