It was so cool! I had my Yahoo! Messenger up (which I hardly ever do) and it said I had mail...the KQ9 newsletter. I opened it and clicked on the online auditions and they were up!!! Just sent in all three...hoping to hear something soon, but I know it will take a while for them to go through everyone's auditions! And I'm sure that they're swamped right now because everyone wants to get theirs in first...am I right? lol. Have fun everyone!
Catherine
Thank you for your quick auditions!
Im glad eveyrone is excited :)
Is it first come first serve??? huh, huh, huh??? ;D j/k
Catherine
dont worry I'll email Mike tonight for him to start taking a look on it :)
thanks! can you tell that this is something that I want??? don't give me special preference, though...it probably isn't all that good anyway!
Catherine
This will be fun, no matter the outcome! :D
that's the spirit girls! :D
I was in my Fantasy Lit. class talking to a couple girls about KQ...turns out that both of them have played some of the games...both have played KQ7, and one has played another, but not sure which one that was. It was so cool, b/c I told them about this website and what ya'll were doing. Then mentioned the voice auditions. One of them was so excited, about how cool to even have the opportunity to do this is! Maybe she'll come on one day and join us lunatics (you know, those of us who are like...Can't wait, how much longer, etc.).
Catherine
I'm gonna share the online auditions info with my Drama teacher from high school, I can't find out what her email is nowadays so I have to go to the high school in person. ;P Which I don't mind really as it is 5 minutes down the road. ;)
fan or not fan everyone is welcome to try the auditions, in fact, the more the better since it will help us out a lot. you may pass out the link or info to whoever you believe may be interested musicians/actors/fans/friends :)
aaaand they can hang around here too :D :P
So far I've bugged four of my online friends into trying out. And Harrison says he wants to get his mom and sisters and a friend of his to try out. And I still have a few more friends to bother...
Peace & Luv, Liz
I have no one to bug into joining... I know very few people who speak English well enough, and none of them will be interested. :-\
Quick question :) Could we imprivise some ???
Yeah, feel free. ;) Just be sure to do one or two of the main ones provided, with normal voice and special voice, just so Mike has something to work off of. If you have a funny phrase or a short piece, I'm sure that would be fine. Just don't overload Mike with 20 sound files, now. ;)
To follow up on that, a clear speaking voice is very important! So don't mumble.. (Says the king mumbler) As they say in every audition I’ve ever been in, relax, take your time, and enjoy yourself! -- In less then three minutes or 2 MG’s…
The online audition gives you the added ability to smooth over mistakes and edit your work. On the other hand if you want my two cents, I’d keep it simple, your auditioning your voice not how well you can use SoundForge....
Did I say relax? Yea…that’s the best idea…I’m going to go take a valium now… ;B
I've got a few friends who are interested and plan on auditioning.
Yes, go nuts, do all kinds of voices, vary your age and accent with them...have fun! But yes, also be sure to have at least one is your 'speaking' voice so Mike just gets an idea of your voice. But show us your range of talent, too! :)
Quote from: mfortunato on March 03, 2004, 10:21:29 AMI'm going to be very busy during the month of March, aren't I?
Harrison and I shall have to remember to bring you coffee. ;D
Peace & Luv, Liz
And donuts. ;P
I sent mine ;) I had great fun being absolutly random didn't do all my voice jsut whatever came to mind! I left off my kid voices though so if you have kids in the game I can send more off. ( if you played Tierras KQ2 I played kid Graham in the flashback that's my main little boy voice)
Kewl! Now I'm gonna have to replay KQII+ just to hear your voice. ;)
Forgive me if I've overlooked the answer, but how long will the online auditions be open for? I was planning to submit something this week but my mom is sick and has 'shared' it with me. ;P Thus my throat is now scratchy and so is my voice, so it would probably not be a good time to record myself. ;]
Aha, great, thank you kindly for your replies! :)
Hehe I sound even worse today - like I swallowed the frog instead of kissing it! ;)
Should we record a normal speaking voice for every role we audition for (Heroic, Comic etc.) or just one role?
Just one role really, he just needs to hear your regular voice.
Is it any use for me auditioning when my regular voice has a distinct Dutch-type accent, and I can't do any of the other male accents required?
Some people submitted all of theirs with their normal voices, some did many accents in the same file, some applied for all parts, some mixed parts, someone even sang one of their parts! :o :D As long as you specify what you're doing in the Additional Info box, it's all good. ;D
I just submitted my two today! !!! Hahahah they were actually really fun!
I just did part of my first one in my normal voice, then a "french" accent for the rest of it. The second submission I tried to do a Texas accent, just for fun. ;P
And... here they are:
Male 1 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/NeilRodrigues_Male1.mp3)
Male 2 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/NeilRodrigues_Male2.mp3)
As you can tell, I am in no way the best one... so if you think you're better or even much worse; if I could do it, so can you! How come only a few of our forum regulars have submitted?? Where's Storm's, copycat's, Mango's, Alex's, Dragonstar's, The Knight's, Takari's, Racx's, Brr's, StephieSama's, uselessid's... ok ok too many to list hahaha but we really want you guys to try out!!
Oh yeah, if anyone else wants to their audition made public, just ask. :)
Quote from: Yonkey on March 05, 2004, 10:20:21 PMOh yeah, if anyone else wants to their audition made public, just ask. :)
I want mine made public... (nudge, nudge)
Peace & Luv, Liz
lol, you'll have to nudge Mike for the live auditions. I can only work with the Online Audition ones. ;D
never really liked the sound of my voice ; ) ...when I used to record something and played it back later it was like: AHHHH, do I sound like that!!! ; )
Believe it or not that’s a common phenomena you spend your whole life listening to yourself with your skull, teeth, and sinus as both an amplifier and a buffer (oh dear he’s getting technical…) The long and short is you sound different on tape then you do in your head. When you hear it, it doesn’t sound “right†to you. I have the same problem!
I’m sure you sound fine…your friends and family don’t put on earmuffs when you open your mouth do they? :-[ Audition… it’s fun! :D
If it makes you feel better, B'rrr, I hate my voice, too. In my head, my voice sounds to me like this nice, strong, solid alto voice... but "outside" my head, it's really this breathy, soft, high-pitched, ditzy, little girly voice. It's like, "Noooo! I don't really sound that lame, honest!" :P
Yonkey: I would glady nudge Mike and/or Cesar, but they don't show up as often. So I'm nudging by proxy. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, <3 )
Peace & Luv, Liz
...hmmm doesn't really make me feel better ; ) ...but I guess it can't be that bad to audition, can it ; ) ...I mean, I don't have to like it, but perhaps you guys will ; )
Hmmm, I do have to get a mic and a recording program though ; /
Quote from: B'rrr on March 06, 2004, 11:22:50 AMI mean, I don't have to like it, but perhaps you guys will ;)
Exactly! Look at it this way... I hate my voice, but I still got a part. So either my voice doesn't suck as much as I think it does, or Mike is insane.
...or both. Hmm.
Peace & Luv, Liz
QuoteHmmm, I do have to get a mic and a recording program though ; /
Dude! get a USB microphone( I got one after I auditioned oooops!!) must send you guys some more randomness)mine was £20 and the quality is fabulous. As for recording software I just started using audacity which is free and lovely...;3
As for the voice you knid of get used to how it records..although I still find it freaky when my voice is in dubs..
I don't think I'll ever get used to how my voice records. It's a good thing I didn't get a main part... means I only have to cringe for a few bits of the game. (J/K... mostly ;) )
Peace & Luv, Liz

Pssst... Yonkey... can we cut a little side bribe deal so I can hear Storm's audition?
Peace & Luv, Liz
lol, I think Storm's the one u need to be bribing here! ;P Or, maybe she could send u it over MSN if she doesn't want the whole forum/world to hear. ;D
Yoo-hoo... oh Stormie...
Anyhoo. Just got done listening to Yonkey's audition. Are there any sexy bar patrons or lounge singers or something? 'Cause you totally got your dude, right there. Can I kidnap him for a little while? ;)

lol, French Creep That Hits On Rosella <3 my dream has come true! ;) ;P
Yonkey, the random switch to French guy was hilarious!! Nice job! XD
Azure & Copycat - YES!! To any kind of voice. I've said MANY timese before and will repeat. We need all varieties of voices, including old and young and different accents! Send in anything! We may hear a voice we didn't think we wanted and suddenly love it! so PLEASE record your variations and send them in! For a fact we need young kid voices and older aged voices. So send 'em in!

As for me, I'm going to try to audition today, if not, tomorrow or Wednesday. It'll be fun! If I get my mic working decently enough.
Today, I just submitted another audition! ;D I decided to go a little insane and try some voice effects:
Male 3 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/NeilRodrigues_MaleEvil.mp3)
MuaHaHaHaHa! :suffer: ;P
ok...it's official. If I'm up against people as talented as Yonkey, there's no way I'm getting a part!
Catherine
well you could always try the female roles ; )
I AM female! I was just saying that if everyone (male and female included) is as talented as Yonkey, then...well, see my above post.
Jeysie: Lol! That's funny! True also!
Catherine
LOL! I'm not talented at all! Hahaha, that was just me digitally experimenting with stuff, kind of like what they do for Britney Spears. ;) :suffer:
And your auditions were really great, Koko! You were even the first one to apply!! Are you sure you don't want everyone else to hear? ;D
So...you've already heard them? And I was the first! I feel so special! If you think they're that great, sure, go ahead and put them up. Give my ego a boost...since I don't think I'm all that great at acting anyway! But hey, it's just for the fun of it, right? Right? lol :P
Cat
Yup, I've heard all of them, not sure if Mike has or not though. He's extremely busy these days. ;-D Both myself and Mike get notified when someone submits something. :P
Yeah, I thought they sounded really nice! But keep in mind that Mike's the one who decides who in or not... not me! ;D
And as per your request, here's Koko :D
Female Heroic (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/CatherineTyson_Female-heroic.mp3)
Female Serious (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/CatherineTyson_Female-serious.mp3)
Female Comic (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/CatherineTyson_Female-comic.mp3)
When you say name, can we use our forum names? And when does the online audition end? I'm going to try very soon, though I need to get through with this **** cold!<sigh> :-[
Sent kiddy voice feel free to make public if you like 'em ;3
Huh? Me understand not.
Well, at least I know that I did everything correctly, from recording to converting to sending! lol. I guess it doesn't sound all that bad. Thanks for putting them up!
Cat
I like the heroic one. Are these only minor roles and by minor what do you mean? 2 lines?3?
Dragon I wasn't replying to you XD
Usually I'd say it's Ok to audition with a screen name although you'll have to check if the KQ9 team on their submission rules.
Forgive me for my low intelligence! ;D
hehe s'ok BTW Koko awesome voice you got there!
Dragonslyr,
you must submit your real name to the auditions, sorry :(
Thanks! I feel really special now! The funny thing, the heroic one is my normal speaking voice! At least, if it's not, it's really, REALLY close. I think I may have derived from it just a tiny bit! And, yes, I am that articulate in real life, and yes, I am southern! Thanks again! 8)
Cat
You must submit your real name, e-mail address and location when applying for the audition.
Koko, I like your Heroic one the best, the voice is so soothing. ;D

Thanks! BTw did you get my female one? if it's ok I might send in some more female ones isnce I upgraded my mic

Quote from: Yonkey on March 07, 2004, 02:30:06 PMYup, Liz Christie was one of them, and AzureVA was the other female... so far! :P
Yippee, yippee! BTW, if you can't e-mail her for some reason, you can e-mail her stuff to me... she said her e-mail's being a bit flaky. Although by time Mike gets to look at the stuff, maybe it'll have cleared up.
Quote from: Yonkey on March 07, 2004, 02:30:06 PMlol, I have no idea who that is.. but whoever you are you better watch out for the Yonkey!! ;)
Hee! Tony Jay did Saladin and the Gate in KQ6... but he's done a lot of bad guy voices... Megabyte in Reboot, The Transcendent One in Planescape: Fallout, Shere Khan in TaleSpin... and Virgil in Mighty Max. OK, that was a good guy voice. Still, he rocks. :) But we could use some young blood for bad guy roles of the future... ;)

Well, now, shouldn't we be the judge of that? I mean, you said you were uglier-looking than all of us, and you're very pretty, so I claim that your personal perception is skewed here as well.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Go Jeysie! ;B
Say, come on...I know you think you sound horrible, but that's what everyone thinks about their own voices. As someone mentioned earlier, it's all because of the resonance going on in the holes in your head (NOT being mean, b/c everyone has holes in their head--all the sinus cavities in the skull--learned that in my Anatomy class). If you want, as you've told us, do you regular speaking voice, don't try to do different voices. It's harder to do than just record your regular voice (no duh :D).
You can do it, Say!!
Cat
Hole in the head? Where can I sign up? I’d like one of those! !!!
So we want Say to audition? Or has she already and we want to hear it? (Sorry this threads gotten a little away from me.)
Either way how’s about bribery? Maybe some really good coffee?
The funny thing is...you already have one...anatomically, anyway!

