The forum how has different colours to go with each new level you hit when you reach another stage! :D
This was taken from a suggestion Say asked me about ages ago, but I finally got down to doing it! ;D
Instead of me listing all the colours and what they match, I'll let you guys do it. ;D
I'll start:
Administrator = orange 8)
Great Oracle=Red
Silly Adventurer=A paler yellow
Wizard's Slave=Plain grey
Forum problem fixed. Whee! Do I get my punishment for spoiling everyone's fun, now? ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
The Wizard's Slave is actually supposed to be a different colour, but it keeps screwing up. ::)
Eh, I wouldn't worry about it. Having the Wizard's Slave be the default color seems oddly appropriate. ;)
Now that I think some more about it... how did you do this, anyway? My instinct would be to somehow use a member's post data to dynamically stick a class in the post status-title-space tag of each forum member of a certain status. Like, you'd have "(P)Jeysie(/P)(P CLASS="wizard")Powerful Wizard(/P)" or however your HTML is set up. Then I'd use something like "P.wizard {color: #00ff00}" in the CSS file. I don't know enough PHP to know if that's possible, though. I'm always curious to learn how stuff works. :)
Peace & Luv, Liz
It would be sooooo much easier if they had all the things defined in the style tag, but they don't.
Well, I didn't exactly design this, but this is the general idea of how it works: I think it uses the <font color=blah>, but in order to figure out the colour, it has to determine your user level. For mine it's Administrator, and Say's is Global Moderator, but for the rest of you it's based on your current post count.
Since there are a lot more than 4 user titles on this board, I had to modify the code to use all custom titles, or the colours wouldn't get picked correctly. (Bug #1 that I had to fix).
Then it couldn't find the "Wizard's Slave" because the apostrophy in the title was confusing the SQL query. (Bug #2 which I had to fix too).
Now, everything should be fine. ;D
Ah, huh, so my thought might actually be possible, if I read your first paragraph right. Cool. (takes notes)
Peace & Luv, Liz
The colour assigning might be possible by how you said using CSS. But the forum itself doesn't know which user is a Wizard and which isn't, so it can't choose the specific class name without performing all the calculations for the post level. :)
it took a while but Im so glad neil could figure it out, I hope you all like this new feature as much as we already do :]
The Wizard's Slave one isn't grey... :P
I'm hoping for one of them to come here and post what it really is. ;D
Aw, MAN!
You coulda told me that Royal Hair was light blue... I <3 light blue!
lol, I mean to match the colour you had in your post for it. :)
Oh. Now I'm completely lost. Wasn't it the same color? ???

Oops, maybe it was the same colour. ;D Red, Yellow and Green (Lime Green) I think are all the same colours as in the font tags.
Ooo! I wanna see mine :)

KQ9 Groupie!'s color is gold(or a funny colored yellow).
:o :o it is?? I haven't noticed!! :o :-\
The Global Moderator color (i.e. Say) is pink.
Hey, maybe that's why there's no male Global Moderators! (Hee, J/K.)

NM
It was my Nview settings(color correction). ;]
I thought it was magenta :S
On my monitor:
This is magenta.
This is pink.
See the difference now? ;P
The purplish tint to the pink might be because we're seeing it against a dark blue background?
Peace & Luv, Liz
Most likely. When we picked these colours, it was using the colour palette, and the background was white. ;D
On MY monitor:
This is red.
This is red.
This is magenta.
This is magenta.
The second and fourth ones are correct on mine. ;D
Btw, what's the difference between magenta and fuschia? ???
Quote from: Yonkey on September 08, 2004, 09:20:51 AMBtw, what's the difference between magenta and fuschia? ???
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magenta), there isn't a difference. (shrug)
Peace & Luv, Liz
On my monitor,
This is red is slightly lighter than This is red
And This is magenta is lighter than This is magenta.
No change of shade otherwise :-\
RAWR! fear my pinkiness :P
Slightly lighter is a change of shade. :P Pink is just a really desaturated version of red. Anyway, the difference between pink and magenta is that magenta is more vibrant (and 80's like gaudy :X), pink is well... pink. There's also Hot Pink which was used in Katie's avatar and I think it's similar to magenta, IIRC.
Anyway, the Global Moderator colour doesn't look purple or red on my monitor. That was all I was trying to say. :P
don't worry Neil, I believe you :P
I actually see it pink too, not magenta or red, that shows that some of the ones around here need to calibrate their monitors or get a new one... or get new eyes too whynot?! :P
You leave my colour blindness out of this, y'a hear? >:(
;P
it all looks like this color to me :-\

*calibrates monitor*
Now everything's pink! :-\
I'm serious.
*changes monitor back to original setings*
Depends on the browser. Some text browsers do accept rudimentary color formatting, I think.
Peace & Luv, Liz
It's definitely pink!
My monitor isn't whacked, it's just that everyone else is color blind ::)
Ok, it is whacked, but no color issues yet 8)
