Title: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 13, 2006, 05:10:11 AM
Inspired by *coughstolenfromcough* the official KQ forums, I bring the coolest forum game pre-TSL!

Basically, you have a quatrain that refers to some item/character/whatever, and the first person to guess what it is gets the turn. It's kinda like Adventure Trivia, only just KQ and it has to rhyme and all. :P Anyways, I'll start.

My heart is pure
Of magic I'm made
And if you don't have me
Through poison you'll wade

Note that all of this could be figurative. ;)

I'm thinking either the Magic Mirror or the poison antidote in MoE.

*has never played MoE* XD

And nope. :P

Reminds me of weeping willow.

I hoped someone would guess that, but no poison for her. ;)

The witch in that game was kinda poisonous though... XD

I was also thinking of KQ2 where Graham has to wade through a bunch of poison plants to get to Dracula's castle, but I forget what he gets in there... *wonders if he's on the right track*

I'm thinking either the Magic Mirror or the poison antidote in MoE.

You actually can wade through the poison in MoE, but you'll most likely die after the first few steps.  :P

Now let's see...

my heart is pure...

of magic I'm made...

Probably someone, or something from KQVII or IV.

And you'll obviously need this person or thing or through poison you'll wade...

...

...

I give.  Dang.

You mean the sugar cube the flying horse gives you? <wonders if he's right>

Well, it certainly keeps you from getting poisoned, but I was thinking more along the lines of "have to wade through posion to get me" not "have to have me to wade through poison safely".

Okay, we can safely rule out: KQ1, KQ3, MoE. :P

Valanice isn't made of magic, though :P

Though, maybe she is magic. XD

Sure it is. :P

the genie? :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 12:40:39 PM
Possibly, but the genie wasn't in Dracula's castle... and usually genies aren't pure of heart.

Maybe the winged horse itself is magical? ;P After all, you have to "wade through poison" by evading it while it's still a poisonous snake.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Deloria on June 16, 2006, 12:42:06 PM
Graham's pure of heart and a genie's soul reflects it's master's. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 12:56:13 PM
True...

Surely it's the magic fish, the genie, or Valanice. ;)

Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

That's no fun. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 07:08:56 PM
Well, it can't be an animal, we've already settled that... XD

But what kind of object has a pure heart? :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 07:35:08 PM
Think. What else means "pure hearted"?
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 08:18:38 PM
Apparently there's a saying in KQ5 that says such but I can't find it. ;P

*starts looking up the death scenes*
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

Oldbushie Aeridus Jafo says:
I don't know any synonyms for pure hearted XD
Rosella says:
XD
Rosella says:
Think of a saying maybe. :P
Oldbushie Aeridus Jafo says:
I don't know many sayings  :P
Rosella says:
Think KQ5?
Rosella says:
Oldbushie Aeridus Jafo says:
hmmmm
Oldbushie Aeridus Jafo says:
*is still lost* XD

That's actually what happened. :P OB also guessed Edgar, the frog prince, the crystal dragon, the yeti, Queen Icebella's heart...

All of which were wrong. ;P

No unicorns from MoE either. XD

EDIT: And fine, it's literal poison. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 08:36:57 PM
Well, hopefully *someone* will put an end to this misery. XD

Cat, what's your guess? And why does your riddle have to rhyme? ;P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 08:41:02 PM
It has to rhyme because it makes it harder. :P

Cat guessed the key under Dracula, but that wasn't right.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 08:45:22 PM
Nightmare in KQ6. ;P

What with the poison brew that it likes.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 08:46:55 PM
If you didn't tame her, I'd say you'd have LESS poison to get through, actually. :P

No XD
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 08:50:40 PM
So, it's something you have to get *before* you go wading in poison? ;P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 08:52:11 PM
"If you don't have me, through poison you'll wade."

Yes. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

Then it's obviously a biohazard suit. XD
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

Or, you know, not. :P

You guys were REALLY close with the sugar cube...
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 08:56:07 PM
The magic bridle? ;P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 09:01:09 PM
FINALLY!!! XD

Yes. :P

My heart is pure -- Its core, its heart, is made of gold.