Not to mention, there's a scream in Female 3's dialogue! !!!
hahahha, very funny :P
I personally thought it was! ;D Please, Say! I better stop begging, or I might not get a part!

I tried that, but alas... and the wav file does sound dissorted... a bit... not as disorted as the mp3's though.
perhaps i'll submit a redo... but not tonight however ; )
Alright, sounds good. Don't forget to give it a different filename. :)

Nah, I'll leave the sound-effects to you people... sending the regular files alone might be too much for this crappy dial-up :P
Welcome to our forums Zanthia :)
ill audition then ;D, when do they have to be in by ???
And i dont care if you post them or not ;B
Oh and WELCOME TO THE FORUM ZANTHIA
ASAP ; ) ....there is no real deadline posted anywhere, so i'll guess they continue 'till all roles have a suitable voice assigned.
...but that is just a wild guess ; )
when you are notified that you have the part what happens then ???
you would get instructions (as well as your part given) and some direction I asume, for you to record it and such.
i guess i would be able to do it between homework XB, im auditioning to night ;D, well i'll record and try to send in tonight ;B, but which male part should i do heroic, evil or comedic ???
don't have to think about that.... jsut do all ; )
I need someone to tell me what to do first :P, otherwise ill get confused and not do it :-\
1st evil (cuz it suits you, or at least you think it does ; )
2nd heroic (cuz it's the 'normalst')
3rd Comic (cuz I think it's the hardest, but it's all hard for me so it doesn't really matter ; )
so, now you have your todo list ; ) ...don't get confused and please sebmit
i dont think i would be good with Comedic :-\
k then, apply for male evil and try to be really meanieh, go :P
Just apply!!
btw I wasn't really good at comic too, so I didnt' do that one.... but do apply the others!!
btw Say have YOU applied yet?
*puppy eyes*
whaaaa ? :P
no sorry I havent yet, but I will, its just I need to find a way to fix up the mic crappyness :( because if I normalize the file (or increase volume) so will the noise... so... :(
well you heard my demo lol you must remember, it was like a noise, or stuff :(
For the evil one all i have to do is make my voice real deep and speak a little faster than usual with longer pauses ;B
hmmm... did you know what is wrong? ...is it the mic itself, wire (broken or so), program (wrong setting), etc?
i should get a better mic but i dont have the money :-\
I only tried Evil and Comic, and I found Evil easier to do and it seems to sound better, so that's the one I submitted.

Kewl, just remember to submit something with your normal voice as well. :)
btw I agree, I find comedy a bit harder than the rest :-X
Hmm. I dunno about the male comic one, but I found the female comic one the easiest to do. (Although I stumbled a little over the gagging part... :P ) Of course, I have a naturally somewhat sarcastic personality, so there you go.
The serious one was really the hardest for me... the dialogue was just too stilted for me to really wrap my voice around. It's just not the sort of stuff I would say. (Plus, when I mentioned to my online friends that I got a serious part, they all laughed. :P ) I kept wanting to throw in segue words, too.
The heroic one flowed well for me, but I didn't get to say all of it.
Peace & Luv, Liz
I was hoping for a little goofy part, myself... was kind of surprised at the "biggest" part I got... didn't think my voice would be right for that sort of thing. But Mike's da boss... what he thinks works, well, I'll MAKE it work. :) Gotta keep the peeps happy! ;D
Peace & Luv, Liz
And that you do Jeysie! I don't see an unhappy person in the house!
I still have to get around to recording and sending in files, like so many I’m currently in the “Quest for the Micâ€. Luckily, I think I'll borrow one from the college’s multimedia lab. With luck this weekend…
Though I haven’t tried all the sides out yet, I’m certainly in the mood to try out the villain… 8)
I'm still waiting for the right time when there's no one around, so I can embarrass myself in private :P
Say -
Enough with the excuses! record & upload already!! ;B
Storm, those are my thoughts exactly! As somebody who once fancied himself and actor and then thought better of it, I have to warm up to the idea of going nuts in front of a Mic. I’m sure it’ll be this weekend…alone… with the lights off… and strange Enya like music in the background…
Don’t give Say a hard time, I’m sure she’ll get around it, if not that’s ok too.. ;B
but, but, but...*sniff* we want to hear Say! lol

Um..hi everyone! <3
I'm new here, but I just wanted to say that I'm here as a representative of the female population to audition for the KQ9 voiceovers. ;D ;D ;D
I sent mine in and already cajoled my brother into auditioning as well, aaaand I'm working on recruiting more girls to try out. *sniff* I never dreamed there's be a day where two of my favorite things, King's Quest and voice acting, would ever be one! I'm so excited I think I might wet myself. XB;;
Welcome Zanthia! Good luck in your quest for recruiting more ladies! :D I'm glad you auditioned, too. :)
And Say, I agree with everyone, I really want to hear your beautiful voice! !!! No pressure or anything, just relax and try to feel comfortable with what you are speaking. Just speak it like you are talking to a good friend. :)
I agree with eric, give poor Say a break
Yeah, give poor Say a break ;P

Okay Say, at least record your "Whoopee!" when you are finally finished with your thesis! ;)
Wow, Zanthia! :D The serious female sends shivers down my spine, not sure why. ;)
I've just finished recording all 6 pieces... took me about 20 takes each just to manage to get all the words right, and I couldn't help breathing into the mike (is it physically possible to talk without exhaling? 'cause I tried real hard) which made everything sound even worse, not to mention I have a horrible voice and can't act for crap :(
Now that I hear how good everyone else is I just feel like deleting it all :-[
Whoa all 6?! !!! Nice!! Don't worry about the takes, I have no idea how many I did and I had that breathing problem as well. It's pretty hard to control. :-\
I've heard people saying try to put the mic directly under your mouth so you're talking somewhat over it, rather than straight into it. I have no idea if this works, but it sounds like it would reduce some of the air. ::)
Also, don't worry about everyone else -- just submit what you feel comfortable with. Mike just wants to hear your voice and then he'll be able to decide where to place you and whatnot. :)
Ah, I know you're just trying to convince me to upload them so that you and Say can laugh about my accent ;)
I think I'll do a couple more re-takes... just until I'm happy with the result. It might take forever though :P

yah, thats cesar :P
I've found that if I get about a foot or two from my mike and speak up a bit more, it works fine and doesn't pick up on breathing.
I'll try that tomorrow, when my voice (hopefully) recovers... all those re-takes made me hoarse already :(
Im not gonna be able to record for a while :-\, cos there was a black out yesterday and its corrupted my computer files :'(, i cant download programs or install them :'(
Well, haven't heard anything from anybody on this thread in about 24 hours, so thought I'd post. So, has anyone hear about the auditions yet?? :P I do know that it's going to take awhile, so don't mind me! lol
Cat
I didn't get anything from Mike yet as far as my lines, once he's done with those though he'll have more time to look through the submissions. ;)
Alright all you wonderful, lovely people! American Caesar has closed. I can now concentrate on getting the script to those already cast and casting those who auditioned online. For those waiting for a script, I will be breaking it apart this week (FINALLY!) and sending it out by this weekend.
For those of you who have auditioned online, I will be listening to those during the week. It will take me a bit of time to go through them (there's quite a lot already). I hope to be able to start casting next week.
Thank you all!
Mike,
Are you still excepting submissions (I know mine isn’t quite ready yet)? I feel like I should know this but I don’t... Thanks!
Quote from: koko_99_2001 on March 15, 2004, 08:45:26 AM
one of my files I converted to mp3...but when I went to send it, I sent the .wav file. Should I resend it as an .mp3, or will it be ok?
You don't need to resend it as an mp3. Since the wav was was under 2 MB it uploaded fine. :)
Thanks for clearing that up, Mike made it sound like he’d closed submissions. I don’t know Say, think my voice work came out ok, but anal-retentive me NEEDS to edit them. Isn’t it great to be type A… :D
I believe when mike said "Alright all you wonderful, lovely people! American Caesar has closed." he clearly out meant something else, I asume he's been on a play or some of his field about directing or acting (I said mike was a real actor and director :P)
but also then he said "I can now concentrate on getting the script to those already cast and casting those who auditioned online." he meant and be happy he was going to sit down and listen to all of you as well as evaluate you and hand over parts to whomever they select, BUT that doesnt means the auditions stops, so FEAR NOT and GO SUBMIT :P
Good luck everyone! :)
and dont feel bad cuz you thought it was over, I can openly say you werent the only one, the fact I got here to post that was cuz I got a "GO SUBMIT YOUR DEMO NOW BEFORE IT CLOSES" as know as, some bitching over msn cuz he thought it was closing and I lied about me posting my demo :P
I HAVE the demo, the problem is I CANT record it properly, my motherboard does a stupid sound wont allow me calibrate my mic, so I guess I can post the demo but honestly I couldnt commit to record anything IF lol (very important IF lol) I get selected :P
I suck, go on lucky ones that can record and submit quality files :P, lol and I wanted to participate :( *stabs pc repeatedly*
What kind of noise? Is it like a constant humming in the background? Mango was having the same problem and I was able to isolate the noise and showed her how to filter it out of her recording! !!!
Unfortunately, she hasn't submitted yet cuz she got strep throat. Get well soon, Mango!! <3
If it's background noises or a humming noise you're talking about, I found that the noise reduction filter on Goldwave (under Effect>Filter>Noise Reduction) helped my audition files a LOT. But it also might depend on the quality settings, too. Recording at lower qualities, I've noticed, creates a sort of static-y background noise. Hope that helps at least a little. :-\
On a second note, with all this talk about closing auditons, IS there a cut-off date for submissions? Or is just until enough people are gathered? Juuuust curious. ^^;;

I asume we will have it open at least 2 months, we will see.
if its open for another 2 months then i will be able to send in a demo XB
Well...I had a dream about the auditions last night...I'm sure you want to hear it (sarcasm here)...but I did get a part, and to tell how close to the truth it was...all the participants in the game ended up at some kind of award show (where Orlando Bloom was...*swoons*). Say and one other person (no idea who it was) act out a part of the game and then someone stands up at the podium and says "These people put a lot of work into coming up with a script and acting it out. But how much work do you think they put into it when they have made a computer game out of it?" The lights dim, focus on a screen, and I wake up!
How perfect was that? Even in my dreams I can't envision what the game will be like! (Trust me, that's a complement to EVERYONE working on the game!) :P
Cat
wheee.... that's a nice dream!! congratz on you part ; )
...you hear Say?! now you'll have to submit (after the 17th of cource) cuz else the dream woudn't come true ; )
LOL omg you guys are hilarious ;P
in fact you know what, let me upload my submit, the point is this is the cwappy one, you know? the one with the noise thingy
so Im gonna upload it so you can all listen to me and once I figure how the fukz to clear it up then I will submit my proper one :)
hahaha ;P OMG give me 5 minutes to get it up ;P, be right back ;P
yes there is unfortunate a lot of back noise.... but you still sound great ; )
TAA DAAHHH !
www.dynehost.com/say/omfg.htm
:P
XD OMGWTF <3
Yeah, there was a lot of background noise. I'll see if there's a way to remove it. ;D
lol, the blooper was secsay! ;P I remember you telling me you couldn't get past that part for so long cuz u kept laughing! Hahahaha :D
lol sexy? I sound like a moron :P
about the blooper, omfg lol I know ;P I actually did the same mistake like 3 more times I had to forget about it for a while and re-start like an hour later lol
oh well, my cwappy acting skills... what else can i say ;P
It’s not that bad, mine on the other hand I haven’t had the bravery to listen to mine since I did the rough recording on Sunday!
As for bloopers, that evil speech is a mouthful, lot of good stuff in it but certainly not one breaths worth.
Yay! SecSay voice! ;B You sound a little tired though, which is understandable given your thesis work. ;)
As for one breath's worth, ET, I wonder if anyone could actually say that speech in one breath? Would be fun. ;)
lol this one was record way before even rob submited his own demos :P (sort of around when neil did his) lol, so that's me :P I guess :(
You had this recording all that time and only share it now with us?? ....MEANIEH!! ;P
Do i really have to do one in my normal voice ???
Because my normal voice over mic sux :'(
On the other hand, the voices that i put on sound great ;D, im still a bit nervous about it though cos IMO my voice is really crappy over mic :'(
I thought they espesially wanted to hear your normal voice. And if you have a great voice we want to hear it ; )
...now ...or later in KQ9 ; )
but my normal voice sucks cos of the mic :-\
hmmm.... i'll bet they see/hear through that, besides you can always submit as many (uh-oh...; ) 'non-normal' voices as you wish.
i guess so !!!, but then ppl are gonna here my normal voice and pay me out or think im weird :S
...well, in that case you ask if only your other voices will be made public and your normal voice not, so we won't hear it (unless he makes it to KQ9 ; )
But then you'll never no which one is me unless you pass the game :suffer:, ill make sure you never finish :suffer:
Don't worry, Jason...Everyone thinks that their normal voice sounds horrible when they listen to it recorded...just look at Say, who it took about a month, I guess, to finally post something (*ducks*--love ya, Say!).
Cat
I will do it just have to get my family outta the house so i can do it ;)
Noisy bunch they are ;-D
LOL fine I wont post any more files :P
...you ...you have more? please post!
*puppy eyes... and nose*
If I submitted a recording of me speaking in something that's *slightly* different than my normal voice, do I still have to send something else in exactly my normal voice?
you can do it, but it is not neccesary.
on the options we suggested it as we would like to but if it were mandatory I would have written it in bold huge and noticeable, you may submit what you like, not neccesarily your normal voice, you also may submit as much as you like.
That depends on what you mean by "slightly" different. :P
by that I understood acting, I dont personally believe they are looking for voice effects.
No voice effects. Just, at some points a slight (false) accent seems to form.
If it's just a few points with the false accent, I think it's fine, as long as the rest of it is more or less your normal voice. If you want you could submit some lines with your normal voice and the rest with the false accent. Just make sure you specify any accent you do in the Additional Info box. :)
I didn't really put anything in there...
its alright anyways, dont worry about it
Woo! Our very own Roberta/Mango Williams submitted her audition! !!! <3

