Title: Star Wars
Post by: Storm on November 09, 2003, 06:24:09 PM
AAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!  >:( >:( >:(
He's using that number AGAIN!!!  >:(

Cesar, I KNOW you're doing this just to annoy me  :suffer:

And yes, as it happens I saw most of Buffy, but only REALLY watched the first Star Wars movie (and I mean the first to come out).
I did TRY to watch Episode 1, so I know who Jar-Jar is, but I got fed up with all the macho bulls**t pretty fast  ::)

There was macho bulls**t in Episode 1?  You got more out of it than I did then.  Other than some pretty graphics, it's a bunch of c**p - filled with some of the worst dialogue and acting I have ever seen.  The 2nd one is even worse.  I fear what the 3rd is going to be like.  I may have to boycot it.  Y'know, like how you boycott MOE being referred to as KQ8.  It was the 8th game set in the KQ universe.  Doesn't that make it KQ8? :P  You don't have to like it for it to be KQ8.  I hate Episode 1 and 2 but they're still Star Wars.

You think that's bad? My sisters got the Star Wars 1 video and watched it over and over and over... :P

I had to hide in my room so I wouldn't be tormented by it. :P

Yes it is, and no I don't.
But we like to refer to it as MOE in order to emphasize how much it's not the way a KQ should be  ;)

I can accept that.  MOE is shall be for me from now on  :D

On a side rant:

George, GEORGE!!!!  WHY GOD, WHY!!?!?!?!?  What were you thinking?!?!?!?!?  My favorite trilogy of all time stepped on, demeaned, damaged by the father's own hand!!!!!!!!!   OH THE AGONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hope you wake up in cold sweats knowing the damaged you have caused the world.  Infecting it with your putrid excuse of a trilogy!!!!  You no-necked, used-up, pathetic little sell out!!!!!

Ehhh. Sorry, Sir Dot, but I'm with Mikey... Eps 1 & 2 mostly sucked. Not even Ewan McGregor's divine cuteness and Samuel L. Jackson's divine coolness could quite save things.

Of course, I honestly was never more than a casual admirer of the original films, so maybe that has something to do with it.

So Lucas has no taste!  That explains it.  There's nothing here to be cured, the movies sucked.  It's too bad, I really wanted to enjoy them.  Well, I always have the originals :)

I don't think Episode 1 and 2 sucked, but other than that, I don't think they left any big impressions on my memory, since my recollections of those movies are very scarce. There's a wide gap between 'suck' and 'great', and I'm somewhere in the middle. :-X

Ok, maybe I'm being a little too critical.  My problem is really with the dialogue and HORRIBLE acting.  Those are two very unforgivable things for me (I'm a snob, what can I say!).  It's not that they are terrible movies - I found them fun (when I wasn't cringing at some very bad lines).  So, I skip to the pretty graphics, the Darth Maul fight scene and all scenes in Ep. 2 with Ewan McGregor - he's the only saving grace in the film.

As far as plot is concerned, I'm not even sure what the plot is!  So there's the other problem with the movies ;).

Heh, I agree... Young Obi-Wan's scenes were some of the best parts of the movies, and I swear it's not just because I think Ewan McGregor is cute! :suffer: Qui-Gon Jinn was interesting, too. But most of the rest of it... bleh. Especially all the Anakin/Amidala romance stuff in Ep2. Puh-leeese! Just did not work for me. Heck, there was more chemistry between Padme and little Anakin in Ep1! :P

I STARTED A THREAD ABOUT STAR WARS?  :o :o :o

I think I'm the one LEAST familiar with the saga here, not to mention the least inclined to discuss it  8)

You're full of surprises!   ;D

Personally I liked Episode 2 more but I think it had more to do with Yoda kicking ass.   :suffer:

Was it Yoda, or was it a computer animation looking like Yoda? 8)

I wouldn't know...   :P

A funny thing about Yoda - How come such an all-knowing sage can't even speak English properly?  :P

I always got the impression that Yoda probably could speak English just fine, but enjoyed messing with everyone's head and perpetuating his mysterious guru image. (Besides, the Oracles at Delphi had already taken the speaking in riddles shtick.)

I dunno, all I know is that as soon as he pulled the lightsabre and could move faster than a fragile snail, I was going insane!!  :o :D

That's probably because the universal translator George Lucas used to translate Yoda's language and to synchronize Yoda's lip movements with that translation while editing the movie later is not advanced enough. ;D :P :suffer:

Er. Except for the small fact that Anakin in Ep1 is 10 years old, so Hayden most likely would have been far too old to portray the part.

Unless you're simply saying that Lucas should have gotten a better child actor. Honestly, I'm not really sure I can offer a good opinion on the acting choice, because even a great actor is going to have a hard time overcoming lousy dialogue.

Wouldn't that have Yoda-fied him too much? :suffer:
