Title: OMG WoW!
Post by: crayauchtin on March 15, 2010, 04:32:10 PM
So, this thread is for all of us (especially those of us who play it) to talk about WoW.

I know in another thread we'd mentioned the possibility of a TSL guild, anyone still game that?

I quit with WoW!

Awwww whyyy??

I haven't quit, but I've always been pretty casual and lately I've been super casual (mostly because the most active players in my main's guild are my evil ex and the guy he dumped me for... >:()

Realised it was actually quite a boring ga'e in the end, 'ainly because there was not 'uch to do to 'ake 'y character any better/stronger.

That's why you make new characters :P Erik and I are addicted on Cenarion Circle :P
Title: Re: OMG WoW!

Yeah, ditto. There's tons to do, and if you get bored with one toon you just make another one! It's not just about bettering your toon, there's so much you can do -- achievements, quests, raids, PvP, raid-quests, dragon-hunting, RP, player fairs... so many options!

Ok, Cenarion Circle but Horde or Alliance? And what do you like about it?

I also have toons on Silvermoon, which I enjoy. I find the random players I run into on that server are a lot nicer than they are on any other server I have toons on.
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: koko_99_2001 on March 15, 2010, 07:07:59 PM
Alliance. And I like it because Erik and I are both on it :P Actually we ended up on it because my free trial put me there and I love my character (Fayre) and if we tried moving to Feathermoon (Erik's old server), the name wasn't available there.
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: crayauchtin on March 15, 2010, 07:17:49 PM
Oh, so that's all? Try moving to Silvermoon! :P

I like Alliance because I feel like, with the exception of the Blood Elves, there's not as much "variety" in how you can look. Whereas, in all of the Alliance races, I feel like they have a lot more differences, y'know?

I was just looking through my WoW app on Facebook (the official one from the Armory!) and I noticed... I have tons of friends playing WoW... and most of them are Horde.... and not one of them plays on the same server as another one. :P

In the end there is not that 'uch to do though, when RP gets lesser, you run out of achieve'ents to do, your Gladiator ranked pvp tea' gets disbanded just before the season ends and you nearly got best in slot gear. So I stopped 25'an raiding well before 3.3, joined a social guild and just let 'y ga'e ti'e end (not sure what you 'ean with dragon-hunting and player fairs)

I could start a new toon, but I already played 'ost classes at 'ax level and never felt the urge to gear the' up and far' content for the' when I already been through that on 'y 'ain. I just play the' to get to know the class, their 'echanics and supply 'y 'ain with herbs/ore/leather/etc

You never went dragon-hunting? Basically, you and a team of however many you can get together go looking for the World Dragons til you've managed to kill them all. It takes a LONG time but if you devote a Saturday to it, it's a pretty good way to spend the weekend.

And a player fair (that's what I call them anyways) is when you get a whole bunch of players together for a player-made festival.
You can have tonk battles, crashin' racers races, costume contests, picnics (people with bountiful feasts or whatever they're called set them out, and people with brewmaidens set them out, so much fun!), and you can have somebody set out a pet skunk and somebody else set out a pet Bombay for some entertainment. Not to mention all kinds of other contests -- we've had scavenger hunts, trivia, dice games....
And of course, you can also set it up as a sort of "player market" where people see what they can trade.
And you can always do a parade. Our record for longest parade went from Westfall through Stormwind to Darnassus, around Darnassus and then back south to Ratchet (we took a short break to obliterate Crossroads :P), and random people joined in when they saw us passing by. We cheered, we waved, we made up songs. Good times!

See, how can you say you ran out of things to do? The possibilities are simply endless!

Ahh, then I have been dragonhunting, yus, Killed all green dragons and Azurgos 'ultiple ti'es with a friend, like every few days for al'ost half a year, they had the highest droprate on the last enchant i needed to get all enchants inga'e (I was kind of a co'pletist >.>)

After that I got the enchant I never went and look for the' any'ore, just killed Doo'walker and Doo' Lord Kazzak every few days for so'e gold, since the first was soloble and the other one we could kill with the two of us.

As for "player fairs", attended a few, they were fun indeed. 'ostly RP events.

On WoW Insider once they were talking to a guild about all the games they played as a guild. One was where everyone dressed up in Wedding clothes and lined up by the big elevator in Thousand Needles (forget it's name) and take turns jumping off the cliff with slowfall to try and land in the circles they marked at the bottom. :P

OMG! That sounds awesome, I wanna play!!!