And Mango, you have a cool name. :)
Yes you sound very cool, very Mangoish!! ...but alas, now we know that your name isn't Roberta Williams ; )
Thanks Bushie, and B'rrr! I personally hated it, but hey. I sound all nasally and eww...
As for that name that I put on my audition... I don't like it, but that's my non-Roberta name so that children don't hassle me for autographs.
She's trying to protect herself from the crazy fans she has roaming around! ;D

Too bad about the noise though :-\
Mango sounds great too... more serious than I imagine her, but then it's a serious bit ;)
Amazing. Beautiful. They brought tears to my eyes.
Yes, exactly what Koko said :P It's... Protection from fans :3
Storm, I unfortunately pretty much sound like that iRL unless I'm with a group of friends, at which point I sound uberly loud and obnoxious :P
You dont have fans Mango :P, you have stalkers :o
thank you storm! I think you're the only one that did comment on it so far, I guess not many ppl saw the post or I sound so horrible they rather do not talk about it, Im taking it off next week.
ok my first recording as evil, am i allowed to put it up b4 submitting it to the online audition ppl ???
sure, but putting it online does not mean officially submitting
yeah i no that anywayz how do i put it on here for u guys ???
why dont you submit it and ask us to put it online :P
cos i dont know if it sounds good ;D, how many takes can i submit of my normal voice ???
you need to put it available online then, you cant upload it directly here at the forums :(
Racx, upload it to the same place you uploaded your avatar to. :)
oh who cares ill send in the third take of my normal voice on evil ;B
ok ill upload it there as quickly as possible ;D
i have to put it on Geocities cos the one with my avatar is full :-\
Well i cant get it to upload so ill just send it in and when you get it you can put it up on the site ur selves ;D
ill start on exaggerating my voice in a minute but i just had to get normal voice out of the way first :-\
yay ;D

hahahah.... I liked the second one ; ) ...nice accent!!
Judging by most of these, I hope I wasn't overacting. Because I, you know, acted (or at least attempted to).
The first one i had been rehearsing for a few weeks ;D, the second one was for fun and it took me half an hour to get it right :D
EDIT- The first one for comedy sounds cwappy :-\
Not bad racx, though you might want to try backing up a bit from the mic and speaking louder. ;) It sounds like you are whispering mostly. :-\
I kinda was whispering cos every1 was in bed :-\, i have a choice either do it when every1 is up and you can hear alotta background noise, or whisper :-\, if i get a part in it then ill get the computer setup in my room ;B

Jason, it sounds so good!! We now know how you're going to record from now on! (How many more strange looks are you going to get from your family? lol)
Cat
Nice aud, Racx! You sound like one of those narrators for one of them history war documentaries, you know like:
"And so, the British went on to triumph over *insert country here* and that's the end of that".
I'm not really that patriotic, lol. But twas good! I just told my mum that I was auditioning for a game and so she couldn't come in here :P
Nice racx! :D Much better. :)
Thankyou to every1 for the support ;D
Your encouragement has made me decide to record another voice XD, although i dont know which one to record for, and which accent to use ;D
racx, yes, you sound great! You could do theatre! ;-D
Well, between forcing a half-whisper and screeching like a madwoman, I think I've killed my voice for today!! I still have to submit something in my regular speaking voice though. ;]
normal voice is easy ;B
I'm sure it is...unless you've killed your voice! :P

Hey people, I'm Zanthia's brother, just trying to get into the forums, never been much of a message board kinda guy. My auditions were somewhere on page 3-5 or something. :o
[shadow=brown, down]Welcome to the forum, Lonred!! ;D[/shadow]

Your auditions sounded great too ;)
Don't worry - I wasn't much of a forum person myself before I got here, and now I'm hooked :-[

Thanks everyone, my sister made the avatar but it's cut off for some reason, sooo. :-X
Just wondering ;D, are the forums updated on Saturday or Sunday ???
forums updates? what updates?
Earlier in one of the threads here ;), it said when the forum is going to be updated it is usually updated on a _______ XD, but i cant remember if it was Saturday or Sunday :-\
Welcome Lonred!!!
Your avatar is AWESOME. Zanthia!! Wherever you may be - may I snag your avatar for my LJ?? It's awesome!!

I don't think we ever said anything like that. We do site updates every Sunday and major updates every month. If you meant the Weekly Poll, then those are done every Sunday. Other forum updates aren't done on a specific day, they're done all the time. :P
My sisters home made avatars are linked to somewhere on the front page of her LJ, her account is Mangosama, her others are just as good as this. :D
Kewl! :D Where's her live journal?
Oh, and welcome!! :D

well i remembered something about updates then ;D, i wasnt sure if it was for polls or not :-\
do you guys even read the newsletter!? :P
I said, we have weekly updates as in art of the week, poll of the week and miscelaneous (if there are), and monthly updates... the surprises so far ;P which there are more to come, contest, features etc ;P
READ THE NEWSLETTER DAMNIT :P
I get the newsletters sent to my email inbox ;D, but the most recent one wouldnt load so i didnt worry about it XD
you can always read the newsletter (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/newsletter/) online, if it didn't load...
Wows, how many people have LiveJournals, exactly? I know I have one, and a couple others who names I don't know on there or else I'd add them if they wanted to hear my whinings and obsessings, but that's about it.

I have an online journal :D
I've thought about having an online journal, but then I realized I already babble enough in all the forums I post in anyway... no sense in torturing the Net in general. :P
BTW, how is the online audition stuff going?
Peace & Luv, Liz
no absolutly freaking clue... erm, I mean, really really good :D
seriously, I've been kind of busy and I have no idea myself hahaha Im going to have to ask :P and get back to you later on that ;P
Hee, at least you're (semi) honest! :D
It's no biggie... a couple of my friends have been asking me, so I thought I'd throw the question out there. :)
Peace & Luv, Liz
I dont need an online journal because of the same reason as Jeysie ;B
BTW dont work too much Say ;D
wtf insane, so much to do that we may update tomorrow, its all done but to put together wtf :P
Im so tired whoever who bitches will get his/hear head bit off courtesy of the department director, that means MEH... :P so watch out... rawr... ;-D
I want the updates now ;D
Dont encourage her B'rrr >:(
If we are family then is she my sister or aunty or what ???
uhhmmm... you asking me? ....I think you should ask Say, she adopted you ; ) ....but my best guess is that she's your sister...
Say are you my sister ??? or my aunty ???
Please tell me ;D
*gives Cat some honey-flavored popcorn*
<whisper>we should be really quiet here, cuz we are off-topic and before you know it we are beeing moved... so it might be a good idea to post some audition related posts now and then ; )</whisper>
Have you gone into the auditions B'rrr ???
hmmm.... yes, quite a long time ago... one recording wasn't very good though, lol, I promised to post another one, but haven't done it yet ; )
*eats some popcorn*
Come on, B'rrr, it's not fair that we all had our auditions posted...please ;)
(to smiley-creator: we need a smiley that flutters it's eyes...I was looking for one where I put my smiley on this thread, and there wasn't one! *sniff*)
Cat
all of mine were or me kinda whispering so i sent another one in and had it posted ;B
Cat, mine (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=34;action=display;threadid=809;start=120#msg21570) have been posted already. but one aud. was a bit disorted, and I meant to post that part again, but I've been bit busy lately to do that ; /
oh i remember yours now ;D, silly me :-\, forgetting about yours ;B
lol, yeahh... <sigh> ; (
Ok, I apologize, B'rrr...there's so many posted, we forget who posted what! Still sounds great!
Cat

Sorry i think Say just took over me ;) :suffer:
.....speaking of Say:
*casts a spell that fix Say's mic*
*waiting for say to submit her auditions ; )*
Did she ever wish that her mic would work ???
hmmm.... can't say she did ; / ...so no MG powers until she speaks that wish out loud ; )
She did i was reading her mind ;D, or does she have to say it ???
I think the correct procedure is that you have to rub your lamp and then say to you "I wish....." and utter your wish ; ) ...but perhaps you are whole other kind of MG.
do what you suits best ; )
*grants Says wish and makes her mic work ;B
Well i did it ;D
lol, that's nice of you Racx ; )

Why not? the game wouldn't be prefect without your secsay voice in it :S Unless you've already been casted and you're not telling us ;-D
you see, we dont play favoritism here (darnit, lol) but hahaha, but thats good, that means even though Im Cesar's friend and Mike's friend and IM A FREAKING DIRECTOR... its a fair play, if I want to participate I have to actually go though the same rules that I apply to everyone, that shows that we operate as a serious group anyways, thats just great... bad for me hhaha but good overall anyways ;-D
Anyhow, no, I havent been casted for voice cuz I havent submited officialy, but I really can't compromise if I cant make that noise go away, I cant give out the recording quality so :( I guess Im out :(

So...when do we find out what we've been cast for? LOL...let's see, I've been cast as......Rosella? Nope, not that good...Cassima...nope, too big a part, I'm sure...Valanice...no, not an old enough voice...poor woman...Yeah, that's probably me!
Seriously, that was just speculating. No, to all those who ask, I have not received any information regarding how I was cast!

Anyone who has the ability to do so can certainly post my voice, if anyone's heard it by now.

both the microphone noise, and the crashing-every-5-minutes problems! XD
lol, that would be a nice solution ; )
hahaha... and thnx for your audition Fat Emu, I can't listen to it now but I surely will when I get home!!
If Says voice isnt in it then that will suck :-\
It's more distorted than I remembered... ah well. It was a large file size, and I was still learning how to use the software at the time. I could certainly do better now...

EMUUU EMMUUUU I liked your audition a lot :P <3
It's going to be a very long time before anyone from the online auditions is cast. I'm still sending the scripts out to those who were cast from the live auditions. I haven't had the time to listen to most of the online auditions.
I have liked very much what I have heard, but for many of you, I need you all to take a good look at your microphones. There is a lot of buzzing and a lot of background noise. I can get a lot of it out, but some of it is very bad.
As I listen to more, I will contact those people individually that I would like to cast but cannot till the microphone is upgraded. Do not worry, for those I wish to cast with a bad mic, we'll figure something out. I've already said I want to try and get as many people into this game as possible :D

Hi there, everyone. I originally found out about this project at Tierra Entertainment and I mainly registered just to ask a couple of questions about the online auditions, so here they are:
1. I've been sidelined for a while with real-life work, so I haven't been able to get my auditions in just yet. Do I still have enough time to submit my auditions?
2. I had a go at the Evil male part and as I was reciting and recording it, some of the phrases didn't seem to sound right, so I adlibbed slightly by adding in a word or two to make it flow a little better. The punctuation had me second guessing how to act out certain parts as well. My question is this: Is it ok to deviate -slightly- (as in one word or two) from the original text or are you fairly strict as to reciting and acting out the auditions word for word?
3. As I mentioned before, I had a go with the evil audition, but I accidentally recorded it at 22050Hz instead of 44100Hz. Should I retry it again at a 44100Hz sampling rate or send in the 22050Hz version as it is? It's just that I reckon I did a fairly ok job with my last take at 22050Hz (no one else in the house, so I could let rip into the mike without holding back) and I find need to try again a couple of times to get a repeat performance at 44100Hz.
I might have a go with the comic and heroic auditions, but I feel my evil audition will be the best one.
welcome spyshark!! ....hope we can hear your auditions ; )
That's exactly the kind of part I wanted, so I'm happy. :)
Peace & Luv, Liz

Thanks everyone! And thanks for answering my questions, Yonkey! ;D As for publicly sharing my future auditions, that won't be a problem (might as well, seeing as quite a few of you have already put yours up for everyone to listen to).
No problem, Skyshark! ;D Just post here once you've submitted them so that I don't forget! ;-D

I think ideally, if I were to get a part, it would be one that isn't all that huge (that's just dreaming) but does affect the story, despite not being a very large part of it. The Ferryman in KQ6, for example.
Of course, probably the largest role available to someone of my years is but a small and unimportant part.
Yes, "There are no small parts, only small actors" ;D
hobbits? what are hobbits?

