And bah at Neil...we were right, though! :P
*doesn't have a stamp or a pet either*
That's ok though; we can have an "I don't have a stamp" group. :P
Should the "I don't have a stamp" group get a stamp? It can say "I don't have a stamp and all I got was this lousy stamp" :D :D
What? :P

Or it might be later, and if it is, going to college would be helpful. ;P
And if it isn't, we might all die today :D :P
The movie about the Mayans scarred me for life, so I'm not about to take much they say seriously. :P
I'd rather not die an idiot. ;P
Well I don't think anyone is exactly an idiot if they can get into college to start with. :P
Yeah, but if you don't apply....you aren't very educated.
Not necessarily. Some people who graduated from the governors school I almost applied to go straight from high school to a job and make 6 figures. ;P
There's part of the script in the journal. And how exactly does Hermione resemble Rosella? :P
EDIT (By Yonkey):
- General "Caht" Threade? XD
- Fixes icon, since it "accidentally" got trashed by koko XD
It's obvious! They're my two favorite alter-egos! :P
The journal is one of your alter-egos? o_O
;P
Of course! XD
Why is this a "Threade"? :P
Deloria created it, ask her. XD
Deloria...? ;P
It's Elde Englishe! ;D :P

Don't complain. Old General Chat is better then No general chat at all. :P
Elde General Chat is always superios to any general chat :P
Elde Englishe shallst triumph over "new" englishe anydayeth!
Well, actually, it seems modern English has triumphed over Elde, considering the dialect in which most of us speak. ;P

Hehehe. Yeah, Rob used to beg for spoilers even more than you guys do. XD
That's possible? :P
I think he's lying.....
But then, I'm crazy so what do I know?
Probably more than AUS :P
I'm not lying. XD Keep in mind how many posts B'rrr has and if you ever browse through them one day, count how many times he asks for a spoiler! ;D
XD
I know people like that, but then I'm one of them. And I don't have enough time to go through 9000 posts :P I need to get groupie before July 16! :P
What happens on July 16th? ???
The anniversary of when she registered. :P She wants to make it in under a year. XD
I'll be the fith person and the first female to do it!

Don't worry Deloria, You can do it!
If I posted that much back then, I probably would have gotten banned. ;P

Always for Neil
Sorta like your siggy?
Well that's very sweet of you!
We should make the average between 1 and 2 thousand. ;P
We should. :P
At one point we got over 500 a day, because everyone was on a posting spree :P
That's always fun. :D
I still think everyone should post more than they do.
I think so too. It's not fair to all the rest :P
Hey, I post a lot!
I know you do, but we need to get everyone else to do the same. :)
Why?
Because! ;B
This forum is da'best! And everyone should post to show their love!
Yay! Flower Power! (Another word for love...)
Yay! Insanity! (another word for this forum) XD

EDIT: Thanks to Deloria's two year unlock & revival of that thread (::)), I decided to read it through. It turns out my post (well, more my 4999th :P) influenced the whole rest of that thread! XD
So, yeah! *feels proud* (and a bit creeped out) ;P
I can't dance. :P
I can just barely. I'm occasionally alright at Hip-hop if I can remember everything, other than that I'm horrible :P I also like Flamenco, but I never took lessons, just a two day course twice.
Omgsh! *wants to see Deloria dance hiphop* XD
I can dance if there are specific things we're supposed to do. I'm good with choreography, the cha cha slide, and the macarena. :P
There are a couple other dances I know, but I can't remember any of them except Cotton Eye Joe. XD
There was a vontage dancing course at school last year. :P *remembers doing the Charleston :P*
We had a swing dancing class in 6th grade, but if you had a foreign language class you had to go. We were going Christmas carolling in French and since the other classes were out, we had to sing in French by the Spanish classrooms.

The threads that haven't been posted in since 2004 were locked for a reason... they're OLD! :P
But it's alright, there was actually some interesting information in it there that people might find valuable. XD

Any idea when the patch and voice pack will be released? I am holding out until then to play the game because I want to see KQ III in all its glory. It seems like a cease and desisit order from Vivendi only applies when someone is making a new quest based on an old but popular series like King's Quest as in the case of POS with TSL (formely KQIX).

Well, they also sent a C&D to a sex-inspired parody called Quest For Orgy. I don't believe that was a remake, but it's pretty obvious why Vivendi would want something like
that to cease and desist. :P
Oh, I understand :) Hope you didn't feel like I was being critical or anything. And I'm glad you're enjoying the demo so much. And you've done a great job of being "constructively critical" so it doesn't sound like you're "dissing" the game or anything :) Thanks for all your work to point out things that may not have been noticed before :)

Sierra has actually already sold a few of their IPs to other companies.
They sold the Goldrush IP back to the designers that made the game.
Apparently Mark Seibert was able to gain the rights to Pepper's Adventures in Time IP as he offers the game for free on his site.
They sold the IP to the online game "The Realm" to another company that keeps it alive.
As a side note there are certain games that Sierra never owned the IP's for so they can't rerelease the games(black cauldron for example).
The Black Cauldron is now freeware.
Who released it as "freeware"?
Are you sure it hasn't just been posted up as "abandonware" (which is not actually legal)?
Cause last I heard disney still owned the rights to it. Which was the reason why the disney Roberta Williams games sierra made were not able to be released in the Roberta Williams Anthology but only listed in the timeline in the manual.
The claim is Al Lowe -- Here is the site:
Google it and you will find it
He says they are abandoned so you are probably right. I don't know all of the technicalities of abandonware.
Well Abandonware isn't tecnically legal. Copyrights legally have about 70 years from the moment the product is copyrighted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware#Abandonware_and_the_Law
But hey Al Lowe is cool to throw laws to the wind, heh heh. Imo, Abandonware protects games that would likely be lost to history otherwise. Its also cool he's trying to make some money off his old games via donation buttons heh heh.
But I"m not sure you can actually post links to abandware games on this site, forum rules and all...
As a side note Ken Williams actually supports the concept of Abandonware and often has links to all sorts of sierra games on his fan website in the forums(therefore I can't link you to his site)...
He allows it despite the fact that Vivendi usually tries to protect their games from being passed around as abandonware. His view?
QuoteI have heard that there are sites that are distributing the old games. I even found one site that had the old Apple II games, and an emulator, for download! To the extent that Sierra doesn't object, I think it's great. Hopefully, they'll either distribute the old games, or look the other way as they are passed around the internet. I'd hate to see them just "cease to exist".
Whereas I would not post old Sierra games on this site, I am not opposed to including links to other sites here. I mentioned to one of Sierra's senior haunchos a couple of years ago that I had found a site from which to download all the old Apple games, and his only comment was to say "cool". My guess would be that Sierra will never officially bless the downloads, but neither are they likely to spend a lot of money chasing people who download games that can't be found in any other way.
That said, I feel very differently about people downloading a "really old" game like Kings Quest II than I do people downloading HalfLife. If a product can be found at retail, then any attempt to download it is piracy, and unacceptable behaviour. I see a distinction between preserving history and piracy.
-Ken Williams .
I guess if Al Lowe is putting games he worked on up as abandonware its possible that Mark Seibert might have put up the Pepper's game as abandonware as well. So it might be technically illegal.