Of magic I'm made -- If it can transform snakes to horses, it's magical. :P

And if you don't have me, or through poison you'll wade -- THEN you get the sugar cube and don't die when you get to Dracula's castle. :P

Now was it really that hard? :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 09:05:21 PM
What other bridle? o_O

Were there two?
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 09:05:56 PM
In KQ4, the bridle is more obviously golden. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 09:06:26 PM
Yeah, but where's the poison there? ;P

And, there was a bridle in KQ7 too. XD
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 16, 2006, 09:07:33 PM
Having the bridle gives you the sugar cube which makes it so you don't have to be all careful and avoid the thorns. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Oldbushie on June 16, 2006, 09:10:39 PM
I know that, I was just having trouble with the pure heart bit. ;P

Anyway...

Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on June 18, 2006, 10:40:13 AM
I think OB should be disqualified. His riddle wasn't a quatrain. :P

I don't think I'll try to make up one this time though. :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Deloria on June 18, 2006, 01:34:53 PM
Yeah, but it's a bit difficult to make a quatrain rhyme and still make sense :P
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

It's absurd

Shamir's dazzle ball? it flies, it's lit, and it could be used to hurt or protect you (theoretically at least)... But there's only one place it can take you.
Hey, 3 out of 4 ain't that bad :P

Crispin's magic dust?

HARPIES! :D

None give off light though. :P

...does whether light is hitting it (or emanating from it) make a difference as to whether it protects or hurts?

You guys really need to think of the words I wrote in the riddle:

I soar through the air with the greatest of ease
I can take you anywhere you please
Protect you I may, hurt you I might
But never without an abundance of light

Okay, Genesta can fly. She can take you wherever you please (home), she helps and protects you, but you have to help her, in turn hurting yourself, In KQ4 it says Genesta glowed. :P

Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on July 29, 2006, 11:02:25 AM
Dracula's ruby ring: you find it on the floor beneath the bed and use it to fool the eyes of the ferry man and ghosts. Oh, and it's made of gold and thus is dense: so it's heavier than one would expect from just its size.

The Jar of Lard in KQ3 because it's heavier than it looks... 'cause... 'cause it's fat... you use it in the invisibility spell... and what that has to do with a floor I have no clue.

The board in KQ4? :-\
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on July 29, 2006, 01:18:06 PM
Ah, then, is it the ring and the cloak or just the cloak... It's the floor part that I've been having trouble, but if it's enough that it's on the floor...

Well, I tried to replay KQ2 quickly and get the cloak to wear it to see if it said anything about being heavy or something when you put it on. I did that ok (no reference to the cloak being particularly heavy... in fact, Graham puts it on with a "flourish"). So, I decided to wander over towards Dracula's and see if the boat were there (which I doubted greatly). I didn't get to find out... as Hagatha caught and boiled me...

It's been forever since I played KQ1, but I think there was a magic ring that turned you invisible... though I think some elf just chucks that at you.

Ok, how about a little hint... very small...
I think Rosella already hinted at this, but does it rhyme with floor? (or does it simply have some consonance or assonance with floor)
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Deloria on July 29, 2006, 02:04:40 PM
It's not a floor, think of other parts of the building...Also, no one said it had to be in KQ2.

The Walnut in KQ1 that conceals a golden walnut inside. OH HO It's gotta be this! (I just got the pun! :D) It's a WALL-nut... and it's heavier than it looks because of the gold inside. Its appearance fools eyes because it looks like an ordinary walnut.

I never would have remembered that on my own. I had to resort to GameFAQS. It's too bad I can't replay KQ1. I've played the others so much, and the experience feels incomplete without the original game. Sadly, the only computer we had that could run it was quite old and has died now (memory failure). ... Oh, well, did I get it?

Wow Delling, that's gotta be it! ;D Anyway, I will be taking one more guess, just for fun :P

I keep thinking of hole-in-the-wall, because his apearrance does fool eyes, but I don't recall him being very heavy :P Oh and he isn't quite a floor.

;D

Ok, well, how would you change something TOTALLY ordinary, with no special properties to something different?
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on August 14, 2006, 08:41:09 AM
By magic, of course.

