Title: Alexander
Post by: awesomeasapossum on September 20, 2005, 06:59:25 PM
Alexander walked down the bumpy road. It felt wrong to leave the castle now of all times. He could still imagine his family sprawled on the floor. He did not know why he had run. When he came to Daventry for a visit he had only imagined happiness. Now the land was filled with despair. When he entered the castle the first thing he saw were the guards, pinned to the walls with pained expressions on their faces. Alexander ran to his father to inform him of the guards, when he found them.
They were frozen solid. But not by ice. Strange waves of energy pulsed and radiated across their bodies. Emotion overwhelmed him. Anger writhed around in his body trying to escape.
He ran far away from there, trying to escape the scene that he had just witnessed. But he couldn't escape it. Even now the images were burned into his mind.
"What am I doing?" He thought. "This isn't what father would do." "I cannot let emotions alone overwhelm me. I most find out what happened. He slowly turned and then burst off running. He ran in the direction of Castle Daventry hoping that he wouldn't be too late.
"I can't let fear alone destroy me," he said, "I must save my family. I must save Daventry."

He reached the castle near midnight. Light fog clung to the water of the moat and the monsters in the moat sparkled in the moonlight. Alex crossed the bridge and entered the throne room. Crouched over something on the ground was Rosella. "Rosella?" Alexander started. "How did you-" Rosella's finger rose to her lips silencing him. Alex whispered, "Rosella...how did you unfreeze? What's happening? Who did this to you and-" "SILENCE." A deep voice echoed through the room. Alex turned. There stood his worst enemy. Worse than Mordack, who has kidnapped him and his family.
Worse than Alhazred, who had almost killed his true love. It was Manannan. Of course Manannan wasn't human. He was a small black cat and his yellow eyes were staring at him, almost boring through his soul.
"What? But how? And when?" Alexander stuttered through clenched teeth. "All in good time my dear boy..." Manannan replied malevolently, "But first...ROSELLA!!! Get away from there!" Rosella cowardly backed away from what was lying on the ground. Clenched in her hands was a small, velvet satchel in which the sounds of money were jingling. More gold lay on the floor. Anger flashed through Alexander's eyes. "Rosella," he pleaded, "Tell me that you didn't except his bribery...Tell me that you-" "I said SILENCE!" Shouted Manannan. He approached Alexander. "Now then....as for you."

"To answer all of these horrid questions that keep spewing out of your mouth..." Manannan sneered, "Yes I am back. My magic is more powerful than ever and I will single handedly destroy every member of this world that opposes me." "But," Alexander asked, "What about Rosella?" "What about Rosella?" Manannan mimicked, "She knew about me for some time. I arrived six months ago in the form of this awful cat and when I overheard her crying over somethinhg or another I...took advantage." "I told her that I was a cat with magical powers and could grant her her any wish if she told me everything she new about this wretched castle and it's surrounding lands. Of course you obviously know that she spilled her guts and it was then that she rushed down to tell your family what had happened." He paused to let everything he had just said sink in then started again. "I could not let her do this because I was almost sure that your father would realize the dangers immediately. I rushed downstairs along with her and then froze every member in the doom. Except of course for those fools you called guards. It's a pity that even Mordack could afford better guards than that."
"But what about the gold you gave Rosella?" Alexander asked. "Ahhh..." After seeing you enter the first time and then leave I realized that you would most likely come back. When the spell wore off I froze your motherand father again and then told Rosella that if she would leave this land and never return after telling me her wish she would get it granted. At first, she said no but then I offered a generous heap of travel money and she was convinced. And can you believe what her wish was?" Manannan asked, "She wanted to find a true love just like you and your horrid father!!!" At this he left out a stream of terrible dark laughter. Alexander's temper rose extroadinarily and he reached down to the cat, planning to hurtle him across the room.
But he was too late. Manannan backflipped and in mid-air transformed into his former self. He shot fireballs and lightning from his hands in an attempt to subdue the wrath that Alexander was inevitably going to release. But it was not enough. Alex rushed through the stream of magic to Manannan and grabbed him by his collar. Manannan just smiled. "I have something special in mind for you...Gwydion." "NOOOOOO!!!!" Alex screamed, letting go of the wizard and backing up. His memories of his life with Manannan flooded throughout his brain washing away the happiness that his family had bestowed on him since his arrival home in Daventry. "Don't you dare call me that!" He screamed. "I'll do what I want Gwydion." Manannan said and then propelled such force towards Alexander that he was pinned to the wall.
"You have failed to realize," Manannan stated, "That I am still your master! Now bow down to me slave or your father dies!" Alex didn't know what to do. He couldn't let his father die though. Alex slowly bowed to Manannan and when he arose Manannan was cackling with laughter. "You are no imprisoned to my bidding!" He laughed. "Your soul is forever enslaved by my magic!"

Lol! I like the new title. Again I love the story, please add more as soon as you can. Did Manannan bribe Rosella? I was thinking of a story the other day where Malicia marries Shadrack and they rule the word in evil together...

