Title: Getting together in NYC on Friday.
Post by: Jeysie on January 07, 2004, 05:53:06 AM
I know it's a little last minute to post this, but the notion just occured to me this morning, so... yeah.

Does anyone going want to meet up on *Friday*? Harrison and I are leaving Friday morning and likely will be in NYC late morning or early afternoon. I know Katie will be in NYC on Friday, at least, and possibly Bushie, too. Harrison and I were planning to at least visit Macy's, FAO Schwartz, and the Toys R Us flagship store, but we are, of course, open to other suggestions on places to meet. Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Peace & Luv, Liz

mmm, Im not going but I know Cesar and Mike have been insanely busy lately getting everything done since january first, what you could do (my suggestion) is since its a bit short notice then email them or something, that way you will catch their attenion right away, btw you should consider doing that now or any moment soon, since I think Cesar is leaving soon and Mike has been gone for days (probably getting everything ready), they've been so hard to reach online I dont know if they've been checking the forums lately, thats why I suggest email.

I'll be in NYC ...sometime...on Friday. Depends on when my friend in NJ whom I'm staying with the previous night and I get up and get there. Not even sure when and where I'm meeting the guys yet! hehe. But if it can work out, that'd be cool! :)

Hey Jeysie, don't forget to take a mango with you!

In fact, everyone should take a mango with them.  I'm serious.  Take a mango with you.  It'll be great for photos ;)

Well, I'm not really referring to Cesar and Mike, Say... just the people who *aren't* going to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. ;D

For what it's worth, Mike actually did end up getting back to me and Harrison about our request for floor space. His answer was pretty much, "It's gonna be packed, but you're welcome to, anyway." I'm all for it, heck, I've survived slumber parties before. :D But I'll have to deliberate with the roomie... he's a guy, I guess you men don't do that "30 kids camping out in the living room" thing. ;)

I use nail polish... ::)
Just kidding! ;) Besides, my nails have a natural shine, why should I mess em up? Plus I'm a guy, painted nails would look too weird. :P

Anyways, I'll be there around 6pm, Mike's bringing me to his house after work. We could always have a movie marathon, he has a lot of Kevin Smith movies. ;D

Harrison has been telling me I need to see "Dogma"... ;)

Seriously, though, I think we're going to all need to crash pretty early... there's not gonna be time to watch more than 1 or 2 movies, if we do that.

I LOVE Kevin Smith movies!! yay yay yay!

Yeah, I hardly ever wear it either, Jeysie. Hmm...speaking of meeting ups, I need to write to Mike and find when *I'm* meeting up with him and where....

any ideas as to what time-ish you may be at, say, toys r us etc?

Well, barring any road weirdness, I think we should be in NYC between 12PM and 2PM... most likely around 1PM, I think. After we arrive, I think we're going to grab lunch, then just wing it, so whatever works for you will work for us.

OK, Harrison and I are back! Everyone else is still at Mike's, AFAIK, but Harrison has a church choir to direct on Sundays, so we had to come back yesterday. (Plus we gathered even more people on Saturday, so Mike could use the freed-up floor space.)

Whoo, I haven't had that much fun in quite some time. I mean, I knew you guys were nuts, but that's quite different than experiencing some of the nuts-ness in person. ;D The fact that many of us were running on only small amounts of sleep added to the craziness. (I think poor Mikey was running on *no* sleep. Somebody get that fellow a vacation!) I think once everyone eventually gets back to their computers, we can hash out a "Tales From NYC" report or something.

We thought of several of you while we were there. Especially Storm, since there was some working on of the script and looking at artwork and listening to music while we were there, and Storm had to miss out getting to see it! :suffer: (Before you suffer a heart attack, Say and Yonkey, no, I personally didn't get to see anything revealing.)

Pics are coming as soon as I get them sorted and shrunken down.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oh, make me jealous, why don't you   ::)
Well, at least I was with you in spirit, if not in person... even if it just means you were talking about me behind my back :P

Well, I sadly couldn't get to do the rest of the interviews because we spent all that night casitng and the next day ready to leave, so I didn't get a couple of people, but I can still do an editing job on the tape and post something in the future.

Thank you to all who made to New York this weekend. IT was so FUN. I will post a greater report later. :)

As for making the game... well, at this point I know that scriptwriting apparently consists of Katie and Cesar making random comments about dialogue and sniggering like maniacal little kids planning a prank. ;)

Quote from: Yonkey on January 11, 2004, 08:05:33 AMCan't wait to see the pics (and video, someone better convert it to digital :P)!   8)

Cesar has some video. Once the auditions were over there was still a bit of film left, so he filled it by pointing it at everyone in our group. There's a funny "interview" with Allert (at least, the bits I overheard were funny), and just randoms shots of everyone. Especially Katie... Cesar seemed to enjoy bugging her. Keep in mind, though, that Cesar was doing all this videotaping on the NYC sidewalks, inside the restaurants, inside the subway, etc. And in the midst of a posse of 7-13 people, to boot. I think we totally creeped out a good chunk of the natives. :suffer:

Just so you're warned, Cesar plans on doing interviews of all of the team members. :suffer: :suffer:

Peace & Luv, Liz

Yup, that's pretty much how it happens ;D

Mike, I was going to reply to some quotes in yours but I was about to quote the whole damn thing, so forget that.