Hi & welcome Skyshark and TwilightChick18!! :D
And no, I don't think online auditions have been cast yet at all. Mike's not even gotten through recording the live auditions people, which I think he is going to be getting to doing this month (IIRC), and online auds are going to be taken care of after that. So yeah, they're still open.
I'm looking forward to getting to go to NYC again to record my own stuff, actually!

There is a group working on a new unofficial Quest for Glory-style game (not a remake): www.hero6.com
I know there's still time before the online auditions casting is done, but how are the auditions going besides that? did the male/female ratio get any better? ;)
Yup, a lot better! It's 30:11 !!! Which means 26.8% of the auditioners are female! :lovegoggles:
hmmm... how many roles are there? ...ie. for male i mean
:suffer:
Well, you can always increase your odds of getting a part by submitting more entries. :) We even said that everyone is free to submit as many submissions as they want, and as many variations as they want. :)
hmmmm.... I think the same way! ; ) hahaha.... but i'm not rally fond of my previous submittions so i'm tempted to do one more ; /
Yonkey, that's the point...that's all I can do, so I've already done it! lol...Oh my gosh! look at the time...gotta run or I'll be late for work! *panic*

Hehe ok, here's Julian's Female Comic (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/juliankantor_female3_1.mp3) XD
Hmm that's not such a bad idea, Storm! ;D
In the extra comments box I just type "I give permission for my auditions to be posted on the KQIX Forum" ;B
But not all auditioners are forum members who know they can give their permission to that. You could add in the auditions instructions that people can add a "let me be heard on the forum" comment, but using a checkbox would be easier for the auditioners, and we do want as many of them to take that option ;)

Yay they all rock Kimmie !!!, please dont make anymore though cos if you do i will never get a part ;) :suffer:
Hey, that's my line! I'm the one who did the same parts as her... and she was much better at them ;)
oh fair enuff, well thats good news, lol :suffer:
Well i hope i get a part :D
lol so do i *fingers crossed*
I dont think i will get a big part though if i do get a part that is ;)
aw im sure u will. :)
I dont really mind, because atleast i tried out for a part...which is better than saying what if...what if??
I would rather have a smallish part anywayz ;D
hehe, listening to ur voice thruout the game ;P
Dont be a meanieh to your slave Kimmie ;P :suffer:
Ok...just submitted one more female comic...you can post it if you want...I just about killed my throat doing it b/c I was REALLY tightening up my vocal folds (which my professors will have a stroke if they knew that--since we do talk about vocal fold abuse and how to prevent it!)...but anyway...yeah, that's about it, I guess! Headed off to class now!
Cat
i should do another one !!!
I STILL haven't done mine yet! Oh well after this hellish nasty week I'll have alot more free time to get on with it, maybe even this weekend (heh deja vu anyone?)
Alex, am I going to have to stay on your case about this? I'll give you until Saturday evening (after your performance on Friday) to get it done before I start hounding you! ;D
Cat
Every1 should have auditioned atleast once by now >:(, hurry up i wanna see auditions from every1 ;B
....don't you mean hear?? :suffer: ; )
Alex, everytime I talk to you, you mention that you havnt done your audition...just do it ;D and then send it to me...its only fair that I help u and we all wanna hear u ;D
But Kimmie...he shouldn't send it to you first! He promised me a couple samples of him speaking (one in his Brummie accent and the other in a softened version of it) so I could get my daily dose of British accents! So if anything, he should send it to me first...right Alex? :P
Cat
:'( i dont want a fight...i just want to help lol ;D
i only said it coz he made me send mine to him, its kinda like PAYBACK!! :suffer:
Who said anything about fighting?? lol! *huggles* I'm sorry...didn't mean for it to be taken that way! Between the two of us, I think we'll be able to convince him! *plotting look*
Cat
;D hehehe, shhh he shouldnt find out that we are plotting
(and i know it wasnt meant in a nasty way cat :)) *huggle*
*convince him* being the nicer approach as supposed to torcher... XB
I knew you'd finally see it my way! ;P
Cat
Here's Cat's! Sorry I couldn't post it sooner, the site was down for me when you first submitted it. ;D
Female Comic (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/CatherineTyson_Female-comic3.mp3)
Interesting background noises! ;-D
I didn't remember there being background noises...oh well...sorry (not even sure there are any...maybe I don't have it up loud enough!)
Cat
lmao :suffer:, thats great cat!

You can say hear but i dont care if i hear them ;), i just wanna see the files be sent in ;P
Ok...well, I just sent one in of a HORRIBLE southern accent...kinda hard to do when you've lived in the South your whole life but you ain't go no Southern accent! Anyway, put up if you want! And Yonkey, I'm sure you're laughing your head off!
Cat
Hahahah nice! My favourite part is "Last night, there was a storm out there. :-\ Today, the sun is shinin' again! ;-D"
Female Heroic (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/CatherineTyson_Female-heroic2.mp3)
;D
Yeee ha!!! I luv "i wish TOO" ...the intonation is great cat ;D
Glad ya'll like! Just so you know, the drawl isn't slow enough, but I have to work on that! Don't worry, I'm not going to send in another one almost identical but longer! But again, that's about my best impression! *goes to practice her Southern accent*
Cat
Lovely Cat XD, although i wouldnt know if you stuffed up the Southern accent cos i have never heard one b4 ;B
BTW i am not sending anymore in :P
I just want to announce that the Online Auditions will be continuing for another month, due to the massive feedback we've been getting from them! XD
Those of you who still haven't submitted something, now's the time! May might be the last month for them... :o So, buy a mic, kick out annoying noisy family members and record your audition now! ;P
QuoteSo, buy a mic, kick out annoying noisy family members
omg are u psychic, they were my problems at first lol ;P[/glow]
as in the words of the fresh prince..."parents just dont understand"
:suffer: love it
Nah... it'd be more like... he meets up with Graham, and starts sobbing...
"You! You and your blasted Daventrian pronunciation! For years, I've suffered with people calling me "Gram" because you Daventry people don't know how to say names properly! It's "Gra-ham!" Do you hear me?! "GRA-HAM!" (breaks down sobbing)"
OK, Questie's going to kill me now. Seriously, I want a Questie audition! (And an Alex audition!)
Peace & Luv, Liz
HAHAHAH! Yeah, Q should definintely add some stuff like that to his audition! !!! He's taking drama too! 8)
I finally did it! I uploaded four audition files! :)
I recored them something like four weeks ago and hadn't gotten around to cleaning them up and mixing them down :P
WOO! :D
So, am I allowed to link em here? ;P
Go nuts... 8)
Im glad you have auditioned etgadsby ;D, cant wait to hear them ;)
There were a few issues with the volume being too low. Eric and I were trying to fix em. So, I finally managed to get em to be loud enough! Check em out:
Male 1 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/ericgadsby_male1.mp3)

Evil Laugh (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/ericgadsby_male3_file2.mp3) :suffer:
Thanks! I have to admit I was only using my laptop's internal mic... :(
I had a professional mic I borrowed from somebody that was worse... do you believe that? :o
Great auditions, etgadsby! ;D
Especially the comic male part (lmao) - your additions were priceless :suffer:
Ok, it turns out that the volume problem I was having last night with Eric's files were my fault and not the files themselves. ;P
I just re-uploaded his originals. :)
omg the hero one is so you!!! and i <3 that evil laugh!! :suffer:
Thanks folks! I appreciate all your kind feed back! ;D
yay, great aud!!
lol, and to all those who haven't auditioned yet.... please do *puppy eyes* ; )
Excellent Auditions etgadsby :D
I've decided to try my hand at the audition thing; just submitted my entries - if you'd like, feel free to put them up here and humiliate me publicly... :D
I'm Nathan Benner, Colorado native... I look forward to getting to know a few people around here. I love and miss adventure gaming very much and am in full support of this project and many others like it.
Welcome Tolin!! :D
Glad you tried out, I'm sure Mike can find a place for you. ;)
Welcome to our forums Tolin! :D
pleased to know you support the project and look foward for it, we hope you stick around and enjoy the forums :)
Hey Nathan/Tolin...Welcome ;D
Welcome Nathan!! hope you will enjoy these forums!! ; )
I'm looking forward hearing your voice in the game.... i think ; ) ...thanx for your willingness to make them public... and you won't be humiliated... at least not more then the rest of us ; )
Heh.... that's definately good to know. I just hope I can give a little back to the adventure gaming community, when the genre has given -me- so many fun and good memories in the past.
Tolin [N. Benner]
Tolin it’s great that you want to give back. It’s even nicer there you have chosen to join us here at the KQ9 forums; welcome!
We very much appreciate the audition! If you have any other artistic, web, or programming talents you should check out the open positions in our team at http://www.tsl-game.com/join/positions/.
I make no guarantee there’ll be a good match there, but check them out and see! Have fun; hope you enjoy your stay, if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Welcome Tolin to the KQ9 forum !!!
Please enjoy your time here and stick around ;)
Welcome to the forum, Tolin!! ;D
I'm just checking in, been busy with exams. Neat stuff everyone, I also submitted some more auditions.
Heh... thank you everyone.
I looked over the positions, etgadsby - I may be able to help with one or two of those after the summer - I'm taking a 3D animation class, a Flash class, another animation [hand animation using a program called ToonBoom] class and a beginning level drawing class [to get the basics back in my head, since I've lost a lot of it]
It's going to be hectic, but it will be fun. :)

which department are you interested in?
3d and sketching its obviously art, flash is my department, anyhow, dont forget you need to apply in case you are interested with the submit forms available for each position :)
The one that really sticks out to me the most would be the interface artist position - I recently completed a Photoshop class, though I'd already taught myself most of it...
However, I was able to work with Flash a little bit on a sub-sub contract with my sister [she was the subcontractor, but was running out of time - I logged about 30+ hours working with/learning flash] and this summer is my first formal Flash course... I'm rudimentary at best in it...
Now, if I could draw REALISTICALLY, I would -love- to help with background artistry... but alas, I'm not all that great at backgrounds... my handdrawn style emulates the Japanese Manga styles, and I've only focused around people for so long that I can't really do -real- people and places at all any more...
it sucks... Anyway, if you'd like to see a site I did for one of the local political candidates hit http://www.denverunited.com - this was before the big flash project, so I didn't do the flash opener. I'll try to put up some of my CG work on a site for all of you to mock... er, look at in amazement... heh
Nate
I will keep this in mind and make a note of it - I'd love to help, but time constraints for the upcoming semester are going to kill most any immediate possibility at my approaching the project in any official capacity - a position which, unfortunately, I must stand by presently. My career and studies have to come first.
I'm certain I'll have enough time to record some voices though, if I'm needed for that.
Thanks, Say!
you're welcome!
that's why I told you why communication is so important, my assistant and myself are college students as well (he still is I just graduated a week ago) so it is hard to keep both responsabilities, how hard it is to be on finals and thesis, and yet to do updates around here, keep it all up, do the newsletter, the flash games, everything, it is certainly worthy cuz I love this team and this project and that is certainly where my heart is, yet I do have a life outside it.
And Im looking foward for your audition!! :D
Tolin,
Thank you for all your enthusiasm! Perhaps the joining our team isn't the right fit for you at this moment, in the future if you want to apply you've got all the information you'll need (thank you Say for all the good info). That doesn't mean there aren't great things you can do to take part.
We take fan input (from this forum mostly) very seriously. Check out our weekly polls, contests, and other features. These things are for your enjoyment and let us stay in touch with the folks who we're making the game for; loyal "King's Quest" fans!
Hope to see you around, if you have any questions just ask! ;D ;D ;D :)

Sadie, welcome... gotta love the pieces :) You too, Alex! [lest I be accused of forgetting someone]
Heh, just submitted three more pieces - trying my hand at the french Comedy and Evil... and a third as well that's not quite on the list in its entirity...
That's just to keep you on the edge of your seats, is it working yet? :)
Heh, just kidding! Good job everyone!
I love the female comic, Sadie! Sounds great! ;D
Tolin! I love your avatar! :D
Heh... Thanks, Say - I did that the other day in about 45 minutes or so... I'm getting better at what I do. :)
Tolin
OMG, you drew your avatar?! Sweet! (turns green and gets envious of Tolin)
Peace & Luv, Liz
:o :o ..yeah, i wish i could draw that good ...o wait!! ...hahaha just a subtle difference ; )
nice avatar though ;-D
Well, I didn't draw it exactly - I used Adobe Illustrator and went over a picture of myself creating outlines. From there, I continued on to color myself in, and from -there- I added necessary shading. I'm going into Print Layout/Graphic Design, and I'm trying to develop my style... My actual hand artistry is still quite mediocre in comparison to what I can do on the computer... maybe I'll give a sample of that someday... I should probably contribute some of my stuff to the art thread on the boards, eh? :) Thanks for the compliments; it means a lot when an artist hears of his/her work being enjoyed.
for another piece I did recently, check here:

and look at the CelShading test...