Thus, the jar of fish oil is used in one spell and becomes just an ordinary empty jar, but when used in another spell, it is changed into the brew of storms... I think it's the brew of storms anyways...

The empty jar from KQ3... *isn't sure how that's "part of [my] scam"*
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Rosella on August 14, 2006, 08:44:22 AM

Title: Re: KQ Riddles!

BUT BUT BUT you do change it: "Before you change me, I'm part of your scam." Well, if I have recalled correctly that he implies you've scammed him when you give him the salt water, then the salt water is part of your scam until you change it by performing the ritual at the statue that turns it into fresh water.

I wish I could check what he says, but I don't have KQ7 working anywhere at the moment.

*guesses again anyways*

the silver spoon in KQ7... it's not only a perfectly ordinary spoon but also just what you need for the spell, and it changes after the spell into the silver pellet.

no, you wrote the riddle out like that: I was just paraphrasing because I didn't want to be exact. Though still, you can't really do anything with the salt water until you change it into fresh water... anyway, the punctuation clarifies matters a bit. :P

Eek. I wrote that VERY unclearly. I'm REALLY sorry. :S It's supposed to read "Ordinary I seem and ordinary I am until you change me. I'm part of your scam." It's ordinary until you do something with it, THEN you can use it. :P

:stars: so, just so I get everything clear in my head, it is a perfectly ordinary item changed by magic into an extraordinary or magical item? To be perfectly clear, what is the nature of the item after the transformation? Or is it purposefully ambiguous (in which case don't tell me: it was only the confusion over what the the adverb clause was modifying that caused this and I wouldn't want to get a hint just because I was confused).

The wall on the side of the Castle of the Crown? It's a perfectly ordinary wall until you paint a door on it at which point it becomes both useful and magical.

You get them on the Isle of the Sacred Mountain (where the Winged Ones are.)
Get me where I should have wings

If you take the short path you use them on the genie (fewer points for the short path.)
Use me get less

If you take the long path you don't use them and get more points (you still have them and more inventory at the end.)
Wait and get more.

The slingshot.

It is in a tree in the clouds.
If you use it on the giant, you score fewer points.
If you use the ring and WAIT for the giant to go to sleep, the you get more points.

The jar of lard or of fish oil... when you get them both they're full, you deplete their contents and refill them with spell components... which if Manannan is still alive could be seen as a form of deception...

I think I've got it! It's "The Cliffs of Logic," isn't it?

-You will never see my last (that being logic, because the puzzles are anything but logical!)
-I'll kill you thrice as you walk past (because you will die if you get any of the last three puzzles wrong)
-But within me lies the key / To your desired victory (pretty straight-forward, I think)

Dracula's Castle KQ2

*joins in publishing reasonings b/c it's fun!*

-You will never see my last (The place isn't destroyed after you leave: it's just there...)
-I'll kill you thrice as you walk past (...because the brambles, dracula, and the ghosts can kill you while you're just walking around... sort of.)
-But within me lies the key / To your desired victory (It's key number 3; so it's the key to victory!)

Is it the bridge in KQ2? Someone said that earlier and it makes sense.
You can only walk over it three times.
You never see it's last.
The "key" is on the other side of the bridge.

...but there are bridges in KQ1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 (granted there's only the one in 3 right at the very end there)

...that said however...

OO OO OO! It's Manannan! He has a tendency to kill you in both KQ3 and 5 especially as a cat in which case in 3 he kills you by tripping you as you walk past! We never see Manannan get it in the end... and within him lies the key to your desired victory because... because he has a knowledge of magic and it is that knowledge which is key to your victory in KQ3... the riddle afterall says nothing about the subject of the riddle offering up this key... ...

...that or a dragon... ya gotta have dragons :P

Surprisingly, your semi-random guess is CORRECT!!! ;D
"My last" means "my end", which you can never see because the desert is endless. The desert kills you three times if you try to get past it - in KQ3, 5 & 7, and in every desert there's something essential to your quest (the key to your victory).

So... Your turn ;D

Beware, the guard nearby you'll meet
May cause you to be swept off your feet

This is an off-the-wall guess, but I'm going to try speed, when you're riding the cart down to knock the troll off the bridge in KQ7.
It's hard to see; you need a lot of it; and the guard's nearby.

