On Sunday, May 15th, 2005 the King's Quest IX team will celebrate KQ9.org's 3rd Anniversary by hosting a chat in the KQIX Chamber (http://www.tsl-game.com/chat/). From 4PM â€" 6PM EST (GMT -05:00) fans will get a chance to talk in realtime with members of the KQIX Development Team, including the directors, artists, musicians, and programmers!
The first hour of the chat will be reserved for questions from invited members of the press including: Just Adventure, The Inventory, Game Informer, PC Gamer, and more. Also during this chat, we will finally be announcing the game's release date and other exciting surprises! XD
I hope to see you all there! 8)

It's part of it. 8)
HOLY COW O.O
There's no way I can miss that :D
Neil, of COURSE you had to go and post the announcement an hour after I left today...and six hours before I got back home! I told you that I shouldn't be the last to know ;)
What do you mean? You were one of the firsts to know without me even telling you. ;P
XD WOW! You KQIX people rock! I don't know any of you personally, yet I feel really proud of you all. Just hearing about the release date gets me uber excited. In only three years you have made something lots of people just can't wait to get their grubby little hands on. Keep up your awesome efforts and give yourself a pat on the back (and a hug)! :D

Maybe so...but didn't think you wanted them to know that I found out without anyone telling me ;)
Thanks Tropicanafan! :)

Like Petter said in the Release Date thread, the truth was already out there. Well, part of it anyway. ;-D
Well congrats on the 3rd mark of ye sailing this fine ship, lads! Huh? What? Oh! This isn't a character contest thread? Let me slip out of my pirate clothes
INTERMISSION...
Ah! Back as myself! Well - congrats on the three year mark and I am sorry I missed the big announcement!
Will have to dig around then!

I wonder what the other part(s) is/are ::)
Are you going to update the FAQ, journal, and newsletter with everything you discuss? With my slow internet connection (along with other things) I probably won't be able to be there. :'(
You can always go to the page half an hour early and wait for it to load. ;P
But if you're still unable to make it, don't worry. We'll be posting the chat transcript on the site later on. 8)
Thanks! ;)
this is great but also not so great.
4pm would be like 6 in the morning on a saturday... ick!
You should be waking up at that hour anyway. *sighs*
Kids these days... ;P
Actually, I believe you converted the wrong way. Four in the afternoon is 5:30 am in Adelaide on Monday morning. But since I don't know how many hours ahead of me you are, then I can't tell you the exact time. :P

Haha, pretty good Jafar! All you need now is to add a :suffer:! ;D
:o *is too in awe to talk right now*...
*gets over that really quickly :P*
OMG! OMG! OMG! FWEEEEEE!!! That said, 12 more days...4 o' clock on the Sunday after Mother's Day. Must remember...must memorize. Wait a sec. If that's only part of the big important looking countdown on the home page...WAAA (I'm sick, tired, in pain, and have a high fever, give me some slack.)
The release date!? :o Consider me there!! I'm probably going to be ranting about this so much that I won't get any sleep at all! I'll try and be there, although I have never been in an online chat room, so I won't know what I'm doing. :P But I will still be there if I don't have anything to do. I'll even go and cancel all events I might have that day just to be there! I can't wait though!! If the release date is in a long time, I can wait as you guys have done an astounding job so far from the looks of the screens the Inventory released.
QuoteHaha, pretty good Jafar! All you need now is to add a :suffer: ! ;D
Does this mean I'm qualified to be on the team? :suffer:

oh! its sunday! yeah well then monday yeah, I got confused, I thought it was close of business Friday. I guestimated the 6am part, I will probably be awake then, but getting ready for work. You should only be awake 6am on Saturday morning if you are STILL up! :)
Well, I just realized that I won't be around for the 3rd Anniversary. :( I actually made plans today with some friends for next Sunday. One of my bestest friends is leaving in about two weeks for pharmacy school and will be about eight hours away (well, after I move, we'll be about 8 hours apart). So, because she's going straight into pharm. school and not "graduating" exactly, she, the Blur, and I are headed to the Renaissance Festival next Sunday to celebrate and say goodbye. So, I'll be missing it, but I'll definitely be there in spirit and WILL be reading the log.
Umm...any chance the fannatics might be told the date ahead of time (like, Sunday morning per email) as long as we're sworn to secrecy not to post it anywhere until Chamber? I really would hate to be one of the last to know *puppy dog face*
Awww... :(
We'll miss you. It just wouldn't be the same without you. :-\