These auditions are great ;D, looks like i might have to go do some more auditions of my own ;)
How come? ???
perhaps he has a great voice and can do 132 accents so he could audition 198412 times... other then that, i don't know :S ; )

I know a guy that could easily get in the game(going thru the auditions). Unfortunately he doesn't want to.
Why on earth would someone NOT want to audition? :o (Q, that goes for you as well) :P
If he's really that good, maybe you should take upon yourself to nag him into auditioning ;)
Hello, I just wanted to say hi to you all. I am new to the forums and I am looking forward to KQ9. It sounds like it's going to be an incredible game.
So Jollo, does this mean you're gonna be trying out? !!!
Hi Yonkey
Actually I already auditioned yesterday!
Oh, nice! Heh, as you can tell I haven't been listening to many since the past few days have been pretty hectic.
So, would you like us to post 'em here? :D
Post my audion pieces here? I didn't know we could do that. I got emails telling me that my auditions were received. I was going to send some more maybe, but I thought the auditions were finishing soon.
You can't, but I can. ;P
And you have until the end of May to submit more if you like! ;D
The end of May....we'll see. I am actor and I work in DC. I am not used to a voice only audition, but it was fun.
Whoops! I meant to say I am an actor. Don't you just hate misspellings?
lol, I didn't even notice you made a mistake! ;P By the way, you can modify your own posts (i.e. if you make a mistake somewhere) by clicking on modify. :)
And... you never said if we could link to your auditions yet or not! ;P
Cool! Now I know that I can modify my posts. Thanks Yonkey! Does anyone else have their auditions posted? This may sound paranoid, but I'd perfer you didn't post my selections until after the voices have been cast. I'd rather just the staff hear them.
Hello Kimmi.
you will really enjoy it here :) hope to see lots of posts!
I'm sure I will enjoy it here. You all seem like very cool people.
yeh we are 8)
lol! im sure u will fit right in ;D
altho u gotta do something first...before u become a member...
u gotta post a pic of urself in one of the ugly mug thread, otherwise u wont be accepted...im sorry but those are the rules ;B
Gee, there are so many pics of me...I wouldn't know which one to post... ;B

Cat
[size=10]Welcome to the forum, Jollo!! ;D[/size]
You really should let Yonkey post your auditions! ;)
Most of the posters who auditioned have their auditions posted on this thread (except for me, I'm too much of a chickenshit :P).
Thanks for the welcome Storm! Yeah, I saw that people had their auditions posted and they sounded cool. I guess I am just supersticious about auditioning. It sure was fun though.
Pretty much! If you're in, Mike will e-mail you with the lines for the part to record. Just remember, you have just over a week left to audition! :)
Whew! Only a week left? I'm glad I got my audtition sent in time. I almost missed it.
Hey, I just have a few questions for Mike or anyone else who can answer them. I was wondering if Mike has started looking through the auditions yet, or if he is waiting until the auditioning process is over until he reviews all the auditions. Also, how long after the auditions are over can we expect to know if we've been casted, what role, etc?
I don't expect anything.... so i can't get disappointed ; )
That is a good attitude. Don't expect anything and you won't be dissapointed. Being a voice in a KQ game would be fun and I'm sure most people who auditioned are excited.
I've adopted that attitude for almost everything in life. XD It makes little things more enjoyable, big things really awesome and disappointments/failures not seem so horrible, though they do still sting. :-\
Anyway, I'm really excited too because I still don't even know who's playing who! 8)
Yeah Yonkey. Sometimes no matter what you tell yourself to prepare for bad news, it still is dissapointing if you don't get what you want.
I wasn't expecting to be a voice actor at all....in fact I have the same attitude :). I just wanted to know an estimate of around what time we'd know IF we made it in.
The auditions are ending next week. I guess the 31st is the last day? I guess we'll find out soon after the auditions are over.
It's pretty hard to estimate that because as soon as the Online Auditions are closed, Mike would have to:
- review all auditions
- decide who he wants to hear more from
- decide who would be perfect for a part
- decide who sounds great but needs to buy a newer mic
- decide which lines/parts should be said by that person (since people may get more than one role)
Considering Mike's still doing this for the live auditions that were held in NYC back in January, and all the other work he's doing in the Art team, it may take a while before you hear a response.
Sounds like he's a busy guy. I guess it'll be a while. It makes sense. You all have a lot of work to do and it sounds as though Mike has a lot of auditions to go through.
Yup! There are 169 submissions so far! !!!
Whoa! 169 online audition submissions? Gee and I was going to send some more...
Mike has to listen the same 6 speeches 169 times. He must be a patient man. ;D
Hee. I wasn't expecting anything at all when I went to audition... I only auditioned because I wanted to have some fun, and because I was already there for Harrison's audition anyway. And I got a part! So you see, you may luck out after all! :D
Out of curiousity, is that 169 files, or 169 different people submitting? I know many people submitted more than one file.
As for listening to all the same speeches... I can only imagine that it's akin to being a judge at a Compulsories round in a gymnastics competition. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
Yeah, I guess I'm not expecting a part either. I did keep putting it off. I am glad I FINALLY sent in my online audition and I'm glad I didn't let the deadline come and go.
I had fun recording my auditions too. I only sent in 3. I was going to record some more with some addtional accents, but I'll probably stick with those 3.
Quote from: Jeysie on May 23, 2004, 05:55:59 PM

169 files. I think around 57 people auditioned. :D I know my sister said she wants to try out this week, so hopefully the number will increase before the end of May!
I think it is great that so many ppl auditioned!! ; ) ...btw how many roles are there again??
I didn't have fun recording my auditions... of course, it's hard to have fun when all the while you're thinking "I suck at this so much it hurts" :P
What kept me going was the encouragement I got from my brother. He said (and I quote & translate) "Why would they take YOU? they must have thousands of people auditioning, all of which have better accents than YOU!" :P
Wow, your brother sucks, Storm. Pop him one for me. ;)
At any rate... I have no accent at all, so you automatically have a better accent than I. 8)
Peace & Luv, Liz
Gee Storm, I'd like see your brother audition. I'll bet you'd get cast over him easy ;D It's easy to put someone down when they are not trying themselves.
In my auditions I tried with and without funny accents. I ended up sending them both.
QuoteWow, your brother sucks, Storm. Pop him one for me.

I have a few questions, that I'd like to be answerd before the auditions are over. Can "name" be your forum name?
Nope, name must be your full real name.
Quote from: Louisiana Night on May 24, 2004, 09:00:44 PM
How specific does "Location" have to be, is nation enough?
Yes, country and city is fine. If you want to be more specific it's up to you. ;D
Quote from: Louisiana Night on May 24, 2004, 09:00:44 PM
All you have to do is ask, if you want your recordings on the forum(I'm not saying I do)?
Correct, if you would like your auditions to be made public, you must explicitly request it in this thread.
Quote from: Louisiana Night on May 24, 2004, 09:00:44 PM
Are you allowed to edit your recording? I had to increase the volume on mine, and I know another person that wants to add special effects to theirs.
No. You are unable to overwrite files, so when you submit something, it is considered a submission. For this reason, make sure you are completely satisfied with your audition before submitting. You are free to submit as many submissions as you like.
As for special effects, it is not recommended because we would rather hear what
you can do with your own voice, rather than what your
computer can do with it. However, as long as you submit at least one audition with your normal voice, you are permitted to experiment with others (within reason, of course XD).
Quote from: Louisiana Night on May 24, 2004, 09:00:44 PM
One more thing, that guy I mentioned, I think he took the "You do not have to stick with only one monologue." too seriously(you have been warned).
!!!
Quote from: Louisiana Night on May 24, 2004, 09:00:44 PM
P.S. I wish you had a male_serious option, I have trouble speaking any other way.
Same with me, but these are the audition sides. You can read the female serious part as a male serious. Also, you can read any part however you like. If you would rather read the Comic ones as serious, go right ahead! :)
I was going to try and get some friends of mine to audition as well. Some of them love games, but not many have played the King's Quest games. The audition was still fun and maybe they'll give it a shot.
idd, there is no need to be a KQ fan to audition, hope they will audition ; )
Says the voice over director -
Please audition. And audition soon. While I don't have a specific end date to the online auditions, I can tell you that I am nearing completion on what was needed for the live auditions, so I will be focusing on the online auditions very shortly. I would say that you guys have three more weeks before I start casting from the online auditions.
So get those submissions in! And have lots of fun!
*jumps up and down happily* I would scream for joy...but as I've said elsewhere, I have absolutely no voice right now...not even a little smigin! Good thing I already have my auditions in!

I'd like to see him audition too. I actually asked him, but he just went "pfffff" and went back to playing Grand Theft Auto 2 :P

How specific does "Location" have to be, is nation enough?
Yes, country and city is fine. If you want to be more specific it's up to you. ;D
I didn't write down my city when I submitted the auditions :o
Does that mean I'll be disqualified?? :S
Storm I don't anticipate you would be disqualified for simply forgetting to fill out that part of the form. I'll check and let you know. Thanks for asking! :)
Hahaha, of course not. The location is just for research purposes so that we have a general idea of where the auditioners are in the world. ;D
We don't care about specific address details, which is why it's vaguely labelled "Location" rather than Mailing Address or something. ;P
Well, it probably doesn't matter that much. But I do suggest Normalizing the volume before submitting (which will either raise the volume if too low, or lower if too high). :)
Ok, I finally submitted my 4 auditions (1 heroic, 1 comic and 2 evil) just a few minutes ago. Sorry it took a while, but I've been busy finishing off my final semester of university studies, so that took priority over the recordings. Anyway, they're in now. ;B
yay!! thnx!!
would you mind if Neil post/link them on this thread so we all can hear them (and don't have to wait till kq9 ; )
I don't mind. I gave permission earlier in the thread, anyway. It's all good. ;D
*can't wait to hear more auditions*
Is anyone else going to contribute...or contribute more for us to hear?

Thanks Koko! ;D

Is it alright if I submit sometime during June 5th-June 8th? (My sis wants me to wait until she gets home to start auditioning...) If so, thanks!

I'm not on the team so I can't say anything official, BUT the auditions were supposed to be over at the end of last month, and then Mike the voice-over director said:
Quote from: mfortunato on May 25, 2004, 10:08:22 AM
Says the voice over director -
Please audition. And audition soon. While I don't have a specific end date to the online auditions, I can tell you that I am nearing completion on what was needed for the live auditions, so I will be focusing on the online auditions very shortly. I would say that you guys have three more weeks before I start casting from the online auditions.
So get those submissions in! And have lots of fun!
So according to my calculation you have until the 15th of this month to submit your audition 8)
But if you don't want to risk it, you could submit your auditions now and submit some more once your sister gets home... IIRC there's no limit on how many audition you can send :)
It is alright Mage, I'm keeping the online auditions on for a bit more
welcome darkmage!! hope you will like these forums and it is good to know that you still can audition, good luck!! ;-D
Welcome Darkmage136! I'm glad you've found your way to our "little" forum. I hope you'll stay and post often. if you have any questions just ask!
Disqualified? Anything you submit is considered an audition. It will only be disqualified if the Voice Director decides so.
However, if you would like to resubmit certain samples then do so now (of course, rename the file by putting File2 in there or something).
If you want, consider this your one week's notice. 8)
Well Louisiana Night, you may as well enter as many times as you want, its not like they will count against you!
kwel, so can we hear them all?? ; )

Don't worry, you're not disqualified. As long as you provided a valid e-mail address, the auditions will still be considered. :)
Then just ignore one set, sorry about sending the extra ones. I think Ellone resent hers as well, for the same reason, but I'm not sure.
my voices suck :-[ O well... I tried, and don't mind Male2_File3 (I was bored!) ;B I may send more later if I get a good voice *runs to Walmart*

Welcome to the forum, rune800!! ;D
Welcome rune800 !!!
We are glad to have you at the KQIX Forum :D, hope to see you posting often ;D
Thank you all :) I appreciate it...I've been following this for a while but never posted. I also submitted some bear names, but they weren't picked. Oh well. The Father Bear for some reason reminded me of Al Bundy. lol
Anyways, thanx. Now its off to work I go.
Al Bundy! rune800, I like your style! I hope we see you around here often!
Well, I'm out(of the auditions).
Good luck to everyone else.
lol why are you out?!
Other than his microphone, Knight's auditions were great. If the average person auditioning is as good as he is, I'm out.
Well, at least I fixed my microphone problem.
I just sent mine in, because I though I should participate. I'm not expecting(or even hoping) for a part in the game.
Aw shucks, thanks for the kind words, folks. I managed to d/l all of them, I think, and from what I've heard, there's some amazing voice actors among us. So don't sell yourselves short! ;D Also LN, I look forward to Neil getting around to posting yours. I'm glad to see that there's still a fairly steady stream of submissions coming in too. :) Keep up the great work!

