I seriously doubt the game's being released in 21 days! I think it'll probably be a trailer or a huge announcement of some kind...but I doubt the game's actually being released: especially since the character contest hasn't ended and the online voice auditions are still being judged (last I heard).
Oh yeah, and when do the special privaleges of the Fannatics come in?
i agree that it wont be the actual game release...this is a MAJOR SUPER-CALI-KQ-LICIOUS-XP-FANNATIC-DOCIOUS project so i suspect they'd need more time if they've yet to reveal character and voicey contests.

Yeah, now that I put more thought into it, it might just be the first glimpse of the game in motion. I mean, the front page has, "The truth is finally uncloaked. See the silver lining in...". The "see" part kind of hints at that. Well, like you said, kimmie, it's gonna be something good anyways. I would think that the first game trailer would be something that would get this kind of promotion. Only time will tell.

You should see a frame made up of images, and a Flash teaser in the middle. Since that Flash is 2MB, the images might not be able to download quickly enough, and they're timing out (are you on dial-up?). Anyway, you should be able to right-click on those blank boxes with X's and choose Show Picture. :)

I just tried that and it doesn't work. :-[ The music loads rather quickly, though, as I am using wireless high speed internet. Although my internet connection is still pretty bad.

Okay, so I have downloaded the latest version. (although, I now think that I have had it but didn't realize it) Is the flash teaser the countdown, or is it something that I can not see. If it's only the countdown clock, then I think I am set. The frame thing isn't exactly the most important thing. I opened up the frame images seperatly in a browser window, and it just looks the same as the second KQ9 teaser. So I guess I am set. I like the theme a lot, but I am wandering if there is a way to download it to my computer and then transfer it to my PSP. (I only need to know how to download it to my computer, as I know how to bring it to my PSP.)
Now, all that I have to do is wait until the designated date, and I will either find out the release date of the game, the first trailer, or I will log on to see the first chapter of the game brought online. (I'm hoping for choice 3. Anyone else hoping for that?) Although I do think that it is a little too early for the entire game to be released. Maybe you will release a new chapter of the game each month or week in a new newsletter, as that would satisfy the eager waiters, (or basicaly everyone here) and it would give you more time to polish the game and add finishing touches.
I will be facing many sleepless night leading up to the day when all is revealed. Maybe you will announce the date of the game's release as well as the first trailer of the game simultaneously. (If it's a trailer, I hope it's a long one! ;D)

For some reason I thought it was 5:00 at first too but I think it's 4:00 now too. BTW I DO use daylight savings. My reasoning is that the last time I looked at it, it said in three minutes it would be 20 hours plus however many days. So if at 8:00 EST there are 20 hours left how can it end up on an odd number? I counted it out when I made my post before and it works out to 4:00.
I guess the countdown will give you different results depending on which timezone you're in, and whether you are in daylight savings or not.
Anyway, it doesn't matter where you live in the world, once it hits 0, get ready! XD

I don't care whether its the actual game or a trailer... Once the trailer is released the game is sure to soon follow anyway. Using the flash intro was a great way to get the word out... i refreshed a couple times to make sure i wasnt seeing things.

Well, I don't know what the big suprise is going to be, but to comment on what you said; I think they will release the game before the voice auditions are done. I emailed them a little while ago just to find out if they had decided one way or another about mine (I know, I'm impaitent ::)). Anyway, they said they hadn't even gotten to LISTENING to them yet, so it will be awhile until the auditions are done! But I think they will put the game out without the voices, and then produce the speech pack (like AGD).

I just don't think they'll put out a half-finished game (half-finished meaning without the voices) for the fans. I think they've waited this long to give us something we'll enjoy. Well seeing as how they were seriously considering to make the voice pack mandatory, I doubt that theory holds any water. They might have even decided already to make it mandatory, but even if they haven't, I doubt they'd release the game without the voice pack.
Anyway I'd say that the countdown is towards the next "big" update (every update is big in its own special way ::)). In this update I expect some word on the online auditions, the closure of the voting for the character contest, perhaps the results of the contest, and probably a trailer. Also hopefully that new feature they've been hyping up for the entire year ;D

I hope so. I only thought they might put out the game and the speech pack at different times since they said the pack is going to be spereate for downloading. But I hope you're right and that they don't put out anything until everything is done.
The exact words they said in the email were: "We still have not gone through the online voice auditions yet, but we will be starting them soon." This was around the beginning of April.
Man, I remember last year when before I left for summer vacation in early July, Mike said he'd start looking them over that weekend...

Mike's been busy with other KQ9 duties, including 3D texturing and recording the live voices (which have higher priority than the online ones).
Also, we are not planning on releasing the game without the voice pack. It will be a separate but highly recommended game component. 8)

Well, I guess that guarantees that we won't have the game out for a while! *Starts thinking about the update*
It's all about the new AoTW format Cesar wants to unveil...of course it could also be that long-awaited announcement that the game will be text-based and have 16-bit sprites to get back to the look-and-feel roots of the oldschool KQ.
Just one chapter released is like ordering a large pizza...they deliver one slice and tell you the rest of the pizza is still in the oven...it'll be out "sometime" so just chew on that one piece as long as you can, maybe even regurgitate it and see how many ways you can chew it again.
Now sure this analogy is unnecessarily graphic...but I'm an unnecessarily pleasing person like that

I hope it's the first game trailer and a playable demo as well as the new art of the week. I miss the updates to the art of the week. I seem to like it a lot. The art work is very good as well.
I'm betting it's a trailer or a playable demo of the game. It says "see the silver lining in...", so my first guess is that it's a trailer. If it is a trailer, I hope it's a long one, and not just some thirty second trailer.

The frame works fine in IE (but I can't see the pictures just a bunch of x's) but not in Netscape or Firefox.

Soo.... I think it's been about a year since I've posted... and then I got my KQIX newsletter telling me about a countdown.... so I decide "Hey, I should show up and see what this is about!" I'm glad I showed up when there were only 6 days left in the countdown; I don't think I could have handled twenty!
Anyway, I'm excited out of my skull. May 15th is now marked on my calendar with a little crown. ;D

Thanks for the fix! The x's in IE ment that it couldn't load the pictures. But that is just on my computer. And people wonder why I don't use IE... :P

Listen is it just me or is the count-down supposed to be counting down from 622 days? Because from what I recall, it should be showing something like 3 days. Does my sytem just suck or is it in fact a little early to get my hopes up? ;-)
