I alway got caught by the troll and i gave up.HELP ME
Same here. Try this: once you get in the cave and you don't see the troll, save in a different save file. Now, if you go east and see the troll, reload, otherwise go that way. If you reloaded go south, if you still see the troll then repeat these actions. In the eastern room go south, or if you make it to the southern room go east. I don't think the troll is ever seen in the last room there. Make sure you save once getting into that room, though. ;)
ok. thanks for the help .
Glad to help. ;D
Do u have more tips for that troll
Nope, that's about it. You can also try exiting and reloading your game, hopefully that will adjust the random number settings that keeps the troll around. Just keep trying, eventually you'll get in.
ty for the help again.
You will die about 8 out of 10 times...keep being persistant though and you will get through. That's one of the hardest parts of any KQ game. KQ4 would probably be the hardest KQ to beat without saving because of that reason. Speaking of which, has anyone ever tried, or done that (Completed a KQ game without dying once). I don't know that it's possible...especially without hints.
I don't think that's possible, unless you mean playing it again after you've completed it at least once. ;D
It's not possible because you have to explore in adventure games. Sometimes things that look harmless are actually dangerous and vice versa. :P
Sometimes it looks funny when u die.
I passed the troll bit without ever seeing the troll ???, i didnt even know there was a troll :o
Lucky... :P
I think I did a few times, too, because I don't remember the troll all that well.
Erm, I did tell him to save once he got to the third screen.... ::)
Yes, but did you tell him to take the board? ;D
Oops... :suffer:
Ah well, he'll get it soon. ;)
Yeah it was one of the toughest areas in any KQ game. Unfairly made, but that's life.
If I recall correctly, after crossing you should go to the lower left side of the screen. Been a while for me too, but I think that's the right spot.
Thanks...that's the worst designed part of any KQ, without a doubt.
Can anyone else offer a bit of info on this puzzle? I'm still stuck...
Any more hints?
Ah...I got past it, but my game is ruined, as I misdug one grave, and the shovel broke before I was done with the five ghost missions. So sad. :-\
I remember the music freaked me out when the troll would come after me. It was well done because I felt very disturbed by it.
Yeah, same here. :P Especially since you never get to see exactly what it looks like, it is like a fear of the unknown.
How true! I wonder how King's Quest IX will compare? Will it have a troll? ;D
Cesar is the troll. :suffer:
Kiiidding, though there might well be all variety of monsters. ;) I haven't read much of the script yet so I can't say for sure. ;P
Not that I ever would of course. :suffer:
Yeah, I just replayed KQ4 myself in the past 3 hours. ;) I noticed that too. :)
It is a little tricky getting back though, I agree. I basically went to the bottom of the screen after going south from the swamp entrance and slowly edged left until I saw a vague outline. And I actually got through the cave much faster this time, I was surprised! I remember one time I gave up cuz I spent 50 tries trying to get through. ;P
The trickiest part in KQ3 was probably getting the treasure, I keep forgetting whether I was successful or not in getting it. Anybody know the surefire way to get the treasure? ...thoguh I think what I missed sometimes was hearing the rumor of treasure from the rats, I think if you don't hear that then you can't dig for the treasure and find it. :P

Ah, the sad ending... I tried that too. I think you can also get to it by not getting the fruit in the firstplace ;)
Yeah, but at least this way you can just reload to see the good ending. ;) Plus the message you get from eating the fruit is interesting. ;)
I never saw the sad ending myself. Maybe I will reinstall KQIV and play it through to refresh my memory and see the sad ending. Thanks for the information about the sad ending. :)