How you been man?
You guys get the online auditions working and online? I couldnt find a link to it :/

LN...gonna torture us and not let us hear you're auditions? But I'm sure they sound GREAT! Most of us here had to be pursuaded to have our auditions posted. AND I think that each of us feel like ours is the worst...so you're in the same boat as us! :P

Nah i mean mine are the worst out of all ;D
Well, from the stories I've heard, I can't lay claim to having the worst NYC audition. I nominate myself for second-worst, though. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
No, mine are. And I'm in a better position to judge that than you since I actually heard yours, while you can only guess how bad my auditions are ;P
Well i havent heard your audition Storm so mine are the worst until atleast one other person hears yours :P
Whee! I just registered and auditioned. I hope I'm not too late or something. :-[
It's good that people are open about these sorts of auditions in the fangame community. I remember a few years ago nobody was considering voices due to size and the fact it would be too complicated -- I guess I didn't look anymore into it until I moved and needed to find my copies of QfG/KQ ;_; I'm involved in more of the anime voice over community and have been for a while. It's fun at times, but there are times where I'd rather cast off the whole "*random confused anime gasp*" and do something a bit more dramatic. :D
Anyway, good luck to everybody! *girly hugs everyone* XD

The recordings Yonkey just posted, I thought were a bit on the "American Accent" side.... Whereas yours is much more nuetural, very good! Almost exaclty how I imagined that scene to sound, accept it should be maybe slightly slower and more of a pause between sentances... ;)

P.S. We can add soundFX?
You can, but it's not advised since we care more about what
you can do with your voice, rather than what your computer can do. ;P
Yonkey, thank you!! :E
Louisiana, it's a very bad idea to add SFX to an audition that distort your voice :-\ I just added it afterwards to play around. I remember doing a Quest for Glory series as a radio play about 5 years ago and tried achieving this effect in CoolEdit97 or something, and was never able to. >_< Now I have CoolEditPro 2.1 ... it's quite different ;_;
Edit: Er, I know *of* it :) I read up in it, and I'm thinking of entering. I just don't exactly have much to dress up in :D Why do you ask?
I'm working on it. I can't get DSL or Cable, but I'm researching HAM radio(requires a license). as an option.
Nakkita, I was just mentioning it, because you recently joined(I've only been here a month, and others explained things to me).
ok, got it..thank you :) I was using a stripped down version of winamp and that's why it wouldn't play (I have no idea where it came from but it was this tiny little thing that looked like a retro-toaster).
Anyways, I got it and was able to hear everyone...I really enjoyed them :) I had a lot of fun with mine...everyone says I have a slight southern accent but I can't hear it for the life of me (ok I exaggeratted it on the male one...)
I did notice something though...for me for some reason the male parts seemed more natural when I was reading them over than the female...the female seemed more difficult for some reason. Maybe its just the way my mind works but did a man write all the parts? (just wondering)
Sorry about the scratchiness on mine btw :) This is the first time I've played around with anything like this.

;) Ask Cesar.... Actually, he will probably say that the girl helping him wrote it... lol.
Well, when I get back to my main computer, I'll be sure to download them all and have a listen. Even you, LN. ;P (Congrats on finally letting Neil post 'em, by the way...) As for myself, I'm going to be submitting three more sometime this evening. I'm glad a few of you liked them, but as Randy Jackson from 'American Idol' would say, "I just wasn't feelin' it, dawg." :) Keep on submitting, folks! ;D
Hmm let's see...
I originally wrote all of the male parts. I also wrote the female heroic and the female comic. The female serious was written by one of our assistant writers a while ago (female), and they were ALL revised by both me and my co-writer (female) over and over again.
However, I must say that these parts are, in many of the cases, parts of dialogues put together. The Female heroic was all chopped down to make it fit for the online auditions, as well as many of the others (or they were put together from various dialogues lines). Also, they were modified in bits or deleted in lines to prevent spoilers.
So there, I hope that answered the question. I can asure you they flow better in their real form. :)
:suffer:
Yeah it does...thank you for the explanation :)
I didn't mean to offend...they just struck me as not flowing so much..that explains it.
Thanks again :)
Rune (I think I'd better get to bed before I resemble Hagatha in the morning)

To All Online Auditioners -
I'll be out of town for a week and will be returning after the 4th of July weekend. At that time, I will be dedicating myself to organizing the online audiiton submissions and then casting them :D.
I'm very excited. I'm sorry this has taken so long. Blame Cesar - he's given me too much to do :P.
Is it safe to assume, that we will have till the 4th of July(to submit auditions)?
Is that next Sunday?
Probably, but I wouldn't assume any later. XD
No problem, Yonkey. Just doing my bit to prevent any future hold-ups on my part. :D

hahaha, you eager cookies :P
I want to remind you all that the online auditions are only for minor and supportive roles, the live auditions were held back in Jan 10 in the city of New York, for which I have to say were quite an event for the kq9 team, with all this I must say that our talent director Michael Fortunato is still working with real life auditions as time goes (recording the parts, yes), he may be able to come together any moment soon and take care of the online auditions, don't worry, as soon as anything should be informed we will let everyone know around here :P in the meantime if you are all so interested/worried keep supporting the online auditions and increasing your odds by submitting more interesting material for Michael to work on, thank you all :)
While I am a little impatient about knowing what parts I got (if I got any at all), I must admit, I like that it's taking so long to find out. Since I'm so out of pocket this summer, feeling like I don't have one place I'm living and not having access to a mic except for some weekends, it's actually convenient that we haven't found out yet. By the time I move back in the dorms, I'll be able to have my mic ready to go any day recording of parts is needed. But if we get our parts before the end of August (when I move back into the dorms) I have no clue when I'd be able to record.
Was that followable for anyone? I feel like I just spit that out and it didn't make any sense... :-\
Cat
You might be contacted before the end of August, if chosen. You could always buy a somewhat decent mic for $20 or less in some store. Or you could just do recording on the weekends. It depends on the deadline for the specific character. Also, you'd work out your specific recording schedule with Mike anyway.

:P It actually reminds me a bit of the LSL8 test video on Al Lowe's site. 8)
The problem is...the place I'm staying during the week has a computer for "school" use and they don't want anything extra installed on it. That computer is currently in the shop b/c some person installed a game that had so many viruses in it, it may have shut down the whole computer. So if I get contacted before the end of August, I WILL get the recordings done...I'll just have to wait for the weekend when I can use the mic at the house.
Cat
online auditions? wow... i was afraid of this. So you are just going to take random people and have them recite the lines for the game? Hmm, well i guess since this is a non funding project then the original voices of everyone in the game is going to change.
Well, yeah... as nice as it would be to have the original voice actors, they do their voice acting for, well, money, which this project kind of doesn't have. ;P
And I don't know about random people... there were/are auditions after all.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Correct, these are Online Auditions, meaning random people won't get the part, but random people that sound good will. XD Also, only minor roles are available for people that record online. The major roles were given when we had the Live Auditions in NYC back in January.

This is an ambitious project so far webdepartment has the lead to take care of it and do the management of it at some point, eventually our Talent Director which isn't anyone, it is a real life actor, director and talented/experienced professional in his area from NY will lead compile them all, listen, evaluate and we shall contact as he will believe to do so with project director Cesar Bittar, another one who happens to have background on this field as well (not just acting but also production and film) so IMHO this isn't taken neither lightly or picking out anyone. This was a standart set as well for the Live Auditions held in NYC.
Im going to remind you the fact that we may be independant AND freeware but as far as I DO know none of us is a random rookie in each respective field, we actually put together all our efforts as professionals to come up with a good idea on a good project, with the mangement, logistics and hard work to come put it all together.
And if anyone happen to believe this work, time, dedication and everything else is for free because we are not actually gaining any profit out of it, you're wrong, hence the hosting, bandwith, quality work, time commited IS as a matter of fact an investment of talent to put together something like this. We do have real jobs but none the less each around here has either a degree or happens to be working on this field in real life.
I had to state that clear hence I don't mind about rumors or speculations, I can state those either right or wrong anyhow, but I do strongly dislike information not accurate that may happen to reflect wrong to this creative group.
Since Yonkey thought of LSL, I know they haven't gotten around to most of the auditions yet. Phoenix, as soon as it has some special meaning to you(about the auditions), please post.

Don't worry...they'll take out all the random voices and replace it with random text commands just for you...like "unclose" to open the door and "phalanges flex" to grab things...it's just a shame only paid professionals have vocal cords, KQ9's dialogue consists entirely of grunts and hums by random people who never figured out how to speak

Hehe, I like this!
(am still not quite awake forgive me for what follows lol)
What about using psuedo-text adventures as a copy protection...you could just hear some people out there going "huh?" when they see a dos prompt on their screen...I can see it all now:
Kings Quest Alternate Voice Chat Adventure Game:
Please enter your password to continue:
<insert nice flashy box here with mouse commands and everything>
You put in the word "cookies" as your password. This is incorrect..proceeding on to game...
<at this point you're going..huh?>
<Screen flashes...goes black..then a line of off-green text appears....>
You are standing (ok, sitting) in a very cluttered bed-room with an unmade bed. There is a desk here. (psst if you are unsure of what to do please refer to pg 5 of your manual which well, tells you what to do and how to do it if you fail the copy protection. BTW, this is your alternate chance to get into the game...don't blow it.)
>train eyes and move them over the desk. Pause to reflect on contents of the desk.
On your desk are several empty boxes of pizza, a Lord of the Rings RingWraith bank, two huge binders full of old software and a computer.
>train eyes and train eyes and move them over the computer. Pause to reflect on computer.
Your computer has a microphone attached to it and a screensaver on the monitor that says "Windows *****," even though you are using Windows. Come on now, wouldn't it be better to not insult the Windows gods who keep your computer so precariously working?
>tap the microphone
Sorry I do not know the meaning of the word "tap."
>change the microphone's state to on
The microphone is now on. A green light pulses from its base.
>record voice for KQ9 auditions
The micorophone starts to smoke as you record your voice. Ignoring it, you continue. After a while it starts to shake. The green light on the microphone suddenly goes off and a red light comes on. Your monitor is displaying something.
>&%@#$!!#$$!
Sorry, that response was not understood.
>Look at the monitor.
You look at the monitor.
>GAHHH!!!
If you must cuss, please use proper vernacular.
>look at the monitor and read its contents
The monitor is displaying the following message: we are sorry but your voice is too Mundanian.
>what??
(ignores that)This microphone will not accept it. While we are aware that you requested to be born in sunny Florida when you first signed up for life, therefore making your voice American, this whole thing is rather like the military...you may want a certain base but there's no way on earth (heh) you're going to get it, meaning that the whole form of course is a joke. This is in keeping in beaurocratic standards for all of creation, and part of the creational company policy. We apologize for your inconvenience.
If you like you can work to improve your voice and make it more "natural" you are of course free to do so. However, this microphone refuses to allow you to record until such time as your voice is less Mundanian and thereby less harmful to the ears.
Have a nice day!
Your Microphone
>shoot microphone
I am sorry I do not understand the word "shoot".
>pick up RingWraith bank
You pick up the bank. You hear lots of pennies jingling inside.
>Use bank to throttle microphone
Your microphone is impervious to all damage whether human or divine.

Um, hello! I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if we can still submit some more audition material. I already sent something in, but I have more ideas.
Welcome Moodyblues! I hope you enjoy our forum, if you have any questions just ask!
I am happy to report that the auditions will be open a little longer but I wouldn't wait too long :)
Thanks! Wee, I sent them in. ;P
BTW, it's been a lot of fun listening to all the other entries. This is a talented bunch!

BTW...
WELCOME!!
Cat
Welcome to the forum, Moodyblues!! ;D
I'd hurry up with those auditions if I were you though... the auditions were supposed to close long ago already, and are only still on thanks to Mike (the voice director and many other splendid things) being too busy. As for how long he'll stay too busy - your guess is as good as mine ;D
Heh, thanks for the warm welcomes. :)
I'd like to have my brother's and my entries posted. Who is this Neil you speak of, and how may I contact him? ;B
I'm right here. :P Did you want to make your auditions public?
Oh. Heh. ;]
Yes, please make all our auditions public.
Here they are:
Female 1 File 1 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/Moody_Female1_File1.wav)
Female 1 File 2 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/Moody_Female1_File2.wav)

Male 2 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/Moody_Male2.wav)
And here's your brother:
Male 2 (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions/public/eric_male2_file1.wav)
I haven't listened to these yet, but I'll check em out soon. ;D
This is going to take awhile ;D
*starts downloading*
Wait....
WAV format ???
Anyone mind explaining the file sizes?
Don't worry, each file is under 2MB. :)
But you're right about it taking a while, since the total size of all the files add up to 7.3MB. XD
I've already finished over half of them, so it shouldn't take too long.
EDIT: Done
Shoot, I didn't realize I did so many! Heh... online auditions are addicting. :D
I just finished listening to them! XD They're great! ;D
I agree with Neil! They're really good! Got the chance to listen to them this morning...just didn't get the chance to reply!

