So recently, I've been noticing a lot of people doing "bead sprites" - having seen the challenge that people put themselves up to attempting to create images with limited colours, I personally felt that the limited pallette really lent itself to the AGI King's Quest games.
This is my second bead-art (my first being a sprite of Graham (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b180/Katzii_Yataki/GRAHAM.jpg) walking, just as a tester), and what better place to start than Castle Daventry?
Mind the crocodiles. No more bad photo, though - got a scan! Which you'll have to click on this link (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b180/Katzii_Yataki/CastleDaventry.jpg) to see bigger. Forum is being a meanpants.

Cool! :D
Looks pretty neat!
so when can we put in requests? ::) ;)
Hahahah, thanks!
And Rob, I'll have to see about requests; I know I want to make more King's Quest screens but it just depends on time and beads! <3
Awesome, I love stuff like this!
I think I just found an interesting use of the Pixos set I got my kids for Christmas that they only played with once...
I remember making with those beads as a kid! You iron them, don't you? That's a good job :)
yus, she does. and when she is done with her beads she promised to iron my shirts! \o/

Yes, you do. I used to use these ALL the time when I was younger. I miss them so much! And that's really cool, Mango! I like graham! Although I think it would be cool to see someone try doing a VGA version of these, though that likely won't be very easy...
I love them both (the Graham one too) very talented :)
Haha! I always wanted to see some King's Quest beadsprites! Nice job on them! I used to play with my perler beads set as a kid all the time, but as I was too young to be trusted with an iron, I only got to actually fuse them together when my mom had the iron out.
Roberta, it's perfect! I love both Castle Daventry and Graham! Just awesome!
Thanks for the kind feedback, all of you! I was definitely excited to get this one finished; definitely 12 hours well spent (even if ironing it was a nightmare!). Graham didn't take long, hahahah. But still fun. Might have to do the rest of the family soon, too! It's just nice to have a group to share my nerdy beady fanart with!
In regards to VGA version, short of making a HUUUUUGE picture (this one is about the size of an A4 piece of paper), or doing so with mini beads (which would be painstaking, since midi beads are hard enough to work with!), it would be a tough act to pull off. Maybe something I'd like to try with more colours at hand though (only have about a dozen).
And Rob - I thought you had Haids to do that sort of stuff for you! ;)
Aaaaw, Melt-a-Beads!!! That turned out brilliantly, Mango! Love it!
And Rob, you never asked! I am both shocked and offended. >:(
Clearly it is cheaper for me to send my laundry to England then to the US *nods*
*Sulks*
Well, you coulda offered...
Those crocodiles are just plain awesome. XD
I think VGA would be possible, it'd just take a ton more beads and you'd have to take the picture from way further away.

Agreed, what're you talking about, Mango? They're great!
Thanks Jafar and Haids for my crococompliments! It's just photographing the things that's a nightmare. I might try and scan it sometime.
Wilco (do I call you Wilco? I'm calling you Wilco) - it'd definitely be possible. There are beads that are actually smaller than the ones I use, which would probably be ideal, but probably induce some sort of insanity that would possibly get me admitted to the Asylum. Which I've never been in in my life.
you should only use the primairy color beads!
That would be a challenge!
Also, shameless plug, but I managed to finally get a scan of my beadsprite, so it's a much better quality! Replaced the photo in the first post with it.
Haha I bet that was all kinds of fun trying to get that to scan properly.
Actually wasn't too hard! It was slightly smaller than my scanner space; all I needed to do was put a piece of paper on top and it went fine. Probably easier than photographing it was!