I had an AWESOME time too!!! THanks so much and thanks in advance for putting me up this coming weekend, too! Hehehe. Hmmm, yes the train conductor blues, Liz, Harrison and I waiting in the movie theatre for a 30-minute long '10 minutes' for Mike and bushie (aaron) ;D Liz and I kind of oddly looking at one anther when I came into the theatre with a suitcase and taking a minute to figure out, yes, I do know you!

Oh! Allert buzzing up to Mike's apartment and we all find out what Dutch sounds like ;-) "Greet him in his native language!" The speaker was messed up, so it sounded all messed up when he said who he was, hence the joke  ;)

Ohhh what else. Mike, you handled the auditions very well! Your description of the main baddie's motivations time after time after time got more and more compelling! And the person chosen for that guy...SO GOOD!!! Oh man. Perfect for it. You'll all be scared. SCCCARREEDDD!!!  :o

Haha, post our auditions? Oh dear! LOL. Well, I'm happy with what I got. :) And sitting around watching the tapes and casting was really fun too! As someone said, "we need to start a company, this is too much fun!"  hehe.  Highly agreed!

And then there was radio announcer guy who auditioned randomly....and insisted on, rather than standing in the room like everyone else, sitting at the table we were at and being RIGHT in front of the camera.

"You don't need to eat anything...porker!" Ahh, the trio. God bless them for showing up! ;D Three guys who came in together and were hilarious, and we will definitely be using them a lot!!  We've just begun referring to them as that, The Trio.  :D

Oy. All I can think of right now! Haha. And yeah, great times had by all, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (yes, I am practicing!)

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AMI just can't tell you all how much fun I had this weekend.  Meeting you face to face was simply incredible!  I laughed so hard during this weekend I was doubled over in pain - AND STILL LAUGHING!!!!!

Oh, I know, I know. I haven't laughed that much in quite some time. BTW, I still want to be the game laugh track! :suffer: Just kidding!

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AMI only wish I could have been a little more awake - I hope I wasn't too insane for you all.  I'm one of those hyper-tired people.  I get more wired the less sleep I get - until I'm pretty much manic.

Hah, don't worry. I'm very much a "giddy and slap-happy" person myself when I'm tired. Besides, we were *all* insane, so you made us feel right at home! ;)

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AMOh, Jeysie, five minutes is actually a LONG amount of time for auditioning.

<snip>

Oh, I know. But Storm did want to know how the auditions went, so I was honest. It was short. Hee.

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AMOh, Liz, I have to say, Harrison's jokes were funnier more often than you predicted - I would say at least 50% of the time ;)

Hee! Well, Harrison's jokes are kind of like the girl of nursery rhyme with the curl on her forehead... when they're good they're very, very good, and when they're bad they're horrid. ;D Of course, I'm used to his jokes by this point... pity me, pity me. :D

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AM("dunh, dunh, dunh....I woke up this morning....dunh, dunh, dunh, headed out to my train....dunh, dunh, dunh, dunh....hopped into my conductor's car....dunh, dunh, dunh....ate a bagel, it was plain.....dunh, dunh, dunh, dunh....watched tired cranky people.....dunh, dunh, dunh, dunh....heading off to work....dunh, dunh, dunh, dunh....one of them shoves the other....dunh, dunh, dunh, MAN THAT GUY'S A JERK!!!!  WHOAH!  I've got the train conductor blues!").

Hee! Oh, the train conductor blues, that was classic! We're going to have to explain that one, I think. Actually there's a lot of stuff we'll have to explain, hee.

Quote from: mfortunato on January 12, 2004, 06:48:26 AMWith their permission, perhaps we can put our auditions on the kq9 website somewhere - for all of you to view and laugh at ;) - I'm inlcluding myself in this, btw.  At any rate, I'll put mine up :D - I'm such a LEO (what can I say?).

Hah, Mikey, you're a Leo? I should have guessed. Harrison's a Leo too... that's why he lives to perform.

Anyhoo. I don't mind having my audition being posted. In fact, I'm kind of curious to see it... there's at least a couple spots I know I must have looked kind of doofy, whee!