Hmm... It's now the early part of September. Are the auditions still open? How's everything?
Prolly still waiting on Mike finishing the main character recording, I'd wager a guess. (shrug)
How is that going?
Peace & Luv, Liz
Thanks for the update, Jeysie.
That reminds me...
does "hello is this thing on!? Testing, one, two, three"
have any special meaning to you yet? XD
or the word "gremlin"? XD
Gremlins. The h6 forums had a gremlin invasion a long time ago. I didn't witness it, but I heard it was pretty fun.
Don't feed gremlins after midnight. Or else.
Yeah, an update from Mike would be awesome!
So are the aditions still up because I am planning on making 6or 7 adutions tonight
They're still open, but not for much longer. :P
How much longer maybe I just need like two more days I just put up three today but I just used my regular voice so I want to try some more voices

If I were you, I'd submit the auditions, as soon as possible, and hope I sent them in time(If the audition link's there, odds are you can still submit). Since it's FAR past the original closing date, you shouldn't count on it being up much longer.
P.S. Hint= It probably won't close, until this Sunday. You should still send them, as soon as possible.
Correct, they'll be open until this Sunday at the latest. After that, I can't guarentee whether or not they'll still be open.
Ok... Ive submitted a few voice clips. Do with them what you would. :)
Now im going to take a nap...

You always say that :S
That's cuz they were originally supposed to be closed months ago, but now I can't guanantee them staying open for longer than next week.
Once they're closed, the people won't be chosen that same day either, so it's better they stay open as long as possible, rather than closing them early. 8)
So...
Does the word "Gremlin" or "testing, 1 ,2 ,3" mean anything to you yet? XD
^ Could you explain that? Wouldn't keeping them open longer just prolong the casting, since no matter what we're "not going to be casted the same day they close?" ???

Not really, it's not like it's impossible to listen to them before they're officially closed. Closing them early just deprives others from submitting during the period of time before casting of the online auditioners officially starts.
True, but now isn't exactly early if you know what I mean ;). Still, whatever, I know what you're saying. And LN, LOL you've probably asked that same question about 4 times in this thread and never gotten a response.
QuoteAnd LN, LOL you've probably asked that same question about 4 times in this thread and never gotten a response.
If you want an explination, PM Mad Man, and ask him to allow his auditions to be posted. They're probably one of the most enjoyable to listen to. XD
....A week and a half later and the auditions are still up. Looks like you were right, Storm.
Of course! dontcha know, I'm ALWAYS right 8)
....always?? :o :o ...serious about that? :S
Storm's always right, except for the times when she's not. ;)

Some people would always try to put you down :( :P
Hee, I'm sorry... I'm not trying to put you down, that's just one of my favorite quotes. I generally use it in reference to myself. :D 8)
There's a technical term for that sort of statement, but it's eluding my memory right now. At any rate, conscious use of such appeals to my warped sense of humor.
Erm, can I just say I was trying to be funny and it didn't work?

I you want to hear them, I wouldn't mind posting them in this thread. I wonder when we find out...
Since something will hypothetically happen to the Online Auditions either today or tommorow, will that something be hypothetically closing them or hypothetically closing them AND hypothetically notifying the auditioners the results?
Since these are only hypothetical questions, hypothetical real answers would be appreciated :P

I'm going to go with a hypothetical yes...and a hypothetical no on those questions. However, since I'm not a member of the team, just a much loved poster (I hope, anyway!), my hypothetical answers have no bearing on the hypothetical real answers you are asking for.
BTW, Neil, did you hear that? XaXona wants her auditions posted :P
Koko I was pretty much thinking the same thing, except I think that it was revealed that the directors have hypothetically decided on who is moving on in the character contest.
Since the online auditions have been going on LONGER than the character contest, and both are still open, it could be POSSIBLE that they have hypothetically casted the roles from the auditions.
That having been said, they probably will just hypothetically close them.
I'm hypothetically confused... =^.^=
XaXona, we did receive your auditions however, they seem to play very fast (chipmunk speed :P).
Try saving them in mp3 format, following the steps on the Online Auditions (http://www.tsl-game.com/join/onlineauditions) page and resubmit them.

Hey, we haven't heard from Mike in a really long time. Could someone bug him to give us either a post in this topic or a journal entry?
Then again, it would take away from the time he's spending casting us ;D
:-* I wonder how long it will take? *is excited*
I know that Mike has been busy lately with his job and moving and a bunch of other crazy stuff, but he's been working on getting voices recorded whenever he can, as well as working on his usual art assignments. :) FWIW, my own lines are done, and Harrison's are about 1/3 done at this point. ;D
Peace & Luv, Liz
As Jeysie said, Mike is really busy with work, moving and other KQ9 duties besides the voice recordings, since he is also an Assistant Art Director. Once he gets a chance to look at the Online Auditions, then he'll post here. In the mean time guys, just hang in there and we'll let you guys know when there are any updates. :)

FYI, I'm considering a move to Japan at the moment, so I'm doubt as to if I'll be able to contribute, considering the rate things are going at the moment.
Bummer the online auditions are closed. :) Recently kicked off a machinima series with a friend of mine (you can see it at Neverending Nights.com (http://www.neverendingnights.com)), and love voice acting. :) Just came into this too late! :)
I am eager to see who gets selected. :) Sounds like fun and good stuff. :)
Bummer indeed, ive got a killer sean connery ;D
Just wanted to give you an update.
I'll be soon sitting with Michael to go through the online auditions as we'll need the voices in the very near future.
So.... it's only a matter of weeks now :)
Sorry for the delay, we were just taking care of placing everything so that we can finally make use of your talent :)
César
Hmmm...Erik just asked me last week if I had heard anything...
Now to go get the link and make sure he gets the updated info :P
This sounds promising. Can't wait to hear the results.

For anyone that missed it, Mike said in the chat that he wants to be finished the voices by the end of this summer.
The news of the trilogy leads us to a new question, however. How will the voices in the next games be handled? Will there be a whole new set of auditions?
Mike or Cesar can correct me, but I believe the live audition casting was for characters in all Parts in the game. Of course, the priority is given to those that appear during Part 1, but people who sounded good for characters that only appear in Part 2 or 3 were chosen as well.
Will they let each of us know if not in? I hate it when they only contact those who have been chosen, and then you wait forever until the game is released wondering if they've decided yet or not. :P
I am just kicking myself for not having found this site sooner - because I would have been all over the voice acting auditions since that's what I'd like to do! :)
(I'd like to do it as a job... not just for KQ9, although doing it for KQ9 would be an amazing start to it all) :D
But as the ol' saying goes: Ye would have been great... if ye weren't so damn late!
:suffer:

I believe we will. I have to check with Michael to make sure he has all the entries still since I ended up losing 8 months worth of e-mails a year ago when my hard drive died. :-\
Neil, know if any of mine are missing? I'd have to hook up my computer to get the files, but it shouldn't take more than twenty minutes to do so.
Well actually I have all the files, it's just the application submissions (e-mails) that I don't have from March to May 2004. Mike said he thinks he has them all though but he's going to check to make sure. You don't need to resend anything.
Ahhh...ok. Thanks...It can a hassle to go find the computer, carry it across the room, then move everything out of the way so I can place it next to the home computer. Mainly, it's the hassle since I have like no strength :P
I feel I should mention that since I auditioned quite a while ago, and I am still in my formative years, I sound rather different now than when I auditioned.
Is there any chances of more vocal auditions opening up in the future? :)
Me? Desperate? What gives you that idea!?? :P
If we go through all the online auditioners & live voiceover cast members and still aren't able to find someone to fill a specific part, then it's possible that we'll have more online auditions in the future. 8)
*Acquires a list of names of people to suddenly become "sick" for awhile*
:P
I'm glad I checked back I look fowards to seeing the cast *hides from Tawmis*
*looks for Azure*
Hrm. I have a feeling one of them is around here...!
I'm temporarily unavailable for the time-being, as I'm working out in a roadhouse in the middle of the Nullarbor (southern part of Australia, on the edge of a desert) and the only form of net access from there is via a net kiosk, which is broken at the moment and won't be fixed for sometime. (I'm in a net loung in a country city called Kalgoorlie at the moment, for those wondering why I'm able to post here)
I'm thinking about heading back to Perth in about a month's time or so (almost got enough money to head for the UK, assuming I don't get something else related to my field in Oz before that happens), so I'll post if I will be available before the end of summer.
I meant to post about this 3 months ago when I left, but I was in that much of a hurry getting things sorted before I left, I forgot about it. So, apologies if I've inconvenienced somebody somewhere as a result.
Well they're trying to get the voices done by the end of summer so hopefully the results of the auditions will come out soon!
*can't wait*

Quote from: Yonkey on July 02, 2005, 01:06:20 PMHmm... did you e-mail me your recordings? I can't find that e-mail. :S
The reason why you can't find an e-mail with my recordings is very simple: there isn't one. As I already hinted in the previous message, my recordings weren't 'delivered' the normal way. It took me a long time to figure out why the microphone in my headset didn't work in Linux, so I was a bit (too) late to send me application the normal way. However, due to my fannaticism, you offered me a 'special treatment', and thus you should have downloaded my audition files from my website.
Ahh right. :) I thought you e-mailed me too, but I guess it was just a forum post. I didn't save them to this site since the auditions had already closed. I figured since you were able to store them on your site, it wouldn't be a problem to just send Mike the forum post of them instead.
I did listen to them though: XD

Did you send Mike the forum post at that point (in time) and, if yes, do you know if he already downloaded my audition files? I am asking this because, in order to make room (the MaleEvil-ones were both more than 5 Meg each) (rather large) photos (see Haven), I took the precaution of deleting them from my webspace. Ofcourse, I still have a local copy of them, if needed.
And yes, I know you (and others) listened to them. I'm not one to post in a thread and then not following it up (although twice a year it might take some time). 8)
I think Mike was still in the process of moving when you posted those, so I don't think he heard them. He hasn't officially listened to any of the other online auditions yet either though. :-\
If you convert them to .mp3 and zip them, they should take up much less space. Just post the links in this thread once you've uploaded them again. :)

AWESOME NEWs!!
Now you all got me really excited, I better get a part, lol.
<ENTER LORD SLOTH>
Hmm, cheerful looking place...I guess.
Didn't think I'd be walking willingly into this forum insanity, but the dawning of the casting (my casting I hope) seems to be upon us and something Yonkey said in the newly locked topic made me willing to risk the "intense flavor" here in order to confirm some stuph. Namely that my audition was still eligible.
Yonky> So yeah, you said that some e-mails had been lost I believe between March and May; I think my auditions were delivered at the start of March (give or take). Since I'm not a part of this little community (at least I didn't used to be) I was worried there would be no way to be informed if my e-mail was lost.
So I'm asking now. My given name is Rob(in) Irwin, e-mail is Nibor_Niwri@hotmail.com and I think I sent in between 11 and 14 recordings (I'd have to check my other computer).
This might be something only the voice director can answer, but he doesn’t appear to hang around here that often and as the casting seems to be imminent, I want to be sure I get heard in time. So if anyone listening can ease my mind on the subject I would appreciate it.
...not saying I'd stick around or anything, but still...the Quest of King's means a lot to me, I'd hate to be denied the opportunity of a more intimate connection. If I am then it had better be due to horrible talent.
Cheers.

So I'm asking now. My given name is Rob(in) Irwin, e-mail is Nibor_Niwri@hotmail.com and I think I sent in between 11 and 14 recordings (I'd have to check my other computer).
You sent in 11 and yes, we have everyone's submissions. 8)
Just to give everyone a quick update, Cesar and I have went through all the auditions and cast almost all the parts. This week & next Mike's going through them and finalizing our decisions. As soon as he's done that, we'll contact everyone (whether you were cast or not).
There's a chance that the people we casted no longer have the same e-mail or ISP, and in which case we may choose other auditioners, or assign them to the live auditioners (depending on the role).
Thanks for hanging in there guys! :)
Uh oh, I'm going to be out of town for 2 weeks, 2 weeks from now. Hopefully I won't miss anything important. ;D
As long as your Inbox isn't full, you shouldn't miss anything. :)
eek school starts in 2 weeks :/
i prob won't get cast but just in case
So close! Wow! YAY! :D
About one more week guys!
Man I'm excited.
It hasn't been posted already? ???

PS: What was the meaning of all those acknowledge-replies, were you trying to flood my inbox while I was on holiday? 8) :P
I haven't e-mailed anyone yet... so those things you received were probably viruses. ;P
If i got cast i would hope for a small part like "fish sales man #4" or like "random cough heard from off screen" so then i could blow my part way out of propoution and make a big deal out of it at school and then when people hear me they will be dissapointed on how small a part i have :stabs:

It's been a while since I received any viruses, even though there isn't any virusscanner present on any of my mailboxes. But no, the things I received were notifies, one for every reply. And yes, I know notifies are very small, that's why I used the :P ofcourse.
IF I get cast, I'd hope it to be for a small part too. If I get a too big part, my voice might fstart to alter. :S But then again, I think the big parts have been cast in the NY Auditions. 8)
well a group email has just been recieved :)
I've just finished e-mailing everyone! ;D
There were a total of 86 auditioners and 304 submissions! !!! I just got word from Mike and we'll be posting the list of cast auditioners this week. :)
Wow! And just when I thought my audition was thrown in the trash, look what I find in my mailbox!!
Can't wait to see the results!
-Kurt
Cool! Unfortunately, it went to my bulk mail, so if it wasn't for Kimmie saying there was a mass email, I wouldn't have known to look. But...YAY!
It probably went to bulk because the e-mail address is @tsl-game.com instead of @kq9.org. Anyway, at least you've added it to your Safe List now. :)
Yeap yeap yeap! Made sure that tsl-game.com is now going to be sent directly to my inbox! ;D
Oh my goodness, I was beginning to wonder what happened! :0 Well, I am glad you guys are finished with casting. I hope I get a part *crosses finger* Good luck to everyone else!