Make me think of the Sense Gnomes throwing Alexander into the ocean.

The last line almost echoes what it says when Alexander goes into the ocean of his own accord(or on account of Shamir)
"Nothing like getting swept off your feet..."

The Lord Of The Dead in KQ6?
It's hard to get to see him, you ask a lot of him (to raise the dead) and his guard (the gate) sweeps you of your feet when he eats you.

I really thought Tessy had this with her "speed" answer... (it was a really good answer and the kind of answer one would expect of a riddle: something a bit less tangible)

I'd like to guess light.

Lots of people forget about light, ie- the reality of it all around them most of the time (thus, making it hard to see, cp. forest, trees :P). In particular, I'm thinking of the light from the lamp in KQ4 when you're going through the cave. You need plenty of light (and get so little!), and the "guard" in the cave kills you... not sure if he sweeps you off your feet...

Beyond that, guile or cleverness works almost universally because the characters in KQ all need a lot of it and usually use it in escaping some guard or another... I could make a long list here...

Eh, nvm, that... The answer is obviously the goat from KQ1! Heck, the royal family should just keep a bunch of goats around them: nothing would ever happen! Have you ever walked around with that goat!? Nothing will come near you! *bets the goat could have taken on the giant and the dragon* "[Shield?] We don't need no stinkin' [shield!]" We've got a goat!

You can get it from Cassima (the one you love) or Beauty. With it, you can make the spell that will call Nightmare and let you fly... but you don't necessarily fly from the ground; you find Nightmare at the top of the cliffs where the Winged Ones live.

Okay! My guess is the dove tile in the catacombs, because the order of tiles that Alexander has to walk over is Rose, Rose, Rose, Scythe, Crown, Dove, Skull, finish. The rose is a flower and the scythe is a blade, but I don't understand how the crown would be "a round." But the dove is the second to last tile... so apart from the crown, everything else seems to fit jusst right.

I'm almost positive you're right because you need her to have the dagger in the end to get past the "next to last" (Vizzier Alhazred)
Cassima? You gave her a ring, a rose and a dagger before you find her.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Boogeyman on March 17, 2007, 02:36:00 AM
Seems to me that Shamir is second to last, not Alhazred. The game is over once Alhazred is beaten.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: hercrabbiness on March 17, 2007, 12:04:44 PM
I think it makes sense. "Next to last" would refer to the sequence in the riddle (flower, blade round), and to get past Alhazred's sword (a blade), you need Cassima.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on March 17, 2007, 07:21:54 PM
I love the thinking on Cassima and really, really wish it were the answer... sadly, the answer is more regular than that... try thinking about boogeyman's answer and hercrabbiness's answer together and come up with something else..
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: hercrabbiness on March 17, 2007, 11:48:03 PM
I'm guessing that the flower is the rose, the blade is the skythe, and the round is the beast's ring. Is the answer the mirror of truth? In the short path of the game, you need it to get past Shamir, but I think that would be the third to last obstacle rather than the next to last (which is giving mint leaves to Shamir).

Or maybe the round is supposed to be the mirror and the answer is something different. Like... Beauty's clothes or something.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on March 19, 2007, 12:02:49 PM
We seem to have a bit of a disconnect in regards to vocabulary: the poetic term "round" refers to what royal object? Still, the round is really kind of unimportant to the rest of the riddle: the first half of the riddle essentially tells you where to find the item. The second half tells you roughly where you use the item (item meaning you get it in your inventory)...

I'm running out of hints I'm afraid...

you've all figured out the game: KQ6
here let me quote the answers that you guys should be putting together to get at the right answer:

Quote from: Boogeyman on March 03, 2007, 12:54:51 AM
I guess the scthye, Alexander used it to cut through the rose hedge on the Isle of the Beast.

