Title: Question about applications...
Post by: dark-daventry on May 15, 2006, 01:47:14 PM
I am contemplating applying for the PR Assitant, but I would like to know about something on the application... It asks for examples of large scale communication settings, such as websites and such... Would this forum count as such, or would it not? Also, it asks for report making, like in Excel or word, I don't know how to do them, but I could figure it out... I don't have Excel, but I did use it at school once to make a report on something... Is there anyway to get Excel to do it? Like free... I do have word, but I'm afraid I don't know how to make a report in it... If you mean like a written report, not a visual one, then I'd be fine most likely... Is there any examples of what I may/may not be doing If I was pottentially chosen? Would I be talking to VU or anything? Thank you for your support, and I hope I am chosen... I have not filled out the application quite yet, as I need these questions answered first... I have one more question... Is there an age requirement on this posistion... Do you have to be 18 or older, or not? And would I be talking to people over a phone, or would it be online? Thanks!

EDIT: I have one (or two) final questions! What does it mean by description of talent? Also, it says that you will send an e-mail for a resume or portfolio... What would such a thing consist of for the PR Assistant job? Would it be urls to sites that you visit and talk actively on, or would it be like IM chat logs, or something of the sort? Thank you for your help...

AFAIK, there is no age requirement for any of those positions.

Thank god! Thanks... Now I just need someone to answer my other questions...

EDIT: I just sent the application, hoping for the best! If this won't get me on the team, nothing will! Cross your fingers everyone!

Deloria, you're certainly a UNIQUE case, girl. The youngest of my team and that's cuz Jesse vouched for you, and I'm glad he was so right about it all. :)

Either way, DD is not that young and you should give me your msn so I can reach you out online. And we can talk.

Thanks for applying, DD! ;D

Usually reports are done in Excel, but it's possible to do them instead as a table in Word too.  It's just easiest to update and clearest to see when they're done in Excel.

All those other questions you can ask Say over MSN. :)

Thank you so much guys! I love you all! This community is so cool! Say, I'll give you my MSN over pm. Is that okay? I just want to be sure that you are accepting applications for PR assistants... I had to go do research on a resume! (It's a lot harder than I thought!)

EDIT: How exactly do I do the MSN thing? What do you mean by that? I assumed you meant screenname, but I'm not sure anymore...

Do I send you my screename as pm or e-mail, as I did both... And I am not availible during the day, only after around 2:30 ish... So I don't know whether you can do that... And how do I find you online? (I hardly even instant message! I do like once a month!)

I have done thinking, and wish to withdraw my application to POS, if that is okay... I now feel that I rushed into things so to speak. I have realized, thanks to Rosella, that I may not be quite cut out for the team. I would have a lot of work to do, and I'd have the weight of the world on my shoulders. I would have school work plus my job, and that could leave insufficient time for the project. I am sorry, but I must ask that you now ignore my application to the team. If anyone has any problems with my decision, feel free to contact me either by e-mail, pm, or IM. Thank you all!

Why? You should feel happy that you made me realize that I'm just not cut out!  ;D Don't be sad, and don't feel bad. Don't Worry, Be Happy! (That's something I learned at my camp...) Besides, I have too many things to do! You shouldn't feel bad at all, Rosella! You helped me! I would have been a terrible PR Assistant anyway! I would likely not even have gotten picked! So I thank you, rosella!

Why? You should! And thank you again! It would be a kind gesture for you to translate the french for me!

I haven't posted about this but it's about time I do so. Do not take this personal but this is an important note for EVERYONE who approaches me from today and forward.

First and foremost, I don't know what Rosella would have to say about this to anyone hence she's not part of the team, neither has worked with me for her to have such a negative influence towards applicants. If there's any question about time availability, about work schedules, about responsibility share and whatnot, you could contact ME or NEIL for an OFFICIAL answer.