Sorry, but the release date will only be announced on KQ9.org's Birthday, and not any time sooner. :P
yup, that and around 5 different gifts we will be handing out during the chat, so, for everyone else, BE THERE :)
Argh! Looks like I probably won't be able to make it. Dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit dangit.
I have this sudden desire to start singing:
Oh whhhyyyyyyyy,
Am I always the last to know? :P
So long as the transcripts are put up soon after, it's all good. :)
I'm sorry to hear you won't be there Cat :(
Yeah, I hate it too...but I can't dump my friends for this. Especially since I have no clue when I'll see her again. Well, I guess I'm going to have to wait for the log. :( I agree completely with Jae...
Oh whhhyyyyyyyy,
Am I always the last to know? :'(
AHHHHHHHHH!! XD That so rocks!! I will definitely try to be there. ;)
Sorry you have to miss it Cat. :( You too, Jael. Bleh. You guys need substitutes or something... :P Y'know, to take notes and win you prizes and schtuffs.
Oh yeah, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the KQ9 project!
:iluvu: :iluvu: :iluvu:
Well, I've already recruited someone to email or IM me the release date and other surprises so I don't have to read through the log :P

:suffer: Lazy little Cat. ;) Have fun with your friends, in any case. Very wise, they're more important than a 'puter game, no matter how Faboo it is. ;D
And the game's definitely Faboo! ;D
Well, and by the not having to read the log, well, that's so I don't have to read through the whole thing, taking who knows how long, in order to find out all the cool stuff. I'll read through it eventually, though, when I have time :P
This is great! I never find out about these chat things until afterward. And I have nothin' better to do that day! ;D I do wonder what else there will be... hehe. Just look at what a bunch of fans can pull off when they get together. Party hats for everyone! :pleased:
I will try my absolute hardest to be there since there will be five different things being announced or given out. That is unless my sister forces me off the computer in the middle of the chat. :P
But, anyways, whenever the game's release date is, it bis worth the wait, as you guys have done an astounding job on it just by looking at the pictures that the Inventory showed off. I am getting this game no matter what. I loved the KQ series, and this fan sequel looks to be VERY good. :) I hope this project gets to be a very popular game. I will even post a link to this site on my website for all to enjoy! Only like six or five days left...!
Thanks guys! :)
Glad to hear you'll be there. ;D
Wish I could attend, but it's at an ungodly hour at my place. Perhaps if I'm still awake at 4am...
Anyway, good luck for the celebrations. I hope it'll be a blast. :)
I'll do my best to be there! Hope I don't forget, perhaps I should write it down on my calendar. I'm so excited about the release date! We finally get to play the game in 4 days! yay!