Hey, I just read your story, I really like it. How could Rosella be so stupid, or has she knowingly slipped into immoral and evil ways? Keep going, I hope Alexander woops that evil wizard's butt! Please read my stories and comment on them, tell me what you think.

Alexander was terrified. Who knew what maniacal tasks he may be forced to do now? Rosella had left earlier and Manannan was somewhere else in the castle. "Maybe I can escape," he thought. He dashed to the door hoping Manannan wouldn't realize he was gone until it was too late. He reached the gates and swiftly crossed the bridge.
Suddenly, Manannan arrived in a cloud of flames. "Now, Now, Now," Manannan said, "Gwydion....why are you here?" "I do not remember sending you out here, so do you agree that a proper punishment is in order?" Alexander said nothing. "For not answering to your master you must pay the ultimate price!" Alexander looked shocked. "No," Manannan shouted insanely, "Not your death! No, you have a new chore. And if you do not do it all Daventry shall be destroyed and evil shall rule the blackened earth that used to be Daventry!!" He cackled and then Alexander said frightened, "W-What i-is the c-ch-chore?" "What is the chore?" the wizard asked, "What is the chore? The 'chore' is this: You must kill your sister Rosella or fail trying."
Alexander was stunned.

Alexander's spine shookwith fear. It was if his whole body had been incased in ice and his emotion was slowly trickling out of his body melting the ice in small drops of cold dark water. He was scared. No, more than scared, terrified. Manannan was gazing down at him his eyes glaring with malevolence. He had once again changed to his hideous wizard form.

There was a short ripping sound and a chunk of Manannans beard floated away in the breeze. "You insolent little fool!" Mananannan shouted in rage, "How DARE you defy me! Now I Order you to kill your sister....or ALL DAVENTRY shall be reduced to ashes and you shall see your family die a long painful death..." He waved his hand anmd Alexander felt a tugging sensation. Then he was gone.

Alexander approached Rosella with a knife in hand. He had thought it over and realized that this was the way to go. Even though Rosella was his only sister he had decided that killing her was the thing to do. He approached her and began to unfold his well rehearsed lie. "Rosella!" He called, "Manannan left. Daventry is restored to it's fullness. Mother and Father sent me to get you. Come here." Rosella gasped, "Yes! You did it! I knew you could! Thank you Alexander. I love you brother!" It was now or never. Alexander jumped forward and thrust the knife into Rosella. She let out a soft cry of pain and her perfect white gown was soon dirty with blood and dirt. It was over. Alexander had done it. Daventry was saved. He strode back home with a heavy heart. He didn't believe that he could live with himself. He got back and was shocked to see the castle on fire! Manannan's sillouette was standing before it and his mother kneeled on the ground pleaing for justice. When he got closer he found his father tied to a tree with several wounds scattered throughout his body. Manannan zapped Alexander's mother with a bolt of lightning. She collaspsed onto the ground. Connor galloped forward trying to stop Manannan from another attack on Graham and was reduced to a steaming pile of ash. Alexander gasped in horror. He ran towards Manannan and was shot backwards with a force from the magician that knocked the wind out of him and rattled his head. Manannan approached King Graham with a look of pure rage in his eyes. All Alexander could do was cry...

I hope everyone likes it. I am going to post some more. Just to warn everyone I might be almosted finished with this tragic tale.

Alexander's shoulder's shook violently as tears streamed down his face. Manannan laughed viciously and approached King Graham. He grabbed his wand and muttered a few incantations then Graham's body glowed with a malevolent crimson light. He screamed in terror as if Manannan was torturing his soul. Manannan glided closer to Graham and spoke to him in an icy whisper, "Your kingdom is mine. Farewell Graham." He threw back his head in laughter as King Graham's face paled and his head slumped lifelessly against the tree trunk. King Graham of Daventry had fallen...

Alexander awoke, his head throbbing in pain. "Where am I?" he asked himself. Then he realized that Manannan had teleported him to Rosella's location. Rosella rushed up to him at that moment. "Alexander," she cried, "Your alive! I can't believe it!" She hugged him tightly. "I-I had a horrible nightmare," Alexander said. "I killed you with a knife and..." "What is it?" Rosella asked. "The knife...Rosella! Manannan is watching us at this very moment. He wants me to kill you. Listen Rosella. Run. Run far away. Maybe I can-HUYYAGHH!!!" Alexander was thrown yards away by an invisible force. Manannan appeared in a burst of flames and pushed Rosella roughly to the hard cold ground.
When Alexander approached the spot that he was at he saw-NO! How could this be?! TWO completely identical Rosellas. Both of them said simoultaneously, "YOU CAN ASK US EACH ONE QUESTION. THE SAME QUESTION. THEN YOU MUST PICK THE CORRECT ROSELLA."

TO BE CONTINUED....

