Post by: RusseM on July 12, 2010, 09:15:15 PM
Is this going to be a game on cd or is it just online thing?

I'm assuming all online, since it's totally free that'd be quite an expense to start distributing it via CD.

keep in mind that TSL is only a fan game and is in no way an official sequel to the King's Quest series. In addition, TSL is meant to be a conclusion to King Graham's story and that of the whole royal family. Phoenix Online Game Development has no plans for King's Quest beyond TSL. Now, if activision wishes to make an official sequel, that's their decision, but POS will have no affiliation with it. We intend to move forth on our first original game, Corridor 9, following the completion of TSL.

I dont see how Activision can make a KQ9, how or what would be different, since TSL is Close to KQ as you can get

Well, I can tell you what would have been different if they made KQ9 years ago. According to Roberta, there was the possiblity that they were going to do a Connor, Rosella, Edgar, love triangle, LOL. It also might have had multiplayer of some sort.

Edgar would've been a suitable party for Connor, yush.

I don't think an official King's Quest 9 could beat TSL.  I feel like the IP owners have changed hands too much and it'd have completely lost touch with the rest of the games.  Could be wrong, and not saying I'd keep away from an official KQ9 were one to emerge... Just that I feel TSL is King's Quest's just ending.  Officially recognized as canon or not, it was born of love and passion from the series and is less of what I imagine would be a perversion of the series for profit.  Just the way most games seem to be made nowadays.  We'd be looking at something like Grand Theft Equine: Daventry Edition.

Makes me think back when AGD was making Royal Quest, but decided to make KQ1VGA

Well judging by the screenshots of the last attempt of KQ9, by Sierra, it would have been something more akin to Zelda, than earlier fairy tale-esque King's Quest games. Old king Graham (or some other knight) running around wielding the master sword, and able to do flips.  :P

Oh, god.  I remember seeing those pictures and being glad it was never made.

:suffer: :suffer: love it!
There is a very similar game on the x-box where you are a cowboy and steal horses, it's actually quite good!

I can't remember the exact link, but you could try a google image search. They exist on the internet somewhere. And the fact remains that TSL has been given the official seal of approval from Roberta Williams. In the end, that's really all that matters.

She didn't give it her official seal of approval, she said she liked it and was happy to see someone continuing the series for her. She didn't say that it IS KQ9 to her, or that it was what she envisioned to be the future of the series.

She said she's excited to see what happens to the Royal Family. That seems like an official seal of approval to me. :P