Though it reminds me of an incident in our guild that has gone down in infamy.
See, my evil ex (we were together at the time) and I had started these toons to level together and they were about... level 40 I think, but the higher level guildmates were helping us out.
One, a level 80 mage, was escorting us to the Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles. We got on the elevator.... except the level 80 mage, who tried to jump onto the elevator while on horseback, missed, sailed over our heads and out of sight.... and promptly died. You could almost hear the "SPLAT!"

Who says there's no flying mounts on Kalimdor? :P

LOTRO player myself, due to friends playing it. However, even if they were to ask me to join them in WoW, they'd get a big fat NO now.
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: crayauchtin on March 16, 2010, 06:34:05 PM
That's what made it so funny, Rob! She had slow fall, she just completely failed to use it. :P

CC, I have heard good things about LOTRO but I don't know anyone (except you) who plays it. I'm assuming that big fat "NO" is because of the C&D? I don't blame you, but I was already paid for this month. :P

You can always try LOTRO out for 14 days, IIRC. Actually, that's the only inscription-type game I own (and play). Due to my adventure background I wasn't really into RPG, so naturally online RPG's you had to pay for every month were nowhere on my list. Then 'Guild Wars' came along...
Yes, cray, it's (also) because of the C&D WoW, and naturally, because I'm still 'into' LOTRO and I only intend to play one inscription-type game a month (even though I now purchase 2-month inscription-cards for LOTRO).

There's the rub, I have a Mac and the only MMORPG that's high fantasy and works on Macs.... is WoW! :(

A' the sa'e as CC actually, decided not to play 'ore then one subscription-ga'e-thingy, else it gets out of control too fast and I do not have ti'e to play 'ore then one anyways.

However, never felt that any ''orpg could really co'pete with WoW. they 'ight see' better at so'e parts but 'ost that I know that tried those ga'es ca'e back to WoW eventually anyways...

I really enjoyed Vanguard: Saga of Heroes when I beta tested it. Unfortunately, after they released it the servers balked under the stress of too many players and all kinds of things went wrong. I've heard they've fixed a lot of that though, so that may be one to check out if you're looking for another game, Rob.

The neatest part of that game, for me, was that you didn't have to adventure. There were just as many diplomacy and harvesting/crafting quests, so you could really do any of the three full time if you chose to. Of course, I'm a completionist so I was doing all three. :P

Anyways, for those of us who DO play WoW, I thought I'd mention that one of my friends on Argent Dawn and I were just discussing creating a roleplaying guild. If ya'll might be interested. We're leveling some characters right now so we can help new toons level quickly when we get it up, but I didn't know if any of you would be interested in that.

Don't you all play on US servers anyways?
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: crayauchtin on April 01, 2010, 11:33:50 AM
I do, yeah, but I think you can choose to play on non-US servers.... so you might be able to play on non-European servers?

could be, yes, I think I need a different client for that though?

or well, 'atters not 'uch, since I a' not playing anyways! but, seeing this thread is about WoW, can just link your toons here *nod*nod*

This is 'y last 'ain;
Adel - Sporeggar - Europe (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Sporeggar&cn=Adel)

Last active Feb 21, 'ore then a 'onth without WoW and still no withdrawal sy'pto's! could it all be a lie then? when they said I was too 'uch of an addict to stop playing?

Could be. I'm not addicted.

I do, however, have an inordinate numbers of toons but most of them are fairly inactive -- I just like to try out different servers sometimes! My two main toons are...
Crayauchtin - Silvermoon - USA (http://us.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Silvermoon&cn=Crayauchtin)
Crayauchtin - Argent Dawn - USA (http://us.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Argent+Dawn&cn=Crayauchtin)

koko_99_2001 - Cenarion Circle - USA (http://us.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Cenarion+Circle&cn=Fayre)

Hmm...looks like Adalyra's page isn't up yet XD

Druid with a gun! I approve!

I a' a'azed that neither of you have a 'ain on lvl 80 yet though. Kinda re'inds 'e of a friend of 'ine who gains one level every 2 'onths and only just reached Northerend, even tho she spends 'ore ti'e in WoW then I used to  :P

I have WotLK, it's not the US it's just her! I was the last in my guild to get the expansion though.

Cat, I just noticed last night that you're not using World of Warcraft feeds on Facebook, it's the official WoW app, connects to the Armory. I'll send it to you!

Well, I guess I won't be playing for a while. Just tried to log on and found out my account was banned. I'd noticed I kept getting disconnected yesterday while Ken (who was playing his account next to me) wasn't, so I went and changed my password.

Apparently wasn't soon enough though because it was hacked and someone was selling gold with it. >:( >:( >:(

Guess I'll have to contact Blizzard and see if they can do anything. :(

:wall:

Post by: tessspoon on April 05, 2010, 03:29:36 PM
Maybe... I don't remember anything out of the ordinary other than getting repeatedly disconnected yesterday.

Which isn't going to help my cause; from looking over the faq it looks likes Blizzard's more lenient toward people who have evidence of being hacked. :(
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: B'rrr on April 05, 2010, 03:37:14 PM
Can't they see if there is logged on fro' an entire different location then nor'ally? and usually naked characters and such is enough to 'prove' that you are hacked, got plenty of friends that were hacked that got all their stuff back and got the ban revoked.
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: koko_99_2001 on April 05, 2010, 04:02:01 PM
Crazy. Erik had received some kind of email recently which looked like it was from Blizzard and logged in from there. We think someone then had access to his account. We changed his password (which was about 1 1/2 weeks after the initial email) and then shut down my debit card in case they tried to get access to that. The only reason we were suspicious was because Erik received a second email about his payment information being removed and his account going to be shut down.
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: tessspoon on April 05, 2010, 04:52:56 PM
No idea if any of my characters were stripped or not, hopefully not since I think I changed my password right in the middle of them doing stuff. (Assuming they then didn't just get access to my new password).

Sent Blizzard an email asking to dispute the charge but it'll be a few days before I get a response. Also going to check our computers for keyloggers.

Yikes. :S  You should also contact your credit card/debit card companies.  They usually have people dedicated to investigating fraudulent charges.

My dad's checking on that now, trying to figure out which credit card my account is billed to (bit confusing since we have two accounts being billed to two separate ones).

Aren't your credit card details hidden anywyas? could be wrong tho, I used a different kind of pay'ent.

Yeah, that's what he said. He was actually looking to see what date they charge that card so we can see if they keep charging it.

That's so awful, but I hear Blizzard is really good about handling phishing and hacking. I keep getting emails, messages, and whispers from people trying to phish my account. I don't know why all of a sudden that's become all the rage, but Blizzard's even changed that to the login notice.

Which reminds me, don't submit a ticket for people who whisper you asking you to log in from any websites! I did that, they sent me a message saying they would deal with it but that it's much faster to right-click on the name of the person who whispered you as it immediately links them to that account and they can then ban the IP more easily (which would also prevent them from logging in on other accounts!)
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: tessspoon on April 06, 2010, 07:39:17 AM
Got an email back saying they reversed the banning. That was a whole lot easier and faster then I was expecting, though I haven't been able to check anything what with it being Tuesday. :)

I'll be getting an authenticator now, my dad will just have to call me if he wants to use my account to dual-box (the only reason I hadn't gotten one yet).
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: B'rrr on April 06, 2010, 08:03:58 AM
never really liked the authenticator, on occasion I asked a friend to do so'e seasonal quests/achieve'ents when I could not 'ake the' and vica versa, with an authenticator ya kinda screwed.

Guess it does add so'e security at least, but wasn't that one hacked aswell? so it is still not failproof, you still have to be carefull with what you download/click on/etc. So nothing really changes  :P

Except for getting a pet!
Title: Re: OMG WoW!
Post by: crayauchtin on April 06, 2010, 11:52:15 PM
I should get that... mostly because it comes with a pet. Actually, no, pretty much only because I want more pets. :P

Well, they're mostly cosmetic. Only a few of them really *do* anything. I mean, the Wolpertinger's good because it's invisible to monsters. The skunk or bombay cat is fun if someone has a skunk or a bombay cat around (the skunk falls in love with the cat, chases it around, it's all very Looney Tunes!) but mostly it's just because I'm a completionist and I want them all. :P

I hope I'll go back on soon...IF you guys all decide to make a TSL group on there then that might make me come on even sooner ;) I have characters both horde and alliance but seems like on different servers to everyone else and I don't want to spend money transferring lol!

Come on Q, make a tsl group and get us all involved ;)