Second, If that's as much as it takes for you to take back an application then you just shouldn't be part of the team at all. We work under legal terms, meaning that a NDA must be signed and obviously you're to become legally tied to TSL project. Which is something to not be taken as lightly as it is. Sorry to be so harsh.

Third, for crying out loud this goes for ANYONE who can read this. I'm busy and I don't have time to fool around, whoever who wants to get the real deal about what is this about, you're MORE than welcome and I'm open to it. But, whoever who plays something like this on me, think about it TWICE before you do it.

And one more note, I do appreciate the support, but I wonder what the deal is to back off someone to do something like this. I didn't appreciate that, and that' why I'm saying what I'm saying.

There's not more to say about this topic, therefore it should be locked. For SERIOUS info and whatnot, then contact the right people.

Title: Applications
Post by: dark-daventry on May 28, 2006, 04:12:22 PM
I have decided to resubmit my application to the team. When Say wants to contact me, she can go ahead. I am open to discussion of it now, and apolgize with my heart about last time. But this time I PROMISE that I mean it! I promise one hundred percent! Some of you may not believe me, but I mean it this time. Last time Rosella convinced me not to, but I decided to go for it now! Despite her reasons I have decided to go and apply. Does this mean that I have to go and re-apply? And please don't lock this one!

After many PM's and one email, it sounds a bit too far fetched of you to demand my attention at that level, you've got some nerve.

Seriously, it's not Rosella's fault neither ANYONE'S fault but your own, you decided to just go ahead and do as you felt convenient no matter what was said by who, so I'm sorry right now I do not need more PR representative neither I need more mods neither I need more web staff OR community representatives. I've already packed my team and I'm moving on with the staff I've got.

Have you know how many times my own family, even my own fiance has come to me and pointed out all the negative things towards just giving out my time and my dedication for free? but it is MY choice, and even though it consumes ME already, that I fall short on time and whatnot, I am here and it's my choice to be here.

I'm sorry things happened like that, but PLEASE stop begging it makes it all just WORSE. You made a call right after you got my attention, I even spared my time for you at the office to talk to you about it, and you had made up your mind about it. Now oportunity has passed you by and I'm afraid I'm not interested in hiring anyone else at the moment. I'll keep you in mind for a future but don't hold your breath on it because as I said, I only pay attention to serious individuals who do know what devotion is, no matter how discouraging world can get to be, I know I can trust people.

Also, being on the team doesn't mean that you've just got safe, the NDA people sign allows them understand how important it is to be responsible, to follow rules, deadlines as well as to understand the confidentiality agreement that this means, meaning that it's a legal contract that POS is entitled to continue or just cancel at any moment due to any circumstance. So, being on the team is far more demanding than just trying to apply for it, therfore being consistant is something that I do not expect but demand for every single member of my staff.

This isn't a game for me that's why I'm not playing games neither getting caught up in situations like this. Sorry.

Say already knows my thoughts on this matter, but I thought I'd make some of them clear, since I've seen this underlying issue come up time and time again in so many different manifestations it's not even funny.

In a project like this, there is one key quality you will need that will set you apart from the rest, and that is passion.  There is no money motivating anyone on this team, so the only reason we've made it this far is because of passion.

Passion is what this game was founded on, and is what convinced Vivendi to change their minds.  Passion is what drives you to not only meet people's expectations, but to exceed them.  Passion is going above and beyond your call of duty for no ulterior motive, other than to simply be proud of your work.  Passion is what sets our project and team apart from those that fail.

If you were truly passionate about joining this team, you wouldn't let anyone convince you otherwise.  You would not let your weaknesses become reason for us not choosing you.  Instead, you would prove your worth to us through your strengths.

When I wanted to join this team, I actually had absolutely no experience in PR and my web skills were far less than they are today, but I did not let that stop me from achieving my goal.  I worked hard to prove myself to this community, team and now industry.  That's how I got to where I am today, and that's what drives me to where I want to be tomorrow.  Passion.