So what is your real first name Tage7? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to because I went under dew7 for a long time till I felt okay about revealing my name. It is funny how identity theft of first my personnel identity and then my work identity helped me to put all my trust in a higher power than myself. Anyway, I am not here to debate religion which I know is forbidden in the forums but something greater than me is out there helping me through my crazy rollercoaster life. I remember praying for adventure in my life and that prayer was certainly answered. Thanks for all of your support and advice Tage7 and you really seem like a cool and friendly guy. I am really glad I became a member of this forum because it has helped me through rough times like the difficult times I am going through now.
BTW, my transmission on my car died recently but fortunately it is covered by an extended warranty on my Honda Civic 2001 EX Sedan. This car is on its 3rd cd player already and still has less than 100,000 miles on it. It was purchased in December 2000 and was a gift from my parents. I did pay for registering the car in Arizona and for all the upkeep after that including insurance, maintenance and fuel of course.
I am now seeing a psychologist to help me refocus and also taking medicine for my bad viral infection. I am even taking a small amount of medicine to help me calm down especially at night during this rough time. Finally, I am back at my folks house where they are helping me out greatly with all of my issues.
My parents are really cool to me. My dad is a minister and my mom is a retired special education teacher which really helps me since I work at the Albuquerque Public Schools. I am currently on leave pending this whole investigation. The interesting thing is that I had the 2 sick days and put the rest in as unpaid leave and now my bosses changed it to paid leave which is really nice since all the charges of computer sabotage were ludicrous and I think my immediate bosses at the school now realize that.
Okay Guys/Gals, now you can now some more about little old/young me --- 8)
Okay, I am just so curious as to what city/state/country you live in Animan but if you don't wish to share then I totally understand. I grew up in NYC in the statest (U.S.A.), went to college in the southwestern U.S., and now live in New Mexico. My real name is Daniel (God is my Judge) but I went as Danny back East in the Big Apple and usually as Dan here in the Southwest. I currently work as an educational assistant at an elementary school in the southwest. I have had a ton of problems with my identity since 2005 when the house I was renting in the Southwest was broken into and my social security card was stolen. I worked for an air force base as a civilian with children in the past for a few years. I currently had my home computer which is a dual-boot with 98 Second Edition on C:\ drive in Fat32 and XP Professional on D:\ drive hacked into via VPN (Virtual Private Networking) that I got from work --- there were some vulnerabities that the hacker(s) took advantage of. This hacker(s) was so good unless it was another hacker(s) that he/she broke through the 128 bit RC4 (Release Candidate -- 4) of my work email at webmail.aps.edu. Now that is a scary thought that someone was that good especially since I have been working with computer security since 1984. I know some programming such as BASIC on my IBM PCjr which I still have in storage and from classes I took at the University. Another language I know about is Java. Anyway, I was so stupid to trust my home computer to the work's -- APS (Albuquerque Public Schools) Intranet due to all the security vulnerabilities that they had. That was extremely stupid on my part and I have learned a valuable lesson here. Anyway, I have been serving on Jury Duty while I am on leave from work pending a complex and comprehensive investigation of all the junk that I have gone through. Take Care.
P.S. I warned the elementary school that I work at and am now planning to switch to another elementary school due to a false charge of computer sabotage by the assistant principal even after I had worked almost all of 2006 and to May 2007 on the school's computer issues and the school computer network was working great when I left. I was gone for 3 whole months while working as a Christian Camp Counselor and someone really messed up the whole computer network at the elementary school while I was gone. I remember the head computer lady whose name is Stephanie told me a former system administrator had locked down all the computers at the school back in Sept. 2006 to the equivalent of DOD (Department of Defense) standards because the person was so mad at the school. Actually, her words were that the computers had been locked down and I knew about DOD because I worked as a civilian at an air force base. Anyway, I am now more passionate than ever to have the Windows 9x source code used again for backwards compatibility for DOS Games and Educational Programs as well as support for Windows 3.x older games and educational programs that schools and consumers have to help the consumers have fun and our children to be educated more effectively. In addition, this could cut down on waste and money by not having old software thrown away in the garbage. In addition, I am hoping that a tri (3x) based source code will be released that will feature an open source browser like Mozilla Firefox with Windows 9x consumer line (like 98 Second Edition) and Windows NT (New Technology) as well as Unix/Linux Technology thrown in for good measure as an underlying maintenance operating system. You can find out more information here if you would like.

What's happened to What's Haven?
It has been archived, along with the weekly polls. My assumption is that with the POS PR department a thing of historical interest only they no longer intend or have the people to continue either. Not official confirmation, but I'd be pretty shocked if it was anything else.
Petra's correct. The resources necessary to continue those features are no longer available. Weekly Polls actually stopped back in April, and What's Haven stopped over a year ago.

That's kinda what I was thinking, plus several the other CSC majors would be in it with me, and I won't have to take Calc III with the professor that I have right now for Math reas who I do not particularly like all that much. So as long as my prof approves, and I can get it, I'm planning on taking that. But I'll have to make sure I pass Math reas (which is not a 100% certainty atm), as that's the prereq for it. :P
Math reas? ???
The BAD: Not knowing what a Math rea is. :P
Mathematical reasoning, if memory serves.
Hmm... I took two courses that involved mathematical reasoning... Did you mainly work with proofs, or was it predicate & propositional logic?
Proofs, mainly. We covered different strategies for doing proofs, and now he's teaching us point set topology so we have something we've never seen before to practice them on. I'm not sure what predicate and propositional logic is though. :P
I'm not entirely sure if I know what point set topology is either...
Propositional calculus is stuff like:
(P -> Q) ∧ (Q -> P) => (P <=> Q)
That is: if P implies Q, and Q implies P, then P is equivalent to Q.
Predicate calculus is a more formal extension to that.
EDIT: I found a simple example of predicate calculus:
From "All dogs are mammals" we may infer "If Rover is a dog then Rover is a mammal".
I still don't understand exactly what point-set topology is either, which is probably why I'm not doing so great in the class. :P
We did a little bit of the propositional stuff, but just the basics.
The propositional & predicate stuff looks more difficult than it actually is. Most of it is just ordinary logic organized into fancy formalized rules. :P I guess it's to meant to help you to think analytically, although if you've programmed before, you pretty much know how to think that way regardless.
Basically, it helps you write code so that you don't have hundreds of nested if-else stuff, or endless loops that lead to deadlocks/livelocks.

I haven't gotten to the Isle of the Beast yet either. I'm currently breathing down the Oracles' cutscene-neck, but exited every time to refine a bug report.
The quality of the graphics IS quite amazing, and I'm running at a near full-screen resolution. (Won't do full-screen, as I'd have to Alt-Tab to switch from that window to the bug reporting tool-window).
XD I haven't exited the castle yet! I keep finding things! I need to try Alt-Tabbing, 'cuz if I press the windows key the game crashes and I can't get back in.
Then shouldn't you file that as a bug report?
They could try "claiming" the windows key when in fullscreen mode, essentially disabling it, preventing the crash.
It is kind of a bug, but I'm not sure if I should report it or not, yet.
Might as well report it so that someone will investigate it. Does the game crash (as in, does it generate some error message), or does it just get unbearably slow? If it's the latter, then it's most likely because your amount of RAM is too low.
I doubt it's my ram since I have 1024 GB of ram.
But in fullscreen the game really does freeze when I'm going to the interior courtyard/garden. Also, when I press the windows key or alt tab (only in fulscreen though) their is no trace of the game in the Task Manager but I can hear the music still.

Who was Hugo Braam, i found this old 2006 Competition area http://www.tsl-game.com/contest/ and found this little Game. http://www.tsl-game.com/contest/present/FQ.rar Its hilarious :D
XD XD I never realized that was a game! That's awesome, though it's a very good thing TSL never really did depend on me, as many times as I've died. XD
I finished the tiny Game and its about
Graham begging VU to hand out an Official Fan Project Licence for TSL, obviously we won and now we wait for TSL to complete, but if theres a next KQ Game, Pheonix Online has to buy half its Licence for the Game to be made
;D

Isn't there a point at which the number is just redundant. I mean, that's a TON of memory. :o
As long as people continue to build inefficient, resource-hogging programs, you can never have too much memory. :P
Unfortunately, TSL happens to fall into this category as well during some scenes. ::)

Koko) it's no fun. It's mucho fun when you have 2 GB ram, though! (Moi! 8) )

Actually reading a couple of books while your game is loading in not a bad idea. I am on a friends list of knowing Classical literature if she ever ends up on a gameshow and needs to 'phone a friend'. You can gain a lot of knowledge just waiting.

That really *is* something. What do you suppose it means?

From what I saw (I do not bother reading threads I find uninteresting, at this point), most discussion posts (which fuel the the +1 post threads) were either game-related (can be taken as due to the beta), or they were primarily between Fatali, Cat, Jason, and myself.
This being until the last 2-4 hours (when Deloria began contributing).

There's definitely more posts than normal. But we've had both dry posting spells and excessive posting spells, caused by many different factors (i.e. vacation, exams, posting sprees, announcements, updates, etc). That being said, while I don't expect this level of activity to continue for months on end, it is a refreshing and welcome change. 8)
Though it's harder to keep up this way, I do appreciate the congestion :)

Yeah, that might be it actually. :P Each person contributes in his/her own special way. And the thing I like most about this place is that there's plenty of threads that anyone can enjoy. Some are TSL-related, some are serious, some are technical, some are fun, some are random, etc. I've been to places where everything must be one way, and they ultimately just don't feel inviting.

I don't see the issue with using myself, although I think "I" would be a little better than me.
It's not a question of style, it's a question of grammar. XD
"between" is a preposition and therefore demands the dative (or the objective, considering that they've practically merged) case in the personal pronoun(s) following it. The dative pronoun in the first person singular is "me". :P
"Myself" is reflexive. If you used "I" (as a subject, not butchery) in the same clause (here the "I" is in the subordinate clause and the "myself" you would have suggested would have been in the main clause) earlier in the sentence, you can use myself though I'd say it's even worse stylistically. :P
Besides which, would you say "From what I saw (I do not bother reading threads I find uninteresting, at this point), most discussion posts (which fuel the the +1 post threads) were either game-related (can be taken as due to the beta), or they were primarily between ourselves"
or
"From what I saw (I do not bother reading threads I find uninteresting, at this point), most discussion posts (which fuel the the +1 post threads) were either game-related (can be taken as due to the beta), or they were primarily between us"?
"I" has absolutely no reason to be in that sentence as it is only to be used as a subject. :P
I welcome corrections from anyone, should this be incorrect. :)

Yes...hence my great respect for obsolete languages (especially inflected ones) and old grammar. :P I would also point out that English has already lost six glorious cases and numerous other grammar functions for whatever reasons (many languages have lost their cases, actually). :P Why make English even less aesthetically pretty, moreover, less logical? :P It can just make it more ambiguous, especially to people who don't learn it through practice. :P On the other hand, how much more do you want to simplify the language? Aside from the verb "to be" and the third person singular in many other verbs, one can barely conjugate it at all. :P I just don't understand why anyone would butcher it when the rules actually make some sense. :P

That's really irrelevant as we're talking about grammar and not context. :P "Myself" and "ourselves" are (for grammatical purposes) the same thing except that one is singular and the other plural. XD My issue is only with the reflexive pronoun (myself). :) Frankly no one would have said "ourselves", but rather "us". Thus the usage of "me" instead of "myself" makes more sense. You know, I just had a thought. King's Quest 8 was released in December 1998. That means this December would be the 10 year anniversary of the release of the last King's Quest game. Seems like it would be a great time to release TSL....
It would be a great time to feed Connor to the sharks... :suffer: :suffer: :suffer:

I think it's around July 7th or 27th somewhere around there.
There was a big event and they opened the chat room for it. Two years ago when they did the contest. (I think that was it. :-\)
I was thinking it was earlier cause the chats that were actually named for the birthday were on May 15th and 18th, so now I'm not sure. :P
The birthday of kq9.org and kqix.com were both in May. :P I actually don't know why the present contest and Chamber event were held in July that one year.
I THINK my birthday is the 14th, TSL's is the 15th, and Neil's is the 16th...but I can't quite remember.

Would that be (incomplete group) project or incomplete (group project)? From the sound of things, I'm guessing it's both. ::)
Yeah, both. Incomplete group in that 2 (me and one other guy) of the 4 group members did 90% of the work. Incomplete project in that there was too much work to be done to complete the full task load.
This is why I hate group projects being 60% of your final grade.

I'll see what I can do about it. Yeah, group projects are kind of annoying. But this thread has majorly shifted off-topic... I suspect that the results will be posted by about 9 or ten tonight, but I could be easily wrong. and by 9 and ten I mean 9 and 10 my time (massachusetts time) lol...
I by no means meant to hijack this thread, but I don't think the TSL forumers are too anal about going off topic in threads (at least, that I've observed).
By the time I get out of classes and classwork, the people should be posted. So I'm not too worried about having to wait, haha.

I agree. I don't think people are too concerned about going off topic. On this thread it is somewhat helpful to give everyone something to talk about while they wait.

It was in the "Backspace" section of the PC Gamer's July issue that I got in the mail today, by Yahtzee Croshaw.
"There comes a time when an unpleasant truth you have tried to ignore for a long time must be confronted. Like when you buy the DVD box set of a cartoon you loved as a child, only to discover it was just as infantile and rubbish as your big brother used to gloatingly say it was. Or when you gradually come to realize over many years that someone replaced you bed with a sleeping tiger. The uncomfortable truth that has been slowly sinking into my mind like a lead weight on a trifle is this: Were adventure games ever any good?
This is a particularly awkward realization for me, because for most of my gaming life, I’ve considered myself as being to adventure games what the Pope is to our lord Jesus. I played a little else in my Amiga-owning childhood, I’ve written for AdventureGamers.com, and lest we forget, I myself designed something like 15 of the things. So what brought on this drastic loss of enthusiasm?
Don’t get me wrong. Pretty much every LucasArts adventure game, like Monkey Island, was good. It’s just that it was generally the writing that made them good, and the quality came in spite of, rather than because of, the gameplay. Besides, they were outnumbered by legions of bad adventure games, most of which began with the words ‘King’s Quest’ and ended with a roman numeral.
Lately, I find myself at a loss to explain exactly how adventure games are fun. I would previously have said something about the satisfaction of having your logical thinking rewarded, but really, logic rarely had much to do with it. Why can’t we use the bamboo stick to pester the sleeping cat on the high shelf, as would logically work? Because the designer intended you to use the policeman’s disembodied arm, that’s why, and the bamboo stick is needed to mollify the rabid panda two hours from now, not that you’d know that.
Frequently it comes down to you hording useless trinkets like a crazy homeless woman with a shopping trolley, shuffling form room to room, waving you pointer around looking for a hotspot, then throwing every single one of your trinkets at it until something good happens while you character drones “THAT DOESN’T WORK,” ad nauseum. And if it’s just a case of point and clicking in every conceivable manner to make the story progress, then you might as well just be reading an Excel spreadsheet.
I dunno, maybe it’s just that my own definition of fun has shifted ever since Half-Life first absorbed me like an action-packed gelatinous cube. Maybe I’ve been corrupted by instant gratifications to the point that I can longer concentrate on anything that doesn’t OOH LOOK SOMETHING SHINY…"EDIT: Typo :P
I lost that guy's reasoning from the beginning when he said he loved cartoons as a child and got them on DVD and doesn't. I'm not like that about movies, books, and games from my childhood...If I liked it as a kid I like it now. His reasoning makes me think he liked the bad shows as a kid. Anyway, the major point he misses in his explanation is that adventure game plots are WRITTEN so well. Plot has always been the most important thing to me in games, especially adventures. Now plot has definatly improved in non adventure games, but to this day, plot is still not as good in other game genres as adventure games of old.

If his way of solving adventure games was to pixel hunt, it's no wonder he dislikes them. I haven't played the KQ games in a while, but from what I remember, the vast majority of puzzles made logical sense. Of course, as soon as he said his interest changed when instant gratification games like Half-Life came out, it pretty much nullified his entire viewpoint. :P

Yes but he connects this to adventure gaming, like being younger is why he liked adventures in the first place. I liked shows as a child I STILL like. So I'm saying he must have watched shows that would be bad to any audience at any time.
My dad had already read the article and waited around for me to get the part about KQ to see what my reaction would be ;P (He finds it all rather amusing :P)
He's certainly entitled to his opinion; it just saddens me to see KQ bashed so in such a major gaming magazine.

Samthunder ???
So, Neil asked for updates on my game programming class. I've only had one class period so far, but it seems like it's going to be a lot of work but a lot of fun. :D
The whole class is a "game". Our syllabus isn't a syllabus, but a manual. We have player summits instead of classes, quests instead of projects, challenges instead of tests, and one huge project called the Ultimate Mission. As we turn in work, we get points, and we level up as we get points. When we level up, we get 2 coins, which can be spent on power ups such as getting an extra cheat sheet on challenges or an extra day on a quest. XD XD XD
The Ultimate Mission that we work on throughout the whole semester is a 3-person project where we code a game engine and make one major game and one minor game to run on it. :D
The first class we spent a quarter of the class playing games online to help us determine what makes a good game vs a bad game. XD
THAT sounds SO Cool! !!! I would love to go to a class like that. :D
It does sound like fun. :D
Super cool, Tessy!
Well, duh. Do you think they'd let us play the game before it was released and then let us tell everyone beforehand what exactly to expect?
The Beta Testers are not testing a game developed by VU. All VU has to do is endorse it.
So yes, we signed an NDA with POStudios. WIih POStudios, at the moment, being a totally non-profit company, the penalty can't be anything monetary. So, after all the effort it took us to be beta testers, think what would be the penalty if we didn't abide by the terms of the NDA. :deal:

Too lazy to read that right now, but I imagine if you gave away info the first thing that would happen is an automatic ban from this forum! That's a scary thought!
Hahah nice! It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun! Whoever came up with this class is pretty creative. :P
Yep, and possibly a lot more, depending on the situation. VU actually only granted legal permission to use Sierra-based IP (i.e. TSL) to POS, but this permission is only for the company as a whole. No individual team member is permitted to use it however they please. Doing so could easily be seen by VU as copyright infringement.
You have to remember that even though VU isn't involved with the development this game, they share ownership.

It was probably meant to go into this thread instead. :P
True!
I was wondering the same thing as PKC. Ohhh the Twilight book series. I have heard about them and that they are really popular but haven't read them yet. I kinda got the impression they were somewhat like Harry Potter. Am I completely off base with that assumption? Should I read these books?
Well, HP is a little more adventure-y, right? Twilight's strictly a "romance" story. And my "romance", I mean...well...I didn't care for them myself, but then again, I didn't read all the books. :P
The books do have a pretty big fanbase...the books are a little more targeted towards girls though, I think.
Thats my 1 cent anyway. (Too cheap for two XD)
Well from what I know, my sister was into the first couple and they weren't popular yet...Then by the time later books were coming out and it was more popular, and she told me this, the newer ones weren't as good....
I hear the last one is what really split the fandom. Some kind of controversial thingem. :P
Yeah I believe my sister hated how it ended...but what do I know, I haven't read them and never will :P
I'm on the last one now. I have little interest in romances, and probably would never have read them except for my sister nagging me into it. Once I started though I pretty much didn't stop. :P Not as good as HP though, IMHO
That''s a good idea. Remember, I actually LIKE MoE.