Rosella didn't know what to do. Next to her was a clone of herself in every way. She was on Alexander's right. She had to think of some way to clue Alexander that she was the REAL Rosella. But how? HOW?! Then she thought of something. Something brilliant. Something that her father, mother, and brother would be proud of. Something that would prove that she had her father's "adventuring blood" inside her. Of course she already knew she had her father's "adventuring blood inside her.
Her plan involved something Alexander had said moments before the other her appeared. The quote still echoed in her mind:
Quote from: Alexander"The knife...Rosella! Manannan is watching us at this very moment. He wants me to kill you."
Looking to the ground she spied what she was looking for. When Alex had been knocked backward by the elderly man he had dropped the knife. She reached down pretending to adjust her flowing silver garments. She quickly picked up the knife and thrust it into her chest.

Manannan couldn't believe what he was seeing. The REAL Rosella was picking up a  knife. She was going to do the job herself. But should he do the same to throw Alexander off? He wasn't sure. He figured that he should just be safe. Just in case Rosella was really just trying to catch Alex's attention. But what if she was just adjusting her garments? He decided to try to read her mind. Concentrating very hard, he probed through her early memories.

Rosella acted when it looked like Manannan was concentrating on something else. She quickly stabbed Mannan with the knife. Just once. That should do the trick.

Suddenly Manannan realized what Rosella had done. Even though he still had his magical powers he for the most part WAS Rosella. And because of what he'd said earlier about evil ruling Daventry if Rosella wasn't killed.

Alexander was amazed. One of the Rosellas had stabbed the other and now the one that had been stabbed was writhing on the ground, acrid smoke billowing out of her nostrils. She suddenly changed to Manannan. His body shook as if it were in an earthquake and red and yellow light flowed out of his hands. Then a black, menacing,  ghost-like object seeped out of his chest and evaporated. The knife floated out of him and landed on the ground softly, while his skin became wrinkled and older. His hair fell out, and when it hit the ground it burst into flames. Finally, he slowly deflated, and then turned to a pool of dark-blue liquid. The liquid suddenly turned to steam and then he was gone. Manannan of Llewdor had been defeated.

Thanks but it ain't over yet. It's got 2 parts!

Four days later at Castle Daventry....

"Thank you Alex. Rosella. You have truly helped save Daventry," King Graham said. "I am so proud of BOTH of you," Valanice put in. Just then a bird, Sing-Sing to be exact, fluttered through one of the windows. It landed softly in front of the magic mirror, breathing laboriously, its eyes darting about the room. Alexander knelt down and spoke to it, "Sing-Sing! Sing-Sing are you all right?!" The whole family had surrounded the poor creature by now, and were quietly wiping tears from their eyes. Alexander took the parchment attached to its feet and quickly unrolled it. He quickly scanned over it and then dropped it, shocked. Rosella bent down and read through the quickly scrawled message.

           Dear Alex,
I can only pray that this note reaches you safely.            Something terrible has happened. A dark magic has surrounded the castle. It won't let anyone in or out. It rains and thunders all day and the sky is choked with darkness. You must come quickly so that you may defeat him. I'm not sure if you've met him before but his name is

Alexander shuddered. "Who would do such a thing?! And poor Sing-Sing..." "There is much evil in this world Alex. You and your sister may have defeated one of the most evil people in the world but there arte still others," Graham stated. "Go, Alex. And Rosella, too. Find out what created this and stop it." "We will Father," Rosella and Alexander said in unison. They approached the the magic mirror...

The Land of the Green Isles 2 hours later...
Alexander stood on a very familliar beach. His sister, Rosella was standing next to him. Rain pelted the pair relentlessly. They silently walked up the path to the castle. What they saw amazed them. The castle was not surrounded in darkness as Cassima's letter had suggested. In fact, even though it was raining it was still sunny and warm. The rain slowly ceased and Cassima raced out of the castle towards them. "Alex! Alex!" She cried, "I'm so happy to see you! I don't know why but Mannanan has disappeared, and so has the evil that once choked our fair land!" Alexander and Rosella were even more amazed. "Mannanan was behind this?!" Alexander asked. "Of course!" Cassima exclaimed, "Didn't you read the rest of my letter?"
"There was more?" Alexander asked. Just then Sing-Sing flew up to greet them. The small bird clutched a letter. It was from Graham and Valanice. Alexander read it aloud.
"Dear Alex and Rosella,
On the back of the letter sent to you by Cassima it said that Mannanan was the one behind it. I'm sure that what you did to save Daventry effected the Green Isles also. How silly of us to not look on the back! I guess we were all too worried with Sing-Sing. Your mother and I will be coming to visit you all soon!
Love,
Graham and Valanice"

The End

Tell me what you think of the ending.

Whoa! I just copied and pasted the whole story into Microsoft Word, changed the font to Times New Roman, 12 pt. and then I made the paragraph spacing to 1.5 and the story is 7 pages long!

Kind of a surprise ending, but I guess you wanted to keep it short. I thought maybe it could be Alhazared behind the trouble in the Land of the Green Isles. Glad everything turned out ok. And is Sing-Sing alright? She's such a sweet little bird.

I might just disregard the other ending and keep it as an alternate ending. I was just so caught up in the fun of writing a fan-fic that I didn't know what I got myself into. XD  ::) Realizing my mistake, I just finished it quickly.