Quote from: hercrabbiness on March 09, 2007, 01:07:02 PM

The rose is a flower and the scythe is a blade, but I don't understand how the crown would be "a round." But the dove is the second to last tile... so apart from the crown, everything else seems to fit jusst right.
If it's an item in your inventory, it's not the tile, but the interpretation that the tiles are in fact the first part of the riddle is correct. The scythe is wrong because it doesn't fit the first part completely nor the last part exactly, but there is something correct about it.
...and it's an item in your inventory... I can't think of ways to make this plainer at this point...without just flat out giving it away... the spoiler just about does that anyway...especially combined with this (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=4118.msg213381#msg213381)

anyway, I guess, upon reflection, you really do need an accurate interpretation of the first half for the second to become exclusive.

I really thought early on that hercrabbiness and Boogeyman were about to get it...

And why don't Cocteau and Samhain count as obstacles?

The reason I didn't mention the coins(I never thought of the shield by the way)is because it seems to me that Charon is the THIRD to last obstacle(with Gate second and Samhain last).

Alexander was saved from Mordacks castle.  Then he was in danger again when he went to rescue Cassima.  He is a son and has been in multiple homes.  Like Mordacks, his parents, Cassimas, the ferry mans, death's, and if you were feeling naughty he did get kinky with black widow in her web :help: :o

I was just about to put up that there are two answers because in double checking that one, I found that you also get the coins after the tile room which (in the same way that I didn't count the Beast as an obstacle, I couldn't count Samhain) get you past Charon who is the next to last in the Underworld too...
And why don't Cocteau and Samhain count as obstacles?

More or less, my reasoning was that their islands are largely about getting to them, so I only counted the obstacles in getting to them and counted anything they require of you as being the point of the whole island in the first place, ie- why you were there and what you were trying to do.

Your guess shows a lot of thought... perhaps too much...

Ok... as I've grown to dislike my own riddle, I'll try to give the response to HCN's guess that I felt would give it away...

Firstly, I should say that the first half is more of a pop-culture reference to the item than a KQ reference... (which is why HCN is still the closest since the mushroom could be seen as a reference to Alice in Wonderland)...

The second ties in exactly to this item (or rather One like it) in a KQ game. ::)

Ok, that's enough glaring hints and explanation for now... it's a good thing I said "try" since I managed to get through that wiithout giving the response I considered giving HCN...

Shadrack used "Shade" as a nickname in his letter in KQVI but I don't think it's him..

Alexander is the only one I can think of that went through a name change since he was known as Gwydion by Mananan but Alexander is his real name, so it can't be him... Plus, I think he can speak his mind now.

WAIT!  Mananan!  Because Alexander turned him into a cat?  So he's can't speak his mind anymore and he's changed his form!  But does the cat have a name?  Crap!  I don't know  :(  Am I close, though?

awesomeasapossum is probably getting mixed up with the original version of KQ1 from the sound of it. But in the original version, Graham simply remained in the cage.

As for Graham the frog in KQ5:
"Graham was caught toadally off guard."

And, for the record, Alexander the pig in KQ6:
"Is that the beast you could do?"

My guess is Graham as a gingerbread man(Graham Cracker)

That is CORRECT! ;D Heehee, I love King Graham Cracker!

In times gone by this hole of deep
Entertained he who later ruled many
And since that time, fire woke from sleep,
And destroyed this that once gave plenty

Ok, my guess is the well in KQ1 since the dragon takes up residence there.
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: tessspoon on September 14, 2007, 07:22:51 AM
Yep yep. :) Although I didn't even really think of the first dragon living in the well, I was more referring to the three-headed one in KQIII. (I'm assuming that the well in KQIII was the same one as in KQI :P)
Title: Re: KQ Riddles!
Post by: Delling on September 16, 2007, 02:38:25 PM
I'm fairly certain they're the same. I always felt that the end of KQ3 was sort of giving the player an update about just how ruined Daventry had become (why didn't Graham just saddle up with the shield and go kick the 3 headed dragon's butt all the way to the Isle of the Dead?... the shield is supposed to make him invincible right? So, yeah... why not?)

I really didn't like my guess that much so I don't have a riddle prepared at the moment.

Used to see one so grim,
Doesn't like the sight of him!
"Run and hide.
The bad guy's on the other side."

*feels this is ridiculously easy but hasn't the time to make a harder one*

When I first read it, the line about looking at the ground really made me think about the bridle from KQ4, but that is necessary!