Umm, actually you get to *know* when you'll finally get to play the game, lol! XD I like your version better, but alas... it is but the release date that is being released. :suffer:
My apologies if this has been stated elsewhere but...will there be a log of the party posted somewhere? I will not be able to attend...I work on that day, and work 2nd shift starting in effect at 4:45.
Yup the log should be on here eventually. :)
Only Neil can answer when.
Yes, we'll be posting a chatlog on the site after the event. I'll let everyone know once the log is made available. :)
What a great event everybody, and wonderful revelations. Thank you all. :)
*goes to bed at peace*
wow, what a day! i think i almost passed out in ken and roberta's presence, well see you guys next week at the chamber! (finally back to normal routine :P) ;D
Thanks again for all who attended! :)
The day was a huge success! :) For those that missed it, I'll be posting an edited version of the chatlog soon, and a summary of the events tonight in the Newsletter (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/newsletter). 8)
??? I read the game is in three parts.
From what I understand each part will be a separate game, but will all come under the banner "KQIX." Part 1 will be released this Winter, Part 2 I think next Winter, and I'm not sure about Part 3.
I'm 28, so the first game will come out in December when its winter. ???
So i'll be 29 when i have to wait for the second one to come at the next December. ???
When i'm 30, will i have to wait for the Third one to come at the next December. ???
Yeah I guess so.
Who said anything about December?
It's winter. ;)
??? What are these 3 part games about, are they short :-\ or long. 8)
??? What is the original game and what’s it about.
I'll simplify this(since I'm sure you'll have more questions)...
Wait for the chat to be uploaded to the site, then find out the answers yourself. :)
or, for a concise answer, you can check my last journal entry:
http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/journal
Each game according to Cesar is around average adventure game length, with the 1st and 3rd games being around KQ5 length and the 2nd being around KQ6 length.
Not sure what you mean by original game. Originally KQ9 was supposed to be one game but it became too big, so now KQ9 is actually made up of 3 different games. Think like the Lord of the Rings movies.
1st game: You control Graham
2nd game: You control Rosella and Alexander
3rd game: You control all three
There was a lot more revealed in the chat, but I can't remember it all, so make sure you read it when it's posted.
:o Unbelievable, i cant wait to get them all. ;D
:) I read at this website http://www.fanventures.com/ about what they said of an original game after the three part games. (we've found out that there will be an original game made after KQ9) :P Please correct me, i'm confused. ???
Oh, I see what you mean now.
Yeah they said that they'd work on an original game after KQ9 but that was all they were willing to say.
Oh, so the 3 part games IS the Original KQ9 Game right. :-[
...
Read the chat log when it comes out, hopefully it will be able to explain things better than I can. ;)
Original Games means original as in a new concept (unlike King's Quest which was a pre-established concept, one we did not create).
KQIX is made of original material based on the existing King's Quest Series.
King's Quest IX became so large, that we split it up in 3 parts. It's still the same game, only split in 3 parts.
Oh ok, thanks Cesar. ;D
hey cesar or neil, I missed the q and a part of the chat, I had to leave right after the music part, what questions were asked, and what is the actual release date, and is there going to be a playable demo
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
I missed it. I missed it. I heard it was tons of fun. :'(
Cheer up. *Gives Swift a KQIX hat and a cookie*
We learned lots of cool info about KQ9, and reading the chatlog will make you feel like you were really there.
to learn about the release date go to http://www.kq9.org and watch the new teaser!
Wow, I've been following this site for at least a year now, maybe longer, and I decided to finally register on the forums so I could give MAJOR props to the team creating KQ9. I've followed some other homebrew game projects, and compared to most of them you guys really have it together! Thank you for loving Kings Quest so much and continuing the legacy!! I can't wait for the game!
So, a couple little questions which will probably be answered in the chat log...but was an official release date given? And I assume this will only be Part 1 that comes out in the Fall/Winter?? If only one part at a time, any predictions on the time spacing between release of the other 2 parts?
Anyhow, thanks again...you guys rock!!
**Sorry Cesar, i must have been typing my message when you posted your info about release date...**
A lot of these questions were asked and answered during the chat. I'll be posting the log sometime this week. Once it's up I'll post a message in this thread and on the Home page. :)
thanx neil, I was at the chat, but had to leave before the questions were asked, I was at the interview and the release of the teaser, the screenshots, and music
KQ9.org's 3rd Birthday Chatlog is now available (http://www.tsl-game.com/chatlogs/kq9birthday2005.php)! XD
Of course! I'm about to get off so I can go to work! Of course it's available when I'm not XD
:P
Thanks Neil, I'll be reading it as soon as possible!
Even with massive editing, that chat log will take a while for you to read everything. It's best you read it when you're back from work. 8)
Thanks Neil! :D *Dashes off to read the log*
Massive editing=taking out the "Winter"s and "Where can we find the release dates"s? :P
Nah, those are all still in there. :P I mostly took out all the: joins, nickname changes, quits and the insaneness after the chat ended. XD
Awwww, but the insanity was the fun part! :P