I think Connor gets a bad rap because people don't feel MoE belonged in the KQ series. I think that's mainly because MoE really wasn't an adventure game - there wasn't that much of a plot, and progress through the game was mainly through violence rather than intelligence. I tend to agree that MoE doesn't fit very well with the rest of the series, but I thought it was a decent game otherwise. Of course, I don't know if I would have had the patience to get through it if it weren't for god mode!

XD I love God Mode. It's become my personal savior for a lot of video games. And I really don't consider MoE a part of the KQ series. I would much rather exclude it from the series if I could. If only Roberta hadn't lost creative control...
That's why I included it. I didn't want to exclude those who liked MoE. And perhaps someday I may begin writing my KQ novel once more... If I am allowed to obtain the publishing rights to the KQ books, then I may just write my own novel, in addition to compiling a collection of the first three novels, and re-releasing the Companion with an expanded section (though I would likely just have Peter Spear do the expanded sections...) Perhaps I'll even release a fan-fiction collection... Of course, this is all in the realm of dreams for right now...
I think she wasn't as involved in MoE. I beat the game with out ANY cheats, and walkthrough! ;D
I would love to write fanfictions. I just don't have time...

César doesn't visit the forums much, but yes, he is still on the team! I believe Cez and Say have there own project, too - here (http://www.fawrk.com)! I don't know what the status of the project is, though - the site hasn't been updated in quite a while.

Yes, but apparently there is no UI for it - you have to edit the persdict.dat file (in Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\~username~\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles) in a text editor and remove the word.

I enjoy writing, but I never take the time to actually sit down and write a substantial amount. When I do sit down and write however, the words pour out of me like a never-ending faucet... I was at one point thinking of making a website that would compile all the KQ fan-fiction from around the web... But that project pretty much died out... A lot of the projects I helped out with or was involved in died out...
It's a good idea, I think a site wouldn't be hard, and you could make a forum for people to submit stuff.
Yeah, she lost creative control. She had to take a backseat while other people butchered a series I came to know and love. And in the act of butchering it, they gave the ability to butcher actual characters to the players. Fighting and King's Quest just don't go hand in hand... MoE was a completely different genre than the previous KQ's in my opinion. I would file it under Action/Adventure, and not pure adventure... If only pure, true adventure games were as abundant as they were in my childhood...
^^I was just bummed that Jane Jensen didn't have more involvement in the KQ series in general. Theres only a handful of KQs I would consider good.
I didn't know that Jane Jensen was involved with KQ at all. Then again, that just shows how much I know about the development of KQ games lol...

I never thought about that, overall it's great as a game though, and I just replayed it because tsl is also in the land of the green isles, Tsl will make me like Kq6 more, and vice versa. I'm excited!

Well, the first two chapters of Shadows are in the Green Isles, anyway. Chapter 3 is in Dreamworld (wherever that is). I don't know where The Two That are One and Eternities take place, though I'm pretty sure Daventry is in there somewhere.
Either way, even playing the demo brings good memories of first playing KQ6. ;D
What do you think of my Reptile avatar?
I love it, did you make it??
No. I google imaged Reptile and I uploaded the dsl or whatever you call it as my avatar. I thought a Reptile avatar would suit me.
So, we turned our games in on Monday for our game class. Since some of you wanted to see it, I'm trying to figure out how you can play our main game Shipwrecked without needing XNA and Visual C#. If you do have those, the project files are linked on this webpage (http://student.elon.edu/jbatchelor/) under Shipwrecked.
This download (http://www.4shared.com/file/76340936/8664a741/Share.html) I tried to use the executable. There's a file called Shipwrecked.exe. I really don't know if that'll work though. You might need .Net Framework 2.0 & Service Pack 1 and DirectX, and possibly XNA Redistributable 2.0, from what I've read. :-\
There's one major bug that we didn't have time to figure out, and probably some minor ones, but it should be playable if it runs.

Yeah. And when TSL comes out, lets hope the servers don't crash. That'd be tragic.
When we released the public demo, the site kept crashing. But, that was mainly due to the hosting company that we were on at the time not being able to handle the increased load. The one we're on now is with hosting company we've used in the past for years, which is also the same one we were on when the Vivendi shutdown happened (i.e. when site activity was at its all-time peak). I'll be putting the game itself on a different site specifically intended for high-traffic downloads, and purchasing a few accounts as well to balance the load. So, don't worry, it's very unlikely that the servers will crash. They might be slow for the first week or two, but they shouldn't crash.

Well I wouldn't wanna get addicted to it anyway, so good thing I don't really feel an interest. :P
I played it for a little while and I honestly never really enjoyed it. There wasn't enough plot, there wasn't a reason to keep going except to make a really awesome character, and that's not enough motivation for me. XD
I never played it for that same reason. I want a good story and reason for what my character is doing.
That's kinda what I thought for a while -never payed much attention to the story - but then I started reading the lore on websites like Wowwikki. There's a actually a lot of story behind the game. It's half the reason I play the game now. :P

I would love to see that production studio do DragonLance. I think they could do it justice but I don't know who to write to suggest it.
:D You can watch all the full episodes on their site. And they have been approved for a second season. :D
So psyched for the finale!.
I forget if you've said, have you read the books?
No I haven't read any of them but I might put the first one on my list to see how it goes. Unfortunately my "to read" list keeps getting bigger and my time to read them hasn't. In some cases it think it's shortened. Not enough hours in the day. :(
Glad to hear it's been picked up for a new season. They've done a great job so far. I hope they come out with it on blu-ray. I think I might buy it if the price it right.
Yes the final sounds interesting.
How close are they staying to the book and how much is being left out? How far are we into the book?
Umm... in one way they're very different, and in another they're similar. The characters and their values are the same, as is the very basic plot - Richard's a woodsguide in Westland, Kahlan's a Confessor helping him (in the books she's is the only one left), and they're trying to defeat Darkhen Rahl, but it's still a good bit different. Most of the stuff on the show is based on stuff that happens in the first book or even others later in the series, or was completely new.
A lot of the minor characters got changed a good bit - for example, the artist James who used magic is a bad guy working for Princess Violet and her mother in Tamarang.
It's changed so much that you can't really follow along with the book at all.
Hummm... Interesting. A little disappointing though. Well I guess the book will still be new and fresh and full of surprises then. (Whenever I get around to reading it that is. LOL)

Yeah. Agreed. ;D THey are amazing movies. Just too short. (Well that depends on your point of view)
The last two are too short. They should be making them at least three hours. preferably four. I would love it if they did and Extended version like they did with Lord of the Rings. That would be SOOOO Awesome.
Quote from: xelanoimis on June 29, 2009, 01:24:28 PMOh, and another interesting thing I'm watching is that the company owning the Myst license gave permission to two fans willing to do a full Myst movie. Well I hope it works out. Google it for more details.
Hmmm, it looks promising (http://mystmovie.com/). I have all the games, but I've never read the books (although I hear that they're very good). I'm glad that they decided to adapt one of the books (http://www.amazon.ca/Myst-Book-Tiana-Rand-Miller/dp/0786861606/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247067104&sr=1-4) to film, rather than trying to base it on one of the games. The games are terrific as games, but I think that it would be very hard to make them into good movies. RPG games like
The Legend of Zelda (http://www.theherooftime.com/) are more suited to film adaptation.
Anyway, I hope they do a good job of the film.

That would be AWESOME. But I disagree about the last two, I thought they did a good job editing down the story without changing things around too much. I think Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire were VERY guilty of that. No house elves in Goblet?! Ridiculous.
NO HOUSE ELVES?!

Is it a bad thing for a gaming site to link to this one? ???
No, absotively not! I wouldn't think so anyways.
It's definitely not a bad thing. But I have a feeling it was more of a spambot attack. Usually when another site links to us, there's a bit more traffic than just one hour of one day.

 Yessiree. Feels good to have it back.

What music? Are you listening to Backstreet Boys, Cray? :james:
Absolutely not!!
*NSYNC. Clearly. :P
*Deep GASP*
TRAITOR! TRAAAAAAITOR! You dare defile the sanctity of pop music by listening to #NSYNC?!
The Boys are where it's at, my friend. *Huff...puff*
Uhm, sorry, I have to support my man Lance Bass.
Why, you ask?
Because he recently went from being the "kinda cute" pop star to this photoshoot....
You can officially back up off my music now. Lance will cut you. :P
:o
That's Lance?! Sheesh. What happened to him? Did his pants lose a fight with the scissors or something?
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Horror, the horror...
That will follow me for the rest of my life.

Those aren't holes in pants, it's mud.
That's Lance being angry punk gonna-cut-you instead of being *NSYNC cutesy boy band.
You should be frightened. :P
Did you think that Lance was dreamy before, Cray? ;)
Before? No.
But now that he's like toned and muscley and bad*ss... lil bit yeah. :P
Yeah, muscles add that little bit of "Oh-my-God" to an otherwise pasty individual. Too bad he hits for the other team. :(

Oh, you just opened up a whoooole world of sports-related innuendos. :P Unfortunately for Lance, by the time I'm famous enough to be on his radar I will probably also be on Adam Lambert's radar... and even all punked-out, Lance does not stand a chance against that man's voice. :P
I can see the tabloids now: Gradam -- Hollywood's Newest Power Couple! :P
Eeeew, Adam Lambert. I can't stand the man. That wail of his--ugh. Go for someone else, Cray. Like T.R. Knight! :D He's adorable.
And tell me, what other sports-related innuendos are we referring to?
I can't say them, you might think less of me. Let's just say most of them involve a "bat". ;P
T.R. Knight's cute and all, I guess, but I'm like "eh" about him, y'know? Besides, he's just an actor. That's what I do. We'd only have one industry cornered. And I love a man who can sing because music is like my serious weak-area talent-wise.
Whereas Adam Lambert, I love his voice almost as much as Darren Hayes' (and if he weren't already married, that'd be the plan, but I refuse to be the other woman :P) and I love his look.
I suppose if I HAD to pick another, I could be convinced to go with Jake Shears, although I think he might be married too so that wouldn't work out then.... :P
I think T.R. Knight is sooooo cute...another one that I'm sad doesn't like women. :'( You know who I just adore? Matthew Fox. Purrrrrr. He IS a fox. And you know what's funny is that I have never watched "Lost" in all my life. I loved the man when he was in"Party of Five."
:sweetheart:
Eh, another one I just don't get into. Especially when he doesn't shave. Which is like... all the time. :P
OH man, when he doesn't shave I'm drooling all over the place. I like 'em scruffy.
As some would say,
"Scruffy is where it is at. Yo."
I know, dog. ;P
I feel like I just hopped onboard an Ebonics Airways flight.
"Our flight schedule is... whene'er we get der, we get der." :P
oh, no... not Ebonics... *willfully refuses to have a flashback to highschool on principle* :P
Ebonics is practically it's own language. Just look at urban dictionary!
Sho 'nuff, sho 'nuff.
My 10th grade math class was full of kids fluent in Ebonics, and they taught me their language.
However, all of us were stumped when that girl started screaming "GET OUT MY FLAVUH!" when she started a fight in the school cafeteria. The principal dragged her away, and still he screamed "GET OUT MY FLAVUH!" With some cuss words in between of course. The horrific cries echoed through the halls, everyone mystified.
According to legend, you can still hear her cries on cold, dark nights... "GET OUT MY FLAVUH!" *shudders*
lol XD
That reminds me of a story from a school trip to Six Flags (though I wasn't on it: our English teacher told it to us later). One of the older male teachers was approached by a girl while waiting in line for a ride. The girl walked right up to him and in all seriousness asked: "Where be the go out?"
(I imagine in her mind it was "where be the go-out"...but the hyphen loses a little dramatic effect)
Not as bad as when someone thought my name was Augustus Pepper IV

It is a done deal, better start putting the toilet seat up!
Oi! put the toilet seat back up Cat!
See, this is the problem with women!
They demand all kinds of things from us, but we ask for ONE THING and they can't comply. Put the toilet seat up Cat!
By the sovereign rights vested in 'e, I dub Haids to be the official toiletseat-putter-upper of this thread!
Let us all rejoice!
And there was much rejoicing.
Hurray.
That's all well and good, Rob, but the toilet seat is still down. Obviously she's just not efficient enough at her job. I think we need a whip.
*hands whip over to Cray and points towards Haids*
Go 'otivate her!
Most excellent.
Listen, Haids, get to work on lifting those toilet seats! *cracks whip*
I think intervention is required before things get out of hand.
Only thing is...should I take the lid off and hide it, or nail it closed? :P

By the way, Cray, your whip has no power over me. Unless you wield the almighty Vampire Killer (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Vampire_Killer_Whip) from Castlevania, you got
nothin! Besides, I am female, I suffer more pain monthly than you suffer yearly! If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine! :say:

She did not just presume to know about my pains and sufferings and blame it on her womanlyness. :furious:
Let's just say that I have far more "pain & suffering" cards in my hand than the average woman has in her entire deck, m'kay? Go use your hormonal excuses on someone else, you'll get no sympathy here.
Anyways, this is far worse than the Vampire Killer from Castlevania. This is... the Fanny Tamer! This mystical whip has been blessed by Cheese so that all disobedient servants (most especially maids) may be forced into compliance.
Now PUT THAT TOILET SEAT UP! :say: :suffer:

Actually, we women like the seat (and the lid!) down since it stops germs going around the place. It's not a ploy to inconvenience you men; we just like to be clean.
the ger's not flushed away and killed by whatever che'ical substance you have hanging at the side of your toilet will find a way out toiletseat and lid down or not.
Therefor it has little to do with beeing clean, and just a hollow argu'ent. I never said wo'an leave the seat down to inconvenience us 'en, it is just that they have no 'anners and are lazy! ::) ::)

This is true: when one flushes, a mist rises from the bowl due to the mixing action of the water. This mist carries lots of nasties with it. With the lid open, it can reach farther in the room, which is more of an issue, say, at home where there may be things like toothbrushes in the room too. :P

27 testflushes , the cloth cover I put over the toilet has nothing on it!
12 testflushes with a blue-ish la'p to spot any 'ist, no 'ist spotted either!
You should get a better toilet! Also, we have nothing against people that put the lid down when they flush the toilet, as long as they put the lid and seat up after they are done. You have any idea what 'ess you get when you have to take a pee and the lid is down... who said anything about wo'an liking it clean? that is just wrong...
QuoteJeez, where do you boys get your weapons? Assassins 'R Us or some such place? All I have is a pink light saber. It might not be as impressive as a whip or chainsaw whip, but it does the job.
Well, I dunno about Cray (Who probably gets his stuff from some sleazy, degenerate weapons dealer :P), but being a Jarada Knight means I'm entitled to the most ridiculous weapons in all the land. :pleased:
QuoteAlso, we have nothing against people that put the lid down when they flush the toilet, as long as they put the lid and seat up after they are done.
But that means you have to wait for it to finish flushing! Who wants to waste time doing that? :P
In any case, the real reason it's better to keep the seat down is to keep the evil restroom gremlins from wrecking havoc in the night.

That's true. I'd forgotten about them since we mostly keep our seats down at night... clearly, Cray and B'rrr are in league with the restroom gremlins! :o
:help: Why did I not see it before?! Delling, you hit the nail on the head! I feel so stupid!
Long live a lowered toilet seat!!!
Restroom gremlins do not live in toilets!! They live in those air dry things for your hands -- you know, you push the button and the air comes out but your hands NEVER GET DRY. NEVER!
Why don't your hands dry?
BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THE GREMLINS ARE! It's all a trick!
But if the toilet seat is up, they can be easily shooed into the toilet, where they will get wet, melt (like a Wicked Witch would!), and be easily flushed!
I swear I have to explain everything to you people. ::)
Yet another lie.
You have a sickness, Cray.
What's this fancy toilet thing you guys are talking about? As a wizard's slave, I have to empty a chamber pot.
*shudders*
And get your master food, feed the chickens, etc. It's a hard-knock life.
Great Haids, now I have that song stuck in my head. ::)
Just you wait until I get hold of the wizard's magic book.
*insert evil laugh here*
*Wait, better idea. Insert puppets doing an evil laugh*
*Much better*
Everyone, now.... hear me out for a second.
I think, more important than this whole toilet seat thing, is to make sure there are never evil puppets laughing evilly in this thread ever again. I'mma have such nightmares!
(And, Haids, it was NOT a lie. It makes perfect sense. They live in the dryer, which we know because it does not dry. If they live in a dryer, then they must die in water. It's OBVIOUS. It's SCIENTIFIC!)
Every dryer I've ever used worked fine. The gremlins must've sabatoged all of the ones in your area, thanks to you leaving the seat up so they can escape. ::)
But yes, I think we can all agree that laughing demonic dummy puppets are a more important evil to worry about.
There is no Gre'lin in the toilet, seriously, why do people believe such nonesense? have you ever seen a Gre'lin in the toilet? 'ight I re'ind people that the posts about the Restroo' Gre'lins living in toilets are all 'ade on April 1, you all have been fooled!
To prove that we will have so'eone look for herself;
*grabs haids, put her up-side-down in the toilet and flushes her through*
If she never returns then 'e and Cray were wrong and there are Restroo' Gre'lins in the toilet, if she does return Jafar and Delling were wrong, there are no Gre'lins there and this is just another lie to cover the real reason why wo'an do not want to put the toilet seat up; they are selfish and lazy!
*grabs a toiletbrush and pushes one of Haids feet, that got stuck, deeper in and flushes again*
off she goes!
I'm so glad we have these brave volunteers to embark on these scouting missions for us, Rob. Aren't you? ;D

I'm a Washingtonian! I live in water all the time! *Slaps forehead* Silly me! I have gills and webbed feet! *Starts swimming upward and back toward the light*
She made it back. Shocking.
I TOLD you there were no gremlins down there! Why is it nobody believes me when I'm right?
Shouldn't we ask her what she saw while she was there? Seeing as she was the one who was there...
Actually no. There is no need for that, there were a few possibilities;
Haids would float - she 'ust be 'ade of wood, thus beeing a witch and we would burn her (ben a while since we burned so'eone, would have been fun! \o/)
Haids would never return - This would be the worst option, not only would we never see our beloved Haids again but we can't be sure what happend. There would be a possibility that there were actually Gre'lins down there, but she could be eaten by a rando' aligator, sliced up by ninjaturtles or devoured by giant-killer-rats.
Haids would co'e back safely - We all know that noone that has encountered Gre'lins lives to tell the tale, but Haids lives nonetheless, that can tell us two things; 1) There are Gre'lins down there, but they spared Haids live for a reason, that only reason can be that Haids is in league with the'. This is not likely ofcourse, if Haids were in league with the Gre'lins why would she say earlier that the Gre'lins were down there? she would 'ore likely divert everyones attention to so'ething else. The second option is 'ore likely 2) There are no Gre'lins there!
Now we all know that Haids is biased, she does not want to put the toilet seat up, she supported the silly allegation of Gre'lins down the toilet and 'e and Cray beeing in league with the'. So whatever she says can't be trusted 'uch. However, her physical condition speaks for itself
She does not float
She is still alive
Gre'lins do not leave survivors
-> There are no Gre'lins down there.
It is always good to have logic and deduction on your side.
Ergo, the gremlins live in the hand dryers. And anyone whose hands are actually dried by one of those foul mechanisms must be in league with the gremlins!
Oh, and the toilet seat should be put up.
Oh, and evil laughing puppets are evil and scary.
See, we've all learned a lot today!
Let me at least take a shower before I recount my adventures below. I smell like Cray's urine and Rob's droppings. Bad combination.

