The nail polish on my toes has chipped a lot since prom, which is logical considering prom was a month and a half ago, but it's frustrating since I've been wearing flip flops. We don't have nail polish remover (and they don't sell it at the grocery store near my house[???]), so I can't get rid of it, but I don't have the same color nail polish, so I can't repaint it. I feel weird going out in public with my toes showing but clearly not meant for public viewing!

Owww, a friend of mine painted my toenails with soem sparkly polish while I was sleeping, took weeks before it was gone!
I have to paint clear polish on my fingernails to keep from biting them.
I do not have the same problem with my toes, for the record.
Rob you should have just invested in nail varnish remover...or asked a female relation to borrow theirs...it would have come off a lot quicker!

When I first found SCI Resource Viewer, it was a very, very happy day.
I never feel like I've truly completed a video game until I've been able to analyze its file structure and extract its data (audio, video, text, textures, etc.).
I don't suppose you've found any programs that help with analyzing Lucasarts games and the Kyrandia series?
I'd love to be helpful here, but I've never played either. :(
I mean, I've played plenty of 2000s Star Wars games (Jedi Knight series, etc.), but nothing from the KQ era.

Understandably, Word underlined Daventry in red to tell me that it was misspelled, so I right-clicked it with the intention of telling Word to add it to the dictionary when I noticed one of the suggestions was "Adventure."
...This is totally not a coincidence and that's entirely where Daventry comes from, isn't it?

I wish I could go back and redo my college career in game design. Working on TSL has been a lot of fun, however my teachers never encouraged papers on video games. They actually said playing them, as often as I do, is not good for the brain. 8)
That's such bull! Playing video games is actually good for your hand-eye coordination. Your teacher is lame.
I would also argue that well-made video games can expand your mind. Bioshock, Half Life 2, and King's Quest have all made me think in ways that only good books and movies can.
I played Half-Life 2 my freshman year in college and I agree... That game makes me reflect, think, and feel in ways I never thought possible. I know it isn't adventure, but Half-Life 2 is an astounding game on all levels. I have yet, since that game, found a game that made me feel even remotely the same way.
I love getting into debates with friends about video games. We even talked about Bayonetta and why the creators picked the designs that they used for the different type of angels, and that game's supposed to be just Devil May Cry with strip teasing.
The only paper I recall ever writing about a video game was a research paper on Final Fantasy X and X-2 and the role of the Church of Yevon in the games as well as comparisons to our religions.

I had to use it in a Unix class too and never did get the hang of it. If you memorize all of the keyboard shortcuts, I'm sure it's fine, but I just can't do that, especially since I don't use any Unix-based OS as my primary (and if I did, there are so many better command line text editors).

For some reason, the commands and interface in vi seem needlessly complicated to me while vim seems so much more natural/intuitive.
On a related note, I'm basically learning iDL, C, and Fortran on the fly for my research. :-X (Switching back and forth is a pain, a painful, painful pain.)
My dad had to write Fortran programs on punchcards when he was in college. I had to learn Fortran in college, too. :X Does it still have the 80 character/line (width of a punchcard) limit?

So did mine. He was actually part of the huge committee that worked on standardizing Fortran (the F70 standard, IIRC).
Yes, yes, it does. (It's the 72nd column, btw.) Do you have any idea how frustrating and unnerving it is to go from writing a program in C to writing a couple lines in Fortran only to find that it won't compile because your brain dropped that important little note in the cross over?
Or for that matter... having a compiler that inserts A SINGLE CHARACTER tab when you hit enter... -.- I have to space bar over the label and symbol part by hand... which looks the same as the tab it inserts... but then the compiler can't figure out what the heck I'm smoking because the code has started in the middle of a line because the rest is where the label goes as far as it is concerned.

Any Super Private Board would be for Administrators. There's a private Staff board, a Private PR board, and that's all I know right now. If there's anything else, I don't have security clearance for it. Yes, I said security clearance XD

I ask the same question about the interrobang. If there is a secret order for the Interrobang, I'm SO joining it. The interrobang is like the best thing to ever happen to the english language. Yep! Undergrad we worked almost exclusively with Java, but in grad I've been using C++ for most of my classes, and Python for my research.

I don't know what A is, but usually when displaying a 2D array two for loops are used. One to iterate over the rows, and one to iterate over the columns. If I assume that A works like the 2D arrays I'm used to, then:

for(int j = 0; j < columns; j++)

You know, with all this talk of some of the old Sierra folks returning to the gaming spotlight, kinda reminds me of a dream I had recently.
In the dream, Graham was sitting in a big secret room of Castle Daventry where there was a gigantic computer monitor- with pretty much EVERY Sierra game on it! Including King's Quest! and it came with a phone too, where he could contact various Sierra employees (Roberta Williams, Jane Jensen, the Two Guys enc), and the various heroes of their games (like Roger Wilco, Laura Bow, Gabriel Knight enc), and also other companies like the folks at Infamous Adventures and Pheonix Online Studios- a desk, a keyboard, a device that opened up portals to the other Sierra game universes, and a dramatic swivel chair.
Of course, he can no longer hang out with most of these people after what they call "The Hub" (aka the Sierra offices) was shut down and now is owned by Activision. Thusly, leaving most heroes of Sierra (that weren't picked up for remakes or fangames) wondering what to do with their lives now that their adventures are over and they're basically unemployed. So, to keep on adventurin', Graham bands everyone together he can still find, and they dtart hatching a plan to storm the offices of Activision and get back Sierra! Roger, Gabriel and the QFG Heroes were to stage a distraction, while Graham was leading the charge against the leader of Activision (whose name I can't remember. The one who said "I want to take the fun out of games.")...
And then I woke up.

When you play KQ3 you see something like one sitting on one of the shelves. Fact. :yes: I haven't dreamed about King's Quest in a long time, though I have had dreams about it before. I'm actually surprised, since I've been on such a Sierra kick! As I stated in another thread, I recently played through both Laura Bow games, and right now I'm working through KQ7 (for like the 3,592,745th time).
Okay, when I was a little girl, I never finished The Dagger of Amon Ra, but I just beat it over the summer and I gotta say, I am MAD at myself. Not because I never finished it as a kid, but because I had SUCH A HARD TIME WITH IT. And when I beat it, Laura ended up getting shot to death in her bed because I she didn't solve the mystery corrcetly. I was like, "Double you tee eff?!" It was a long and arduous journey, and I was not satisfied with the ending at all! I Googled a walkthrough afterwards to see what I missed, and it turns out I missed a LOT. And here I was, thinking I was kicking murder mystery butt, but no, I sucked. >:( Grr.
Plus, like I said, the murderer chasing me around scared the mess outta me. :dead:
See, I used to play that game when I was really little. :P And I never even made it into the museum. :P But one day last summer I replayed it with Jamie and we were infuriated by how utterly unfair the game was and how impossible it was not to miss things on the first playthrough. My wife and I did a "swim with the dolphins" thing in Mexico. They're pretty cool, but I wouldn't describe them as cuddly. :P

Something I just noticed yesterday in QFG3 is that the themes for the Hero's Hut and Erana's Pool of Peace are the same melody! I love when games do that!

Went to an amusement park whit my friend (Efteling). Becouse of (a little bit) bad weather it was very quiet.
Almost no queue. Been to several rides. The park was made in a winter style.
Fun Fact: I use to belong to American Coaster Enthusiasts. And yes, that actually exists. :)
