Title: The Night Owl Thread
Post by: Rosella on July 15, 2010, 02:50:29 AM
Ok, since this thread isn't as well known, I'll post the original intention of it

"The rules are simple. No posting except for between the hours of sunset to sunrise in your part of the world. I completely understand that this may not in fact happen, but it'd be pretty cool if it did.  So, all you people of the night, feel free to post to your hearts content, and maybe just tell everyone a little bit about your day/evening, how you're doing, etc. (The possibilities are endless, no? )"

So basically, post when you're up, why you're up, or any half-asleep rants you might have to share!

So, it's 4:44 AM. I'm not sure why I can't sleep. I woke up at noon, but that's relatively early from when I've been getting up, so I've no idea.

Usually, when I'm trying to go to sleep, I'll think about things, as most people do, I'm sure, but I tend to focus on interpersonal relationships, and as of late, I've been thinking about all of the people I've met throughout my high school career that have influenced me in some way. Basically, I've been trying to get in contact with them and see if I can maybe repair some burned bridges or what have you. I've no idea if this is a good idea or not, because, well, it's almost 5 AM. I've tried this in the past with little to no success (Being exiled was a notable result once :P), but this time, at least for the person to whom I wrote an email around this time last night, it seems to have worked out in some way. Basically, I wrote an email to an ex apologizing for saying everything was his fault and taking my share of the blame. Tonight, I wrote an email to a girl who was my friend in middle school, and ended up transferring to my high school, just to be the other woman when my boyfriend cheated on me, and I told her that I valued the friendship we had but I wasn't willing to put effort into it anymore when I couldn't trust her.

Any of you guys ever done such things, with or without the influence of sleep-deprivation? :P

EDIT: In an attempt to kill time, I finally got around to looking at this new album I have, the first song on which starts off

And don’t go to bed yet love, I think it’s too early
And we just need a little time to ourselves
If my wall clock tells me that it's 4 in the morning I'll give it hell

So I give up. :P

I'm always up in the middle of the night... for now, I work the night shift, so I keep weird hours. :P  So despite the fact that it's 1:47 AM, it feels rather afternoonish to me.

Huh. It feels rather afternoonish to me too, but I woke up at 1 PM and then took a nap for 2-3 hours. XD

Hahaha, my sister and a friend of mine have a habit of doing that on their days off - especially my sis nowadays as she's a teacher and gets all summer off.

We're currently trying to fix our sleeping hours a bit - been going to sleep around 2 or 3 and not getting up until noon. Trying to at least getting to bed by 1:30... hasn't been going well so far :P

Doctor's appointment at 8:15 AM at the hospital 40 min away on Monday... fun... :P

Yeah, just me. That's what I thought.  ;D

I usually go to bed pretty late but I need to get to bed nowish.... it's only midnight, but I need to get up at eight in order to get to work by 10. I'm super not excited about work tomorrow -- I was supposed to have this weekend off, and instead I have eight hour shifts every day!

Is it too much to ask for that I get my big break so I can stop working? I don't think so!

It's 1:30! I'm worried because my car is in the shop and my dad wants to pick it up and leave by noon to go to this family thing. I'm not sure how I'll get to bed, considering I woke up at 3pm today. ::)

I really really want to sleep now and it's 4:30 in the afternoon LOL...I'mt tired, been working very hard recently and I just want a break! My days off are turning into favours and doing extra work (ok so I'm getting paid for it) but a sleep, and relax would be good. You know when you are going crazy when you dream of work at night!

It's where the bride and bridesmaids etc go and create some pottery before the wedding... usually for the bride and grooms new home! So like teapots, plates, cups etc :D great fun, artistic and something cool for the couple to keep and use through the years :)

Rawr!!! >:(

I was planning to stay home tonight, and then one of my very good friends texted me and was like "hey, let's go out" so I got ready super-fast and went and picked him (because he doesn't drive) and we went out to a club. We decided, since we were getting out kind of late, that we would go out to eat afterwards. As a result, we did not spend a lot of time hanging out together in the club itself, right? I mean, we were talking to all the other people we knew there.

So, end of the night, we meet up again, and he's got this guy with him. Cool, someone else to come eat with us, right? Nope! This guy doesn't want to go eat, he wants my friend to go with him to his hotel room and I can go eat by myself. :shifty: So, basically, my friend goes to this guy's hotel room after the guy is a total jerk to me. So now I'm home and hungry and in an awful mood. And thus, I'm posting.
Now, this friend is better looking than me by a lot so it's not shocking that I'm getting passed up on, trust me nor is it disappointing (this guy is... well, he's not ugly, but he's not my type) but we had plans! I know my friend wasn't planning on this but, seriously? Ugh, ugh, ugh!

And did I mention my friend is dating someone else who went out of town for business two days ago, and my friend was all "Make sure I behave!" ::)

/end rant

That's why I'm posting tonight!!!! :D

I mean, these days aren't really bad or anything, but I've been reading through old topics, and chat logs, and I just miss all the missing people, the crazy chats, Chamber, the Freak! polls... XD

Good show. When I was a kid I used to watch Mister Rodger's Neighborhood mostly for the parts where they showed how stuff was made, always found that kind of stuff interesting.

Bit past 1 am here, playing frontierville, trying to get Beast Within to work, and watching the forum as I've been doing pretty much all evening.

Yeah, I've seen him commenting on a couple of other KQ5 videos talking about voicing Cedric. He didn't say anything that sounded outrageously fake, and he reprised his role as Cedric in KQ2VGA, so he hasn't fallen off the radar or anything. It just might be him...

Yeah, it's all online though so I occasionally forget that I have schoolwork I need to do and then suddenly find myself rushing to get back on top of things.  Week after next I'll be just starting a new class and I'll have the whole week off at my regular job, so I'm planning to get way ahead in that class during that time.

By going to the Who's Online page, gives what people are doing. Sometimes you can see people printing threads there.

11:25 here. I'm pretty drowsy, but I'm sufing the Sims 3 site and watching all the little girls drool all over the fact that I live in the Pacific Northwest, and am therefore relatively nearby Forks. ::)  Do I dare tell them that--GASP!--I have actually been there?

Title: Re: The Night Owl Thread
Post by: kindofdoon on October 24, 2010, 08:41:35 AM
Dark Void is a third-person shooter game released this year that didn't do well critically or commercially, but I find to be quite fun and entertaining. A good portion of the game is built around whizzing around with a jetpack, which is extremely fun (see below).

I haven't beat it yet. I think I'm about halfway done.

I'm reaching that point of being tired where your brain doesn't feel like cooperating anymore and you start to get stupid.  Methinks it may be time to go nigh-night, since I must rise early tomorrow and visit the doctor.  Ugh.  And it's not even good ol' Doctor Sweiger, it's some new guy at the hospital who's gonna check my stomach issues!  Grrrrreat. :(

Alright, I really do gotta get to bed.  Nigh-night, all!  (Bee tee double you, I just fixed four unnoticed typos before sending this post in.  I really must be tired!)

Title: Re: The Night Owl Thread

I tend to focus too much on actively hunting the zombies instead of personal safety, so there's a pretty good chance I'll try to bite off more than I can chew, get zombified, and then go around spreading zombie germs, which I'm pretty good at.

This only applies to robot zombies for certain, though.
If real zombies were involved, maybe I could make like Kikoskia and grab a CHAAAINGUUUUUUN!

...and we're the three best friends that anybody could have...
...and we'll always stick together no matter what!

Friday night.  Quarter to one in the morning.  I'm on a Lebowski high, I believe!  Or a Jeff Bridges high, not sure which.  I saw True Grit last night (AMAZING), then I was all, "Oooooh, I gotta go get The Big Lebowski on DVD right now!" and went to Target at 9:21 in the evening just for that.  So I watched Lebowski tonight--two Jeff Bridges movies in two nights, man!  I should go see Tron: Legacy again tomorrow and make it three for three.  Hmmmmm.  I think I might actually do it...

So ummmm....yeah.  I feel like I just drank a triple shot mocha.  I'm all jittery and wide awake.  Maybe I should do something productive with this temporary burst of energy.  Ooooh!  Ooooh!  Maybe I should do a quick lap around the block, then see how quick I can shower after that!  My record shortest shower stands at 33 seconds.  Bow before awesomeness!

Jeez.  I'm rambling and probably scaring all of you off!  I should go.  I'm making MYSELF frighteneed! :stars:

12:39 am -- going sleepy time!

PS, writerlove, I'm not sure what you mean by "this" but if you meant anything other than "having a grand old time, preferably with lots of sweets and junk food and not much clothing" the answer is "probably not, you should go have a grand old time, preferably with lots of sweets and junk food and not much clothing instead".

...I should be a life guru.

What did you do between 6 and 7?

5 am was like, trying to do hair/make up sort of thing (which was never 5 o'clock it was more like 5:40 lol). 6 am was fixing something to eat or just coffee, lunch for the day. And 7 to 8 it was an hour and then some of horrible tedious traffic.

Awww. Stuff like that is why I pretty much never talk in online games unless I'm around friends. Seems like there's always a jerk lying in wait ready to spoil someone's perfectly good day.

It's the old... 1/10 people are online gaming jerkface trolls, so check your friends.... :P

In all seriousness, I used to have the same opinion when I started playing WoW and, frankly, in a lot of places in WoW that's still true but when I took Cat's advice to join the server I'm on now.... there's so many fewer jerks. It makes me hopeful for the rest of the Internet. :P

Post by: Rosella on November 20, 2012, 07:32:10 PM
Oh gosh. I know how that is. What shift are you working?

(Also, I sort of lucked out this year. Noon to 9:30pm, which is a pretty normal shift. One of the benefits of having the manager not like you, I guess. Fewer hours. :P)

Also, it's 9:30 and I'm awake. This may not seem late, but I just woke up after passing out at 3:00. This is going to end up being a long night.

Well, let's see.... I'm working 6 pm until a half hour after whenever our last customers decide to leave the night before Thanksgiving (or 12:30, whichever comes first) and Black Friday I am working from 11:30 pm (that'd be *on* Thanksgiving) until 8:00 am -- which is two and a half hours longer than any shift I've worked since I've been back from being sick.

And I'm posting this at 11:46.

Your Black Friday shift is the same one I had last year. I dunno about what you've done previous years but at GameStop, it was crazy busy when we opened and then calmed down by 3 and was dead until 8. Decent shift. I miss it. XD

Well, usually on Black Friday I work 11:30 pm until noon. We open at midnight, and usually it's crazy busy til about four. (It's a department store, I think people stay there longer) and then it's dead until about 10 am.