I guess the walnut in KQ1.

KQ1-4? :P
*agrees with slight alterations* :P

Knight to a King (obviouly Graham in KQI)
Queen to a rook (Valanice was locked in a tower)
Pawn to a King could mean Alexander going to Graham as in finding this way back home, or it could mean he became a king, in which case it refers to KQVI.
And the last one could refer to KQVII if the above is correct.

Knight to King one.
Queen to Rook eight.
Pawn to King one.
Pawn sans a date.

So, the first three lines are descriptive chess notation that describe an aspect of each game (the last line is not descriptive chess notation).

N-K1: Obviously, knight to the square where the king starts, right? Sir Graham becomes King Graham.
Q-R8: So, this one is considerably more abstract: my idea was the queen is at the top of the tower (it just occured to me that I could also have used Pawn to Rook eight, Queen (R8=Q) or Rook one... however the numbers were chosen in part for rhyme and in part for sense so that would have messed up the quatrain so... no).
K1: This is an illegal move. But, the point is indeed that Alexander returns home. I probably would have done "Pawn to King eight, King" if I'd meant KQ6 (though that too is an illegal move).

Pawn sans a date: I thought this was the biggest give away here. Literally, "a pawn without a date" and Rosella is without a date throughout all of KQ4.

I guess it's Yonkey's turn. Deloria is right however that without the logic behind the riddle, there's not enough to exclude certain other things.

*wishes this had gone on longer*

It is not stated what the dance was. The key guard and the skeletons in the background seem to be doing a jig, but the ones that come in are clearly doing the cancan.
As for what Prince Alex actully plays on the xylophone, it isn't mentioned either.

Before you hear our voices
With danger you must meet
To see the path before you
Three foes you must outwit;

And after we have told you
Tales of woe and bitter strife
The gifts we give may ease your way
Or even save your life.

the oracles? ie- the one from III and the one from VI and/or possibly the gypsie in V?

Medusa, bandits, spider...
Minotaur, Shamir, ...another one...
the bandits in the desert, ... maybe this one's a stretch... I seem to recall that you can just head into the desert and handle this... *shrugs*

It was supposed to be one of those 'recurring theme' riddles.
And you got all three of them on the first try - very nice!

As for the bandits in the desert - well, you do have to hide from them to hear what they say to open the door, then steal the staff from under their noses... I figured that could constitute 'outwit'.

Your turn ;)

Okay, this is going to sound unintelligent but the only thing I can think of is when you walk around. When you walk to the north you are always to the south on the next screen, and when you walk to the south you are north on the next screen.

Heheh, I thought about that too! but that happens in every game, not just KQ7 ;)

At the risk of having to post another one - Maybe the rainbows in Etheria, where you jump to different locations?

Yes, the rainbows!!  One of them at the top of the screen drops you to a southern location in the desert.  The two on the bottom of the screen send you to either the screen with cornucopia/nectar or in front of Malicia's home.  Thus north takes you south and south takes you north.

Ok, here goes:

To be or maybe not to be

And to end the same as first and last
Will help you solve this really fast
      And finally to place inside
An 'A' then from this should you hide.

Sounds like the mushroom in KQI. It gets you through the small hole at the end of the leprechaun's tunnel just before the end of the game.

That works...though it's not one of the two I had in mind; I'll take it.

I was thinking of the hairpin in KQ5 b/c it gets you through the door at the end of the maze under Mordack's castle; or (not so much an item) either memory or the combination or something to that effect b/c it gets you through the door at the end of the volcano tunnel at the end of KQ7.

Someone, split this... give him a thread to do adventure game related poetry in... meanwhile, we need a KQ riddle...

You'll find us everywhere you look
Under a clam, in a log, and in a nook
Left by some blue speckled loon
Who lost us all in a swoon.

EDIT:

Having now read them, I can say: they're not bad, some are rather good, but I think we could do without Henry Glades... ::)

Sapphires?

Well, basically, yes. I was going more for something like "sapphire jewelry" or something more descriptive, but just sapphires works too. XD

Well, I had the right idea. XD

You may think I'm lost
Because I wander around
But if you use my gift
You'll be the one who can't be found
