Title: New Updates!
Post by: Yonkey on August 07, 2006, 12:15:07 AM
Hello everyone! XD

I just finished doing a couple more site updates! ;D  There are two new Journal (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/journal) entries.  Cesar talks about his experience meeting Peter Spear, and I talk about the TSL Evolution! 8)

As well, the Present contest (http://www.tsl-game.com/contest/) runner-ups are now posted!  There were so many awesome entries that we decided to keep the top 16 best ones. ;D  Go check them out!

Lastly, I just finished the new Intro flash (http://www.tsl-game.com/) for our site.  Have a look and let me know what you think! :)

Your link to the journals doesn't work. Once you look at the link itself, you'll see why.

If you mean the one on Home, then it's now fixed. :P  That's what happens with too much copy-and-pasting. XD

Thanks! :)  Actually I need to fix it because IE and Firefox have problems rendering it properly, resulting in screwed up timings. ::)

Ok, I just fixed a few things in the Intro (http://www.tsl-game.com/) so the timings should be a bit better than before.  Plus I added in that "sketch" technique to the silver Graham. 8)

Clear your cache and check it out! :)  (Still though, it seems to look best in IE ::))

How do you run Fan's Quest? I'm assuming that from the comment made by Rosella that it is a game.

You'll need WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) to extract it first, and then you just run the .exe like any other game. :)

The new intro is pretty cool. 8)

Just one question, about the Journal entry. You said that you guys met the Winter release date 4 months later, but wasn't the Winter release date for Shadows, and not just a demo? Cool updates though.

EDIT: Here's what I was referring to, from last year's chat:
Quote[17:08] <Cesar_Bittar> and no, only part 1 is released this winter, but the way they work is that each part is a game within itself
Title: Re: New Updates!
Post by: Yonkey on August 09, 2006, 02:49:44 PM
Actually, we never officially said 4 months or even December.  Fans just sort of assumed it. :P  I think it was more like we planned for Shadows to get done in 7-10 months from that announcement, but we knew that in the worst case we would have a demo, since the Main Hall and most of IoC was completed at that point.  Of course, things don't always go according to plan, namely the VU shutdown. ::)

Anyway that's why we purposely left the intro vague as: "The journey begins this winter". Rather than saying March 2006, we said "winter", which could easily translate to winter in Australia or even Hawaii, since we never specified the hemisphere. :suffer:

Well technically, if you were referring to the southern hemisphere, the game would've been released shortly after the chat was held, since "This Winter" in Australia meant "sometime within in the next couple of months," rather than "a year from sometime within the next couple of months."

;D

I saw that according to the FAQ -- Shadows will be released in 2006 and you can call me a pessimist but I am still hoping by 2007.   :suffer:

Actually, I think you might be right. XD  However, I can guarantee that we'll have a few more patches and RC2 out sometime during Q4 of this year for sure. :)  At least that I have complete control its release, and it doesn't involve VU whatsoever.  8)

Will RC2 be a longer demo or will it just be improved based on all the feedback the TSL demo has received so far?

I was wondering if you will do any more major updates before 2007 comes?  :) So far to date the best update you guys did was finally release the TSL Demo to the public. It has been downloaded over 10,000 times!

I don't know about that we still have Demo 2 and a beta to get through first.

Actually, Shadows doesn't have an exact release date yet, for reasons already explained in several sticky threads. :P

That's correct. XD While I don't know exactly when Shadows will be released since it's dependant on VU, I do know that RC2 will be sometime during this quarter (Q4 2006).  8)

If we did, we'd have to send it off to Vivendi for approval before we could release.

Is it too big to put on the forum? You could always update it onto putfile.com or savefile.com.

Hmm. I was just going by the message that was on the front page when the site relaunched, which said that Part 1 would launch in 2006. I didn't know that wasn't the case anymore.

Post by: Yonkey on September 09, 2006, 07:14:16 PM
Ahhh, you were going by 3 month old information. :)  Ok, well you can go by this information now: RC2 is far more likely to come out in 2006 than Shadows. :P
Title: Re: New Updates

Now, the question is will RC 2 beat the Sierra compilations?   :P

What's the difference between RC1 and RC2?  ???
Title: Re: New Updates
Post by: Shades2585 on September 10, 2006, 10:07:07 AM
RC2 is the second demo and is not released yet but should be out before 2007. RC2 is supposed to have new material in it, how much I don't know.
Title: Re: New Updates
Post by: Yonkey on September 10, 2006, 11:04:50 AM
I actually don't know how much yet either. XD  But yeah, at bare minimum it will embed all RC1 patches, and ideally have some new stuff too. 8)

But before you guys start thinking RC2 = Shadows, it's not going to be Shadows.  I'll say right now that chances are it won't contain much more gameplay than RC1.  I'll see what I can add before its release. :)

Will RC2 reveal a tiny bit more of the plot than RC1? When will RC2 be released or a guess?  :)

You're probably better off starting a new thread in the Art forum and asking there.  That question's a bit subjective. :P

But, if you haven't already, you can check out the Media (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/) section and see some of the preliminary graphics in our game.
