Title: Tierra
Post by: Celli on March 13, 2004, 06:48:43 PM
Just have a question about Tierra.  What exactly is it, and does anyone have a link for it?

I think I'm downloading the right thing (KQ2 remake), but for the past two days the site hasn't been working to finish the download.

Tierra (now AGD Interactive) is an adventure game development group.  Their website is http://www.agdinteractive.com/  :)

Tierra is the former name of AGD Interactive, a team of adventure fans devoted to remaking adventure games. They already remade KQ1 and KQ2+, and are now working on a QFG2 remake  8)

Their site is www.agdinteractive.com

Can't you get any form of DSL-light?
BTW, not to boast but, CABLE RULES! ;D

Our cable just blinks off and on for no particular reason sometimes, it just kinda stops receiving for a little while for some strange reason. :P

I'm playing the KQ2 remake, and I'm trying to find the second stone.  I know I need to make the second skull work, but what do I need to find to make it work?
Title: Re:Tierra
Post by: B'rrr on March 15, 2004, 12:37:54 AM
you need the birth gem (which you already got) and the mallet... which you most likely have found already because it's in an obvious place (not for a mallet but for items it is... in a KQ game)

I had it all figured out when I got home from school today. ;)

Pretty good so far, seems more morbid though than the original. lol
Title: Re:Tierra
Post by: Celli on March 15, 2004, 08:55:37 PM
I just finished, and I have mixed feelings.  Very nice graphics, but I think Tierra (or whatever it's called now :P) tried to overcomplicate the plot.  There were some new elements that were nice, but once you got to the castle and the Brotherhood, it just started getting strange.  Why did the stake and mallet just disappear at random?  How did Lavidia get younger and Anastasia become older?  Who was the person who looked like Graham but was dealt with?

Some of the puzzles were odd too at the end? Like with the pin, or the bridge too.  The bridge really buggged me. lol

Post by: FataliOmega on March 15, 2004, 09:04:55 PM
yeah... the poison blow pipe puzzle needed to be a little clearer. I didnt know Id have time to pick something up when I was cornered by werewolves... plus the reed didnt look like it was a real object. And, Anastasia becoming a vampire is a good thing? Sorry, but whenever I think of vampires I think of QfG4 or Forever Knight. Vampires dont HAVE to be bad... but it certainly isnt a good thing.

All around though, I really appreciated what they did to beef up the plot. Plus it made it longer.  ;)

Anyone know if they are planning to remake KQ3?

KQ1 was a complete copy of KQ1, storywise. I think that was a test-case to see how good they could duplicate KQ.

I really enjoyed KQII+ but I thought some of the art in the cut scenes was a little odd. Don’t get me wrong but it seemed to be stuff from KQ V and VI retooled sometimes with odd results. All told an awesome accomplishment and that’s my only gripe…  8)

Ok, I hate to double post but I thought I should chime in on the dial-up/dsl/cable discussion. At least where I am Cable (via Comcast) is horrible for a hundred thousand reasons! Speakeasy does the best DSL… www.speakeasy.net… go there get happy…

Donno, everything I see Graham I get an odd feeling I’ve seen it before… I may be mistaken… whenever I see him with the crown on the perspective doesn’t seem right.

Hmmm.

I noticed a lot of things were stolen from KQV.  The wolves, the librarian, the cloak, and still a few other things.

I think she meant the actual sprites were taken from KQ5... and I must agree. Why bother draw your own when you can make a few alterations to the existing art?  ::)

and celli..soem of those questions you had related to the whole series...have you played the whole series?
Title: Re:Tierra
Post by: Celli on March 19, 2004, 09:44:02 PM
I had to go back and reread my questions. My questions were things specific to things that Tierra added to the game, and unrelated to the rest of the series (which yes, I have played all of ;)).

Why can't you have a baddie in KQ?
Title: Re:Tierra
Post by: Celli on March 26, 2004, 03:53:35 PM
I meant the concept behind The Father was out there. A supreme being that is behind everything that has happened, and wants the crown seems strange to be. Alhazred, Mannanan, and the other original KQ baddies were good. Just not Tierra's The Father. :P

Well, Alhazred and Mannanen are part of the BCS, and The Father is the head of the BCS, so I don't see any problems there. What's up with that crown, I don't know either, but apparently it's important to the BCS.
Title: Re:Tierra
Post by: Storm on March 26, 2004, 05:41:18 PM
I think what Celli meant was, that none of the other KQs had the baddies all tied up together like that. Sure, there were some relations out there but nothing as pronounced... the BCS exists far more in the imagination of the fans than in the actual games, and KQ2+ is the perfect example for it  ;)

I think AGDI will release the QFG2 remake sometime this year or the next... probably before KQ9 sees the light of day ;)

Yeah, several graphical elements originally came from games like KQ5. (which is probably the reason for your deja vu feeling) It's mostly the result of one person doing both the biggest part of the animations, lots of backgrounds and the entire job of scripting. There's people who are very vocal in their criticism on this issue, but I personally decided to just cut AGD2 some slack until I'm in a suitable position to criticise him. (i.e: as soon as I can manage to work 9+ hours a day on a game for about a year or so) After all, you can't really call someone lazy who works that hard without a little voice in your head calling you a hypocrite.
