Title: the weather thread
Post by: icarus on January 18, 2007, 10:40:20 AM
Here we can discussed the weather we all have. At the moment we have a huge storm. 3 deaths already. It's dangerous to go outside. All trains are canceled. a satellite dish was blown awayand landed behind my apartment.
How's the weather overthere

We have hurricane winds and it's quite rainy as well, but it's hardly dangerous and I was having an awesome time watching the storm before. :D

Yikes... hurricanes? :S

The weather's not so bad today.  We had the first actual snowfall a few days ago.  It was blistering cold the next day and the day after. ::)

Well, extremely strong winds that are often referred to as hurricanes, yes. Along with a bunch of rain. :P

I'm also jealous about the snow! :P

Hope they don't do much damage.

A lot of the snow on the streets and sidewalks have turned into disgusting black slush, so I doubt you'd really be jealous of all that. :P

But that's pretty horrible about the hurricane force winds.  We've had some really strong winds a few times in the past, and they're certainly not fun to be in... combined with rain.. ugh. :-\

Nah, one just has to watch out for stray branches and one will generally be fine. :P It's really not that bad. :)

But the rain is more than slightly annoying if one's in it as I found out earlier today, but the storms are fun to watch. :)

As for the slush, I actually am a bit jealous. :P This is the first Winter through which I've gone when it hasn't snowed at all. :-\

I was perfectly fine with there being no snow whatsoever until now! :P

Oh well, at least it hasn't gotten to the bitterly cold and freezing winds yet.  When it's slightly cold outside and there's snow I don't mind, but when it's -20 to -40, it's really disgusting. :X

That's good. The one in the Netherlands sounds pretty bad, though.

I enjoy watching and listening to storms too.

No it wasn't a hurricane but it did have hurricane force winds. 105 mph

Well I'm safe (even after the satelite incident).
And in the end there are 5 deaths. Loads of people had to stay at the stations since all train traffuc was canceled. A colega of mine slept at his desk since he couldn't get home. I woke him up this morning  :suffer:

Only lots of material damege. I hope all train trafic will be normal today since I want to go to my bro's birthday party.

RAIN! Oh rain, thou has blessed us! :P

We got so much rain today, there were actually puddles you could jump in and make splashes with. :P

We haven't see this much rain for maybe over a year. :-\

It's being referred to as Hurricane Kyrill over here, so I don't know. But they're force winds more than anything else. :)

Ice-wintertires=no driving today
Lucky me No snow has fallen yet!

The wind has caused a lot of damage, and I also heard about two trees falling on a house in Beguim.

I drove home today to stay for the weekend. I opened the freezer door and found a big snowball with "Hot Stuff" written on it from yesterday that my sister decided to name and keep.  XD

Strange! I wonder why they would do that? It wasn't cyclonic nor was the water temperatures right for one to develop. I don't understand that. ???

OMG!
Its actually 70 degrees (F) out.
Its soooo nice out!
What am I doing on the computer, posting in about a zillion new threads, on a day like this?

Now I'm talking to myself. Guess that's what happens when I spend two hours on the forum with almost no one else on. XD

It's far too warm for the time of year. Temperatures of 7° C in the morning, and 13° C at noon are not normal during winter. :-\ I want more snow (preferably on a Friday or Saturday)!

It's been summer hot here....till yesterday, when it dropped into the 70s during the day(which is lower than normal, that's like spring weather) and then to 50 at night! That makes me dance, as the longer it's cool the better. I'm extra warm blooded so I feel better in cool/cold weather and horrible when it gets hot.

I agree about liking the cold better than heat. :P I'm happy at 50 (10 C) XD But here it is 90 F (32 C) today, not my kind of day. ;P It's been 70ish (21 C) most of the week, and ought to go on being so after today though. :)

It's hot here too, but it's raining a lot more lately. It's nice that it rains since we're having our usual drought, but it would be nice if it would cool down too instead of just making everything muggy.

It started absolutely pouring today at work, so we decided to close up the snack hut early. Unfortunately, our sinks are outside the building. So I got soaked to the skin standing outside in the rain washing dishes. Most interesting day I've had at work so far, and the funnest. :P :D
