Because I haven't had a post party in a loooooong long time.
HOORAY!
Grats!
Still a genie tho!
*grabs a pie and 'ashes it into 'ango's face*
YAY! Awesome, Mango! :cesar:
I'll be celebrating with you in another 500-something posts.
522 posts, Haids :)
512? ::)
*does the post party dance*
Congrats Mango!
We all look forward to many more hours with you in the posting trenches alongside us! (...and your mango army of course! ;))
Ok, so I can't count!
Actually, if you ask Erik, I don't do math in my head. I have to have a calculator or our checkbook would be a mess!
Me too, Koko. I'm a total math loser. The family makes fun of me. ;D
I'm good with math up till calculus. Then I start failing.
Fiesta fiesta! This is my 1,500th post! :james:
I can cast spells on you all now...

It's really bad when we play different games with his family that we have to count points on. Everyone else puts two or three numbers together and gets the correct answer in no time. For me, I sit there, counting in my head :P

I'm with you on that. My dad and brother are amazing at math, but I happened to have inherited my mom's disability genes. I got ADHD from her, and math is something I simply can't do... I am incapable of doing mental math. Thank god for IEPs. Without one, I'd have to take my MCAS tests without a calculator (though I'm glad both the MCAS and the SATs are behind me now...).
Congrats Mango and Haids!!! I should start a thread for when I hit 3000 posts... I've got quite a while to go before I move up the ranks again...

One of the many reasons why God gave us fingers and toes! ;D
Grats! :D
For being a math major, I'm not all that great with it, especially some of the basics like mental math and basic algebra (I depend too much on my calculator :P)
I used to be quite good with 'ath 'yself and have to say that not beeing that great with 'ath is 'ore like a feat then a disability, beeing good at it is 'ore likely to scare people off! ::)
A MATH MAJOR?! Tess, you're a rock star to be able to do that. The very idea of becoming a math major gives me cold, violent shudders. I have a lot more respect for you all of a sudden. ;)

lol thanks. Didn't intend to be a math major, originally only had a minor to go with my Comp Sci major. Decided might as well upgrade to a major since I could and it wasn't that many more classes.
What are you going to do with it, teach math? 'Cause I could bow down and kiss the feet of all my previous math teachers for putting up with my lack of skills!
he, lord no, don't like math nearly that much (or teaching). Don't intend to do anything with it really, I consider myself a comp sci major mostly. I'm hoping to get some programming job after grad school.
*Shaking my head in wonderment and awe*
You're so freaking cool.
never had anyone tell me that before, my self-esteem is now back to where it was before that quiz. XD
:) Mission accomplished!
I was going to be a computer science major but I just can't seem to do good in any classes besides English so I am think I may become an English Major now.
Yaaaay, English! That's what I'm doing too. I love English so much I have three literature-themed tattoos. ;D
Comp Sci I can do, but I can't interpret books or write worth anything. :P
Haha! We all have our things. I think that I could probably do computer science, but I much prefer English.
lol, this is great! I started out as an interior design and architecture major, but realized that I didn't have the aptitude for it. I still like to draw house plans though.
I ended up majoring in speech therapy, and who knew how much science went into it! I barely made it through neuroscience as well as anatomy! Always said I wouldn't go into a science field... ::)
Back on semi-topic...I believe we once had threads for people of different post ranks, where you could only post in that thread, if you were that rank :P

Sounds like segregation to me... ;)
I'm going into Web Design and Interactive Media next year, and I'm worried about the amount of math I'm going to have to do. But I suppose I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it... Right now I'm just ready to move out of high school and go right into my intended field of study... I'm only taking Forensic Science to fill my graduation requirements...
In on-topicness: Are those threads still in existence? If not, they should be created once again. They'd be great ways for people to up their post count (and I really need that...)
Isn't that what these threads are for now? :P

good point XD
But the more the better, right?
No! Then I'd have all these topics for TSL Groupies thatI won't be able to participate in. :'(

I don't care that it's off topic. This conversation thread is fantastic.
For the record, I have the highest respect for math majors (...I happen to be thrilled to be dating someone who will be majoring in math next year). It takes general skill and awesomeness. XD
I was going to major in CS, but I decided to major in Game Design since that's more applicable to what I want to do, and I can graduate in 4 years instead of 5. XD (In other words, CS is also a ridiculously awesome major :P)
Where are you going that CS is a 5 year major?
We don't have a Game Design major, sadly. That would be a really cool major . All we have is Computer Science and Computer Information Systems. Although we do have a Game Programming and Computer Graphics class and a AI class. I've never worked as hard and as much as I did for that Game class, but it was also one of the most fun classes I've had. AI... not so much. Though that's probably because that's the one class I still haven't finished making up work for and have been procrastinating on for months. ::)
I wanted to go into games at one point, but now I have no idea where in CS I want to specialize in.
I'm going to RIT. They have a co-op program where you take 3 quarters (the equivalent of one year) over the course of your college life to work at actual companies. The Game Design major has the co-op too, but apparently they want you to co-op during the summer or something...I'm not really sure, but they say it's a 4 year program. XD
I'm not sure what the game programming classes are like though. The one you described being in (where you got to get experience and level up) seemed ridiculously fantastic. XD
And why the change of heart? I mean, anything in particular make the rest of CS seem interesting? :P

I agree with you, Rosella, this is awesome. ;D
Computer science is something I thought about doing as well, but my heart really is in books and English, so that won over. I'm going to (eventually) be a librarian, though I'll for sure have to take some computer classes in that field anyway.

We could always have Genie raids on the higher up threads?
And I love how off-topic this thread has gotten. Only in the TSL Off-Topic forum!
Was there ever a thread, except for the General chat thread, staying on topic for longer then 2 pages? oO
I don't think there was :P But let's celebrate 2,000 posts.
YAY!
*celebrated*

I kinda used to think would be the only thing I'd be interested in, but now that I've had a lot more experience programming I've realized that I really love programming in general and can have a lot fun working on non-games. Plus I realized how hard it can be to get into the gaming industry.

Maybe the Word Association Thread. But even that's not immune. XD
The school i'm going to next year currently has no game design major, but they are instituting it in the very near future. i was told that it would probably be in effect when I'm in my sophomore year. i was also told that the classes for the first year of that major would be the same as the first year classes for the major I'm going into (web design an interactive media). so I can always switch if i want to...
I'd say most threads on the forum have trouble staying on topic in general. In all the years i've been here, there have always been issues with on-topic-ness... XD
There needs to be an emoticon wearing a party hat and blowing a horn. I have to use the thumbsup one everytime I'm celebrating something. ::)
But anyway--yaaaaaaaaaay! 2000 posts!
Rob, the Useless Conversations threads are ALWAYS on topic because the topic is conversing uselessly. :P
At the first version of it I think we had a discussion of when a useless conversation beco'es usefull thus beeing offtopic in that threat. I found that rather usefull 'yself *nods*