Oh, a recent funny story for you guys. I had told my co-workers last week I was going to NYC, so when I got in this morning they wanted to know how the trip went. So I told them, you know, it was incredibly fun, it was incredibly cold :D Then the conversation went something like this:

Co-Worker #1: So, what did you go to NYC for?
Me: To audition.
Everybody: Ooh, cool, neat, etc.
Me: Err... for a computer game.
Everybody: (sort of confused and brought up short) Er, oh.
Co-Worker #1: I thought you meant like, Broadway or something.
Me: (laughing) Heck, no.
Co-Worker #2: A... computer game, eh?
Me: Yep.
Co-Worker #2: Huh. Interesting. Well, uh, that's good.
(Everyone sort of wanders off.)

Hee. My co-workers seem like all nice people, but computer geeks they definitely are not. :suffer:

I just wanna say I had an unforgettable time seeing you guys in real life. My first encounter was with Cesar friday at 12 AM. Mike wasn't home yet so I kept ringing the front doorbell... no answer...ringring.... no answer. So I kept waiting at the appartment, until this hispanic guy who sat in his car across the street got out, and went at me like: "Ey, homes, lemme get you inside." So I got up and went into the building and arrived at mike's appartment door and knocked three times. And behold, a very tired looking/sounding Cesar Bittar opened the door, and it was like: "Cesar? Hey, it's Allert..." That was great stuff. And finally meeting Katie, Mike, Liz, Aaron, Harrison, and of course Cesar again that same night was simply awesome.

After a good night sleep,  ;) , the auditions were next on schedule. Mike, I wanna thank you for being such a nice guy during my auditioning. I must admit, I was getting a bit nervous telling you about my speech-impediment. You simply showed all the auditionees you're a great judge, and bring up all the best in every single one of the contestants  ;)

I found it to be a shame though I wasn't there to see Mike and Cesar auditioning. I guess I'll just have to wait for the release of the footage we made. I also had a great time interviewing Cesar, walking through the NYC streets, and subways.

Anyway guys, thank you all for letting me hang out with you those days...I won't forget you! I'll also try to spend as much time on the models as I can during the progress of my animation-short.

Non-alcholic please, I am not used to much alcohol.
And non-carbonated too, otherwise I get a headache.

/me joins the depressed whining party.
Hear his cat team whining beside him.

With every post I read about the audition, I start to feel worse and worse about not being able to go myself. :'(

aww, well I personally loved your pics a lot, and I appreciate the gesture of you sharing it with us though but still hahahaha, you cant make us feel different about it since I think they may agree on me on the fact to see that its like "omg Im missing out the fun" or something like that, although I know this has probably been one of the busiest week of team work for mike and cesar and such.

I also know I couldnt go since I have other responsabilities to take care of but even so to know and be on that position, it doesnt make it easier to not being able to go, so let's keep on our moping depressed party  :'(

Ooo....but mango wine would probably taste really yummy!!

And wine should by no means be carbonated. Not REAL wine anyhow.

(If you couldn't tell...I'm a fan of wine! Thats what happens when you spend a year dating someone who wants to owna vineyard one day..... hehe)

I'm currently far too busy to feel depressed about not being able to attend the audition. And anway, the mucho pics and small stories about the trip at least makes me feel somewhat connected, but I'll always have that nagging feeling in the back of my head.
Team, please make sure you release KQ IX at a 'better' time, so I can at least attend the inauguration party. 8)

Don't feel bad, Dragonstar... I don't like my voice either.

It's like, with my speaking style my voice could almost be kind of elegant and eloquent sounding... except that it's too high-pitched, soft, ditzy, and breathy-sounding. (And not like sexy Marilyn Monroe breathy either, but more like "Help, I'm not getting enough oxygen" breathy.)

And then there's my tendency to mispronounce words, and to stutter and stammer. Every time we had to read stuff aloud in class, I would start frantically thinking up excuses to leave class for a while.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Nah, we just want to keep the official thread in General for questions related to the auditions.  Dragonstar's post is in this thread too, just higher up cuz of the time.   ;D

Heh. Well, in my case it's because I read too quickly. So not only was I bored keeping to the snail pace of the class reading aloud, but whenever I read aloud myself my brain would go faster than my mouth, so I'd end up stuttering and stammering the whole thing. Actually, I still end up doing that. :P

I myself read rather quick too, especially as long as I don't have to rad out loud, but when I have to read out loud, my reading speed lowers enough for my mouth to keep up. That is a normal reaction, you read slower if you have to read out loud. My problem is, my mind continuously switches topics, so it's hard for me to keep focused (which is also the reason why it's easy for me to forget something that happened no more than a minute ago). Most of the time the current task swithes back into focus enough to keep focused on that task. Even I mix up sentences though, but I guess that's also just normal behavior. :-\

Oh, and Jeysie, at least your singing voice is just fine. :-*

Heh. Yeah, the cold/allergies didn't affect my voice much, it just made me come close to coughing up a lung on a few occasions. :P

I'm sure he'd be perfectly willing to if you taught it to him... mostly because he's willing to sing just about anything if you teach it to him. ;D But unless he pesters Mike enough ;) he prolly won't get any official singing bits.
