Title: a good start
Post by: Pensive_Goat on July 10, 2010, 03:36:31 PM
As a long time King's Quest fan, I really enjoyed the chance to explore the Land of the Green Isles in 3D, and it is evident that a lot of effort went into capturing the details. This is the kind of experience that I was hoping Mask of Eternity would have been.

Though I really enjoyed the immersive environment, I hope that the future episodes contain more gameplay. I felt that this episode was 99% exposition; there was only one puzzle that I noticed. I hope that future episodes also have more ways for Graham to die, as that is of course an important part of King's Quest games  ;D.

You are Done with Chapter 1, the Game and Chapters are that SHORT  :( :( :(

Remember, chapter one is supposed to take 1-2 hours. The subsequent chapters will take closer to 2-3, and probably have more puzzles. :)

Adding it up, that's anywhere between 9 and 14 hours of gameplay, which isn't bad for an adventure game. For example, Heavy Rain, a commercially produced game for the PS3, only had about 10.

Chapter 1 is like the prologue to a much deeper story. Completion time varies for each person. I completed the game rather quickly the first time I tested it however, my sister is stuck (unless she is pulling my leg) as well as my brothers.  Don't be discouraged.

That was really... short.

I should have suspected that from the number of megabytes I had to download. Luckily, the rest of the game is likely to have far, far longer chapters. Still, it is beautifully colored, great music, and contains some foreshadowing, none of which I shall spoil here.

I've completed chapter one and I must say I'm very impressed with how it's all put together, can't wait for more! I did some of the beta testing a while ago so I was probably a bit quicker anyway because I sort of knew what to look for

Chapter 1 is shorter than the other chapters will be.

Glad you guys are enjoying it so far though!!  ;D

Think of it like a good book, without a good introduction you don't understand where you'll be going! The music, appearance and smoothness of the game are worth the download time in itself. It's like a KQ movie :D now where's my popcorn?!?!

Everything needs a beginning (so that later we can all play the middle and end!  ;))

And guess what...I think I can feel some  :suffer:'s coming our way once you have all played chapter 1...they know when they will release the next one and they won't tell us any more without a while of suffering ;) It just keeps you wanting more!

I really enjoyed it, though I was a little sad there weren't more puzzles.  That said, everything was top notch. I loved the little touches like the cinematic cameras panning over objects, and there was some solid acting in there.
Roll on episode 2!

took me about 25 minutes, and that's WITH fully watching the cutscenes (except for the opening which i've watched already)...

Speeding through the game can get you a time like that. Why don't you replay it? Take the time to look at everything, interact with everything. You get a lot more out of it that way, plus a few amusing tidbits the team added. This is the first time we've been back to the Green Isles in years, take the time to explore them a bit. :)

I've already completed the first chapter about two days ago, but I replayed it now and there's a lot of stuff I didn't catch. Such as a whole new area of The Green Isles. If you look hard enough, it's in episode 1. You just gotta find it... And of course the first death sequence... But that's all I'm going to say for now...  :suffer:
