Well, I decided to try Dosbox and see if it worked with the old King's Quest games on my Roberta William's Anthology. Well, it seemed to work fine except when I run them from Windows 98SE the games are in full screen and they are in a box when I run the games in Dosbox. I noticed the music in KQ4 was a little off in Dosbox but worked great in 98SE. I also have been able to run KQ4 in XP but without any music. Anyway, I just felt like telling everyone in the forum that I like experimenting with new programs for the computer and I had heard a lot about Dosbox and so I decided to try it out.
Yeah, I don't know what's up with fullscreen in dosbox.. apparently someone managed to get it working though so that the game fils the screen...
I never had any problems with fullscreen...Have you tried setting up the music with the sierra install programs?
Naw, I have not really tried too much in Dosbox but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Anyway, Jafar how did you manage to get Dosbox to run in full screen.
I pressed Alt-Enter. :P It worked in 98, 2000, and XP.
Thanks, I will have to try that -- funny I did not notice that in the readme or faq --- ;) 8) :P
If you want to make it easier to play the games in dos-box get the
D-fend program it makes it easy to access your games and lets keep all of them in a nice little window list. Here's a list of the commands I have just in case you deleted your readme file.
Control-F5 = Print picture (The picture will go to a folder in Doxbox or Defend depending on if you have defend. You can also tell it where to go in defend.)
Control-F6 = Record and also stop recording for a wave file of the sounds and music playing at the time.
Control-F9 = Kill dosbox for a quick exit
Control-F10 = start-stop mouse emulation (So you can jump out to click a chatbox in IRC) ;)
Control-F11 = Slow down the emulation
Control-F12 = Speed up the emulation
Alt-Enter = to Maximize and Minimize the window.(Fullsize or not Fullsize)