*watches as Mr. Clean banishes several gremlins in final-fantasy-esque summon fashion*
Keep fighting! If we can drive them into the toilet, we can trap them by putting the seat down! (Gremlins don't have much upper arm strength, so they won't be able to lift it back up. :P )

Since the seat is still down they can easily hold on to it if you try to push the' back. proper way to get rid of the' is; lid and seat up (
as they should be in default!), push Gre'lin in the toilet, put seat and lid down, Flush! then put the seat and lid

Quote*Sigh* I will accept the title of Official Toilet Seat-Putter-Upper, but not the job. I accept the title itself for the following reason: I will continue to lower the toilet seat for all time, from here until choas comes again. I will lower the toilet seat with pride, whilst remembering my fond title of Toilet Seat Putter Upper, so that each time I lower the seat to go pee--nay, just for the purpose of lowering the seat!--I will remember the great struggle to bring the truth to the boys of the world. The title, my friends, will serve as a reminder to me and every other woman that toilet seats were made for women, and the idea that a woman would choose to put it up is pure malarky. So Official Toilet Seat Putter Upper you may deem me, if only for the reason of understanding that I shall NEVER willingly raise the toilet seat for any reason other than to vomit! :scholar:
I did read it (fell asleep half way! ::)), and 'ade a bad E'peror Palpatine reply on it.

Put the toilet seat up! It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister. So, you have an older sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. If you won't put the seat back up... then perhaps she will...
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*Grabs toilet brush and starts flailing it around like a maniac*
Good... your hate has made you powerful. Now fulfill your destiny and take Crays place at my side
Wait...pause! :stop: I'm wearing your toy car on my finger, you! I'd say I'm already at your side!
Yet, you do not wish to put the toilet seat up, just for my sake... :'(

Whoa.
Whoa!
WHOA!
I'm being *replaced*?? Since when was that in the deal??
Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice
HA! Now we know where you rank in the scheme of things, Cray! :pleased:
After all I did for that ungrateful louse of a man -- and that's who you're planning to marry, Haids! Hrumph! :P You better put the toilet seat up or I'll bet YOU'LL be replaced next!
Teehee, quoting Starwars lines finally got out of control! good, I was running out of lines anyways! (not really, but still!) *hugs Cray* I still wuv you, it just had to be done to complete Haids toilettraining.
Toilet training? I don't remember recieving any Snoopy stickers, like the first time I was toilet trained!
That is because the seat is still down! no stickers till you do something good *nod*nod*
So... Cray and B'rrr are servitors of the Dark Side of the Toilet Seat? (which I guess gets displayed when one leaves the seat up? ...wouldn't it prefer to be down so that it can do all of its dark malevolent things in the, you know, dark?)
Dark/Light, Good/Evil, Right/Wrong.
Everything is determained by someone's point of view. From my point of view I am fighting for the greater good, for what is right!
The Dark Side has COOKIES!! :D ;D NOM NOM NOM!
LOL! I'm pretty sure cookies are impartial to sides. :P

Some of our cookies are double chocolate chocolate chip! NOM NOM NOM! :D

You should still move to the UK. :P Though that applies to pretty much everyone who doesn't already live there. :D
I dunno, Deloria; if we put THAT many people on the island, it might capsize. Because that's how islands work according to my district's representative. ::) ;P
I think it is a great idea though, everyone move to UK so I can take the rest of the world for myself! \o/
Enjoy the crappy weather! 8)
Oh, our weather isn't THAT bad!
Unfortunately, I couldn't get scans of the article; hopefully César will be able to! But to be honest? The more over here, the merrier. We're horribly overpopulated as is.
That sounds like an open invitation to me....
Everyone to the UK!!!!!! :)

You can have North America and a large part of Asia and all the horrible art deco buildings that go with it! :P Russia's mine though. <3 Oh, and so is Europe, because, you know, a place with culture and interesting languages and pretty buildings has to belong to a girl. :P

Yes, but England hasn't had a terribly interesting language since it stopped being declined and started to take after French. :( So you're actually welcome to France. :P Alsace and the Loire valley in particular are gorgeous. :P But do stay out of Paris; the Eiffel Tower is an eyesore that ought to have been demolished after the World Fair and not anywhere near as pretty as the Crystal Palace was supposed to have been. :P Enjoy your new territory. :D

No castles in Tennessee? What do you call this:
We're headed there this weekend!
It just looks like two connected turrets. Is there more to it?
In the meantime, I offer you Château Chambord, one of my favourites. :D

I did laugh when I saw that 'castle', I've build better ones when when I was 9 and playing with Lego.
Ok, so maybe it's not the best thing, but it is a castle that's near here. The husband and wife building it have been doing so the last 15 years or so and they hold the Renaissance Festival there.
I do think it an admirable effort, but it's just not the same if they're not old. :P
In order for US to get pretty buildings, Deloria, we'll HAVE TO start somewhere! :P
Thank you, Delling! We may not have the history that Europe has, but we do have a beautiful and special country. :)
We try! There is a castle in Washington DC too. America has its fair share of battlegrounds and haunted places, too. The Seattle underground is supposed to be spooky....

That doesn't really makes it any better :P
Sure it does! That means it gets to share the Hippie Theme Song! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWN2xaOhj1U) :raf:
That song does gives me a whole castle feeling indeed....
Anyway, every 'old' building is either a ruin or has been renovated a dozen times. :P Not that we couldn't do with some ruins, but the paint currently in the Sistine Chapel never saw Michelangelo. ;P

Meh. ;P The colours in the Sistine Chapel are now so bright that it looks like a plexiglas cathedral. ;P Not something they were aiming for, I'm sure. :P
I don't mean to offend anyone, but it's silly to think that any place outside of Europe (except maybe Dubai, but even then I doubt it ::)) can have any building impressive enough to compete with Versailles or Sanssouci or Peterhof. :P The whole point of building palaces so incredibly stunning was to present an image to the world that money was no object and that anything the reigning monarch wanted would be done. :P They had to drain an entire swamp just to build Versailles and they constantly had to repipe the fountains of Peterhof because it gets bloody cold in Russia. ;P I highly doubt anyone else would ever go to so much effort to build something aesthetically pleasing and that many people will ever try to match what was done here anywhere else.
We've tried... we're just not very good at it... St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York for instance:
I actually hadn't seen an interior shot before... I wanna go there now!!!!!! XD
There is a distinct and very disturbing lack of buttresses. :(
I haven't been to that one, but I have been to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Now that was BEAUTIFUL!
But are the interiors as pretty as ours? :P

No... not better. Worse. No nightclubs in cathedrals! The GPS will not tolerate such behavior (the Gothic Preservation Society)... I guess that means if you wanted a Baroque cathedral for your nightclub... *dodges Deloria's floret*

There's a little church in Liverpool thats been turned into a nightclub/restaurant and the interior is a fabulous setting for eating and a boogie!
Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is across the road from me and its so Impressive on the inside, it's the 5th Largest Cathedral in the world!
Exterior doesn't look that awesome though :-\ but then again, I am not that into churches and cathedrals anyways :P
it's nice and gothic...but then I think you need to be standing there in front of it as the picture doesnt really do justice to the immense size of the place...thats aweinspiring in itself!
