*shrug* Interesting news, but honestly, I don't think there has been a single "Sierra" game I've been interested in since QfG5.

That was a decade ago.

And thats why Sierra is doomed. The fans have deserted it. Same reason why the adventure game genre is dead, becausee fans' only wanted a certain kind of adventure game and weren't open to evolution.

I say let Sierra die. It'll never be what it once was and if they do revive past franchises they'll just ruin it.

Unfortunately, in todays gaming society, there never were enough fans to make adventure gaming profitable enough for the large scale company. Add in the fact that Sierra loses fans, and yes, Sierra as a brand name is doomed.

Think so? You might be right, though I suspect a large number of adventure game fans already have gone with the evolution. RPGs are the new "adventure games."

I disagree. As long as the name still exists, there's still a chance, however slim. I believe that with Activision in charge, things might change. I would love, however, for Sierra to fall into the hands of say Disney. Or for it to just be sold to the highest bidder, who would hopefully be a classic Sierra fan.

I could see Disney doing KQ games, or some fairy-tale inspired imitation. :P

If KQ does return, it would probably be far different from any previous game in the series.  Which in turn would bring up the question of why they'd bother labelling it as a KQ to begin with?

FPS's take skill, not all are about blowing things away. However that is off topic, so I shall leave it.

Sierra were a good company, but now they are gone. The current Sierra will never be what the old Sierra was. I think it's time to let Sierra go before it is disgraced further, or given a bad image.

I don't see Sierra going back to adventure games anytime soon, they aren't popular enough. Even if a fan were to buy out Sierra, they'd probably go bankrupt if they only made adventure games.

I should say, if Activision does get rid of Sierra--
I imagine that their classic titles will never be re-released again.

The Sims audience is very broad. The sims games actually kind of prove this. They recently released a trilogy of plot-driven sims games (called Sims Stories) and the most recent one, The Sims Castaway Stories, would probably pass as an adventure game of sorts. Granted, I've never played the story driven games long enough, but the Sims audience is easily open to change, and so I can definitely see them able to revive the genre. The Sims audience will accept just about anything, as long as the word Sim is in it somewhere. I myself am an avid sims fan (I own every single PC Sims game there is, save the Sims Stories line...) and I myself am willing to try any Sim formula EA wants. If the fans want a Sim style point and click adventure game, I'm sure it will happen. And forgive me for going off topic here...

As for the main point of this thread, should Activision take over Sierra, I am skeptical that adventure games will be made from them again. And I have a feeling no more leisure suit larrys will be made (which right now seems to be the only viable hope for the genre's return, at least from Sierra's game roster). Should the new LSL succeed, the genre may have a chance in my eyes. If only it were Maxis developing these adventure games. Maxis always listens to the fans (well, at least the Sims division does.) If the fans want it, and there's enough demand for it, it WILL happen. If Maxis were making a new KQ (the chances of which are very much against, if not impossible by the laws of video games) the fans would most likely get their say. And enough of this off-topicness... XD

As LN said, and I have no idea where that post went, even if they re-release them they won't have the support on new systems.

That will definitely deter people from getting them.

Probably the Useless Convo Thread :P