How many parts are there to be filled? Only 86 people sounds like pretty good odds.

I don't know the exact number since Mike hasn't sent me the final cast list yet. The list I have right now has 127 characters, but some of these have already been recorded by the live auditioners. :)

What? The live auditioners are stealing the online auditioners's (?sp) parts? That's outrageous! :P j/k
Not, seriously, 127 minus 86 is still 41.

That means that a good majority of the people who auditioned online will get a part. ::) (Unless most of the parts were cast in New York :P)
You guys are assuming that everyone who auditioned online were good... ;P
The sad truth is that a lot of them were boring/uninteresting, had poor acting, or the mic quality was so bad that they we wouldn't even be able to fix them digitally. :-X
Remember that we have high quality standards for this game, and that includes voices. So rather than trying to pick people that were "ok", we cast people that sounded awesome and would really breathe life into these characters. 8)
Anyway, we appreciate your patience guys. Keep hanging in there! :)
Well, I'm leaving early tommorow morning for vacation so it seems pretty unlikely that I'll know the results of the auditions for another two weeks. :-[
Hopefully, if I make it in, I won't miss the deadline for sending my recordings in. If I don't make it in, I won't have to worry about it, though. :-\

Meh...probably means my mic quality wasn't all that great either... :(
I've aquired a new mic (as well as SoundForge Audio Studio) in the interim between when I auditioned and now, so if I'm cast the quality'll be much better that what you received, hopefully. I'm using the setup for KQ3 recording now and it's doing just fine, so I don't forsee any mic problems on my end...if I'm cast, that is, heh.
AUGH! XD You're killing me here, Yonkey. You've given me the jitters of anticipation! *shakes fist*
I agree! Isn't it time yet? Sorry, I'm usually pretty patient... ;]
I agree... I know I'm not around all that often, but when I got the e-mail that the cast list was going up soon I got all jittery and excited! MY new mantra is "Patience... patience...."
But seriously.... very exciting ;D
Yeah Yonkey what's with keeping us waiting d00d! We want to know if we got parts... though I'd be surprised if I got one, since I didn't audition.. hmm.. wait.. just take your time then :D
Hey guys,
Mike, Cesar and I spent around 6 hours straight going through the casting last night! ;D It ended up getting too late, but there are just a couple more roles we need to cast! :)

Greek mythology. They give inspiration(to the arts, I think). :P
*looks for a link about them*
Muses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muse)
"Greek Mythology. Any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each of whom presided over a different art or science.
muse
A guiding spirit.
A source of inspiration.
muse A poet"

Fellow Wallflower's of the world, unite!
*pokes people*
I've been lurking for two years (oops. nope. 1 year), figured it's about time I posted.
I'm Amber/Auri/Whatever, by the way. :)
Thanks for that link on muses. It's been a while. I used to know all of them for high school scholar bowl. The good old days. *sigh*
Still, there's nothing like a fun Calliope invocation. If you know anything about Orpheus, one of them was his mom I think. Can't remember which. Maybe that was in there. Lazy eyes, lazy eyes I have.
Hmm. I need to learn how to make my text all prettified. Another day, another day.
Anyway, I'm very excited about the cast list, and the game in general. Right now I've had too much sugary soda, so I should go chill out for a bit.
Be good everyone!

Hey look! I'm the tallest Wallflower!
Well, I'm short in real life, so in the game, can't I be the tall one??
Congratulations on all the people I know (and the ones I don't know) for the part(s) they got. Unfortunately, my voice will remain as anonymous as it was before, not to my surprise though. 8)
Congrats to everyone who made the list! I hope you all have a lot of fun doing the parts!
*Looks*
*Rubs her eyes*
I can't believe it!! I made THE LIST!! :o
And not just one, but TWO somewhat-significant roles :o :o
Oh, the pressure! the PRESSURE!! :sweating: ;P
WOOOOOO! Awesome! I see a few of my friends made it too!!! :D
Oh my gosh! "Moody" isn't me, is it? *goes nuts with confusion/excitement*
Congrats to everyone who made it!
I wonder how the voice of my character will get done since my voice isn't good enough for KQIX. :-\
I want to add as well that this is the cast list for Part I: Shadows. There are still plenty of characters for Part 2: The Two That Are One.
Part 3: Eternities is rather short on characters tho.
Also, there were really good people that we didn't cast. It just happens to be that sometimes, it doesn't matter how good someone can be, there's just not a part for such person.
Congratulations, everyone!
And I get to clown around! ;D
Say, now that the cast list is official, are those video clips going to be released soon? ;) I want to see the Hilarious Trio, whatever their names were. XD
Whoo hoo!! Made the list as well in 3 different roles! Very cool. Thank you!
Congratulations everyone!
Can't wait to hear you as a Wallflower Cat :D
Congrats to those who made it to the list.
Ooh... neat! ;D
Aron and Guard Dog #1 - looking forward to learning
more about them!
Congratulations to everyone...
Evening all!

Joking! Joking! Please dont re-cast me as a slug. ;D
Congrats everyone! I look forward to hear everyone's voice. Especially Cat the Wallflower. You'll do great, girl! ;)
Looking forward to you as a Druid, Erik...always saw you as one :P
Oh yeah, what do you think of the new forum?
*wonders if he'll come back to answer that question*
Hello everyone,
Fun surpise today to check my e-mail, a look at the list, and to see my name on the cast list! So, I figure might as well create a forum account and say hello to everyone.... ... ... hi.
I'm not a real avid forum poster, chances are that they will be rare if any at all (no offense to forums or those who post on forums, I'm just not that clever or have anything valuable to add).
I am an actor looking into becoming voice talent and couldn't be more glad and excited to play a role or two in a game based upon some of the most classical games ever made. I'm very serious about acting and video games, so this should be a great combination. Due to locale differences, I was not able to attend the physical audtions, but was not going to pass up the chance for the online ones. I look forward to voicing the characters of Shamir and Rug Seller.
A cliche: "There are no small roles, only small people"
An opinion: "Small roles are fun... and there is nothing wrong with small people"
I AM SO EXCITED FOR ALL YOU!!!! I can't wait to play the game! ;D
Ahh crap...I really have to check the site more. I totally missed these long-distance auditions. Ah well, maybe next game.
I know I'm thinking more far ahead than is practical right now, but for the part 2... is that also cast, and if so, would that list be posted around this time next year, or sooner?
And if it's not cast, is there going to be another round of auditions, or are you going to use the ones you already have?
*is nosy* *pokes nose in staff's papers* *paws at stuff*
Congratulations everyone! :)
Hey all! Another "I am new poster here because my name showed up in the cast list". I be Village Man #1, to which I say most enthusiastically: "Neat!" Looking forward to doing lines and working with everybody! Only not LITERALLY working with everybody (since I'm in Australia, and it's hard to work with people when we're all scattered around the globe) but in a more figurative sense of the phrase "working with everybody". Which is to say, it'd actually be working with nobody since we'll all be off recording our own individual lines, but it'd be nicer to say that it's working with everybody.
.... Let's try this again: Hi! I'm new here! I'm Vilage Man #1! Nice to meet you all!
Welcome Oma! I don't know about everyone else, but I chuckled quite a bit with your post! It'll be nice to "work" with you :P
Hey all. Like several others, I figured I'd get a forum account since I'm now part of the cast (Poet - ironically, I was an English major). I'm a professional actor and have always wanted to do some voice work, but the industry is so tough to break into (even more so than stage or film acting), so this will be a fun and interesting experience for me.
Now, brace yourselves...
I've never played any of the King's Quest series. I've always wanted to, and I love adventure/RPG games, but none of the KQ games ever came my way, so it will also be fun to try KQIX when it is released.
I imagine it will be a little strange to enter a room, click on a character named "Poet," and hear my voice come out of his mouth.
Looking forward to it.
Welcome, and congratulations. :)
koko_99_2001 - Thank you! It'd be nice to "work" with you as well! I'm usually much more normal than this. Really, I am. Honest. @_@
Aurianna - My little turn of phrase is even more hillarious when I reveal the secret origins of my avatar. WHich I won't for the sake of suspense. It's neat!
Eframies - Ah, I too will have to admit to not playing the KQ games. I was more of a LucasArts man, and like the great "Nintendo vs. Sega" console battles of the day, that automatically meant I shunned a whole library of great adventure games simply because they were made by Sierra. What foolish creatures we humans be, at times.
Oh, and to anyone with dreams of doing voiceover work, might I direct you to this nice little amateur-based community over here (currently undergoing a board upgrade):
http://www.voiceacting.co.uk/board/index.php
Keep it mind, it's somewhat slanted towards doing anime fandub clips, but it has a variety of other productions as well. And I'm not only a member, I'm..... wait, I'm just a member. But a senior one! Which means I'm old. God, I'm so old. ;_;
haha Oma I didn't think to plug the VAA at all XD *ahem* you're not th eonly old one *sigh*.
To anyone who hasn't played any KQ I heartily recommend the versions linked.
Congrats to everyone else who got cast, it looks like we have a real mix of nationliaties. I'm English myself.
*sigh* British people :) You can further introduce yourself here: Newcomer's Introduction Thread (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=2737.0) which we highly recommend so we may be able to get to know you better. But congrats on your parts!
Sweet! I'm Village Man #3 AND the White Knight! Thanks so much, you guys rock!
Congrats everyone. Wish I had some turmoil to spread onto you all, but since I don't I'll just say, "Fantastico!"
Can't wait to work on the project. Thanks for picking the Lady with the Bronze Chords.
:-*
Winged Soldier #2 present! ;D
And I'm another Aussie, but from Perth instead of Adelaide (as appears to be the trend :P )
Skyshark, congrats on the part! I love the winged ones. :)
Heh... Cat, are you scaring the newbies? tsk tsk tsk.
Wow. I sent in my audition so long ago I'd nearly forgotten about it completely. Seems I'll be playing the part of Nogik. Sweet. :)

I'm thrilled to be cast in KQIX. I've had a real infatuation with the series since I played KQV a very VERY long time ago. It's the name change...but with Yahoo, you can click "not spam" and not have that problem again...depending on what part of the site it comes from.
I'm excited to be a part of this. I understand it takes a while to get things together, but if this project's coming out this winter don't we have to get the material to rehearse and send back? I'm a little confused. :-\
Heh, well, the great thing about their release date is it pretty much spans from November until March. ;)

Oh, and one person I know thought it was "extremely awesome" that I have a part in a game. He says that now, he'll definitely have to download the game, just so that he can point me out to his friends and say "that's my girlfriend's sister!" But, for those who missed the online auditions, is there a chance that there'll be another audition for Part Two or are ya'll just going to use the voices that have already been submitted?

Actually we cast most of the parts for Part Two & Three as well, but our priority is on getting the Part One voices done before winter. :) Of course, we may end up contacting people from Part Two or Three if time permits, or if there are people doing characters in both or all three parts. 8)

Are these results only for part one??? I learned about the auditions a little too late and was wondering if there would be any more. I really really really really really really really really would love a chance to audition (and, if I do say so myself, I have a killer voice). Oh dear. But congratulations to the folks who got parts!
Congratulations to everyone that made it on the cast list. I am never letting this forum or any other know how dorky and retarded my voice sounds. I envy those with good voices. Can't wait to play the game! Hey, soon it will be September, we'll be getting into Autumn, then Winter won't be far behind.

What, you frequent other forums too? :o :P

Yup. We've cast most the roles for the other Parts as well, but we'll contact those people later on. Our focus is on Part One right now. I'm not sure if there will be any more auditions in the future, but anything's possible. :P

i'm sorry but still no email :( :stabs:
I finally figured out why you never got the e-mail. I had @sbcglobal.com instead of @sbcglobal.net. :!Oops:
You should receive the activation e-mail now. :)

The roles for the other parts, are they on the 'Online Cast List'-page too?
I gotta say, this hit me like a ton of bricks. I had forgotten all about this. For one thing, I should tell you that I sound quite different from when I auditioned.

We know, Emu. :) I've mentioned that to Mike & Cesar while we were listening to all the auditions. As long as you don't sound like Tim Curry now, it's no problem. ;P We really liked your audition, and that's why you were cast as Village Boy #2.
Hahaha my little forum profile thingy says I'm a wizard's slave... I can't help thinking that after I finish a long and arduous journey I'll discover that I'm actually the Prince of Daventry. And seeing as I'm a girl... well, lets just say that would be quite a shock.
But yes. Please, more auditions (I'll pay you), PLEASE. For we the electronically slow and inept (which is probably only me, but still).
